Welcome to the Frisky Bean
Coffee to Wake you Up
Pastries to Turn you On

Listen… My daily goddess card tried to warn me that a big change was coming. She did. But… I was still not prepared for the impact that he would have on my life. That day when we met, I quite literally fell into him.

It was mortifying. It was exhilarating.
It was totally unprofessional. It was hot.

While our actions and bodies were most definitely aligned, our intentions were not. How so, you ask?

Well, I was blissfully busy pursuing my goals for my new café, The Frisky Bean. I did not ask, nor have the time, to deal with complications. And, since I felt as though we were both falling hard, all seemed well-blended.

That right there was mistake number one through five thousand, because he has no understanding of love and my goddess cards have some explaining to do.

Here’s what I know… Sometimes even the best recipes flop while a recipe riddled with mistakes can yield unexpected perfection. What were we?

A freaking delight. Stop asking me and read our story.

Don’t forget your oven mitts because one thing we were very good at is bringing the heat.

Discussed childhood loss of a parent to cancer. Parental neglect.

Overall 3.5 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 2.5-3 stars

This was an entertaining grumpy + sunshine instalove romcom. I liked Summer and Jason, but the pacing of their relationship didn't quite work for me. Things felt a bit too forced and because of that, the sexy times didn't quite hit the mark (though they were definitely spicy). I actually appreciated the third act conflict and how it was resolved at the end though. It helped both characters grow and address their issues before moving forward together.

The narration by Joe Arden and Emma Wilder was wonderful. Both are very talented and used a variety of voices to bring this book to life. They also gave such "enthusiastic" performances during those spicy scenes. *fans self*

Michelle Mars' novel "Frisky Intentions" captivated me from the first moment I started reading it. The story focuses on Summer Palmer, who runs their joint bakery, Frisky Bean, with her best friend Kevin Johnson. The business concept is charming in itself, with sweet treats being given charmingly provocative names, adding a twist to the world of pastries.

Summer's character immediately resonated with me from the first pages. She's a slightly clumsy, energetic young woman who, while sometimes trips over her own feet, is full of life and bravery. Although she trusts the guidance of her goddess cards, she doesn't let anyone control her life, but takes her destiny into her own hands. Her love for eating and for delicious food, her awkwardness and her sexual openness made her even more endearing to me, as I often recognised myself in her. Her genuine smile and her determination are all qualities that make her easy to like.

The other main character, Jason Winter, is the complete opposite of Summer. He built his career as an agent on his own, without any help, so he is used to fighting his battles alone. He is precise, deliberate, and always knows exactly what his clients want. Jason feels the only way to be successful in his work and personal life is to keep the two strictly separate. But when a prospective client sends him into Summer's flirtatiously erotic pastry shop, he's immediately captivated by her smile.

Summer and Jason's relationship is not lacking in sexual attraction, but what makes this story truly special is Jason's character development. Step by step, Jason realises that instead of perfect dates, Summer wants him to give her not just half of himself, not just parts of his life, but the whole of him. This inner transformation was inspiring for me, as Jason learned that success can be achieved not only at work but also when we can share our lives with someone.

One of the most interesting aspects of the book is that both protagonists' pasts have a profound impact on their current lives and choices. While Summer was able to grow up in a loving family even after her mother's death, Jason never experienced this kind of support. This contrast brings a fascinating dynamic to their relationship and also shows how important it is to come to terms with our past in order to truly be able to move on and build healthy relationships.

Overall, Michelle Mars' novel "Frisky Intentions" is a charming story, but also touches on deeper themes, full of realistic characters and emotions. The author's delicate sense of humour and the sparkling chemistry between the main characters make it a truly enjoyable read. I felt particularly close to Summer's character, inspired by her confidence and the way she approaches life and her own sexuality. Also, Jason's development shows the importance of knowing yourself and facing your emotions.

This novel is a promising start to "The Frisky Bean" series, and I can't wait to dive further into this world of erotica and delicious pastries. I received a free copy of "Frisky Intentions" by Michelle Mars via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is a 2 star read for me. While the concept of the story was really fun and had me smiling through the first few chapters, it got old quickly. I wasn’t as invested as I wanted to be in their relationship or in their sexcapades. And this book was horny with a capital “H”, which isn’t a bad thing by any means. But I felt like it overrode their relationship building. I ended up skipping quite a few chapters, mostly because I wanted to see where things ended up and I wasn’t super invested in the middle part of the story. In the last 5 chapters or so, I was glad to see each character take responsibility for what they wanted out of a relationship. Summer wanted to be an equal partner and couldn’t stay with Jason if he continued to keep his work life completely separate. Jason realized that he had a lot of connection issues and started to work things out with a therapist so he could be the partner Summer wanted and needed. And while those are good things, I just wasn’t super invested in the story.

Note: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Frisky Intentions is a grumpy/sunshine romcom that introduces Summer, our baker and owner of The Frisky Bean, and Jason, a Hollywood Agent working to represent some famous actors. Summer is hoping to find someone who can take her sass and fulfill her desires while Jason has not wanted a relationship until a beautiful woman keeps falling into his arms. He then has to undergo how to keep work separate from his personal life and how to accept he is deserving of love.

I really enjoyed Summer and her relationship with her friends. Jason was a little rough around the edges as I thought he tried too hard to impress Summer but he had the best character growth and I ended up loving him! I hope to see more of their story in the future!

Frisky Intentions
The Frisky Bean, Book 1
By: Michelle Mars
Narrated by: Emma Wilder, Joe Arden
Series: The Frisky Bean, Book 1

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me right in, grabbing my attention and holding it the entire time. It is a sweet and spicy story with a perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions, a touch of angst, and a steamy romance. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about too. Summer is the co-owner of The Frisky Bean, a unique bakery and coffee shop, and I loved the whole concept behind it and the naming of the products. The shop is doing well, but Summer and her partner work hard to keep the people coming into their business and area looking at ways to expand. Jason Winters is an agent for the stars and a potential client raved about the shop and its goods, so he went there to get some treats for her. And then there was Summer, and he felt an instant attraction to her and the feeling was mutual. I adored Summer, quirkiness and all. Jason was straight-laced in comparison, but they worked and it was great to watch their relationship blossom. Except Jason’s insecurities and need to compartmentalize his life may cost him the best thing in his life. There was never a dull moment in this wonderfully plotted story, and I loved how it all played out. Michelle Mars, thank you for this entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  And for the fantastic narration, Emma Wilder and Joe Arden were the perfect cast to bring these characters and the story to life. They had a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice fitting to that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. Wilder aced it as Summer, and I loved how she owned the role, grasping her quirkiness and all the other sides of her personality. Arden did the same as Jason, nailing his demeanor and personality perfectly. Both were fabulous playing the secondary characters and handling the humor and witty dialogue easily. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters' emotions and had you feeling them all. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

This is Summer and Jason's story.
Jason Winter has a routine, OCD. He has his own business and adheres to a strict schedule. He doesn't have time for relationships in his life. Until Summer fell into him when he visited her bakery.Summer is accident prone to falling..And she fell fast into Jason Winter. literally physically and emotionally.
Their romance was fast fun, steamy, but will.it last.
Jason is a surface person, he doesn't reveal emotions,.history of himself. Summer needs the emotional connection along with their physical spark.
This story is fun, sexy hot with laugh out loud moments.
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder narration brings this story to life. They make this audio a pleasure to listen to.

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook, Joe Arden and Emma Wilder are very good narrators.

Summer and Jason are so good together, the book was the perfect balance between sexy, funny and emotional.

I really loved the setting of the Frisky Bean Cafe and the fact the book wasn't heavy or sad.

This book was so amazing! It is sexy and sensual!

The story was so easy to listen to and flowed so well! This is the total opposite of a slow burn too lol

The female main character is a total klutz and keeps running into or falling into the main male character from the second of their meeting.

He has some emotional baggage from his past that eventually puts them on a time out (I love how they don’t fully break up they just take some time apart while still talking and keeping the relationship alive)

Another story that mentions therapy also. Love it ❤️❤️

This story was brought to life by Emma Wilder and Joe Arden! I absolutely ADORE THEM! Individually and as scene partners!!

Perfectly cute, funny, and steamy rom-com!

The storyline was super easy to jump into, especially after the Frisky Connections novella, and the characters were instantly loveable. Both of the audiobook narrators, Joe Arden and Emma Wilder, knocked it out of the park with this one, and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I plan on reading more of The Frisky Bean series in the future!

This was a cute read and fun read. It has tropes I love and the characters were good. I like it but it isn’t a book I would probably think much about in the future. Just a quick and fun read that served me s a good palate cleanser between longer books.

Frisky Intentions
The Frisky Bean, Book 1
By: Michelle Mars
Narrated by: Emma Wilder, Joe Arden

I love Michelle Mars and her style of writing! This book is not only romantic, but the humor had me laughing out loud throughout the story all while feeling the deep emotional pull to my heart. Summer is co-owner of the Frisky Bean, a coffee shop and bakery. A creative baker, she creates delicious treats with her best friend. Quirky and fun, she has a smile on her face and when Jason comes in to place an order, there is an immediate attraction. Jason is an agent to the stars has popped in to grab some pastries for one of his clients and now he can't get her out of his mind. This instalove story grabbed me from the start. The naming of the treats had me laughing, the undeniable chemistry between Jason and Summer had me yearning and the conflict of Jason's feelings had me frustrated! All the things that create that feeling of I need to know how it all turns out!!! I also loved that Mars incorporated the relevance of getting therapy. So many shy away from this and for this story it truly proves how much it can help. This is a fabulous story and I can't wait to see what she has in store next.

And to enhance this story even more, Joe Arden and Emma Wilder bring it to life! There is nothing I can say about these two that has not already been said. Arden is fantastic as Jason, bringing out his feelings and also holding back! He is a master of emotions. Wilder comes in with all the quirks that make Summer. From her frustration at cooking to her love of baking, she has each perception down to a T. I loved their collaboration and enjoyed the narration.

Frisky Intentions by Michelle Mars is a hilarious, charming, and heartwarming romcom. Thank you to the author and BookSirens for providing this copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Frisky Intentions was such a breath of fresh air in the romance scene. It didn't take itself too seriously while having an adorable love story to latch on to. The characters were well-rounded and believable, and their meet cute had me laughing so hard in my living room. The spice was also spicing, iykyk!!!

My only critique is that sometimes the POV shifts from 1st to 3rd very suddenly for a few sentences. This was a little jarring as a reader.

Overall I really enjoyed Frisky Intentions, and I’m rating it four out of five stars. Perfect for fans of low stakes, Oracle cards, coffee mishaps, and laugh-out-loud scenes!

*Audiobook review*

This was such a cute and fast paced romcom by a new to me author. Summer is seriously lacking a verbal filter which is super awkward for her, but fun for us. Jason keeps showing up at just the right time. Both are hard working and focused on their careers and neither are quick to let people in.

I really enjoyed this sweet story. The MCs fell hard and fast from the first awkward meeting and stumbled, much like Summer, into their HEA. The writing worked for me and the side characters helped fill it out well. The narration was excellent as I've come to expect from Emma and Joe. They are a great narrator team as their emotional performances and beats are well matched, and the transitions between POVs are really smooth making it a very easy and enjoyable listening experience.

This was the first book I’ve read or listened to by Michelle Mars, but I expect to listen to more. I enjoyed the book/author/book store references. I also liked that the characters talked about what was bothering them.

I’ve listened to many books performed by Emma Wilder and Joe Arden, and yet they somehow exceeded my high expectations. Emma Wilder’s male voices are exceptional, and Joe Arden delivers lines while sounding truly distracted, out of breath, etc. I’d like to give them more than 5 stars for their excellent audio performances.

I received a copy of this book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Audiobook review.
This is actually my first Audiobook by Michelle Mars and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are looking for a witty story with minimal angst then this just may be the book
for you. Summer and Jason are an insatiable couple their appetite for eachother is very impressive. They click as soon as they meet so you could say this is an instant attraction book..although they
don't go on their first date for a while.
Summer is pretty much a quirky character and an open book...But Jason is the opposite he is closed off about his family and his upbringing has effected him now that he is an adult.
Which ultimately hurts their budding relationship.
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder narrate this story with the perfection that you can always expect from these two talented storytellers.
I am a huge fan of both Narrators and so I loved listening to them as they retell this book to me,their voices project all the emotions of the characters in a smooth and precise execution. They made me blush more than once with those intimate scenes,..and laugh and smile at the funny dialogue. They are Magnificent. I found this book really enjoyable and interesting story and loved I listening to it.
I highly recommend it.

Frisky Intentions was a super fun, seggsy and quirky listen. Summer and Jason were ridiculously cute as couple, their struggles as people were so very normal it took me a while to remember this was set in LA.
Despite finding their first seggsting a little cringy all other seggsy times were supper sxteamy. Joe Arden’s narration of Jason’s POV of one of those times was so good I had to re-listen. It was soo good I wondered if he was… okay…
Emma Wilder as Summer was superb. Summer was feisty and sassy and Emma really brought it home with her narration of Summer’s thoughts and dialogues.
Shout out to the bloopers at the end. Loved it.

This is not a romance, it's actually depressing. The male lead is absolutely wonderful and sweet, while the female lead is a darling klutz. Their banter is as hilarious as it is thoughtful, right up until the day he almost forgets his date with Summer because his mind is on business. During their date, he asks Summer about her childhood and she opens up to him. When Summer asks him to reciprocate, Jason bristles, panics and distances himself from her. His response is to think about leaving her in the dark like he has with every other woman. As for me, it's time to prove that he isn't a self-centered twit. Jason is a talent agent and is in the process of wooing a famous actress to sign with him. Summer owns The Frisky Bean coffee shop where the pastries are not only tasty, they have suggestive names. I couldn't wait to see what delicious concoction they came up with next. Summer and Jason have a most unique meet-cute and have an immediate connection, but both have sadness in their background, but how they dealt with the harmful feelings is what makes one of them joyful and trusting, while the other is pessimistic and self-absorbed. Jason is an inflexible man who keeps his private and public lives separate, with no room for negotiation. He compartmentalizes his world so entirely that he thinks only of himself and how things affect him. He knows that he doesn't have the capability to love because he grew up in a home where his parents never said I love you. The first time Summer tells him that she loves him, he bristles and panics because he just can't say those 3 words. He's closed off and if someone gets close and threatens his independence, he pulls into a shell or sends them away. Because his work life never bleeds into his private life, he makes some unbelievably heartless decisions, showing that he has no empathy for anyone other than himself. Jason has an announcement ceremony and Summer wants to know what she should wear and he tells her she's not invited."What did she expect from me," as he vacillates between righteous indignation and despair. Jason gets angry at her, because doesn't she understand that he needs to keep his lives separate? "She doesn't fit in with the Hollywood scene." When she needs some space because of his cruel treatment, he isn't sure of what that means, but after a day of silence, his response is "I'm Jason Winter and I need no one. You're not part of my life, you might want too much of my attention." I think his own words prove that he's unforgivable.
Summer decides that she can't love a man who will share only one half of his life, she goes to Jason to tell him she loves him, but can't be with him. Jason agrees with her and goes on to explain that he's going to see a therapist because of his "unresolved Mommy and Daddy issues." He sends her away and needs time to work on himself with his therapist. I really expected to see a grand gesture from Jason, but there wasn't even any grovel. So disappointing. A quick ending and a pedestrian epilogue that shows Jason and Summer traveling to Colorado to see her parents. And once more, he reminds us that his parents didn't know how to love him.
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder are an amazing duo. They are wonderful with the narration and let you experience what the characters are feeling. The emotion they instill in each character brings Frisky Intentions to life.

When I'm LOL by the end of the first chapter just visualizing the scene being described and can't wait to see what other moments will happen, then you know I'm intrigued enough to keep reading (and I literally stayed up all night reading this). Romantic comedy is most definitely not my preferred or usual genre of book, but every now and then I need a break from the darker themed romances I typically read. It is sort of funny because I am always tripping over or dropping stuff. I like to bake, but can't actually cook more than the most basic things. But the funniest of all is that I so related to how she was embarrassed easily when he was flirting with her. That was definitely me when I first started dating my hubby (and now he shakes his head at the more kink filled books I read and says he must have corrupted the good girl he first met 20+ years ago).

I loved that it was not all light hearted and also shows that in order to be in a relationship you need to be willing to address your own personal traumas/issues. That is something so many people are unwilling to do and in the end it ruins many relationships.

There were definitely plenty of spicy scenes for those who can't get enough of them. I'm one of those weird people who prefer more "sprinkled" spice through the story and don't need quite so many as they just start to feel overly repetitive even when they are in different settings (this is just my personal preference and doesn't reflect the quality of the book).

Now for the things that were more bothersome to me that readers may or may not be able to overlook...
Switching from 1st to 3rd person frequently definitely threw me off track, especially when it happens in a single sentence. This was probably the thing that really bothered me the most while reading.

There were also a few things as far as writing style/sentence structures/etc. that threw off my reading pace at times. I occasionally had to go back and reread sentences several times trying to figure out exactly what it was trying to say. And at times things were overly described, yet didn't add to the story (for instance... random characters being described in great detail, but don't really have any significant role in the story that warrants such a detailed description).

But overall nothing major that made me not want to continue reading as I did enjoy the banter between the two main characters. Since it seems this is a newer author (at least in this genre) I definitely am willing to give more grace for editing issues, compared with someone who has a long list of books already published in the genre. Sometimes it can take a while to find a good team to help polish things (betas, proofreaders, editors, etc.).

I went into this just really needing a good laugh and this book definitely accomplished that goal, which is why it gets 4.5 stars from me!

Frisky Intentions is a 'sweet', romantic, funny, and sizzling hot romcom. Summer is a clumsy, yet delightfully smart and strong, bakery owner, and Jason, is an agent in the entertainment industry. They have an awkward, hilarious meet cute, that left them both hungry for more. When they start dating, they have so many hilarious moments, along with some misunderstandings, but nothing stands in the way of how insatiable they are for each other! Summer is an open book, but no matter how much Summer reveals about herself, Jason is closed off about his past. Summer gives him time to trust her, but when something happens, and it becomes clear that he is shutting her out, will Summer walk away breaking both their hearts? Summer and Jason were so great together, they had fun, witty conversations, and their chemistry was explosive! I loved Summer with her friends, who were unconditionally supportive, and so hilarious. I also loved the clever names for Summer's sweet treats and her business model.
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder did a great job bringing these characters and story to life. They delivered all the fun awkwardness, emotion, and steam so flawlessly, making me enjoy this sizzling romcom even more.

Frisky Intentions is a fun, spicy, and humorous book that checks all the boxes a Rom-Com should! This was an easy read that pulled me in from the beginning, the writing portrayed the humor extremely well and had me laughing out loud within the first chapter.

We follow our FMC, Summer who co-owns Frisky Beans, a Bakery, with her best friend. This Bakery is as fun as it sounds, with Menu items like 'Bondage Banana Bread' and 'Sultry Snickerdoodles', it's filled with deliciously described baked goods and is the setting for one of my all-time favourite meet cutes! Like the bakery, Summer is one of a kind, she's creative, funny, clumsy, talented, and witty. One of my favourite qualities Summer has is her confidence, she's a very strong main character that doesn't need saving, she knows exactly who she is and exactly what she wants. Summer meets Jason at The Frisky Bean, she literally falls into him backside first as he enters the store, displaying her clumsiness and the start of their attraction to one another.

Jason and Summer are undeniably attracted to one another and begin dating shortly after they first meet. The two have fantastic chemistry and connection, with witty banter and fiery steamy scenes that were written SO well! This book had me smiling from beginning to end and I loved that the more serious topics weren't too much of a focus and didn't make this book feel heavy at all.

This would have been a 5 star read for me, but the POV switching and the few necessary edits is the reason for 4 stars.

Frisky Intentions is a great start to this new series and a great intro to Michelle Mars writing for me personally, I can't wait to read more!

I have loved everything Michelle Mars has written, so when I had the opportunity to read Frisky Intentions I of course jumped at it. There were some tech issues with the copy I received originally- it was pre proof read. But it all got sorted easily and I fell in love with Summer and Jason.

Summer just opened a bakery - The Frisky Bean. It's a bakery with a sultry twist - all items are a little sexy, like the Virginal Vanilla Latte. Summer is excited with her new business, but is a little anxious when her daily Goddess Card indicates that she's going to be experiencing a big change. She wasn't totally prepared for a sexy man to fall into her lap. Or more specifically, she wasn't expecting to fall into Jason Winters arms. Their chemistry is off the charts - but when Jason's Job as an agent means he lives in a whole different world, will they survive?

I LOVE strong communication.  Normally with the tough, controlling type, there's more telling then listening. But Jason is an active listener who engages in dialog. Don't get me wrong, he's not without his faults. But  he is willing to address them, which is incredible.

Also I kept envisioning him as a silver fox. No idea why

I loved Summer alot too. She was kind and empathetic, but she took absolutely no shit. I really admired her for being open and honest about what she needs, always.

My copy had some spelling and Grammer issues, but after taking to the author we came to the conclusion I had an incompled version. I obtained a correct version, and picked up from chapter 24, and noticed no errors.

I am very excited to read any more in this series!
