I checked this book out from the library. It's beautifully photographed, and the food is gorgeous - not all of it is practical for a home chef, however. Nor will some of the ingredients mentioned be available here. Reasonable substitutes could be managed, and most of the recipes are eminently doable - and will provide a culinary adventure for anyone wishing to branch out a little.

Inspirational, and a good start for starting with African dishes and cuisines.
Of course while the continent is huge, and has an insane variety of people, cultures, languages, and food cultures, it can only scratch the surface - and it leaves you wanting to try some more dishes, and find more about some specific ones. :)
My only complain would be the injera recipe was with wheat flour. Fine, you can't find teff flour everywhere, but there should have been first the teff version - worst case you can always find some flour online. Teff flour and injera made with that is just amazing.
A good start; the cuisines contained within to be explored further...

The African Kitchen is a great resource for anyone looking to dive into a specific style of cuisine. It's especially great for those who are also very into learning more about ethnic cooking and where the origins of certain foods come from. And if it's not economical for your to swing a trip to Africa any time soon, this will be a great substitute. This will definitely be an addition to my cookbook library.
