Tachibana Higuchi (樋口橘, HIGUCHI Tachibana), born 1976-03-16 , is a Japanese manga artist. In year 1996, she first made her debut work in Bessatsu Hana to Yume's 5th issue, entitled 5 Gatsu no Sakura (『5月のサクラ』?).
During an interview with Tokyopop, she gave a detailed account of how she started as a mangaka.
"I first submitted a manga story a while after I graduated from high school. Up until then I was studying for the entrance examinations for the Art University, and as part of that, I sometimes drew manga and four-panel strip comics for fun.
"Because I was conscious of the fact that I had started drawing manga in earnest at a later age, I think my progress during the beginning on drawing and storytelling techniques was fast as I frantically tried to absorb everything I could learn about creating manga. After the serialization of the story began, as I got busy, I was so desperate to submit it on time that I feel that the drawings probably haven’t improved much compared to before. During the serialization of the manga, I think my story telling techniques improved more as I concerned myself with how to catch the attention of the readers, how well one can incorporate what the readers are seeking into the story."
Her current ongoing work is Gakuen Alice.

très confus, beaucoup trop de personnages et d’histoires personnelles qui s’entremêlent, on s’éloigne de la sorcière originelle mais mon affection pour cet univers et ses dessins ne fait que croître et m’empêche de noter plus bas.

As someone who grew up with anime and adores it with all her soul, but has become disenchanted with recent releases, I was pleasantly surprised to find Champignon no Majo’s anime adaptation so enjoyable. I had to jump into the manga immediately.
I am not the biggest fan of dedicating a full chapter to detail a new character’s backstory, which is why I’m giving this three stars. Still, the story is cosy, fun and really lovely. Although I’ll admit, I’m getting impatient with how slow Lizl’s growth is, and I wish the story spent more time letting Luna do things as opposed to have other characters talk about her, because she is indeed the heart of the this story.
I am not the biggest fan of dedicating a full chapter to detail a new character’s backstory, which is why I’m giving this three stars. Still, the story is cosy, fun and really lovely. Higuchi Tachibana, c’est une autrice que j’apprécie depuis ma lointaine première rencontre avec lui pour son univers drôle et barré, plein d’émotion et plus profond qu’elle ne le laisse supposer dans sa narration déjantée. Ce nouveau tome est un savoureux mais fouillis mélange de cela.
Dur dur de replonger dans l’univers de notre Sorcière aux champignons. La parution est superbe lente, la narration aussi et elle est touffue avec cela, alors j’avoue avoir été un peu perdue au début. Mais l’émotion fut là pour m’accrocher et de bout en bout c’est elle qui m’a fait basculer et adorer cette lecture, alors même que je me sentais perdue parfois dans son histoire.
Centré sur un nouveau personnage : le magicien du vent, ce tome revient aussi longuement sur Lisé, notre maudit que Luna, la sorcière aux champignons a pris sous son aile et protège des autres magiciens noirs et blancs. Il doit passer un test pour voir si on va le laisser en vie. L’occasion de revenir sur lui, son lien avec Luna et sa triste destinée. J’ai été très touchée par tout ce que l’autrice développe autour du lui et du thème de la mémoire qui fou le camps. C’était une sorte de superbe parabole d’Alzheimer pour moi mais avec un personnage enfant ce que j’ai trouvé original. Un petit air de Benjamin Button peut-être 😉
Puis, il y a aussi toute la magie du titre, littéralement, dans l’utilisation que l’autrice fait du merveilleux en le mettant à sa sauce. C’est souvent perturbant, propice à se perdre, avec de nombreux détours, une narration foisonnante et bavarde, des personnages qui portent des masques et sont plus profonds, plus heurtés, que leur masque jovial le dit. On se retrouve avec un fort joli décor, sorte de conte de fées revisité de manière comique et âpre à la fois. Les lieux font rêver, ici le palais du magicien des oiseaux après la demeure de Luna. Les personnages ont toujours de belles tenues inspirées. Leur magie est rigolote et pleine de sens. Il y a une belle profondeur chez chacun d’eux.
D’ailleurs on sent le désir chez l’autrice, et son éditeur apparemment, d’étoffer cet univers. Ils dotent ainsi Gus, le magicien du vent, d’une vraie histoire et de sentiments complexes. On revient avec lui sur l’interdiction de tomber amoureux pour les magiciens noirs, surtout de quelqu’un de l’autre camp. Et de manière poignante, l’autrice nous raconte l’histoire du maître de Luna et les sentiments que Gus est obligé de taire, ce qu’il enseigne aussi à son nouvel élève un peu dans la même situation que lui. C’est classique mais poignant.
Les dessins de l’autrice, eux, m’enchantent toujours et me font passer des heures à admirer les planches, ce qui ne m’arrange pas vu comme elle est bavarde en plus xD
Ce fut donc à nouveau un merveilleux moment que cette lecture où le travail sur les questions de mémoire et d’amour à sens unique qu’on ne peut imposer m’ont touchée. J’adore l’univers et la sensibilité d’Higuchi Tachibana. Elle me charme par son humour bon enfant qui cache de belles profondeurs et fêlures. Je la trouve néanmoins souvent un peu trop bavarde et fouillis et elle a tendance à me perdre. Heureusement qu’elle a l’art et la manière de me rattraper à chaque fois.

C’est une lecture qui m’a paru très longue.
Comme les tomes précédents, le récit est très lent. Habituellement, ça ne me pose aucun souci, au contraire, j’apprécie ça : ça m’apaise. Cette fois, ça m’a ennuyée.
C’est fou, mais tout m’a laissée indifférente. Je n’ai pas pris de plaisir à lire ce cinquième tome.
Les dessins sont toujours aussi beaux, mais je n’ai aucune envie de m’attarder dessus.

les premiers tomes étaient brouillon et peu clairs. l'histoire est plus lisible désormais mais ne m'intéresse pas. Je vais revendre les 5 tomes

Luna, the Champignon Witch: An ageless Black Magician who is believed to spread poison everywhere she goes.
Lis: A White Magician, born a Child of Ruin and 'destined' to destroy the world.

The fakeout romance in the opening of this series was the perfect way to set up how tragic it is to be Champignon Witch. As a former Child of Ruin, she has been relentlessly harassed by the townspeople and has only managed to make three friends in over 50 years. She has to constantly remind herself that she is not alone. She yearns for connection, wherever she can find it, even though love itself is a poison to all Black Magicians.
Lis is doomed, unless he's able to learn magic and drive away all negative thoughts, lest he succumb to his nature as a Child of Ruin. His desire to be there for Luna drives him and, as a White Magician, this love fuels his powers. He later grows into a deep despair, convincing himself that his mere presence is condemning Luna to an even lonelier existence.
The worldbuilding here is amazing. You get bonus pages after every chapter with insight into the decisions made for the entire series. You see the author's thought process regarding the designs and clothing of characters... the significance of background objects... the history behind a mural you can't even see on the page... etc. There has been a lot of care taken to craft a world in which the Black and White Magicians operate and the author has given great thought to how these two organizations function on a regular basis.
I really enjoy the dialogue here. There are a lot of particularly touching moments to be seen.
"I'd scattered so many things away until that moment, and of all the sights I've ever seen, that was the most beautiful. Seeing it was painful, but learning that something this beautiful existed inside of me made me think better of myself who'd only ever seen utterly filthy things until that moment. I thought that all those idiots on the streets must be seeing the same sort of beautiful scenery in different shades."
"I keep craving something kind that can fill up my hollow heart. I keep on going, supported by this thin thread. I can't stay in anyone's life, I don't have anyone to walk beside me. I'm just passing by, like the wind. Where am I going by carrying this emptiness?"
Would you believe both of the above quotes are from a side character?
The Caterpillar Guardian's only appearance made me cry with this lovely quote: "Even when things are tough and I feel like giving up... the memory of the first moment when I felt the joy of being alive resurrects me. In this world where he (The Green Magician) is gone, this precious memory and the mission to protect the flower field give me the strength to live."
I am caught up with Chapter 29, which is the latest release. The Green Magician and the White Magician King 'meet' in a field of flowers bloomed from the seeds of unrequited love and the author's two verse poem "Green Eyes" seems to establish the conflict these two characters will come to experience. Doomed yaoi time. I will be tuning in.

J'aime énormément les choix graphiques mais vraiment l'histoire n'est pas présentee clairement (alors qu'elle va lentement) , je vais peut être tout relire d'une traite pour voir si je suis mieux parce que c'est dommage
