Disappointing and repetitive

If anyone has read the Andy McDermott series of books then you may feel the same as me, they are becoming all too samey.
The first few are fun and different enough, the next few start to show the limitations of the premise and unfortunately by book 7 it's becoming dull
I will give it one more book and hopefully see a significant enough departure of storyline to the previous books, but if not 8 will be my limit

Always one step

Well written action thriller with excellent intrigue. Jacob and Jana work mind numbing puzzles to always end up one step behind their adversaries. Thrilling action blended with and interesting plot line.

“Target Seven,” authored by Jack Mars, is a gripping entry into the realm of modern thriller novels that deftly combines suspense with a touch of political intrigue. As the seventh instalment in the Jacob Snow series, Mars continues to build on the intricate character arcs and plotlines that have captivated readers throughout the series. This book stands out as both a compelling standalone read and a rich continuation of Snow’s journey, making it a must-read for thriller enthusiasts.

The story follows Jacob Snow, a seasoned CIA operative, as he embarks on a high-stakes mission to track down a legendary lost artefact. The chase takes him across the Mediterranean, pitting him against a nefarious organization with a dark agenda. As Jacob delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers shocking truths that raise the stakes to unprecedented levels. The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns, making it a page-turner that is hard to put down.

Mars excels at crafting high-stakes scenarios that feel both timely and relevant. The nefarious acts by the terrorists are not just random acts of violence; they are part of a broader scheme aiming to sow discord and instability in a precarious world. As Snow delves deeper into the conspiracy, the author expertly entwines real-world issues such as corruption, power struggles, and the ethical dilemmas faced by those in charge. This adds a layer of depth to the story that resonates throughout the narrative.

The supporting cast, including antagonists and allies, is equally well-developed, providing rich dynamics and a variety of motivations that enhance the overall tension of the plot. As the characters navigate the dangerous waters of espionage and betrayal, Mars’s writing shines in its ability to evoke emotions and build tension. The pacing is deliberate yet brisk, ensuring that the reader remains on the edge of their seat. Mars utilizes short, punchy chapters that propel the story forward, allowing for quick transitions between high-octane action sequences and quieter moments of reflection. This pacing strategy keeps the narrative engaging and provides a perfect balance between action and character-driven storytelling.

In addition to the gripping plot and well-defined characters, the author’s attention to detail is commendable. Despite its many strengths, “Target Seven” is not without its flaws. At times, the plot can feel convoluted. However, Mars manages to tie the threads together in a satisfying conclusion that pays off the buildup throughout the story.

In conclusion, “Target Seven” by Jack Mars is a thrilling addition to the Jacob Snow series that embodies the hallmarks of a great thriller: gripping action, dynamic characters, and a thought-provoking plot. Whether you’re a fan of espionage thrillers or simply seeking an engaging read, “Target Seven” is a compelling choice that will leave you eager for what comes next in this riveting series.

They keep ticking, despite the gunfights, fist flights and general bedlam. You should try the Ben Porter series on Kindle Unlimited.

A story similar to countless others. A hidden artifact and the chase after it by good guys and bad guys. Nothing memorable here.
