again, this series never fails to amaze me. things just keep getting better in this book-- the tension between frank and gerard always gets me all emotional and mikey and ray's relationship with eachother does the same ... everyone's relationships with eachother make me emotional, for that matter, it's written so well and feels so *real.*
+ pete is so goofy in this book i love him!
i love when gerard talks about his relationship with god and the church and catholicism, about his beliefs and how they line up with the church and what god has done for him.. i'm not even christian, in fact, i have religious trauma related to christianity, but he makes it seem so appealing. i totally get those people who say unholyverse made them catholic because it sucks me in like it's nothing. so good!!!!!!! GAH!!!!!!!!!

MCR not being a band but instead being a supernatural fighting force lead by priest!Gerard having to save Pete Wentz's life is exactly the kind of story I am sitting down and reading every word of. The amount of Buffy references hits, the amount of accurate Fall Out Boy lore hits, and the pining between Gerard and Frank is actually insane in a way that has more chemistry than half the romance books I've read this year. The major character death in this did make my heart hurt, and I liked that after the first book focused on Frank's perspective, this one focused on Mikey's.
I am apparently going to be reading the next novel length fic in the series because I am invested and life is too short to pretend MCR/Buffyverse fics are not exactly what I need to be distracted from the horrors of the world right now.

Me gustó mucho la verdad, que tuviera otro punto de vista lo hizo más guay, aunque también me hubiera gustado que siguiera desde el punto de vista de Frank, pero los recursos que usa la autora para contar ciertas cosas también me moló. Hubo una ship que no me esperaba y fue para bien la verdad. Se me hizo bastante corto y ameno. El final... buah. En cuanto lo acabé fui directa a seguir el siguiente.

yes, i continued the catholicism-based mcr fanfic series. yes, i intend to finish all three parts. and yes, i will log them there to boost my reading goal. no further questions, please.....

anyway the first part was better in terms of plot and pacing. however i still had tons of fun bc how could i not, when i'm reading about pete wentz of fall out boy be drained of his life force by necromancers and the mcr scooby gang (led by priest gerard way ofc) has to save him?
