Nacre takes the reader through the generational traumas that bleeds into romantic traumas that bleeds into self-reclamation if only we allow ourselves to look inward. When we pinpoint the hunger for external love down to its origin, starvation can grow into selective satiation from self-love and divine love. Like an oyster shell, the heart becomes a portal that transmutes all disturbances from the deep into something crystalline, pure, and valuable.
Beautifully written poetry. Sharp, piercing and also comforting. I haven't read a poetry book in quite some time but this was a really great re-entry. This book really touched on some heavy subjects in a lovely way!
Overall it was good, it just didn't stand out much. It is average modern poetry. If you like modern poets like Rupi Kapor and Amanda Lovelace, I definitely recommend giving this one a read.
The language in this collection of poetry is very fluid and beautiful. It is both light and airy with some heavier elements at times. I appreciated this quick read.
🖋️ Although I thoroughly enjoy reading and writing poetry, Nacre just is not cutting it for me – it comes across like a discovery of big words from a word-a-day-calendar and placed oddly so as to sound academic. It, and the misandry, was not working for me. 🗑 Conversely, other readers may find this collection of poems their oyster with a cultured pearl inside.
