I was ready to die the night I walked into Nic Colombo’s restaurant with a loaded gun and the insatiable need to avenge my father’s death. But sometimes, life has other plans. Lessons to be taught. Stories to be told. And that night both paths were set into motion. Turns out, the Colombo brothers make great teachers. In exchange for my life, one would teach me how to hate. And the other would teach me to love. The bargain we made gave these two men more power over me than anyone should ever have. But they didn’t need an agreement to own me. My mind, body, and soul belonged to my enemies the second I walked through those doors with the intention to kill. And now that they have a vicious hold on my heart, it will surely be my downfall. This is a dark romance and the first part of two book duet. This book does end on a cliff hanger and does not have closure for the romantic storyline until book two. For a full list of triggers, please refer to the authors website.
Natalia Lourose writes angsty romance about broken people figuring out life and finding love along the way. Television and far too much smut as a teenager left her obsessed with dark-haired bad boys who are moody and wear leather jackets. Tucked away in her writing nook with a dog at her feet, two cats on her keyboard, and husband yelling at the computer – she is always writing something, or trying to.
She loves interacting with fans and fellow book lovers on social media!
This is my first book by Natalia Lourose and I enjoyed it. This is a dark romance and book 1 to a duet. Valerie is seeking revenge and she doesn’t expect for things to not go as planned and now her heart belongs to both Colombo brothers. This book does end on a cliff hanger, so I am definitely interested to read book 2.
What to expect: 🔥Dark Mafia Romance 🔥Love Triangle w/Brothers 🔥Threesome Activities 🔥Illicit Deals 🔥Super Spicy 🔥Forced Proximity 🔥Revenge Theme
This book was my first read of the author and thanks to my friend Bee for urging me to read it and for putting up with my reactions.
Valerie's sole desire was to seek retribution for her father's murder and to exact revenge on those who had made her life unbearable since his death. She was determined to kill Nicolai, so she ventured to his casino and attempted to pull the trigger before him. Unfortunately, her aim was off, resulting in dire consequences.
Nicolai presented her with an ultimatum: spend a year with him, and he would train her in the art of revenge, enabling her to kill his father for ordering to kill her father. Alternatively, if she declined, Nic would end her life immediately. Knowing she was striking a deal with the devil, Valerie reluctantly agreed to spend a year under his thumb.
Little did she realize that by accepting this proposition, she had also consented to fulfill any and all of his demands, at any time of day, whether they involved brutal lessons or moments of pleasure. Valerie endeavored not to shatter any further than she already had. She encountered Nic's brother, Leo, who did his best to care for and shield her from Nic's harsh teachings and punishments.
I have never read a story quite like this before, and it was exceptionally well-written. The dynamic between the Colombo brothers created an intense tension that Valerie couldn't ignore. Nic's teachings blend punishment and pleasure, causing Valerie to develop strong feelings of desire and need. Nic embodies the essence of a devil, exerting control and dominance, while Leo is portrayed as an angel who truly understands Valerie and takes care of her.
The unexpected plot twists that unfolded in the final chapters caught me completely off guard, leaving me with a feeling of disbelief. I found great satisfaction in the plot, as it revolved around a girl seeking vengeance for her father's murder. She never anticipated the unforeseen events that would transpire, forcing her to confront her life choices and struggles.
I am eagerly awaiting the sequel because the cliffhanger at the end of the first book was absolutely mind-boggling.
This book was SO good! The spice was top notch and the brothers were so drastically different that it made the plot so messy but I literally couldn’t stop reading.
We follow Valerie who is on a mission to avenge her father. She makes a grave mistake and finds herself with no choice but to play into her enemies hands.
Her enemy also has a brother who lights up her miserable life just a little. He is the sun, the soft one, the one who cares for her. But his brother, the one in charge, the one who tortures her, dominates her, and manipulates her, has his claws deep into her soul as well.
That is until the end….
God that cliff hanger was INSANE! I need the next book right freaking now 😭
Tropes: ♥️love triangle ish ♥️forced proximity ♥️forbidden love ♥️mafia romance ♥️bdsm
“We can pretend, toy with each other like cat and mouse, but at the end of the day, our roles are clear. We’ll always be enemies.”
This book took me a little while to get in to but once I was in it I was along for the wild ride! The twist at the end I didn’t see coming?! Damn! is all I’ll say.
Most of the book is really good! The story, the characters, the twist. My issues with the book were all truly personal. There are content warnings for a reason, I just felt that a couple of scenes were closer to non-con than dub-con and that made me uncomfortable. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone but Valerie says “no” and Nic does something anyway, which is non-con. So again, my issue!
Separate from this, the spice is so so hot!! 🥵 definitely a five alarm fire over here!
There were a few moments that had me questioning Valerie as a character and why she was making certain choices or thinking certain things that I just didn’t see as “realistic” like desperately wanting someone who treats you so horribly, without any kindness, respect or compassion. It seemed really off and I didn’t find it believable. (But again, these are my weird quirks!)
This doesn’t mean the book isn’t good or you won’t enjoy it! I fully recommend the book for people who don’t have my hang ups haha. If you’re a fan of dark romance, revenge, alpha holes, mafia plot, brothers in a Devil’s Triangle 😏, FMC who has an ugly past, sisterly bonds, k!lling, and don’t have triggers with domestic violence, you’ll definitely want to read this book!!
First off - that cliff hanger!! Literally have so many questions and thoughts….will be ready to find out with the next one!
Okay so Nic and Leo are literally human versions of the devil and angel on your shoulder…if they were in the mafia.
I loved Leo instantly. Nic….well he likes to be the monster but I definitely feel like there is more to his story. They both fill these wants and needs for Val - one more than the other?!
I will say I wish I had more of the guys POV. It was heavily in Val’s POV and in the middle I felt like it was a little repetitive. It definitely started getting more interesting once she was out of her captivity. And things got wild in Vegas on all levels!
If you love spice read this book because there’s a lot 🔥🥵this book totally reminds me of The Vampire Diaries but with mafia. This book does end on a cliffhanger but totally worth it !

Thanks to Natalia Lourose & The Author Agency for this arc. All opinions are my own
What a wild ride it was! Natalia was another new author to me and I was so glad I picked up her book! Lessons in Revenge was the first one in the !Vengeance duet, which featured forced proximity, love triangle and threesome activities. Complex, angsty and spicy. It was definitely one of the steamiest books I have read in a while. I also loved the fact that Natalia approached dark/mafia romance in a different way which was refreshing to read.
Val had one goal and one goal only. To avenge for her father’s death. She was on a mission to murder the Don’s son Nic as payback. Unfortunately it didn’t go as planned and she became Nic’s captive. He offered her a deal and it was simple - her life in exchange for a year at his estate to do whatever he pleased. She agreed in hopes of getting the chance to finish what she started at the end of it.
What she didn’t expect was meeting the caring, supportive and handsome Leo. The bastard son of the Don who also worked for the mob. He stayed with her and comforted her through the toughest of times. He slowly gained her trust and they built a beautiful emotional connection. On the other hand, the devil’s spawn Nic was the complete opposite of Leo. He was ruthless, intimidating and demanding. He kept pushing Val’s boundaries until she broke. Not one but many times. He wanted the deepest of her secrets and soon he made his way into her heart, and also her panties.
Despite the immense hatred Val felt towards Nic, she could not deny the desire she had for him. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts. Val had no way of choosing one brother over the other so she decided to take them both, things got messy, figuratively and and figuratively. The three of them were so hot together oof! Natalia did not hold back on the smut for sure.
Val’s heart might have been claimed by Nic and Leo but she did not forget her end goal. When she had to make a choice to take down the Don or move on in peace, she was at a crossroad. The most unexpected turn of events happened and she was left more broken than she was before. The book did not necessarily end on a cliffhanger but there were unanswered questions that I very much look forward to getting some clarity in book two.
My jaw is absolutely on the floor after that final chapter. I was expecting a twist but definitely not that😅 My heart is broken for Val but that final quote (“I never understood how a person like Nic, like Paulie, could be so cruel. But now I get it. This is how villains are made.”) has made me so excited for Val to come back hit the brothers back harder💅.
I can safely say I loved both Nic and Leo just equally, I just could not choose a favourite. They balance each other- while Nic’s is dark, rough around the edges and is happy to play the role of the villian, Leo is sweet and caring🫶🏼. The chemistry that Val has with BOTH Nic and Leo is just OFF THE CHARTS. The spicy moments were absolutely top tier.
Val I absolutely ADORED HER. My heart broke for her at times as the truth unravels🥺.
Without giving much away this book is a steamy rollercoaster from start to finish. I just could not put this book down! I am looking forward to read the next instalment of Val/Leo/Nic’s story👏🏼
Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts✨
I loved the premise of this book and the plot really intrigued me. I would say there is more spice than plot in this and the plot does get pushed aside at times.
I very much dislike Nic. I don't think he has any redeeming qualities and although Val says she wants the intimacy between the 2, I don't think she actually does. She only sleeps with him because she feels she has to. I hated that. He was horrible!
Leo on the other hand.. what a sweetie!! I loved their dynamic so much. I much preferred their interactions.
I was expecting a twist at the end but it was not what I though it was going to be!!!
Overall an intriguing read with lots of spice! I wonder what's next in store for Val.
Valerie sets the wheels into motion for her revenge, but life has other plans, instead she finds herself stuck between two brothers with her heart belonging to both of them, but when love is mixed with lies heartbreak is inevitable.
When a little seductress walks into his life and tries to take him out, Nic is intrigued by her. Offering her a deal, he’s happy to help her, but nothing in this world is free and in order to get what she wants Valerie must live under his complete control.
“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚, 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪?”
Woah. I need a minute to recover. I knew to expect revenge vibes, but the twists had me whipping my head in all directions, this is definitely one to keep you on your toes. Not only that, the heat this brings is toe-curling, between those lessons and the competitive vibe 🥵🔥 you can expect your toes to get a full workout with this book.
Holy heck what a ride this was. The emotions I had when reading this was insane, but I will say in some scenes it enraged me to the point of wanting to throw my kindle. The FMC Val was strong, sassy and courageous I really enjoyed her character!
The spice between Val and the Colombo brothers was fireeee 🔥 like genuinely I will burn in hell if my kindle history ever goes public 😃

I am screamingggggg. Omg. That was addicting to read. After that ending I need the second book ASAP. 😭
If you like any of these tropes be sure to read this book once it’s out September 13!! : - dark mafia romance - love triangle with brothers - forced proximity - super spicy - revenge
Wow oh wow! This book. The spice. This was my first book by this author and wow does she have me waiting and wanting more. A cliffhanger?? Yup. Has me on the edge of my seat waiting for book 2. I’m a sucker for dark romance and mafia romance, put it together and yum.
Lessons in Revengeis my first read by new to me author Natalia Lourose. Told through multiple POVs, this Dark Romance is the part one ofThe Vengeanceduet series.
Considering this is book one of a two part series, Natalia did a good job in not only setting up the storyline, but also the development of the characters. At least in the case of FMCValerie ‘Val’ Soressi, who we were able to learn about throughout with the unravelling of her layers.
Considering the premise of the story was revenge, it was no surprise it had you riding a wild rollercoaster. One that was contained ups and downs, considering the loops it had you going through when it came to the drama, mystery, angsty-ness and tension surrounding the build up of suspense. Ultimately checking off the components that you would come to expect and find in a Dark Romance narrative IMO.
When it came to the exploration of the relationships, there was a major love triangle between Val and the brothers Leo Colombo and Nicolai ‘Nic’ Colombo. Yet when you have to complete opposites, it was a given that the relations would differ. On the one hand you had Val and Nic, who seemed had temperatures rising from their sexual tension alone. Ultimately resulting in a Red-Hot and Fiery bonfire when they gave into their pleasures. As for Val and Leo, though theirs was slow building, it allowed the for the chemistry to build giving off sparks. Resulting in some Sizzling Spicy yet Passionate steam, but with more emotions giving their relation seemed to run deeper, which you learn along the way in their journey together. It's one of the reasons why Leo ended up being my favourite.
WhilstLessons in Revengewas a good read overall, not going deny there were some things that did get to me. When it came to Val, she did annoy at times with her decisions, behaviour and thoughts, particularly at the end. Ugh it made me want to shake her to make her realise and understand. Although the steam wasn’t an issue per se, it did feel like the storyline would get pushed back to ensure it was at the forefront. And that too a little more often than necessary. Even though it had its importance, since it led to the building of relations. For me personally, it would’ve been nice to see a little more focus on the storyline, especially the characters since there was not much exploration into Leo and Nic, who were very much an enigma throughout.
Not going to lie Natalia surprised me, not only because of my predications being wrong with some of the things it had me thinking would occur, though there is still book two to come. And so there is still a possibility of being right possibly, only time will tell. When it came to the ending ofLessons in Revenge,it definitely caught me off guard, having not expected it at all. And yet it worked so well and had me excited for the next bookStories of Betrayalto come to see which direction Natalie Lourose will take book 2 and end Val, Leo and Nic’s story.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
First off this is book 1 of the duet. Please read triggers as there are lots of issues with abuse murder and kinks. This was mind blowing stuff. Soo much inner turmoil, torture and twists. Val lost her dad at the age of 10 and the revenge was all that's kept her going. She was ready to die after she killed the son (Nic) of her dad's murderer. Only problem she messed up and now she was his captive. He said she will live and get revenge if she gives him 1 year, for him to do as he pleases. He promised to teach her but he is sadistic and is horrible in his teaching. He loves putting fear in her. Then there is Leo his half brother that is stuck in this life too. Where Nic is the devil, Leo is the angel. He was so loving and gentle with her and he was teaching her in different ways to make her stronger. Neither of them liked each other but wanted Val. Val couldn't refuse Nic's rough and degrading side nor Leo's loving and caring side. She craved both darkness and light. The Spicy scenes were sooo hot. You can tell she already loved Leo. But Leo doesn't have much say as Nic is the boss. She had a lot of lessons in murdering. Nic finally shows the real him for a moment and then takes it away by showing his true monster. I wanted to hate Nic but it was hard. You will understand and makes sense, why Val reacts to him the way she does. I love Leo and my heart broke in the end. Can't say much as you need to read it. Wow that ending was not what I was expecting. I think I might finally hate Nic. You see what I mean, it's a hate/love relationship when it comes to him. Wow this book was so much more than I expected. Kept me on the edge throughout. I just didn't want to stop reading, I couldn't stop reading even if I wanted to. Oh and the scenes with both Brother's taking her was just too hot to handle. Now I need book 2 as there is so many questions that need answering.
Favourite Quotes:
“Change happens in your weakest moments . You can’t grow, can’t become something stronger or better if you don’t know where your weaknesses lie."
"It’s funny, before I knew Leo, before he wormed his way into my chest cavity, leaving his footprints across my memory, I wasn’t bothered by loneliness."
“That’s okay, little wolf,” he says with a pinch to my cl't. “You can hate me if it makes you feel better, paint me as the villain in your story. Just remember, it’s my c@ck you’re coming all over.”
" My two boys are arguing over me. Unease rolls through me at the realization. My boys. I see them both as mine."
"Nic is vocal about his ownership, making sure I’m reminded at every chance. But Leo’s been more subtle, working his way into my heart."
"What the f##k is with these brothers and their ungodly skills at worshipping my pu$$y?"
“No matter how far away i got, the two men i met as a naive twenty-year old would always own a piece of my story...and my heart.”
Valerie Soressi had one mission she wanted nothing more than to complete. She wanted to get revenge. After her father was murdered, she took it upon herself to find out who was responsible and end their life by taking away the only person who meant something to her. When her father passed she ended up having to go live with her aunt and uncle who abused her and her cousin Dom.
After she turned 18 she was kicked to the curb and told to fend for herself. She struggled but the one thing that gave her motivation was her plot for revenge.
She found out that Paulie Colombo was the one who ordered for her father to be taken out. Now as much as she wanted to take him out too she knew she had to hit him where it hurt. So she came up with the plan to take out his son Nic instead. She knew the only way to hurt someone is to get rid of the person they love.
One night feeling bold she went to go see Nic but as soon as she pulled the trigger she was tackled and taken to the ground. She awoke in Nic's house and was being held hostage. After she failed to kill him she was frustrated and had almost given up. However, Nic made a deal with her...if she did whatever he said for a year he would let her go and everything would be forgotten.
Reluctantly, Val agrees to the plan and decides that there could be worse things than being held hostage in a giant mansion. However, what didn't expect that even though she hated Nic with all her being she also was attracted to him. She also didn't expect to meet Leo, Nic's brother who was the polar opposite of him. While Nic was water, Leo was oil while Nic was the moon, Leo was the sun. They couldn't be any more different. But maybe that's what Val needed. They each gave her something different and she started to fall for them. But all good things don't last forever!
....I will leave you with that because the ending is crazy and that cliffhanger!!! Can't wait to read the second book in the duet!
Read this book if you like: ❤️ Revenge 🖤 Kidnapping ❤️ Enemies to Lovers 🖤 Forced Proximity ❤️ Love triangle (w/brothers)
What would you do if your father was murdered the only man you lived up to and in doing so this meant you were left with nothing, you had nothing and the only person you had was your cousin. You grew up with Dom and her family but the problem here is her dad wasn;t great, he didn’t want you there. You get to an age and you know the only thing you can do and what you have been thinking about for years is revenge and to get that you don’t care what happens to you after as in the end it will all be worth it.
Thing is revenge comes at a cost and you didn’t get what you wanted but you are told that if you want your revenge then give your life away for a year to Nic and he will help you get that revenge but in doing so you are his and you need to do what he tells you.
You spend your time learning and doing as you are told, if anything you are nothing but a doll being pulled and stretched in every direction but at the same time Nic is there helping you and moulding you. Nic is the sadistic alpha mafia son that has a side to him that should disgust you but it pulls you in it gives you what you call out for and then we have Leo the quiet brother that is always there in the background giving the quiet comfort that you need. He is different to Nic but can he really be trusted, he has a harshness to him too.
Can these two be trusted and what happens when you start to feel more, and you know what you want from life once you get your revenge. Can you really get your revenge but if you do at what cost and even if you don’t what will it cost you.
Boy this book is a nice slow burn of interactions between our three main characters and builds over time. Both Nic and Leo arent good men but they compliment, each other and each give a different element to themselves that Val craves and needs. I got to the end of this story and was look oh my I kinda seen something happening but really did that just happen, and in that my heart breaks, you feel how Val feels. Cant wait for the next installment.
This is my first introduction to Natalia Lourose and I immediately love it. Before I started this book, I didn't know it was a duet. If I had known this, I would have waited until book 2 was released. I hate cliffhangers, they make me very restless.
But that aside, I rightly thought it was a very good story. Val, the FMC is looking for revenge after her father was murdered 10 years ago by a mafia figure. She expects to get her revenge and be killed at the same time. But nothing turns out as she expected. She enters into a deal with Nic, the MMC to be his for a year. she agrees. During this year she also develops feelings for his brother. It will be a real love triangle with many plot twists, which leave me with a scared heart.
I love that it is told from the point of view of the 3 characters. This way you get some more inside knowledge of Nic.
I can't wait until November when the second part of the duet will be released.
🅕🅐🅥🅞🅡🅘🅣🅔 🅠🅤🅞🅣🅔🅢 I want everything from you, Valerie, especially your honesty.
I shouldn't care. And trust me, I've tried. I've tried to shut you out of my mind, forget you exist. But you exist in this house. I see you everywhere, smell your scent as soon as I walk through the front doors. And I. Shouldn't. Care. But I do. If my brother hurts you, I'll kill him, tesoro.
You love this, don't you? You want to pretend you don't have a choice. You want to pretend I force you, don't you? Or do you want Leo to think I force you? That's it, huh baby? Don't want to admit to the nice brother that you love being a dirty little slut for me? That all I have to do is look at you and you'll drop your panties for me. That this pussy is always drenched for me.

This is the first book by this author that I have read and it definitely won’t be the last, even if this wasn’t a duet! I particularly enjoyed the way this author dropped snippets at the beginning to tantalise and intrigue readers.
Valerie is quite a complex person, so much so she found herself learning new aspects about herself that she had no idea about. Nic being the main catalyst for this even if his motive might not have been for the reason of self discovery. I found Valerie more likeable as she grew a backbone, mind you, Nic would scare the pants off me too as any psychopath would.
Nic and Leo, half brothers, but quite different and as Nic says—it’s all in the upbringing. Nic is Valerie’s devil on her shoulder to Leo’s angel. Nic really intrigued me, I can’t say I instantly liked him or even liked him that much throughout the story, but his character does fascinate me. 😆 Leo I preferred, but again, there is something holding me back from fully embracing his character. The physical chemistry between Valerie and the brothers is almost tangible and the steamy scenes are a testimony to this fact.
Now, before anyone gets snippy, it does end on a cliffhanger, but a good one that only intrigues and makes you hope things will eventually turn out for Valerie.
What to Expect: ❤️Dark Mafia Romance ❤️Love Triangle with Brothers ❤️Illicit Deals ❤️Forced Proximity ❤️Heroine out for revenge
I am absolutely shook at what I read. This book was crazy crazy crazy. It had instances where there were multiply POV’s but mostly was told through the FMC Val’s POV. Val tells the story of how two men who wrote themselves as a piece of her story and her heart as a naive 21 year old came about. It all started when Val decided to seek revenge in the name of her father by “getting rid” of NY’s mob boss son Nic. In this attempt to seek revenge she fails and ends up making a deal with the devil. One year of her life for “lessons in revenge” she can seek against his father. It’s a rollercoaster because she knows she’s going to have to perform “duties” with him and is scared that she actually wants that to happen. What she doesn’t expect to find out is Nic having a brother. Leo is the exact opposite of Nic where he brings the light, sweetness, care, Nic brings darkness, dirty degrading words. The daylight she lives for and the darkness she craves. She wants them both but will her need for revenge change after being with both these men or will she finally be ready to face her revenge. The deceit being spewed by both brothers made me go crazy with like a “hellooo share her dude, it makes for a sexier time” but I see the dark and damaged thinking between these three and it’s hard to reveal your hand when sooner or later it’ll be used against you.
Thank you to Natalia Lourose and The Author Agency, I’m still shook from reading this one. It was hot, dark, troubling, hot again, and ultimately filled with the demand for REVENGE. So so good, can’t wait for the second book! P.S. this playlist is *chefs kiss* so good!! ❤️🖤
This book is perfect for those who want the grittiness of a mafia romance and enjoy a bit of a love triangle (though it read a bit closer to Why Choose for me), want quality spice and lots of it, but aren’t necessarily looking for an insta-love connection between characters.
At its core Lessons in Revenge has everything I love in a dark romance novel. Vendettas, enemies to lovers, morally gray (if not morally black) characters, multiple love interests… I could go on but I think the point is made.
I was instantly intrigued by the idea of the main character, Val, setting out to exact her lethal revenge on a man she has every reason to hate, only to end up as his protégé of sorts and his partner in the bedroom.
Well. The hate aspect of it all definitely delivered. I’m still not really sure of personally classify the relationship between Val and Nic as ‘love’ or anything close to it. I’m forever rooting for the villain to get the girl but in this case there were times when I wanted to kick him off a bridge. My feelings on his brother, and the second love interest, Leo, Pegasus weren’t quite as strong but I still had a few bones to pick with him.
I think the redemption for me is that you can easily start to see that there is so much more to Nic that meets the eye; I’m hopeful book two in the series will delve into his character more to explain why he is… well, the way he is.
Despite my conflicted opinions of Nic I actually think he may be the better of the two for Val in the end. Leo is a dream, and in the beginning I swore I’d be firmly on his team, but I felt he lacked any real follow through when it came to Val and his so-called feelings for her. I found myself wanting him to do more, say more, defend more, etc.
After the plot twist at the end, though, I’m honestly not sure what to expect from Val next. But am I ready to find out? Absolutely. Yes. If my earlier opinions sounded negative or unsatisfied I’m here to say they’re not. Not really. I surprisingly enjoyed the fact that nothing in this book is truly black, white, or what you’re expecting. It added a dose of realism I appreciated. The way things are left at the end have me eager to see how the rest of the pieces fall. Definitely a very solid start in this duet.
Thank you to The Author Agency for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Did I finish this book or this book finish me ?!?! The fact that I basically inhaled this book in 24 hours, says a lot about me tbh 😂😂
When I started this book, I had zero expectations but by the end of it I was like bruh why you gotta leave me hanging like this. Specially since the author has announced the second book, I can't wait to get my hands on it 😭
The book revolves around Valerie, who just like a normal chick wants to avenge her father's death, by killing the person that killed him, which results in her ending up with two brother's [Nico and Leo.]
Throughout the book, I felt she had a hot and cold reaction to them, one second she liked them and the next she didn't. While her character was admirable it gave a little childish energy to me but we are aiming for the stars in book 2!
Now don't get me started on the brother's. Nico as dark and twisted he is, there is something about him that so compelling even through the book. I loved his personality and specially his mouth (iykyk) pair that up with his one liners and there we have ourselves a perfect villain that I want in real life.
Leo, on the other hand, showed promise. He was this caring, kind and equally delicious brother. No wonder Val showed more interest in him from the start. I loved the way he always looked for her and managed to keep her safe whenever he could.
But, Leo, Leo, Leo why you gotta do my girl like that in the end. I had hight hopes from you, Val had high hopes from you.
The ending left me flabbergasted, I wanted to smack Leo and hoped that the second book comes out sooner.

“He’s the king and I’m the pawn. But this pawn plans on winning.”
DAMN!!! This story was so good. It was dark, depraved, twisted, bloody, violent and deliciously spicy.
The story follows a broken young woman dead set on dishing out revenge to those that had a hand in killing her father. Valerie thought that she was ready to transform herself into the femme fatale she needed to be in order to kill without remorse. But she is a naive young woman and really has no idea what she is getting herself into. Unfortunately for her, she makes a drastic mistake that ends up putting her in more danger and directly in the path of her sworn enemies.
Valerie finds herself in the hands of Nic and Leo, brothers that are completely different, one is extremely dark and violent, and the other a killer but with a softer side. Both men consume her thoughts and force her to confront her feelings and darkness. The interactions between the three of them are filled with anger, violent outbursts, emotional turmoil, desire and passion. They also created some very spicy moments together that I could not get enough of.
This story was fantastic and filled with suspense, mystery and so many little twists and turns that after the way it all ended, I have been left with lots of answered questions. What the hell is going to happen now!!!
This was my first Natalia Lourose book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Lessons in Revenge is the first book in a duet and cannot be read as a standalone.
Valerie sets out to get revenge for the murder of her father. She intends to shoot Nicolai Colombo, but misses. Nic takes her and strikes up a deal – she’ll stay with him for a year and he’ll give her lessons in revenge. But it isn’t only Nic teaching her; his brother, Leo, also teaches Val.
Nic, what can I say? The man is an a**hole. He’s constantly degrading her, and his lessons are harsh. There’s no sugarcoating anything with Nic. What he says goes. But, he truly isn’t as he makes himself out to be. He’s more of a morally gray man.
Val is quite naive, at first. She doesn’t realize just how dark Nic and Leo’s world (and her world, to some extent) truly is. Also, when she speaks to Paulie (the brothers’ father), it is even more obvious that she is naive. But she slowly learns how she has to act in their world.
Leo is so sweet with Val. He is taken with her the moment he sees her. He’s much more patient with her than Nic is, and he tries to protect her from the worst of what they deal with.
Now, the spice in this story was HOT. Nic with his degradation, Leo with his praise, the sharing…yeah.
Moving on. This story has mystery, suspense, action, and plot twists. The ending was shock after shock after shock. I’m a little mad about something that happened. Okay, very mad. So, I am now impatiently waiting for the next book.
Tropes: Dark mafia romance Love triangle with brothers Illicit deals Forced proximity Heroine out for revenge
4 1/2 stars I wrote this review for Saucy Reviews on Kinky Korner.
Valerie was ready to die the night she walked into Nic Colombo’s restaurant with a loaded gun and the insatiable need to avenge her father’s death.
But sometimes, life has other plans. Lessons to be taught. Stories to be told.
And that night both paths were set into motion. Turns out, the Colombo brothers make great teachers. In exchange for her life, one would teach herhow to hate, And the other would teach her how to love
The two brothers fall on opposite sides of the spectrum. Nic is nothing like Leo. Angel, devil. Hero, villain. Love, hate. Still, something is different about him.
She’s learnt to accept the differences between the two men. Each gives her something the other can’t.
I am speechless. I couln’t have loved this book more also that ending 😀 @natalialourose you got me.
The spice, the story line/buildup… also for once a story that puts family up above everything else including love and lust.
Did i love Leo(angel) more than Nic (devil) YES I DID! And to be honest I almost had predictions how the story would end🤦🏼♀️
Shock on me! I’ve never been so wrong! Don’t even try to guess…you’re not going to get it unless you read the book for yourself🤣 BEST ENDING EVER!
Thank you @theauthor.agency for this beautiful arc. I hope more people get to read and love this book as much as i did

First of all before I start my review I would like to thank Natalia for giving me the opportunity to read and review the book for free, by allowing me to have an ARC of it. That being said all thoughts, feelings and opinions are my own.
This is my first book by the author and I throughly enjoyed it. I was a little sceptical to start off with (I am quite scaptical with new authors even if the book, like in this case, intregues me. I have been burned before) but welcomed the fact that I could find a new favourite and boy have I. This book is the first book in the Vengeance duet and I already want book 2 like now, as a bonus I have already signed up for the second one but shhhh. All it took me to finish was 2 sittings, I could ahve finished it in one had I actaully started the book at a decent time and not nearly time for me to go to bed.
The book follows Valerie, our lovable but stuborn main character, who is on a mission to avenge her fathers death. She makes one big mistake and finds herself with no other option but to agree with her enemy.
Nic is lowkey my favourite so I can not wait to see what happens in book two. I do hope we see more of Dom in the second book too.
THE CLIFFHANGER IS INSANE AND I NEED BOOK 2 LIKE RIGHT NOW
***BOOK REVIEW*** Name: Lessons in Revenge Author: Natalie Lourose Rate: 4.75/5 🌟 Spice: 3.5/5 🌶️ Genre: Dark Mafia Romance
~ As everyone knows Dark Romance is my go to!!!! So I just couldn’t pass this one up!!! This book is totally worth it, it got me hooked from the beginning. I didn’t want to stop reading it till I got to the end!!! Speaking of that ending... What a Cliffhanger… so be prepared!!! ~Lessons in Revenge is a Duet Novel by Natalie Lourose. It’s a Dark Mafia Romance in which Valerie FMC is seeking revenge for her father’s death due to the fact that she felt that his death was an injustice especially on how they left him there in the middle of the farm. All she knew was that her father did run a casino like a “normal” business man. Valerie did not know that her father kept a lot of secrets hidden from her, in which she later finds out. Before all this comes into view, Valerie tries to get her revenge by killing Nic Colombo, the son of the man who placed the hit on her father. Let’s just say she failed completely and got herself into a lot of trouble by getting caught and accepting this deal with the devil himself (Nic). What type of deal does Nic offer Valerie? Valerie eventually also meets Leo Colombo, the half-brother of Nic and let’s just say things about to get very hot!!!!! Valerie sure enjoys the crap out of these two men!!!!
