Lost Race of the Giants: The Mystery of Their Culture, Influence, and Decline throughout the World

Rate this book
An exploration of mythological and archaeological evidence for prehistoric giants • Examines the many corresponding giant mythologies throughout the world, such as the Greek and Roman titans, Norse frost giants, and the biblical Nephilim • Reveals recent finds of giant skeletons in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and India • Explains how giants passed on their sophisticated culture and civilization to humanity before being wiped out in the great age of cataclysms and floods Giants are a cornerstone of the myths, legends, and traditions of almost every culture on Earth. Stories of giants are often considered fantasies of the ancients or primitive attempts to explain natural phenomena, but archaeological discoveries of 10- and 12-foot skeletons--many of which have been suppressed--confirm the existence of a forgotten golden age of giants before recorded history. Patrick Chouinard examines the staggering number of corresponding giant mythologies throughout the world, such as the Greek and Roman titans, Norse frost giants, the Hindu Daityas, the biblical Nephilim, the Celtic Formorach, the Sumerian Anunnaki, and the multitude of myths in which the sky or world is held aloft on the shoulders of a giant. He links these stories to Atlantis as well as other legends of prehistoric civilizations lost to cataclysm and great floods whose survivors spawned the rise of ancient civilizations. The author reveals how physical remains of giant-size peoples have been found on almost every continent, including recent finds in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and northern India as well as hundreds of excavations of giant mummies and skeletons across the United States, corresponding directly with Native American accounts of red-haired giants. He also examines reports from famous explorers such as Magellan, Sir Francis Drake, and Desoto of their encounters with giants on the North American continent. Revealing how giants represent the true earthborn race, Chouinard explains how they engaged in open conflict with the extraterrestrial gods who created humanity for forced labor and how they passed their sophisticated culture and civilization on to humanity before being nearly wiped out in the great age of cataclysms.

Very interesting read... not from a Biblical perspective which I originally thought when I first started reading this book, but there is a lot of interesting myths and legends about Giants throughout the world and they seem to be all very similar ...

As long as I can remember I have had a fascination with Giants. They were real! From the Bible to Norse Deities to Gigantopithecus and Meganthropus the author dives deep into the history of the Giants and they're tales. They were all over from Europe to North America, Atlantis and they're destruction during the great flood. There are accounts of these Giants in mythology and numerous 19th century newspapers. Seven, eight, nine and even up to eighteen feet tall. Some with armor, swords, crowns, copper bracelets, red hair, dark hair, double rows of teeth, the whole gambit. The fossil record supports these claims. For some reason the Smithsonian and others have suppressed these finds. If you are a history buff, you must read this book. It's time you realized the truth of our past is very cloudy and a lost race of these Giants existed on this planet. As mentioned above, one of my favorite topics!

This book summarises the "lost race of giants" in mythological and cultural histories through out the world. It also briefly covers some of the giant skeleton findings and excavations. I really wish there was more information included in this book and some photos/diagrams would have been nice. There was nothing "new" or that I hadn't read before somewhere else. I really like Patrick Chouinard's writing style - there isn't any redundant repetitiveness and no pointless waffling. I would consider this an introductory text to the Lost Race of Giants, but if you have read other material on this subject, this book offers nothing new.

I'm giving this boom 3 stars because I enjoyed roaming the many WHAT IFs. I can't say that I consider this well researched, but it certainly seems well curated and, as such, entertains. There's quite a bit of swagger in here, quite a bit that is presented and proof and evidence when it clearly isn't. Still, the mythology is there, the religious texts are there, fairytales are there ... it is an interesting world to think into - what if all of that wasn't just people trying to make sense of the world with stories and metaphors, what if there actually had been a race of giants? Everything that's presented as proof ... well, nice try, but again I didn't mind - great fun either way.

I have a few nitpicks about this book, though.

First of all, on page 3, the author writes that Carl Sagan "made a heroic appeal on behalf of Velikovsky." This is the same Carl Sagan that attacked Velikovsky's theories and even mocked Velikovsky's theories in the first version of the TV series "Cosmos."

On page 92, the author comes close to stating what is the biggest problem with "Ancient Astronaut" theories. After talking about how Atlanteans taught the remaining humans about technology, he asks: "Where did the Atlanteans and Lemurians get *their* technology?"

On page 179, the author wrote: "[Aristotle] was highly regarded as n intellect of supreme quality and measure, perhaps rivaling Plato in this regard." It is generally acknowledged that Aristotle's theories about physics and biology set science back about half a millennium. (For instance, Aristotle said that heavier objects fell faster. It wasn't until Galileo tried this out that anyone had any doubts.)

And one thing that seemed to come up over the course of the book is the variety of heights of the giants, meaning there probably wasn't "a race" of giants, so much as "several races" of giants.

This book I'd typical of its genre. The theories are intriguing, but evidence is always just out of reach. I want to believe in ancient civilizations, but at some point I need more than hearsay and speculation. This book was not as much about giants as you would think. more about prehistory before the cataclysm.

A very interesting book. I couldn't put it down. A fascinating look at the cover-up's regarding the human family. Giant humans and giant Sloths , Giant bears and giant Sabre tooth Tigers definitely existed. Somehow academia doesn't like this fact. Giant humans are a fact. Very readable.
