When the sun goes down, passion is unleashed. Pendragon Gargoyles, Book 1 Kennedy Beaumont loves her bartending job, even if her spirited nature sometimes gets her in trouble. Like threatening to hose down one of Pendragon's co-owners. When it comes to Tristan, she could use a good hosing down herself-maybe it'll help her stop casting him as the star of her wickedest dreams. Since he goes out of his way to avoid her, it ought to be easy to put him out of her head-until he reluctantly offers her a ride home. Gargoyle shape-shifter Tristan Callaghan hasn't had time for anything other than recovering the mystical dagger that was used to permanently lock his brother in a prison of stone. The cat inside him should have stopped craving Kennedy's touch long ago, but now that she's sitting next to him in his car, his very human need for her is sharper than ever. The distraction is costly. In a split second, Kennedy finds herself thrust into a dangerous, millennia-old hunt for Excalibur. A hunt that marks her for death-and leaves Tristan with a painful choice-sacrifice his family, his quest...or the one woman meant to be his. Warning: There's nothing tame about this alpha male hell-bent on claiming his mate. Featuring bone-melting explicit sex, graphic language, violence and a little harmless bite...or two.

I’ve seen these Pendragon Gargoyle books floating around for a little while. (No, not floating around for real. Stop looking at me like that. Geesh…) I read the reviews in blogland and one thing was consistent: How everyone thought these Gargoyles were sexy. Of course, my natural reaction to that was “Really? Creepy stone Gargoyles that live on Church towers are Sexy?”

Well, to each her own I suppose…

When I was approached by Sydney Somers to read her novella Primal Hunger, book one in the series, I jumped at the chance. Because even though I didn’t personally think Gargoyles were sexy, the books themselves were getting very good reviews. Well, once I started reading it, not only was I super happy I said yes, I was also quite relieved that I was wrong about the Gargoyles. And a little embarrassed about what I was thinking. Actually, a lot embarrassed. These Gargoyles are sexy and yummy cat shapeshifter that, thanks to a curse, have to spend the daylight hours as stone figures. Sexy and yummy shapeshifter jungle type cats! Niiiice.

Kennedy is a bartender at Pendragon’s. I liked her immediately. She’s an ‘I won’t take sh*t from anyone’ kind of chick. Love those! She is drawn to Tristan. She can’t put her finger on as to why exactly; she only knows that he’s become the star in all her fantasies as of late. When she experiences some car trouble, Tristan pulls over to give her a hand. But they are attacked and that’s when all the fun starts to happen.

Tristan is also drawn to Kennedy. A little more than he should be considering she’s human and he’s well…not. Tristan is a wonderful alpha hero. And for me, there is nothing better or hotter in a paranormal romance story than a hero with animal qualities. These kinds of heroes don’t do lovers. They don’t do girlfriends. They don’t do ‘one true loves’. They do mates. They let nature take over their hearts and their instincts overpower their common sense. It’s not that they find their perfect matches hot or cute, they feel a raw need for them. And there is just something about the feral hunger that these types of characters feel that just makes me weak in the knees. When they brand their mats and make them ‘Mine’. In Primal Hunger, Tristan is an animal being who is finding his mate. Rawr.

The chemistry between Tristan and Kennedy is fantastic. And the lovin’ in this book is steamy. And even though this is a shorter story, you get plenty. It’s the kind of action you would expect from a male branding his mate. As I said before, rawr.

I found the ending was a little rushed, but this supports my idea that this book could have been longer. Easily. I would have loved to spend more time with Kennedy and Tristan in the interesting world that Sydney has created. I just feel like there is so much more story to tell! At least I can take solace in the fact that this is book one of three releases (to date). I will for sure be checking out book two, Primal Attraction, which is available now. And this book did teach me one important lesson: sometimes Gargoyles really are sexy.

Enjoy It For What It Is, But...
Sydney Somers's Primal Hunger is one of those stories that disappoint me, not for what it is, but for what it could be and yet isn't. Full of interesting mythos, a spunky heroine with a backbone, and an Alpha male to drool for, the building blocks exist to make this title a really fantastic paranormal romance. Unfortunately, the combination of the length of the story (far closer to novella than mass market paperback) and the focus on the sexual relationship between the two main characters, Kennedy and Tristan, kept this book from truly blossoming into a fully satisfying read for me. And that's a shame, because there really was a lot to like about Somer's writing style and creativity here.

Ultimately, there just wasn't enough story to raise my appreciation for the book higher than three stars.

I'm a huge fan of erotic fiction. I actually prefer my books with healthy, adult, explicit sex scenes that help define and enhance the romantic pairing between couples in paranormal romances, and I'm very open minded about sex in general. Flowery euphemisms and delicate wording are a turnoff - in life and in books. That being said, however, my preference is that the story comes first and the sex scenes be a part of that story, not the whole of the story.

In Primal Hunger, the sex (while steamy, hot, and very erotic) was the center of the story and the plot and mythos about the gargoyles, wraiths, Avalon, King Arthur, Fae, as well as the development of the emotional side of Kennedy and Tristan's relationship, were more like random leaves being tossed around in the cyclone of the sexual relationship. That was such a shame, because I love gargoyles and wish there were more paranormal romances that featured them, and Arthurian novels have always been an interest of mine.

By the end, I basically enjoyed Primal Hunger for what it is, but felt disappointed by all the missed opportunities to raise the bar. Still, I've got the second in the Pendragon Gargoyles series, Primal Attraction, so I'll be giving the series at least one more go.

Who would think a Gargoyle could be hot? Really, really hot. Apparently Sydney Somers knew, because Primal Hunger, the first book in her Pendragon Gargoyles series introduces us to her really, really hot gargoyles. Kennedy works at Pendragon’s, a bar owned by Tristan’s family and the man drives her to distraction, there is just something about him and the way he looks at her. A night of car trouble was all it took to send Kennedy spiraling into Tristan’s secret world and his bed. What has fate done to them? Why has she become the target of an assassin from a world she thought existed only in fairy tales? If learning about Tristan’s immortal secrets wasn’t enough for one girl, she is told she is his soulmate, for all eternity, but how can that be? Kennedy is a mere human?

Grab the fan, and maybe a fire extinguisher, because this sensual paranormal tale gets hot, very hot! Sydney Somers blends a great fantasy with great characters, dialogue, tension and, um…action in this great start to a series that answers the question: Can Gargoyles be HOT? The answer is a breathless, OH, YES!

Primal Hunger introduces us to Kennedy Beaumont, a human bartender who's hot for Gargoyle shape-shifter, Tristan.

Tristan is on a mission to recover the mystical dagger that was used to permanently lock his brother in a prison of stone. He "left town to hunt down a lead as much as to let his craving for the human's touch pass. One look from Kennedy tonight, one stubborn arch of her brow as she pointed that hose at him ...". Now, he's back and his cat wants Kennedy. Only she doesn't know that. She thinks someone as hot as Tristan couldn't possibly care for her in any other way other than platonic.

Don't think it's just a "they both crave each other, but don't know it, yet won't admit it either" story because there is much more to this tale Sydney's woven. There are gargoyles, shifters, Arthur and Excalibur, curses and more. It was a refreshing, super sexy read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I loved the author's warning: "There's nothing tame about this alpha male hellbent on claiming his mate. Featuring bone-melting explicit sex, graphic language, violence and a little harmless bite ... or two."

This book takes place in basically 2 locations with 5 characters. Clunky dialogue, little action. Lots of steamy sex, though, (ok, so it does have action;) and is pretty formulaic overall.

Overall, this was a quick entertaining read.
The plot bordered on predictable and the romance was rather formulaic, but somehow remained a page turner.

Kennedy is human, she has been working at Pendragon’s for six months and knows nothing of the gargoyles and other "special" things that comes into the bar. One night when her car doesn't start that all changes.
Tristan can't keep his eyes off Kennedy, he even left on a mission to distance himself from her. She is human so why can't he keep himself away from her?

Just as good as the first book in the series, wasn't a let down at all. I liked the dynamic between the H & h, I liked watching their relationship change and grow. There was a nice little twist/surprise near the end that I really liked. I'm only two books in, now, but I'm really loving this series and would recommend this book for sure.

This series is very intriguing. I'm wondering if Lucan is Briana's mate. I suspected that Tristan's mate was immortal when he saw her tattoo. I'm ready for the next book.

Review provided by Black Lagoon Reviews:

Primal Hunger, the first installment in The Pendragon Gargoyles series by Sydney Somers, packs a great punch despite its size! Filled with action, romance, and a wonderful lore, the premise of this novella will have you addicted and hungry for more!

First off, let me say that I loved the originality of this story. Gargoyle shifters are definitely something I hadn't seen before and I was engrossed by their mythical origins dating back to the days of King Arthur. Also, the other little additions that tie back into the Arthurian lore were excellent. From the Wraiths who are former Knights of the Round Table to dragons who battle to keep Morgana from entering their territory and the Pendragon Gargoyles themselves who eagerly await Arthur's return and the reclamation of Excalibur. All of this is nicely tied in and enacted within a modern day setting, making this tale even more enjoyable.

The characters themselves are quite interesting and wonderfully entertaining as they come to grips with the situation fate has dropped them in. From the first sentence of the novel I was endeared to Kennedy, from her strong will to her snarky demeanor. She's tough, independent and a wonderful heroine to follow as she is thrust, by no fault of her own, into a centuries old battle. Tristan is also quite the interesting alpha male. He quickly comes to grips with the idea of Kennedy being his intended mate, though he has tried desperately to keep his distance from her. The simmering attraction he feels soon becomes a dominate need to protect her and fight the assassin sent to kill her. His gruff alluring nature is then split between warrior and lover as he tries not only to keep Kennedy safe, but to convince her to accept that she is connected to him for better or for worse. Briana, Tristan's sister is also rather interesting. I would have liked to have gotten to know more about her, but the fierce loyalty she displays in trying to protect her family made her quite likable. Her desire to use any tools at her disposal, in this case Kennedy in her ignorance of the bond she shares with Tristan, while harsh was done repentantly showing the softer side of her nature. So, while she can be construed as being bitchy, an assumption I made when she first appeared, I came to like her forth right nature and that need to keep her brother safe. It just had the ring of truth to it that came with all the characters, an aspect that marvelously showcased both Somers's writing ability and her wonderful character development.

The world created was truly intense despite the small time frame in which is was developed. There is still quite a visceral touch of reality to it, as if the reader, like Kennedy is coming to find the world is so much more fantastical then we could imagine. I think a lot of that is due to the fact that it is built upon lore in which our culture has been immersed in for centuries. Who didn't grow up knowing the stories about King Arthur and Avalon? That familiar basis built atop a somewhat familiar atmosphere, the Pendragon bar, douses it in the here and now.

The downside of this novel? It's a novella. But, despite that, this snippet at only just over a hundred pages shows that size doesn't necessarily matter. In fact, it's got all you would expect from a full length novel-action, romance, suspense and drama. Not to mention that it doesn't leave you feeling like the world was lacking like a lot of novellas, but to the contrary was wonderfully developed and brought to life. In fact, it left me quite satisfied, but I can't deny that I want more! Would a longer novel make me happy? Hell yes. Am I disappointed it wasn't? Not even a little.

In the end, the action is fast paced and the romance is scorching making The Pendragon Gargoyles an utterly addictive series for any fan of Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance. I definitely can't wait to get my hands on book 2, Primal Attraction.

It's been since 2010, when I first got my Kindle, that I've read this series. I want to say the first book was either free or pretty cheap or I could have even splurged and purchased it. However it was discovered, I ended up purchasing the other two in the series because I became obsessed! I was disappointed when I had to wait for the fourth book in the series but I found out a little later that it was put on hold because of personal reasons. I hoped everything was ok and kept checking back. But imagine my surprise when I just found out recently the fourth was released in October of 2013!! And Sydney herself asked if I would like to review it. So I offered to re-read the first three and review the whole series here. So this is where we find ourselves here now, on the second day of our Sydney Somers week. (If you missed it yesterday, we had an exclusive cover reveal here for a novella prequel to her Pendragon Gargoyles series. I even had the privilege of designing it!!!) So enough about my babble and let's get to the good stuff. :)

We are immediately pulled into the story with Kennedy, who is the bartender at Pendragon's which is owned by Tristan and his siblings, threatening to hose down (with the water sprayer behind the bar) the hot to trot Tristan and another patron who were on the way to getting into a fight. I immediately thought, well this is going to be good. I could tell immediately, even through Kennedy's POV, that Tristan is an alpha from the jump so the hose thing took some lady balls on her part. But this event essentially kicked off the madness and heart pounding events of the story. Kennedy is sucked into the enchanting world of paranormal beings she had no clue existed. And she finds that she can no longer ignore the powerful draw she feels towards the mysterious Tristan. But there is danger that is lurking in the shadows, hanging the threat of death over her head. Talk about a downer.

But Tristan is there to do anything he can to keep her safe. Including giving up his chance to unfreeze his brother from his constant gargoyle state. Throw in a bunch of action and some hot lovin', and you've got one guy I totally want at my back...and front. ;) I love a good alpha male but I also love when they are all,"do what I say now woman!" and then the next it's, "you are everything to me." It's enough to turn me to mush in a hot second. I loved how protective he is of Kennedy. And one part of the story had my heart aching for him and wanting to take all his hurts away. I was rooting hard for the two of them! And I was so happy with the outcome!

This story has a ton of action and I loved how the tale of King Arthur and Merlin. My inner history nerd was having a field day with this new spin. It's so creative how everything is woven around some things we know, like the knights of the round table. I just loved it!!

Check back each the rest of the week for the next three reviews!!

Important: There’s a wee spoiler that doesn’t give anything major away towards the end. The book is old enough that I think it’s okay to hint at what happens towards the end but I’ve put up a spoiler alert so you can skip it if you’re so inclined.

I discovered Sydney Somers while reading the Promise Harbor series from Samhain. I really enjoyed her contribution to the quadrology so I figured I’d give her paranormal stuff a shot. The first series I tried: her Pendragon Gargoyles books. I picked this one because I loved the idea of gargoyles as central characters, since we don’t see that all that often.

In PRIMAL HUNGER, we are thrown into a world in which all things supernatural are hidden from human eyes. Kennedy works in a bar for supernaturals but doesn’t know it until she gets drawn into things after her car breaks down and Tristan reluctantly rescues her. We learn about the world as Kennedy does. This means that we get some answers and these answers are quite interesting since they tie into the King Arthur story (hence Pendragons). The gargoyles (and other supernaturals) can go back and forth between our world and Avalon. Avalon’s not the happiest place since Morgana took over Camelot after Arthur fell. There is a way to get him back, if six enchanted daggers are united to point the way to Excalibur. Both Team Arthur and the Team Morgana are trying to get the daggers. Tristan falls on Team Arthur but he’s really motivated to find one particular dagger to release his brother Cian from a curse so there’s a nice blend of loyalty to family and loyalty to leader in there. There’s also a cool take on the gargoyle myth: Rhiannon cursed the gargoyles to turn to stone in the daytime because they failed to protect Arthur and gargoyles can only fight the change when they have found their one and only mate. And because this is paranormal romance, Kennedy is Tristan’s mate.

I really enjoyed the worldbuilding — definitely the most interesting aspect of the novel for me — but I also liked the relationship between Kennedy and Tristan. They have a very sparky connection and the love scenes are pretty intense. Kennedy is your typical tough-but-vulnerable heroine and Tristan is very alpha male but I didn’t mind the tropes in the novel since I truly liked both characters and was rooting for their romance to succeed.

The one part of PRIMAL HUNGER I didn’t really like was the ending. **SMALL SPOILER** The resolution to Kennedy being marked for death by the wraith seemed very convenient since it also solved the whole mortal/immortal issue but it was a development that I didn’t expect. **END SPOILER**

On the whole, I enjoyed PRIMAL HUNGER. It’s a good start the the series. It’s not the best first book I’ve read but I liked it enough to want to keep going with the series. I hope the next book is just as sexy but with some more worldbuilding (because it’s so interesting) and a less pat ending.

Not too long ago I read the beginning novella for the Pendragon Gargoyles, and I loved it. Recently I finished book one, Primal Hunger. Sydney Somers writes a fast moving and exciting story - and hey, gargoyles!!

Kennedy and Tristan.... whew, they definitely light it up!! They "can't stand" each other, all while secretly wanting the other so bad it hurts. Love that!!! A stalled car on a dark road throws them together one night, and it is perfect. The whole enemies to lovers theme works so well for them, and adds that extra tension.

Kennedy is the tough ass bartender at Pendragons. She's human, and a bit oblivious to the whole gargoyle thing Tristan has going on. She isn't aware of cat shifters, dragons, fae, or anything else supernatural. So let's just say she has a couple surprises in front of her. As a person, I really liked her. She's kind of like chocolate candy. She's hard on the outside, but inside she's all melty. She has a thing for Tristan, and she kind of waivers between she can't stand him, and she can't stop thinking about him.

As for Tristan, he's got the playboy thing down pat. The thing is, it's all to take his mind off of Kennedy, who has plagued his thoughts like a naughty siren since he met her. I absolutely love when a shifter is consumed by their attraction. Everything is amped up, and you know when the climax comes it is going to be explosive. No pun intended (wink wink) I found Tristan to be really personable and easy to adore. He's a good guy through and through. He also has that whole Alpha instinct to him that I really can't get enough of.

There's something supernatural out there that is after Kennedy, and once Tristan realizes this, he signs up to save her. And then the sledgehammer falls, and he realizes exactly how important she is to him. I love fated mates!!! I love when love slams them upside their ever-loving heads and knocks them off their feet. Tristan is a big sexy black cat, and Kennedy is the prey. Their steamy scenes are incredible and passionate, and definitely made me wish that I was Kennedy!!

The story moved fast and Sydney Somers writes such an enigmatic story, I had no problem jumping right in headfirst and feeling their world out. The supporting characters are all very interesting, and I can't wait to see love slap the rest of the Pendragon Gargoyles silly. Seriously, you can just tell that passion is in store for these siblings. If you are looking for a shifter/paranormal/supernatural romance with some interesting twists, then you should read this series. I definitely recommend!

Primal Hunger may be a novella but it packs quite the punch! Sydney Somers manages to build a rather complex world that readers only get a tiny glimpse of. On top of that, I got to meet shifters, gargoyles, fae and wraiths. A massive amount of content is jammed in to only one hundred pages yet I somehow wasn't overwhelmed or lost. If anything, I feel a little sad that it all had to end so soon.

I immediately liked Kennedy. We're first introduced to her at work, bartending. She's having a stand-off with one of her patrons armed with a beer tap hose. Kennedy is radiating a playful, don't-mess-with-me vibe. My kind of heroine! Tristan, her sexy, feral boss is the second lead character. The tension between the two is obvious and gives us a glimpse of what's to come.

One of the funniest parts of this novella for me was Kennedy fleeing enemies while driving on top of Tristan's unconscious body. At this point in the tale, these two are still in a platonic boss / employee relationship. Which made the situation all the more hilarious, not to mention awkward for poor Kennedy! Things can only heat up from here!

In the midst of all the action, Tristan and Kennedy still find lots of time to get in on. I feel like a good chunk of this book was r-rated. The sex was drool worthy and each encounter managed to be hotter than the one that came before. If you're looking for a short read that'll get your rocks off, Primal Hunger is for you!

Sydney Somers' first installment in her Pendragon Gargoyles series is amazing! The large variety of supernaturals paired with an imaginative story make this novella a good read but throw in the steamy goodness and it becomes stunning! The only problem I have with Primal Hunger is that it's a novella instead of a full-length book! Now I just have to figure out how to get my hands on book 2: Primal Attraction.

Kennedy Beaumont loves her bartending job, even if her spirited nature sometimes gets her in trouble. Like threatening to hose down one of Pendragon’s co-owners. When it comes to Tristan, she could use a good hosing down herself—maybe it’ll help her stop casting him as the star of her wickedest dreams. Since he goes out of his way to avoid her, it ought to be easy to put him out of her head—until he reluctantly offers her a ride home.
Gargoyle shape-shifter Tristan Callaghan hasn’t had time for anything other than recovering the mystical dagger that was used to permanently lock his brother in a prison of stone. The cat inside him should have stopped craving Kennedy’s touch long ago, but now that she’s sitting next to him in his car, his very human need for her is sharper than ever.
The distraction is costly. In a split second, Kennedy finds herself thrust into a dangerous, millennia-old hunt for Excalibur. A hunt that marks her for death—and leaves Tristan with a painful choice—sacrifice his family, his quest…or the one woman meant to be his.

There's so much packed into this short story I'm not even sure where to begin. But I'll give it a go, Primal Hunger is an interesting and different story from what I'm used to it's full of action, adventure and seduction that I couldn't help but be pulled into Primal Hunger and just wish it was much longer and drawn out.

Favourite Quote:
"If Alice had smoked crack before falling down the rabbit hole, she would have undoubtedly witnessed something exactly like the confrontation unfolding no more than five feet from Kennedy. Right about now, though, she'd gladly take the Mad Hatter and Cheshire cat over the pair circling each other."

Overall, Primal Hunger is a great read and a great first story in the Pendragon Gargoyles series.

I presume you know what the book is about, I'm letting you know what I liked or disliked about it.

I love reading Sydney Somers work - truly, she's just simply a fav. Book 1 of The Pendragon Gargoyles Series was just good. Not bad, not great - simply good. At first I suspected this series came before Shadow Destroyers and who knows? While published after SD it may have been written before then.

But anyway - this is me explaining 3 stars versus her typical 4 star work (per my rating "system").

As well there was one point, fairly early in the book when timeline seemed to jump out of sequence, sort of like in the movie the Matrix when Keneau Reeves see's the black cat moving... a few basic grammatical errors that really should have been caught.

Okay, but again those few points are why I went with 3 vs. 4 stars.

Now, why I really like the this book and will be moving on to each of the rest of the books.

I love the way Ms. Somers develops her characters, she sure knows how to write sensual scenes with the perfect amount of heat. Plus the storyline is excellent - the potential is huge and so I look forward to seeing how the other books evolve.

I REALLY had a crush on Tristan - grrrr. I really liked Kennedy - loved her name, loved her personality. As antagonist and protagonists go these two are great!

Brianna, Dolan, Cale - what is up with Cale anyway?! I gotta know! okay so anyway - when I balance the good with the not as good - I come up with 3 stars and yes! I do recommend the series. I recommend anything written by Ms. Somers. Really - I adore consistent writers that know how NOT to repeat things from previous events in a series.

Thanks Sydney - your stories rock! (pun intended - gargoyles and all) :)

Kennedy has no idea why the co-owner of the Pendragon Bar can't stand to be around her. She has never done anything to him that she can think of, but that does not stop her from dreaming about him night after night. When her car breaks down on the side of the road, she is shocked when Tristan stops to help her out and give her a ride. Little does she know that she is in for the ride of her life.

Tristan feels a pull towards Kennedy that he can not explain, and tries not to examine to closely. He tries to keep his distance because being immortal, it is never a good idea to get mixed up with a human. Besides, he has more important things to worry about, like trying to free his brother Cian from the encasement of stone that he has been in for over a century all because if him. When Kennedy is marked for death, Tristan will need to make a choice, sacrifice his brother, or sacrifice the woman that the beast inside him recognizes as his one true mate.

This is the first book that I have read by Sydney Somers. I have to say that first off, I love a good paranormal books, and Primal Hunger is not just good, it is GREAT! It has everything that a great story needs, action, mystery, a very HOT hero, and just a touch of humor. I loved Tristan and the struggles that he had to go through. Blaming himself for what happened to Cian, and then torn between saving his brother and saving his mate. Lets not forget the HOT and HEAVY connection between Kennedy and Tristan. Just being in the same room with these two is enough to set off smoke detectors all over the place. They sizzled the pages of Primal Hunger and made me want to keep coming back for more.

“Primal Hunger” Pendragon Gargoyles, Book 1 By Sydney Somers

“Primal Hunger” is a smoking hot read! Tristan and Kennedy's explosive sexual relationship light the pages on fire. Kennedy knows that there is something different about Tristan, her boss, but she just can't seem to put her finger on it. If only he would stop looking at her like a sexual snack, maybe she'd be able to figure out what's going on. She also has to figure out how she got a spider web tattoo on her. If only the spider web tattoo was her only concern. She now has to deal with a Wraith that wants her dead, and black panther cat that her looks at her like she's a yummy treat. Kennedy wishes she could keep her paws off of Tristan and stop thinking about him all the time, but she soon learns that won't be happening anytime soon. How is Kennedy going to deal with all of this drama and still keep sane? Read “Primal Hunger” and buckle up because you're in for the most sexual read of your life. *wink*

Sydney Somers knows how to heat the pages up in “Primal Hunger”. An super hot read that will have you anticipating what will happen next.

When the sun goes down, passion is unleashed.

Warning: There’s nothing tame about this alpha male hell-bent on claiming his mate. Featuring bone-melting explicit sex, graphic language, violence and a little harmless bite…or two.

Review: This book is definitely the start of a fascinating series for me - as soon as I finished this one, I went out and bought the rest of the titles! Before I started it, I was a bit leery about how the author would pull off having characters that were both shifters and gargoyles. However, what we wind up with is an intriguing and original paranormal series that captures your attention - and your imagination - immediately.

Tristan has fought his attraction to Kennedy for months - not knowing she was his mate. But when someone sets a wraith on her tail, one who is forced to hunt her until he completes his duty - which is her death - can Tristan save her? Even if it means leaving his brother to endure being trapped in his gargoyle form indefinitely?

I loved these characters! Tristan is the perfect alpha male, and Kennedy is such a fun character that she is a pure joy to read. After all the months of being denied an outlet for all their chemistry, it is amazingly explosive when they both give in to it. Best of all, the author manages to strick a great balance between sexual scenarios and the actual plotline. This book is not one the relies solely on one or the other - but the perfect blend between the two. This is one of those titles you just can't go wrong with, and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
