The heroine: Natalie - she was an archeologist grad student who went to the guatemalan jungle to find a lost city. However, she ended up being left alone in the wilds by her smarmy professor where she found out that he was employing a cartel of drug smugglers to make money on every trip he made to guatemala. She was rescued by an alien super-soldier and dinosaur shifter, who told her she was his mate.
The Hero: Kroktl - he was a Dynos (alien dinosaur shifter, genetically enhanced soldier, and part cyborg), who came to Earth with his squad on a mission. When his squad was suddenly called home to for decommissioning (terminated), his squad leader betrayed them and left them in the jungle. He went into heat, even though it was not supposed to happen outside a lab at certain times. Then he found out his mate was a human female. Kroktl when shifted is a tyrannosaurus mixed with a velociraptor and he has super-speed and the ability to read heat signatures.
The Story: Kroktl had to contact the rest of his squad when Natalie was hurt by the drug smugglers. He didn’t know how his team would react to finding him mated to a human and wasn’t sure if they would be in heat as well. Though he did know that if Natalie didn’t want them as mates as well as him, that he would end up killing them for being so close to his mate. Kroktl wasn’t made to function alone; he needed his squad because they each had different skills. Rizan can fly and use echolocation for sonar mapping and estimate the number of targets at a location, Snryx is a medic and can read temperatures by touch, Lohr is a xenobiologist and has a long snake-like tongue and can also read temperatures and analyze data he gets from his tongue.
I don’t know why, in so many alien romance books, that the aliens always walk around naked. I mean, is it because it is a romance, and authors think it is sexy to be naked all the time? Because I don’t think it is. I just want them to put on some clothes. The whole time the alien males are walking around naked, I keep thinking, I hope they put on some clothes soon. Maybe romance authors are nudists and it doesn’t bother them. Well, it bothers me.
Other than that, the story was as good or better than the first book. We find out a lot more about the Dynos and their capabilities as well as the squad as a whole. I was very interested in why Axxol, the squad leader who betrayed them had done what he did, and where he went when he left. Also, I wanted to know why their squad had been suddenly called back to be decommissioned and if that had anything to do with what Axxol did. We didn’t get all those answers yet, but the world building was terrific. The world of the alien super soldiers had a lot of depth and was explained well. This book ended in a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read the next.

not one, not two, not three. BUT FOUR ROBOT SPACE DINO DADDIES ?!?!

So this was basically just really OTT monster porn. I read it all, but I was gagging at a couple points. It was the kind of fascinated reading that was like ... not being able to look away from a train wreck.
This author tends to be kind of OTT with the smuttery, but this was just way beyond for me. Like, snake aliens with penis tongues and everyone just sliming their cum, drool, and/or cum-that-is-drool all over the place. It just was gooey and gross.
There's vague hints to a story - why did their team leader basically send them all AWOL and attack them, why did the evil scientists decide to terminate the squad - but no progress is made and this is the end of book 2. We have the same vague questions with no more info that we had in book 1.
I think this one just isn't for me.

I really enjoyed book 1 and I would say I liked the majority of this book but some things were kinda repetitive/I felt like Natalie was a different character in this one. I understand the premise on why and the situations she was thrust into, but it didnt have the same pace/didnt keep me engaged the whole time like the last one did. I also have no idea how she is going to finish the story up with one more book (not sure if this is a trilogy or not, but if it is I have a sinking suspicion the book either has to be super big or things are going to have to be glossed over/rushed). So many things to figure out, deal with and I am really excited to see what happens next!
I enjoyed getting to know the other dynos in the squad. I fell for them each a different points, getting to see their nerdy side, how they tried their best with Natalie and only wanted to help her and protect her. How their vulnerability and personalities came out. I also appreciated the monster/sexy appendages and can’t wait for book 3 where we get our medic to embrace his locks to hopefully give Natalie pleasure *swoooooon*. Lohr felt like such a golden retriever character that is like the overlooked/misunderstood one and all he wants is to be loved. I was happy to see him get time and boooooy was his tongue interesting. I am really interested for Riz to get his time. I was holding things in and had some adorable one liners, I feel like he is going to be one of the more emotional ones.
We got a brief conflict with the Professor but we get a battle at the end that kinda made me think of transformers mixed with Jurassic Park haha. I think it would be amazing to see visually, not going to lie, but the ending was like uhhhhh what?!?! I don’t know how the squad handles this and if their traitor makes a reappearance and helps saves the day? Who knows! Book 3 will be here soon so hope some of these questions will be answered then!

I had so many hopes for this book to be better, to be the one to not have me roll my eyes twenty thousand times, but it wasn't the one 😩
Apart from the constant danger Kroktl puts Natalie in, there were so many other things that after a while made me think this book would be a DNF.
Right from the start, The whole "Gulp" made me gag. Like, just say "swallowed" or something and not the bloody gulp 🙃 it's weird and doesn't work in a book.
Then calling her "baby"?! I'm all for nick names or pet names but this is a grown up woman ffs and you're a bloody Dino army soldier from a different planet 🤦♀️ why do you feel the need to call her something 16 year olds call each other 😪
"You're our one in a billion light years" - this doesn't really make sense in the context given, seeing as light year is a measure of distance not time 😪
Then repeating the whole "it didn't feel slimy or cold or metallic"... This was more than just unnecessary in my eyes 🙃 Everytime Snryx touched her with his implements it was the same words and the same revolutionary realisation!
I get it.
If it didn't feel slimy or cold or metallic the first time, it won't feel slimy or cold or metallic the next 152 times 🙃 (get sick of it yet? Now imagine that over 193 pages 😌)

Mmmm
I didn't like this one as much as the first. Everyone talked about how she needs rest yet every time she would shut her eyes he would f*ck her. She even got scared at one point and he didn't care. She would be in pain or couldn't breathe and he wouldn't care. It made me kind of uncomfortable when he did it while she was trying to sleep without waking her up then invited the guys that she was kind of scared of to do stuff to her too. She doesn't even really seem like she wants to be there cause she keeps having panic attacks and getting upset. She's constantly talking about life at home and so much stuff gets repeated but I had to skip through it. Whether she's talking about how men don't look at her, how short of a time they've been together, how she doesn't love him, all this still kind of freaks her out yet in the next sentence she's obsessed with him?
This book just made me feel really icky a lot of the time. The storyline is so good and that's why I want to keep reading. But the author uses the word "mate" 127 times. He talks about how much he cares for her yet won't let her rest, doesn't let her do anything, lets her take a shower then splooges all over her constantly. I'm honestly surprised she still alive at this point with how much he's put her through.
I don't really want to read the second book but this author always leaves it on a cliff hanger so maybe.

Happy to give an honest review on this ARC I received.
Audience: For those who have read book one: Monstrous Heat
Genre: Fantasy Romance-Monster
Type of spice: Explicit on-page scenes.
TLDR: Definitely start with book one, but it is worth giving the books a shot if you are looking for a quick and spicy monster read.
Monstrous Hunger picks up with Kroktl’s fellow soldiers coming to lend aid. However, there is a hitch in the plan when Kroktl’s dyno decides it doesn’t want any other males around Natalie. This war between acknowledging that Natalie is safer with a harem vs not wanting anyone to be near makes up the majority of this story. At times this does get repetitive, but the addition of Lohr, Rizan, and Snryx adds some variety to the conflict. I do have to say that it does still feel like Kroktl and Natalie are the main relationship, and that the harem is slow going in getting established. I think my favorite part of this series so far is seeing the creativity of the different dynos Joely has created in terms of their special abilities and their unique “assets” ;). Hopefully the next story will have more interactions between Natalie and the other dynos.
I look forward to seeing what happens next especially after that cliffhanger!

Jurassic World Shifters meet Romance
The first two books have been so good! I am patiently waiting for the third one just slightly disappointed that I have to wait until September 2023 for the third one. This series is definitely fast paced and the SPICY moments are woohoo SPICY! Natalie has adjusted to her circumstances really well and is welcoming the members on the squad at an expected steady pace. Kroktl is intense as always and I still struggle to understand why some moments he is accepting the others being near Natalie and even touching her but other times wants to rip their heads off for even looking at her. It absolutely broke my heart how the others got insecure of their looks and were afraid how Natalie would react to them. Also my heart went out to Rizan because he is very undervalued in the group as the communications expert, like his skills are not just about maps!
Highly recommend the books and absolutely can't wait for the next one!

Listen. If you are not a fan of cliff hangers or when your favorite author drops bombshells on you, then just wait for her to release all the books in the series and read them then. I knew she wasn't finished writing this series, but here I am... glutton for punishment.
If you have never read the works of Joel Sue Burkhart, I highly advise to start with Their Vampire Queen series and some of her other work. The Dinosauros Series is ... a leap into science fiction and paranormal fantasy romance and erotica. This is a whole new world of reading for me, but she's one of my favorites. I liked the book, but I prefer her vampires. I don't feel like there was a whole lot of plot until the last few chapters leading unto the unreleased Dynosauros Book 3. And then there it was, the ill fated cliffhanger. These works are what I consider quick reads, but to each its own. Either way, support your favorite authors no what what.

Whelp. She’s done it now. Natalie & Kroktl have mated, are mates, and she’s meeting the team. Sort of like his family, but different since they all work as one unit. Sure the Dynos can work on their own, but surviving takes the entire team, and now they have a mate. They all feel what Natalie does, they all want to take care of her in their own way, with their own *cough* implements. Running from danger, Natalie runs directly to where she doesn’t want to land, in the hands of the professor from the first book, and that’s where the story gets going. These stories are great fun, and I’m most definitely out of my emotional reading slump.

3.75. Okay okay, I am way more invested than I thought I would be. The first book is way smuttier in my opinion and this one was actually more interesting. I know- shocker. And another cliffy (darn good one too) so I have to wait until the next book is released. And I am oddly ok with proceeding with the series!
Not a lot of highlights but a few humorous moments:
“I wasn’t sure whether Snryx’s tentacle things or Lohr’s giant tongue would win out in the “Alien Anatomy That Freaks Natalie Out the Most” category.”
Lohr squicks me out, especially when you find out more about that giant tongue! But these are such nice guys that its like "aw, shucks, sure I guess you can screw me". LOL

I have always had the ability to envision the written and spoken word, but not only can I see it, I can also, hear, feel and often even smell and tast both the written and spoken word.
Which has left me SCARRED after reading this book.

I loved the second book in this series. Of course it ended with a cliffhanger. But oh was it worth it. This is a monster why choose. For me this series is working it’s way right up there with Joley’s queen series. I’m not going to give any spoilers. Just saying if you love this author’s other books you will definitely enjoy this series. If you haven’t read this author yet and enjoy RH with monsters and out of the box/ like no other author I have read before spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ scenes then you will love her books especially this one. I can not wait for the next one.

I've had my eye on this one since it came out as I've always been dinosaur obsessed add in some aliens and it's a must read. I've been in my alien romance era and the Dynosauros are awesome they are shifters but with a dinosaur form but aliens who are genetically engineered as elite fighters. They are awesome and I loved getting to know Kroktl. Throw in that Natalie's a archeology student who happened to run into a dinosaur creature in the jungle. This is the second installment we've added in the rest of his team into the mix. This is a why choose story. I really enjoyed it.

I can't even say it was bad because there wasn't anything I actively truly hated, it's just that... all of it was really, really not good. Boring, no plot, no personality, weak female lead, bland male lead, uninteresting side characters, fake/un-believable world (despite literally just being Earth), least smutty smut I could imagine, just really beige. I probably could have finished it if I had started earlier in the evening and read it in one sitting instead of starting it at like 1am, but after sleeping on it, I have literally zero interest in finishing it.

Ha sido bastante extraño para mi porque he disfrutado mucho el primero libro pero este me ha parecido súper lento, me ha dejado con las mismas preguntas que el primer libro y además siento que la protagonista de alguna manera es diferente(?) se suponía que era una paleontóloga pero no sabe nada de dinosaurios???

This book picks up were the first one left off. Ooh boy are things heating up in this book. Natalie is in for even more as she meets kyoktls crew members. They are each unique and possess thier own unique talents. Some seriously steamy scences in this book and a few surprises. I loved how each dyno was different and how they treated Natalie. The ending of this book will leave you begging for the next one.

Hot alien dinosaur shifter sex! This book picks up from the cliffhanger of the first book and takes injured Natalie further from everything she has ever known. Adjusting to the idea of being part of the dino squad takes time, but the frequent orgasms certainly help with the transition.
Reader beware, this book also ends with a cliffhanger that I'm already scrambling with anxious for the next in series.

This book was not nearly long enough. I wanted more, more, more! There was so much packed into this book, the relationship with the team is expanding and growing, there is special peens, mating rituals, shifted mating, and more. I wish the book had more relationship development between the her and the squad, but it’s been less than 2 weeks since they met in the first book, so that can be expected. I can’t wait for the next book.

I'm still pleasantly surprised by how interesting the world building and story is in a series I expected to just be monster smut. I sacrificed sleep. It was a Friday night; but, still, I had no choice but to get up and make a cheesecake 4 hours after I forced myself to set down book 3.

This is the second book in this series and did not disappoint. Natalie had not had much time to adjust and this book spends a great deal of time in vivid detail of what she’s experiencing. She’s mated and is dealing with a breeding, in rut dynos monster. I can’t wait to see the relationships form a little more with Kryotyl’s team. That ending has me hungry for the next book. Can’t wait!

Hunger
I loved the book. It's pretty awesome and has a scary cliffhanger. I loved meeting the other teammates and seeing how they reacted and handled each other. The unique abilities they all have is cool and I love the descriptions. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is the second , action packed, well written, high heat, Alien/Human romance. There are additional Aliens and although they are each different, the are all likable and interesting. This story has a cliff hanger like the first story. Need to get going on the next one. Read and enjoy.

Dyno Dynamite
You meet more "mates" but I am still curious to see if anything will progress with the others. I am enjoying where the story is going and how the characters are evolving. You get some new k!nks in this one and some very interesting group concepts. I cannot wait to see what book 3 holds.

ok so this was A LoT
Almost too much. A tinge gory. And. Certainly poor NAT’s mind is very much a fractured mess understandably so. I live the slow burn yet instaloveness of the story it’s a will they or won’t they but also live at first sight sexy times. It’s crazy it unreal it’s an emotional roller coaster and I am ready for another ride

I am always guaranteed an exciting time with one of your PNR novels. So many fascinating details about Dinosaurs and actual facts of biology...you amaze me.

The guys were so fucking weird, but oddly cute. Riz, the pterodactyl learning hot to cook for humans in an instant from our TV and internet, so he could feed Natalie was a very sweet. Snryx was so gentle and Lohr was one of the weirdest alien love interests I've ever read about. His tongue was his dick! WTH!
It was a wild ride again ;)
