I enjoy books that ground practice in theory and this book does just that. Only a tenth of the book can be said to be directly relating to the practice of dog training but by the time you get to this point you are primed and ready to take what is put forward in stride.
The major downside of the book is that the foundation is built on a secular view of evolution and this has, what I will call, superstructure implications that the book does not properly address. In the defence of the authors I do not think these implications would have even come up in the discussion of what the book would cover.
Overall, the book is well put together and very informative. I am looking forward to reading other books in the K9 Behavior series
This book does a good job teaching about how to read your K9. It also does through protocols at the end of the book that help me understand the importance of planning your training sessions.
Great approach to training methodology, started reading when Nesto was 6 months and finished it when he was 10 months. So I took my time and regretted it!
Methodology is quite interesting and sets the groundwork.
