A harrowing tale that I wish relied on dystopia and not reality. Our world is in a mess and this story perfectly encapsulates that. It has resparked the anger I feel for women and what we are forced to go through.

A huge well done to Harriet for this book. It's only a short read (around the 20 pages mark), but it's incredibly effective. This book brought a tear to my eye, even just at 20 pages long, which is saying alot as usually I'm a tough cookie even with long sad books. It just felt so wrong, when Maya was trying to cross the border for help, I felt like I was reading some dystopia world story. The fact that this happens in real life.....I just have no words. The fact they couldn't help her despite the pregnancy no longer being safe....once again, I have no words. A very tough read for sure, but a very important one.

I recommend it to really get an insight into what is going on in the world at the minute and how this may affect so many people....especially if you're on the fence about this situation. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and it's important to respect that, but it's also important to educate ourselves on these topics and look at both sides before making a strong opinion.

There is some helpful and caring information in this book too. Once again, a huge credit to Harriet for this....it must have been so mentally draining to write, but her passion for helping others is strong and that can be clearly be seen. A short but immensely powerful and emotional story. I can't even begin to imagine the horror and pain of this happening. Bravo to Harriet for putting this awful situation down on paper. I really felt the emotion and gut-wrenching agony.

I know that a lot of people are angry with the whole Roe v. Wade thing, and I also know that there will always be people with radical views on both sides, but the scenarios in the book are a far cry from reality (exaggeration was the intention, I assume).

If the book was about a small community with extreme beliefs, it would have been not only more believable, but also highly suspenseful.

Just when the feeling of being trapped begins to bloom, it quickly unravels, not giving the plot time to unfold on its own.

The writing style is just descriptive enough while retaining a fast pace.

Overall, not a bad, quick read if you want to pass the time (or if you're angry with the decision of the court).

A quick, jam packed story about the struggles we face here in the US after the controversial overturning of Roe v Wade. But don't let the length of this story fool you; Everend gives credence to the damages and effects of this devastating decision through her characters and situational awareness. All proceeds go to NARAL Pro Choice America as well.

A hard-hitting, terrifying prediction for American women, the author's passion for the right to choose and her support for NARAL pro-choice America is inspiring.

Aborted Justice
This book is a sad and dark read. It’s a dark read because it reflects reality. The writing is clear, concise, and to the point. It’s not necessarily a story that I think you’d enjoy reading, it doesn’t bring about pleasure. It shines a light on an unfortunate reality.
The story makes me feel both emotional and physical pain. I remember clutching my side, as I remembered the pain of when I endured an ovarian cyst rupturing.
Harriet did a lot of research and you can all but feel the character’s pain when her Fallopian tubes rupture.
This is an important read, and I highly recommend him.
The story is available for purchase by a donation through NARAL pro choice. Please follow Harriet on Instagram and support her work.

H. Everend brings us this amazing real world view on the importance of how abortion should be a right, a major healthcare concern and how it should be up to the woman herself to make that decision. It should be a choice. It shouldn’t be up to the government or anyone that is not in their shoes. Pro-life y pro-bullshit, and everyone wants to play the “im so holy,” card yet they close their eyes and turn the other cheek to the rising problem of housing, basic health care in decline and how there are millions of children out there in fostercare because they either had shitty parents or they are orphans. No one wants to talk about that, huh? But please, lets continue having babies and let these abandon or abused children grow up and be serial killers…
Read this novel and change my mind. Go ahead. Job well done H. Everend!

An outstanding short by this author. This short packed a punch straight to my gut...just as the author intended because a light has to be shone into the issues that people dare not to speak about and Everend did it with a remarkable and beautifully haunting narrative. Although it is a short piece, it delivers exactly the scenario that many women might now stare down the barrel of and I, for one, felt every word written. Beautifully and gut wrenchingly emotive, it is everything that I could have wanted to feel . A super important read and the tragedy is...as I closed the book I realised that this could in fact be a reality. An outstanding piece with so much emotion but stark clarity, this is incredibly written.

A lot of my rating has to do with the AI generated audiobook that I listened to for this. The story itself was intriguing and definitely a good one to ponder. Not my type personally but a good read for a new perspective
