Months have passed since the events of The Invisible Kick and The Poison Maker, and Savannah’s fresh start has not been easy. The once infamous food scientist has failed to get the lab working. Food shortages are rife, and she and her fellow Raft citizens are seen as a burden.
But there is no going back. The Raft is mostly destroyed, and Savannah believes there is no one left alive.
Then the satellite phone rings.
A few stragglers, barely surviving need rescuing.
As her new country prepares for its first democratic elections, Savannah must convince everyone that her people are worth saving.
Once again, Savannah finds herself as a political pawn. Only now, the stakes are higher. The clock is ticking. This time, it’s life or death.
Savannah and her family escaped the Raft, but who did they leave behind?
I could not put this down I so much wanted to get to the end and see the outcome. I ended up with a lump in my throat and a smile on my face.
From book one and wondering what I was reading to getting hooked and loving the characters and all the turmoil and experiences they went through to getting to the end and wishing there was more to come yet really knowing that the way the book ended was the best possible.
I've just finished both the Raft series and the Eyes Forward series. They did all a book series is supposed to do. Made me laugh, cry, get angry and be happy. what am I supposed to read now?! Everything else seems tame and vapid compared to your writing. Cudos to you for the great 2 days of reading. And that was just after work and late into the night! Please write more!!
The world crumbles around our heroes in the final book of the raft trilogy. The writing improves and amazes with every book and the characters jump off the page with their tenacity and will to survive in a dark and dangerous world that seems to be against them at every turn. Savannah is the badass woman main character the dystopian genre needed.
Really enjoyed this series, well written, and had me hooked till the end. I am always looking for a different type of apocalyptic book and this was a great well thought out idea.
Absolutely fantastic series with such wonderful characters and a very believable story for our future. I cried at the end and didn’t want to leave this world. I read a lot of dystopian fiction and this is one of the best.
Absolutely love this series. Brilliant new perspective on dystopian fiction that’s refreshing and intriguing. Great characters and plot. Can’t wait to read more, fully recommend.
This book presents two harrowing journeys, each as heartbreaking and terrifying as the other. One journey depicts life in the tunnels, a supposed sanctuary from power, greed, and tyranny, while the other follows an arduous escape from a decaying raft toward a better existence. As the final book in the series, Emma masterfully ties everything together with immense love and pain. This instalment is easily my favourite of the trilogy and might even surpass the Eyes Forward series. The events in the tunnels sent chills down my spine as they eerily echoed the horrors of WWII and the Nazi persecution of Jews and other "undesirables." I devoured the book in no time and am utterly devastated that the series has come to an end. The character development across all three books is the work of a true master. My disdain for Sav transformed into adoration. My distrust of Amalyn evolved into desperate hope for survival. My heart has swelled with love, and my blood has boiled with anger while reading this final instalment. Any book that can pull you in so deeply is simply profound.
Desperation, greed, power, fear, resentment all find a way to change who we really are... or... who we believe ourselves to be.
