Two dude-bros, one beautiful femme boy, and a game of gay chicken that goes badly awry…
It’s fair to say my best friend Mat and I are looking for trouble when we head out for a wild night on the town, and boy, do we find it. We find it in the form of Trouble, a guy with long, silky black hair, doe eyes, and thick, fleshy lips. Sweat glitters down his spine and he moves like there’s music in his soul. Every eye in the place in on him. He’s magnetic. The second we see him, we want him. We both do.
Suddenly, the fact we thought we were straight doesn’t seem all that important.
Trouble turns our lives upside down. He makes us do things we’ve never done. He makes us want things we’ve never wanted either.
He makes me look at Mat in way that’s brand new, too.
Everything is changing. Nothing is as it was.
There’s only one thing that’s certain anymore - Mat and I both want to get into Trouble.
Triple Trouble is the second book in The Situationship Series. It can be enjoyed as part of the series, or as a standalone novel.
Triple Trouble is an MMM romance featuring a double bi awakening, a triple serving of steam and enough sweetness to give you a sugar rush. Use the look inside feature and scroll up to the copyright page to see if this is the book for you.
I'm Jesse, and I write contemporary and paranormal MM romance.
Whether my characters are born magical, or whether magic is something they make between the sheets, I strive to take the reader into the mind of the narrator. My ultimate goal is to leave the reader feeling like they’ve made a new friend or have spent a few hours flirting with a brand-new book boyfriend.
I love coffee, chocolate and daydreaming, in no particular order. I love conflicted characters, lust at first sight and angst – no seriously, ALL the angst. Give it to me!
Mattie and Will are a lot of things, dude-bros, roommates, best friends. But most of all, both are totally straight. That is until they end up at a gay bar for a friend’s birthday and get hit by a train. That train is Trouble. A beautiful, cocky, femme twink. The first guy they are attracted to, the first guy they take home to have sex with, the first person ever they have threesome with together. And it’s earth-shattering for them.
When they wake up the next day they are alone. Trouble’s gone. I loved so much how they talked then, about what happened the previous night, when they seriously crossed lines in their friendship they never have before. They talked about it!!!! Didn’t go all weird on each other and pretend it didn’t happen until (oh surprise) find themselves in the same situation again. I LOVED THAT SO MUCH!! Loved their bone-deep friendship so so hard.
What to say about Trouble… for more than half the book I didn’t like him very much. He was almost like fairy-godmother who helps baby gays (or bis) to discover their sexuality. He was so detached even tho he was soooo into their play with the two friends but held almost everything about himself back. We (as well as Mattie and Will) don’t learn anything about him. And while I was intrigued to find out what it was about him, he got more unlikable to me by the second.
In the end, I have no idea what the fuss was about, really.
I was honestly only invested in Mattie and Will becoming lovers but I haven’t gotten much of it - BECAUSE EVERYTHING revolved around Trouble for them. Romance-wise this was very unsatisfying for me. But at least it was a super hot read, but also way too long for the book's story.
This was my second book by this author and I think I'm done now. I guess their books are just not for me.
************** The Situationship Series
Book 1 - The Step Bro Situation Book 2 - Triple Trouble - 2.75 stars
I loved Drix from Step-bro Situation and couldn’t wait for his book. So much dichotomy. So much harmony. This was so good. I was not expecting the poetic writing style.
MMM Soft boy/hard boy Double bi-awakening Childhood best friends Co-dependency and cuddles High steam 🔥 No angst
don’t mind me…just skimmed through this for the spice, mainly, and even that wasn’t anything to write home about. idk, might just be a me problem tho.🤷🏻♀️
once again, the writing style, pacing, and rushed relationship development/dynamics just didn’t work for me. liked the idea of the book tho—bffs who fall for each other while falling for another, together—not so much the execution!🙂
WOW. Sometimes you just know you're going to love a book before you even read it and I had a feeling that Triple Trouble was going to be incredible. I'm so happy to say that Jesse didn't let me down- it was even better than I was expecting!!
I don't always love MMM books because they can be a bit tedious when the author gets bogged down telling us how equal the relationship is without showing us. I know all relationships are work but some MMM seem like all work, no fun. But Jesse made it seem absolutely effortless between the 3 men. She clearly put in a lot of effort to show us all the sweet ways the boys checked in with each other, communicated, and made sure everyone felt comfortable every step of the way. It actually made me want something to go wrong because of the way things went so well. These 3 boys just fit together and I loved reading their book. My only real complaint is that I wanted more!
Triple Trouble was sweet and romantic and hot and super sexy. I loved how worried Mattie would get that Trouble wouldn't come back, and how he and Will each had such distinct personalities and outlooks on life and relationships. I also really loved the scene where Will and Mat get into Trouble, if you know what I mean. The book was beautiful and read like poetry. Can't wait for more from Jesse, she's a one-click author for me!
Legit the hottest threesome ever. It was insanely sexy, tender, rough, wild, emotional and generally all consuming. And I applaud Jesse for nailing (pun intended) the logistics😂😂
One of my most favorite things about this book is that each man has such a distinct personality and place within their relationship. Plus add in a double bi-awakening between besties, and I swoon! I love how Trouble basically knocks them both on their asses and they’re never the same again.
The way they all support, encourage, and are so compassionate with each other was the sweetest. I really did adore how none of them felt complete without the others! Each man had such a distinct personality.
I loved how Mattie and Will gave Trouble something he’d never had or even knew he wanted. They wanted him for all he was and never asked him to be anything different. Plus, we get the sweetest cinnamon roll with Mattie, a stoic protector with Will and the free spirit with Trouble. This was just a delight!!
Look, I just wasn't feeling anything here at all. Will and Matt are cute, I just didn't feel like enough development was given to Trouble and where he fits in the scheme of things. It was also a bit too instalove and repetitive for my taste, and the word dong was used far too many times......I just CAN'T.
This didn't work for me at all. The search for the slump cure continues 😭
Dnf at around 15%. This one definitely isn’t for me. I could get over the weird start (Will and Mat, both straight bro-dudes and best friends, go to a gay bar and end up hiking up with Trouble, a very hot femme guy).
But what I can’t get into is the writing style. The sentences are short. Very short. And turns out, I’m not into it. It’s gives the book a very simplistic vibe.
Cutting it short here, no rating. Onwards to greener pastures 😅
“Nothing happened, I tell myself. The chair held firm. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t fall.”
I was lucky enough to receive an arc of Jesse’s newest release. Triple Trouble is a high spice, low angst MMM set in the same world as The Step Bro Situation.
I’ve read all of Jesse’s books and LOVE her writing style. She packs so much feeling and comedy and steam into each of her books and this one is no exception.
The first thing I will say about this book- it is SPICY. Like, chapter one, zero-wait-time spicy. So if you’re looking for fast paced steam, look no further, my friend.
I loved how each of these three characters had such distinct personalities. I feel like sometimes with three MCs, characters can feel a little muddled but that’s not the case here. Mat- the sweet, smiling, golden retriever dude bro. Will- the serious, protective, scary yet hot best friend. And then comes Trouble- the confident, sexy, mysterious, out and proud beauty- who knocks these two friends on their asses with an epic sexual awakening.
Check this book out if you love: -MMM romance -Bi awakenings -Fast paced spice -Childhood best friends to lovers -Banter -DID I MENTION THE SPICE
Spoilers riddled throughout this one sorry but I’m kind of annoyed
This had so much potential because I LOVEEEEEE a menagé/poly romance 😭🩵 HOWEVER it almost entirely lacks any actual romance/connection/relationship building. We’ve got the bi awakening of two sweet himbo besties (Will and Mattie) which I was honestly VERY here for. They’re so cute and sweet and I loved them. Trouble, in general, I also really liked. But all together? They were just sex. They were literally sex and absolutely nothing else at all ever and it pissed me off. They have their mutual love declaration moments after finding out Trouble’s real name and are not even serious yet 😭 and then proceed to REMODEL THEIR WHOLE HOUSE FOR HIM 2 minutes later!!!! Be fucking serious
I think it also does a disservice to poly relationships to have no relationship building between the individual couples (asides from our besties who have a pre existing friendship) ie Trouble x Will, Trouble x Mattie because that seems hyper unrealistic that they will just be all together all the time. Shouldn’t they have relationships of their own? And Trouble was all insecure about Will and Mattie being together without him which was never resolved? I really did not vibe with that at all.
Ugh sad cause I’ve loved all of Jesse’s other books
Also I’m sorry but there is WAY too much “it’s giving …” and “I love/hate that for me”. That’s such a pet peeve for me because I feel like slang like that ages SOOO poorly and we could have just done without it lmao anywayyyyyy
I love MMM but it’s very rare I find one that’s done well. This is one of those times, because this was just *chef’s kiss*.
We have lifelong “straight” best friends Will and Mat who encounter someone at a club that just flips their entire world on its axis. Trouble makes them question everything they thought they knew about themselves—and eventually, also everything they thought they knew about their friendship.
I loved the way this went from best bros have semi-regular threesomes with a dude to this beautiful and well-balanced poly couple. The communication amongst them was always done very well and it never felt like there were any more favorable pairings like you often find in other MMM tropes.
The spice was insane. I actually worried there would be too much of it/it would overpower the relationship, but that didn’t happen. And the chemistry between all three characters was great. Jesse also always does a good job of differentiating her characters and giving them their own voices so it never feels hard to keep up with who’s speaking—also another issue with some poly books I’ve read.
It’s also fun seeing other characters from Jesse’s other books (hi Jessie, Luke, AND MY SWEET BOY WYN) make appearances.
The ending sets up so nicely for the next book and I cannot not wait to see what’s in store for us with Gould!
I want to give this more stars because the smut was just like top quality stuff, really excellent, but the rest of it was just kind of ridiculous and stupid, so I struggled a bit there. This is MMM, which is not my favourite, but I really enjoy Jesse Reign, so I was open to it. We have here a pair of dude-bro finance guys - Mat and Will - best friends and roommates. Both straight as a ruler when we start out. But this very quickly changes when they meet Trouble (Jessie's cousin from the first book), and then it's like heterosexual for who? Trouble (dumb name) is written like an actual incubus, just like this otherworldly sexual being that no one can keep their hands off. These three proceed to have a wild time, which is great. But then we see the guys getting super obsessed with him, Mat especially is unbelievably pathetic. I didn't enjoy that at all, Trouble has literally cast some sort of sex spell over our boys because they become stupid around him. These three guys have really only ever fucked, the guys know literally nothing about Trouble, not even his real name, but they are suddenly in love with him. Cue eye-roll. It was just a bit much. Pared down to the three of them getting it on, I am 100% on board, but I could honestly leave the rest of it.
Excuse me while I position myself in front of the fan! This book was hot af. Jesse did not go lightly on the spice. 🥵
Will and Mattie are two besties who, one night in a club, both catch a glimpse of gorgeous, confident Trouble. And both are instantly taken by this mysterious stranger.
They take Trouble home with them and after a very enjoyable night together, find they can't stop thinking about him. They want more Trouble.
Mattie is intense. He's a whirlwind. A ball of energy. And Will is his calm. He's the German Shepherd to Mattie's Golden Retriever. Loyal and loving. The grumpy to the sunshine. I loved their dynamic. "𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙚, 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 '𝙚𝙧𝙚" quickly became one of my favourite lines. Will just always knew exactly what Mattie needed.
And then we have Trouble. He's a force - he shows his two "dude bro's" what's what. Challenging them to games of gay chicken, challenging them in the bedroom, challenging them to see each other differently - as more then friends. I loved how he kept referring to them as his favorite "blunt instruments". What a different, sweet term of endearment. 😁 In my dog analogy I think he'd be a Border Collie - intelligent and loving.
Trouble quickly becomes the missing piece of their puzzle. A three piece puzzle that fits together beautifully.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and loved all three characters. (Though Will is my fave and I'm laying claim on him right now. Mine).
Thank you Jesse for yet another wonderful story of love and friendship.
This was amazing! Truly incredible story! OMG I'm so fangirling over Jesse's books right now!
I see that Jesse has a talent for writing in such a way that it truly puts us, the readers, there... with the guys! This was a very hot place to be! I mean... hot doesn't cover it, to be honest.
So this starts with two best friends who have known each other since a young age, they went through high school and college together. Now they are roommates in a house that belongs to them. They are a perfect team, oiled and complete, but maybe not. They are very very straight ok?
One day they go to a gay bar for a party of a friend, and bammmm earthquake, lightning, dumbstruck feeling, they see Trouble, yes yes Trouble is not his middle name, IS HIS NAME! And let me tell you, he did it well!
He is misterious and immediately captures the attention of the very straight Will and Mat... Insta lust... Like life-changing lust! Trouble sasses his way into them and tests the tides... and what happens next is so freaking hot that the bowels of hell feel shy...
They have the most epic treesome ever... they just work and "come" literally together with such force and impact that damn!
After this epic night, Trouble goes awol, and this is when the real challenge begins because Mat and Will are obsessed... And losing their mind without a bit of Trouble:)
They finally find him and start a rotine of encounters, which makes all three of them more wanting of each other... Mat and Will start to realise that they may be more than just friends... Will is such a grumpy caretaker that, wow, and Mat is so neddy... They are incredible.
The building of the relationship is astonishing and so well done, so careful, and with no one left behind (well, there's always someone behind, pun intended). This book is full of aftercare, love, cuddling, sweetness overload, and mind-blowing sex. You have every filthy thing you can imagine happens here! It's dirty and wet, and the best, really! The way they just let go when they are together and just feel... god...
The tension in the relationship comes from where we least expect it, and i love it. Everry word. The ending was amazing, sweet, and hot (equal measures).
I haven't read a MMM book in a while because the last one left me in physical pain because of how the love between all of them was expressed, but this one? So, so sweet and loving... Maybe it was because there was no couple established and the foundations were always built with the tree of them.
I received this ARC from the author, and this is my most honest opinion!
“Two hardened straight guys, one me, and a double bi-awakening? Sign me the fuck up.” 5⭐️4.5🌶️
To say this book was a highly anticipated read almost feels like an understatement! From the moment we meet Trouble in The Step Bro Situation I was hooked.
“I like a challenge, so I’ve updated the fantasy. You’ve got to dream big, you know? I want two bi guys who think they’re straight now. I want them to be masc as hell. I want them to be blunt instruments. And I want to get hold of them and sink my claws into them and I want to wake them the fuck up.”
Trouble certainly gets his wish, but Will and Mat sink their claws in just as much. From the moment they walk into gay club Schlong for a friend’s birthday party and see Trouble the connection is immediate. Never mind that before then they’d never looked at another guy with interest. Trouble’s just so pretty and interesting they can’t help but shoot their shot.
Fumbling through their first threesome, the boys become addicted to Trouble and won’t stop until he’s theirs. The friends to lovers arc between the two of them was also really sweet - “good cuddles”, tasting bacon, banter, and all. It’s swoony and sexy and impossible to put down. The balance between all the guys is really well done and they all feel like they’re necessary to the group dynamic.
My favourite parts were when Will & Mat teamed up with Mattie whispering sweet nothings and Will whispering filthy promises. How was Trouble supposed to resist?!
”Jesus, you’re off the hook, babe. Not even you can help me.”
I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.
I was missing the development of the individual relationships. It felt wrong without it, especially because two of the MCs were childhood friends. Felt like erotica trying to be more and failing.
This read was extremely steamy! The scences between Mat, Will, and Trouble were so freaking hot!! I'd say my rating is 3.75 stars. As much as I was into it, and liked these three finding their way and what works for them, I felt a few of the chapters were very similar and not needed. All in all I really enjoyed their story and hoping to see what's up with Gould next.
"I'm confused. Not about how we got here. I know damn well how we got here. We went looking for trouble and Trouble found us."
Well boys Trouble sure did! When we met Trouble briefly in The Step Bro Situation, I already knew I wanted his story. Then I found out the man himself was going to get his dream come true - a pair of dude bros who straddle the line of heteroflexible. I loved both Mat and Will. I loved how close they were. How they could read each other's minds with a look or a tap to the arm. Their personalities are quite opposite, but they balance each other out. They need each other, but until meeting Trouble they don't really understand what that all truly means.
"If you don't know us well, you might think I'm the one that calls the shots, but I'm not. I follow him. I always have. Don't know why, but I need him. Like, really, really need him."
Meeting Trouble opened up Mat and Will's eyes to a lot of things, especially the wonderful world of man-on-man action. But it was more than that. He helped them see that what they felt for each other was special. That it was more. And the more they got to know Trouble, the more they both wanted him to be a part of it. I honestly enjoyed seeing Trouble suffer a bit. He's sworn he's not a relationship man so when he realizes he may be catching feelings, he fights it hard. His brunch with Jessie and Luke from book 1 was a highlight. It took his friends to point out that all that stuff Trouble is feeling, yeah man, that's what falling in love is like.
The poly dynamic really worked for me in this one. I was worried because of how close Mat and Will were to begin with that it was going to feel less equal. It didn't. In fact, Mat and Will tended to dote on Trouble. It was sweet. And spicy. I mean when these 3 get together I felt a little singed. Scorching hot doesn't even begin to cover it. It also has one of my favorite things, a smaller guy with a shocking surprise hiding under his shorts. If you're a fan of lower angst MMM that features a couple of bicurious dude bros and a bossy AF femme twink, then Triple Trouble is the book for you.
Wow Wow Wow!!!!! I devoured this book! OMG it was so much of everything I love!! MMM, three totally different guys, a double bi awakening, some of the hottest sex I’ve read, lace, plugs, double penetrating (fucking swoon) and all the feels! I mean what is not to love!!! I adore Jesse and I love all her work, she always gives you what you need!
Before you dive into this book sit yourself on a towel and get a fan, your gonna need both 😂
Will- tall, dark, handsome, Strong, the overall leader, the safe space, the comforter, the cuddler, the listener. He’s kind and compassionate, he likes to talk about everything so there is no miss communication, he’s a beautiful human.
Mattie- medium height, big build, dark hair, bouncy, excitable puppy, loves hard and fast, very emotional, over thinker, can be unsure of himself, needs guidance, but he loves with his whole heart and he’s caring and loving.
Trouble- small femme man, wears sexy jocks, dances seductively, has long black hair, can be stand offish, needs time to open up, sexy as hell, very good teacher in the bedroom, lover of tasting bacon, the glue that makes the 3 men work, he’s understanding and dreams big.
These 3 men work so well together, they all bring a different dynamic and they flow together like a river on a summers day. I loved the way this story worked, the care and understanding, the patience and love that went into making the 3 of them work was amazing.
There was kinks, there was praise, there was DP!! The spice in this book is top notch chefs kiss!! I mean read the first chapter and you’ll get the gist of the heat!!! Jesus take the wheel!!! 🥵
Looking forward to Gould and Daddy 😉 I know Jesse likes a good spanking so I have my fingers crossed 🤞🏻
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Triple Trouble is the second book in The Situationship Series. It can be enjoyed as part of the series, or as a standalone novel. There are cameos of the characters from book one, but it’s not imperative to read the first book in this series in order to enjoy this installment.
Triple Trouble is an M/M/M romance featuring a double bi awakening and is very, very sexual.
Let’s get this straight (lollllllll)… I’m really not a fan of “why choose” romances.
I will read them because they are unfailingly sexy. But when it comes down to it, I always have a favorite partner and end up frustrated that there is a third party in the relationship. I’m not against a real life poly situation between consenting parties, it’s just definitely not for me. Literaturally or Literally.
I liked The Step Bro Situation (book one in this series) more than I enjoyed Triple Trouble. Triple Trouble gave me a little bit of the backstory I was craving but gave me a very heavy dose of sexy. The plot to sexy ratio wasn’t proportionate in my opinion.
Mat and Will are childhood friends, they are roommates, they are each other’s wingman, they are very very straight (?). They are also just enjoyable to read, and carry the weight of this book on their shoulders.
Trouble is a very beautiful man that Mat and Will meet at a club and decide they need him. Trouble is emotionally unavailable. Mat and Will are only made of feelings.
Mat becomes addicted to Trouble quickly, Will is there to pick up his pieces. Trouble slowly comes around and they all fall in love. Happy Ending!
Mat and Will are adorable besties. They are just so cute and sweet and do the good cuddles. They are opposites attract personified, and they are the bestest of friends. They bought an entire house together. How they did not realize they had lurvvve for each other is completely beyond me. They are literally Bert and Ernie. I loved them.
Trouble was actually not my favorite? I know thats sort of blasphemous considering the entire book is about him. He was just super one dimensional. He liked to have sex, and he was mysterious and pretty. Like, those are the only things holding his character together… we never learned WHY he was so guarded and jaded, he just was. We never even learned what shampoo he used (a shame considering how often his lustrous hair was mentioned).
I find myself with similar complains every time I read one of Jesse H Reign’s books. -Lack of backstory -One dimensional characters -Meandering plot -Mostly sex, not enough context
Also do not get me started on the use of the word “dong” during the steamy scenes. *throws up*
I love that Mat and Will were so accepting of Trouble and of his lifestyle and preferences and have no qualms about joining the LGBTQIA+ community. But the fact that they were 27 years old, and had a very very intimate threesome with only dudes was literally never brought up after said threesome. I mean, there were dicks on dicks on dicks and no one talked about it afterwards…?! It just seems like that would have been a conversation that would have arisen between two straight dude bros after they sucked each others weiners. Then they had insta love and wanted Trouble to move in after three months? No thanks. That’s not realistic even a tiny bit.
I adored Mat and Will. I thought they could have their own book honestly.
I think Trouble was an interesting addition to their dynamic, I just don’t know that I loved him as a permanent addition.
I thought Trouble needed someone who could keep up with him on a different level than Mat and Will could? I don’t know how to explain it, those two were such a wholesome little duo, and Trouble was not…? I honestly can’t pinpoint it. I don’t know what it was about Trouble that bothered me, but something did. I was shipping Mat and Will so that’s probably my problem. Like it always is when I read a why choose romance.
I think over all, this was an easy, *entertaining* read for me. I did enjoy it if I overlooked the lack of plot.
I think my biggest take away is that I don’t particularly love this author…. I don’t mind erotica, but this felt like a bad soft corn porn. If you include a plot, make it worth my time. If you want it to be sex focused, don’t waste my time with a plot that is lame.
4.5 stars. It’s so awesome to see two straight best friends be way more than they know. When Mat and Will meet the enigmatic Trouble, and take him home with them, they have a scorching night to remember. Trouble is everything, just EVERYTHING! Mat is depressed the days after Trouble left, they don’t know anything about him and now he’s gone.
It took them a while but they found him. Another sexy night is what they have, Trouble has to promise to stay in touch. Meanwhile Mat and Will discover feelings for each other that goes beyond regular friendship.
Mat and Will are open, Trouble is super closed about himself, he gives them nothing. They get one night a week, if it’s to Trouble’s like. Watch them, it’s so wonderful!
The author’s writing was overwhelming, absolutely great! The scenes were super duper intense. I was glued to the pages. The desperation was palpable. I loved all three guys, totally different characters. It was one big bubble, I do love bubbles enormously!!
This book is crazy hot 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵 I love everything Jesse write but this one is really good.
Each characters is really well written, we can see the different layers of personality. You cannot stop falling in love with them. Will, Matt and Trouble are just matching and complementing each others.
It’s a hell of a ride with lust, desire, confusion, anxiety, panic, insecurity but lots of love, sweet and cuddles ;). I really enjoyed the pace of the story and having the different POV of each characters.
It’s a 5 stars again for me !
Audio review : Love and love this story ! Those three are just my fav. The audio is pretty good 😌 and it’s super relaxing to hear it again. ❤️ Still a 5 ⭐️ for me. 😌
I’m gonna keep it 100 - I read this for the smut and the smut alone. I probably would have enjoyed the actual story more if Trouble had been a little more developed and also if I got to see Mattie and Will have their “confessing feelings intimate moment” like they’ve been best friends since they were kids and I was denied seeing their first time with each other??? So unfair! But the smut was hot and I loved how right after Mattie said something so sweet, Will followed it up with something dirty. A+ dynamics!
This is the second book in the Situationship series, although I think you'd be OK reading this one on its own.
In this book, we have 2 dude-bros both lusting over the same man, and along the way those two dude-bros discover that they also want more than just friendship with each other. Gotta love a double bi-awakening! This story is told from all 3 POVs, and I really liked the voices of the characters coming through with the writing.
Mat is just a giant golden retriever, and Will is definitely the serious one and the caretaker, always wanting to make sure that both Mattie and Trouble are OK. Trouble took a bit of time to figure out and get to know. He is so enigmatic and closed off, both as the narrator and with Mat and Will, and I feel like as the reader, we're never really shown why he is the way he is?
Once he starts opening up to them and spending more time with them, I just loved how the relationship flourished. These three had excellent chemistry together. I do feel like several things happened off-page and we were told about them having had happened, rather than get to read about them actually happen. I loved the last quarter of this book, very steamy!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was hot okay?! It’s a super steamy story of 3 men finding love together and also about allllll the sex 🥵🥵
Here we have Mat and Will. Two best friends who have been friends for years, live together, and are very very close (the “good cuddles” damn near killed me too). I adore best friends-to-lovers and this was no exception. I loved seeing these two realize their feelings towards each other all were probably not strictly platonic anymore. And seeing their friendship grow to include that physical chemistry and intimacy?! 👌
Now how did these two jocks come to the realization that they are likely not as straight as they once thought?? By meeting a sultry hurricane of a human - Trouble. They are both instantly enamored with Trouble and one thing leads to another and a night out turns into a steamy night in between all three of them.
Mat and Will very quickly become slightly obsessed with Trouble and are eager to repeat their night together. Mat, in particular, falls hard and fast and his head is spinning a bit. I really loved how Will kept him grounded as best he could and took care of him.
Now not only was this very sexy it was also endearingly sweet. These men communicated, addressed jealousy issues, talked about their wants and desires, and just generally were vulnerable with each other and I was here for it. This was a very healthy poly relationship and it was very much about ALL of them the whole time.
I also adored how each of the 3 men had very distinct personalities, preferences, tendencies and felt very unique. And not only that - but they complimented each other because of it.
Jesse really hit it out of the park with this one 🔥🔥🔥
Hohohooooo if you want a book that is spicy IMMEDIATELY then this is for you!
This is 10/10 spice, it is mostly spice, there is plot but the relationship is the plot.
Will & Mat have been best friends forever and are straight (ehehehe) until the very second they see Trouble. Trouble, Trouble, Trouble. Then all they see is Trouble.
This book is SO fast paced, we jump straight into the action and straight into Will and Mat realising a lot about themselves and eachother.
I will say it did feel a little bit like we were looking in instead of being there, like we were being told what was happening instead of it happening? If that makes sense? Because it is fairly avg length book and so fast paced I do feel like I was missing bits, I wanted so much more, there was a lot of internal dialogue and I think a few more chapters and this would have been 5/5 for me!
But I still thoroughly enjoyed it and 100% recommend it if you like dirty MMM romance, and especially if you like fast paced!
I received an ARC from Jesse H Reigh and this is my honest review💐
A meet-cute in a gay bar was an adorable start to this low angst, sweet AF, MMM romance. Reign delivers again with cute snarky dialogue...
"You can't play gay chicken with me" 😅
This is even cuter when it's part of a scenario involving two [currently identifying as] straight guys; best buds Matt, the buff, boy next-door serial cuddler and Will the gruff, protective-of-Matt, 'gentle barbarian'. There was much to love about the devotion of these two 'best bros' whose friendship began in the 4th grade. Although I have to admit, Matt's stalking, pining and churlishness when he didn't immediately get what he wanted, made him come across as a 10 year old throwing a tantrum and made me want to slap him at times! 😉 But man I love the confident, take control man we have in Will! Their innately affectionate nature was adorable, as it challenged the typical stereotypes of straight athletic males. Seeing these two developing an awareness of the fact they were actually a couple, without actually being a couple was cute af.
Enter Trouble. Initially labelled "The Force" by Will - an appropriate nickname for this whirlwind-of-nature, fem gay guy. Extra points that we were introduced to him in the first book in this series - love a cross over! The obvious double entendre of 'getting into trouble' was sweet the first time, but honestly felt a little try hard and overused as you kept reading. But Trouble's adoption of the boys as his "brand new baby bisexuals" was adorable. 😍
The vocab used was an interesting choice for their first sexual encounter. It was like the boys were digging into their advanced vocabulary which I thought was highly unlikely in the middle of a hot steamy sex scene. It felt like they'd swallowed a dictionary! 😅
I've read one other MMM romance which was perfect in every way. Unfortunately it's not published commercially so I can't recommend it here. So I went into this one with a fair helping of cycicism and set myself low expectations.
I find it fascinating looking in at the emotional complexities of a throuple. I enjoy stories that make me look at my own experiences and societal prejudices and challenging them. This could have gone either way. A gritty exposition on the moral and emotional implications of a triad or a fun sexed up romcom with 3 hot men. With this author it could have gone either way. My feelings were that it leant to the latter. Their comms around the developing of rules and expectations was thorough, although I don't quite believe it was as easy as it appeared.
Near the end of the book there was a stage show that was a beautiful analogy for the 3 boys. But I think my time in non angsty romance is nearing on being tapped out. So it was hard giving this book a fair rating, as my lack of love may have been my fault not the author's. You be the judge.
