When Angelica’s blind date goes terribly awry, she is rescued by a bold stranger; Edward is tall, dark, and hotter than hell itself. From the moment their eyes accidentally lock -- a fiery, unquenchable blaze is sparked between them, and though tentative at first, she is powerless to resist his allure. Drawn to her grace, innocence, and feminine charms, his deep sexy voice and powerful gaze ultimately convince -- she's with the wrong man.
As their journey unfolds, he reveals his insatiable appetite for dominance and erotic kink, and though tentative at first, she is intrigued by the very idea and discovers her own feminine, dark side, which comes to play. For all his success, power, and wealth, Edward, ever the enigmatic entrepreneur – surrounds himself with walls to protect him from his demons – but is left isolated and alone at the top. As the heat crackles between them, Angelica is helpless to resist and falls hard, but Edward’s need for control and isolation threatens their passion – even though she may be the only one - who can reach his hidden true self.
But at what price?

Praise for The High Price Of Loneliness:
5 stars A Page Turner! A roller coaster ride of humor, conflict, passion, and revelations … well written, and you can tell a lot of care went into writing it. It won't disappoint, and it will be hard to put down! I look forward to the next two books.
5 stars Drop dead sexy Love the BDSM, tantric love scenes. I could physically see each page in my mind due to the vivid language. I love how Edward is Dominant but is willing to open up to Angelica.
5 stars The High Price of Loneliness I loved how this book opened my eyes to the real aspects of BDSM dominant and submissive roles, and would love to read more. Also, I love the factor that both characters in the story were taking care of each other, emotionally and their physical needs, and not just sexually. While reading I became flushed and very aroused. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read more in this series.”
5 stars A very interesting read! This author was much more knowledgeable about BDSM and made it a very great and interesting read. The kind once you fully get into the book and fall in love with the characters you can't put it down. I very much enjoyed the read and look forward to what happens next and more later from this author!!!
5 stars Love the story! It was definitely a page turner and I read all the way thru once I got started! The book is very well put together and definitely looking forward to the next book.

5 stars Absolutely loved it! I truly saw myself in the character of Angelica, confident, smart, independent, and many other aspects as well. You will be on the edge of your seat, the entire time and very, flustered and flushed wink wink. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. I cannot wait until the next series.
5 stars Can you pay the price? Edward is alpha personified. He sees Angelica and what unfolds is a story of awakening in more ways than one. So what was the high price of loneliness? Can you afford to pay? I definitely enjoyed their game and I know you will too.
I feel called to reveal why I had to write this book series.
The romance genre took a dark and sexy turn, beginning with the Fifty Shades of Grey series, which was so successful it launched a tidal wave of authors rushing to join the trend. However, many such authors have little, if any, actual experience with the subject matter. Now, a dark and dangerous mold has been cast, with most of the writing about the Romance Erotica BDSM world being a poor representation of the actual lifestyle.
Why me? I have lived in this world my entire adult life after discovering I was a Dominant in my early college days. Decades later, when the books about this lifestyle became global sensations, there was an outpouring from within the BDSM–Tantra–Kink community that said universally, the books are nothing like the real thing. Yes, there is a large and very active community for this lifestyle in the real world, and we talk and compare notes often.
In writing this book, I will dispel the misconceptions and inaccuracies that dilute the BDSM–Tantra–Kink lifestyle. You will not see the common tropes, such as the protagonist, who is a victim of early abuse, or extreme sexual encounters that leave the characters somehow broken or in intense pain. On the contrary, you will see the primal drives and desires embedded in all of us that drive millions to explore this world.
Now if you love the characters and the book in general, I ask that you leave an honest review. With your help and support, we can expand the community of readers, and you can help someone else, just like you, discover this story and the real essence of what draws so many to this lifestyle.
When I first started reading this book. I was like ahhh its like the movie but diff and started to think of not finishing it. When i told my daughter about it and that it was based on a true story, she sd that it was a real story and Edward was the real Edward Gray and he wrote how things really started with him and Angelica. So i decided to give it some more time and look at it as a difference than what the movie portrayed. I must say I am so glad I did have a change of mind and went into it more opened minded…Loved how Edward took to the teaching of certain things and making them more understandable and seem simple enuf to try☺️…I’m sad that I have finished the first book but I’m excited to read the next one…I’m hoping that Mr. Gray continues to write and look forward to see what he comes up with on this journey for him.
I like that BDSM terms were explained to the reader as Edward explained them to Angelica. I would recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the BDSM life. I gave the rating I did because this book was one I couldn't put down.
Edward is alpha personified. He sees Angelica and regardless of the circumstances makes his move. What unfolds is a story of awakening in more ways than one. The life of a billionaire mixing with a common working class woman is going to cause obvious differences but it's the similarities that ultimately bring them to their knees. So what was the high price of loneliness? Can you afford to pay? Well the saying go you have to play to pay. I definitely enjoyed their game and I know you will too.
Being a woman of a certain age found the book compelling, intriguing and provocative. Wasn't tempted to jump to end due to boring story line. Definitely worth the read.
It is 3:30 am and I began reading this story tonight. I was unable to put it down, even for sleep. I just finished and have to say I loved it.i will admit, I was enthralled with the 50 Shades of Grey books and movies. But I know, through additional reading and research that those stories were told with a narrow perspective. "The High Price of Loneliness" describes the D/s arena with more respect, communication, trust building and pleasure enhancement. The characters of Edward and Angelica were beautifully brought out and developed. I loved the end of Book One and looking forward to the next. Well done!
This was a great story. It had me wondering until the very last line and in some ways that is all a good book requires…The wonderment of the characters and where the author leads you! I can’t wait for the next in this series! I would definitely read it!
You can't leave me hanging! Edward. I hate him, I love him, I can't stand him, I despise him but I love him so. What he's doing to Kitten. What he's doing to my heart. I can't stand it. I can't put the book down but my life, I do have a life besides this book!!!
I won this ebook in a Goodreads giveaway & was asked in return for an honest review. This book was okay. It's based on the real life of the author & his Dom/Sub experience, but an actual story & not a biography, although the story itself doesn't have much meat to it. I like reading about main characters lives and background stories, this one didn't have much of that in the beginning. This story was only ever really about the interactions between Angelica Hart & Edward Gray, with the rare occasion of brief encounters with other, supporting characters in the book. This book often repeated itself too, often using the same sentences or words to describe certain things. (It didn't get edited very well either, but that's something else entirely.) Within the chapters the character changed point of view often so you had to pay attention as to who was the one telling their side at that moment before it quickly changed back to the other character. Angelica seemed to be willing to do ANYTHING for Edward & to stay in his life, even if that meant doing something she wasn't 100% sure about. At one point it seemed like he even persuaded her to change her mind about something even though her answer was originally "no". He always tells her, "you never have to do anything with me that you do not enthusiastically choose" & yet he tries to persuade her otherwise or not take no for an answer. She was attracted to a handsome man so much that she was willing to do just about anything for him, just to keep him in her life. She was sucked into & attracted to the expensive lifestyle even though she said it wasn't about the money. Willing to try something she wasn't sure of if it meant she was getting a new "one-of-a-kind" expensive outfit. Ridiculous if you ask me. You should always stand your ground if it's a no to something you're unsure or uncomfortable with. If it's a maybe then that's different. If you change your mind later on okay, but as long as it was YOUR CHOICE to change your mind & you weren't "persuaded" or convinced otherwise. This look into the BDSM world is interesting, & as he says more true than what you saw or read in 50 Shades. But it seems a bit coerced, not exactly sure if that's the right word but it seems fitting for this story. I guess it just baffled me to see how much she was willing to change so much about herself for a man. Although I guess every woman does it at some point even just a little bit. Or maybe it wasn't that she was changing for him, but rather her true self was finally awakened when she met him. She no longer hid her wants & desires in the dark, but rather shown brightly & didn't shy away from these when she was with him. It says at the end this is "Book One"... I'm not sure if I will read book 2. Although I'm kind of interested in what happened after that last scene. We'll see, I guess.

So this book is apparently written by a man (Gray, really?). But imho, he is NOT a Dom. Spoiler alerts and also important reasons for my 1 star rating:
What we have here is the classic fantasy of an "alpha" male (I hate that denomination) pretending to be a Dom to impress a naïve & gullible female. The hero keeps strutting with his fancy car, jet, clothes, condos and presidential suites in 10 star hotels, claiming to be Washington Haute Société... I would have preferred if he proved his dominant skills or credentials but ok. All along I couldn't help visualizing the sweet talking smarmy Simon character from True Lies trying to get into the pants of a sex starved secretary... The book also contains a few paragraphs about frigid women solving their issues with Tantra sex & "female energy" & all I could think was pseudo guru alert. Btw, the writer is actively encouraging female readers to contact him personally & all I see here is fucking red flags. 🚩🚩🚩 Back to the book: Problematic scene 1: hero has a jealousy fit because she doesn't discourage advances from another man. Well, you send your super sexy girlfriend half naked by herself amidst a pack of wolves. What do you think would happen?? In many luxury hotels, she would have been suspected to be a high end call girl on the prowl (True Lies flashbacks again). That tantrum scene is even more nonsensical when you realize at the end of the book that our Dom acknowledges the whole alpha omega bullshit on page (only the strongest men access the females etc). Funny guys, empaths or artists are ready to destroy that stupid theory, Sir. Mic drop. Finally, problematic scene number 2: Primal play apparently consists in having a kitten on a leash and having her giving you BJs at wills until she dislocates her jaw. W T F. I don't think primal means what you think it means, scammer! And now I'm all BS exhausted and angry and I'm going to reread some Cara Dee Game books to bleach my brain. ⚠️ this book ends in a cliffhanger and it's only part 1 of the story. I noticed a few typos and missing words but that's really not the biggest issue here. Whatever, stay away from this dumpster fire.
If anyone has ever called you the grammar police, do not pick up this book. It is in severe need of a good editing. Tenses do not agree, fragments are everywhere and adjectives run amok. Words like beautiful, elegant and delicious are used to describe too many things on what feels like every other page. Characters also repeat phrases that may become like nails on a chalk board.
If you are able to get past the above, brace yourself for many sexual encounters without too much else, except maybe shopping and eating scenes. It does not make sense to me how the characters fell in love when they seem to have little meaningful conversation or get togethers that do not involve sex. Furthermore, I didn't get turned on by rampant sex here - at least Fifty Shades had that going.
I give the book 2.5/5 because the story was okay enough to get through despite the aforementioned issues. I admit, I was waiting for some conflicts to come that never did, which left me disappointed. Everything just seemed dreamy for the characters. I would not read another book by this author.
Thanks to Goodreads and the author/publisher for providing me a digital copy of this book through the Goodreads Giveaway program.

Millions of women have now been seeking a Dominant to come into their lives. They yearn for a 'real man' who is a powerful take-charge leader with a hint of danger, willing to raze the world to protect his woman. This sometimes means a Dominant who can take charge inside and outside the bedroom. Maybe if we indulge some of these primal desires and fantasies (safely, of course), we can come out emotionally and sexually satisfied.
Why me? I have lived in this world my entire adult life after discovering I was a Dominant in my early college days. Decades later, when the books about this lifestyle became global sensations, there was an outpouring from within the BDSM–Tantra–Kink community that said universally, the books are nothing like the real thing. The line between pain and pleasure may be thin, but it is crossed using consent and communication. And as you go through this journey, you will see the level of both needed before, during, and after these emotionally and sexually intense relationships. Any Master-level Dominant or anyone in this lifestyle will tell you that consent, deep trust, and understanding are core pillars that ensure you and your partner are having safe but mind-blowing sex.
As you embark on this journey, I urge you to lose yourself in the plot. Learn from the characters but also enjoy the experience. This book is not an instruction manual, but you can take away many lessons to spice up your sex life. Like Angelica, try Orgasm Meditation and see how it works for you. And if you are a man and you're curious about the Two Rules, try it out step-by-step for yourself, and see how it brings pleasure to your partner like never before.

This is in interesting story about an attractive woman who never seems to find the right man and a millionaire recluse. Angelica is on a blind date with someone who is obviously not for her. While he is in the restroom, Edward sees here and comes over to talk with her telling her to get rid of her date and meet him back at the restaurant. Edwards waits almost until closing, hoping she will come back. When he is just about to give up and go home, she reappears. They have an immediate connection and begin dating. Angelica soon learns of Edwards Dominant personality. Although he is very dominant, he focuses on Angelica and making her feel safe in whatever they are doing. The story reads a little more like a memoir, there really isn't much conflict or any type of climax and resolution in the story. This is the first book in a trilogy so there will be much more to Edward and Angelica's story. At the end of this book, they both have developed in their relationship and discover that things are turning out not quite like either of them expected.
I was really interested in reading out from one in the lifestyle. I am so happy and Totally love read I g it from a man's , a Dominant writing. I loved the introduction of BDSM to Angelica. First the courting while building a trust to get to the introduction of touch, senses, tools, and sex. I can relate as a submissive as well. I fell in love with this couple, the ups and downs. Love is a powerful emotion and not many Dominants want to express it, or want to get close to their Submissive. I loved that she took a chance and poured her heart out to him. You really can't spend that much time together and as a woman not feel love. She broke his walls down and yes she won. Material things are not going to keep you warm at night or give you love.
Thank you for a well written story. I will recommend reading this series. I'm getting ready to read book 2. Five Stars
The FMC come across like an inexperienced underaged girl and gave off the wrong vibes. I question the validity of the author's claim to being a Dom, he seems more like a guy who wishes to be an "alpha" and a Dom and to do this, he write this lavish fantasy novel claiming it is based on a true story with him as the main character both in the story and IRL. If this was marketed as just a fictional story, it wouldn't have been as bad. But since he wants to try to convince readers this is the real "him", it comes across as fake and try hard. I skimmed a lot of this book because I couldn't stand the way he spoke to Angelica like she was 15 and she acted like she was 15. I'm all into the DD/LG scene, but this wasn't the vibe and missed the mark by a mile.
The moment I saw it was based on a true story, I was immediately intrigued.
Didn't love the characters or how they expressed themselves. I felt like everything they said was cringe and very fake and not how people talked in real life. It was poorly written and basic.
Also, really confusing that within the chapters the author changed point of view often so you had to pay attention as to who was the one telling their side at that moment before it quickly changed back to the other character.
Overall, not bad but I don't think I'll pick up the second book.
**Thank you to Goodreads for sending me a copy of this book**
This story was unusual for myself as a reader. It was long and kind of boring, because I haven't had the chance to experience your kink as you call it. I thought that even though you're a successful bachelor with class and has been educated to be the top intellect, not every women is interested in a guy like yourself. It seems that your hiding behind-the-scenes of your life. I thought in the story, coming to talk about the lady Angelica. She was smart and funny as a character in this book, you were conservative in this story. I didn't enjoy reading this book, maybe someone else will find joy of your world of Kink!
A blind date that doesn't go well (to put it mildly), and a very tempting stranger who comes to her rescue.
Edward is everything she could want: bold, tall, dark, handsome, her knight in shining armor. But, and there's always a "but", he has some unusual desires and needs. She decides to take a chance.
The fact that this book is based on a true story is taunting, surprising, and gripping. It's a page turner for sure even as you're not sure you're ready for whatever is coming next.
I felt Edward was a very egotistical guy and Angelica was a dumb blonde (even through she was smart). She allowed him to control her as if she didn't deserve to be appreciated and loved.
His sentence structure was very strange and difficult at times to understand his meaning. Would sometimes read a sentence a few times to decipher the wording.
There was a lot of sex. So, if that is not your cup of tea, don't read.
This book was truly outstanding! It was amazing to read something that I felt could “really happen”. Many of the authors I currently read are filled with fantasy and while I enjoy them it makes me feel a bit lacking. The High Price of Loneliness had all the feels and I felt like I could take away something and learn from it. Allow me to reach out and request some of this in my own relationships.
The book does not speak in a p.o.v way it's more 3rd party. I hated that. I hated how weak Angelica is . I get it she is submissive to her dom. Still no back bone. Everything is I need to please Edward. I wouldn't recommend it. I kept putting the book down in frustration. Only picked it back up because I must finish what I started. The sex parts could have given more. Unfortunately it was lacking for me. The characters were robotic.
I had high hopes for this book as it was written by a male author, which is rare in the genre. It also has great ratings. Unfortunately I was completely and totally turned off every time he “mansplained” the h’s body to her. He is 100% respectful throughout the entire book, but I just couldn’t…
This book appealed to me because I was wanted a man’s perspective. I’ve read 100’s of steamy romance novels (aka smut) and the characteristics of the main characters are often similar. I wondered if I would find a different point of view, I did not. The book was entertaining and I will read the whole trilogy because I don’t like leaving things unfinished.
Respectfully I had to stop reading it at 21%. The writing was personally so cringy and hard to read. I didn’t like reading the word kitten so often. I’m sure this is someone’s cup of tea, but the writing is just not mine.
Plot very poor. A take on the poorly written fifty shades series. Cliffhanger. Written with a lot of telling not showing. I skimmed it after the first 75 pages. I would not recommend.
I enjoyed this story just as much as 50 Shades of Gray. Great to follow and I could feel the characters emotionally. There is a difference between the two, one is fiction and one based on true events. Either is well written and both lead on a journey.
Well ive laughed, cried full gambit of emotions! Never have I read a book that described so openly honestly thoughts ive never shared with anyone. I enjoyed this.
This was my first detailed exposure to BDSM. I know, from reading this, that lifestyle is not for me. However, I do want to know how the story ends. Also, do BDSM people have children?
