Steamy!

This is a short super steamy read. It has a controlling, domineering boss that I only wanted to punch a little. There was a “back door” steamy scene, and my favorite, a restrained spanking scene. Yes please!

Texting the Boss was about Cannon Croft, the CEO of Elite Editions magazine, and Candace Bennett, one of the writers for the magazine.
Candace had only been working for Cannon's magazine for two months when he hosted an event to raise company morale amongst his employees. Having ordered a new dress online, she was hesitant to wear it, so after much deliberation, she decided to take a selfie, send it to her BFF and get her opinion. Unfortunately for her, she sent it to her boss by mistake. She realized her mistake almost immediately and sent him a follow-up text apologizing. Not expecting him to respond, she got a return text that stated his approval.
Arriving at the dinner, Candace was nervous about seeing her boss and how he would react in person. Once he spotted her across the room, he left his companions and made his way to her side. Although she asked him to not cause a scene in front of her co-workers, Cannon told her he didn't care a fig about anyone's reactions but hers. After the dinner and speeches were done, the floor was cleared for dancing. Although she tried to make her escape without seeing her boss again, he managed to stop her long enough to have one dance together, then he left her to her own devices for the rest of the evening. As the event wore down, Candace took out her phone to order an Uber ride, only for Cannon to stop her. He led her to where his driver was waiting with his car and gave her a ride to her apartment. Kissing her once, he waited until she'd locked her door from the inside, then left. Question: If she was only 18 why was she allowed to drink champagne at a business event?
From that point on, they started exchanging texts back and forth throughout the following week, with him also having flowers waiting for her at her desk. Then he invited her to the opera. What she didn't know was that Cannon already had their future planned out, and he was doing his best to make it happen. Things heated u between them while watching the scenes playing out on stage. Then he took her back to her place, only for her to get accosted by the paparazzi, which he swiftly dealt with.
The story had nuances of the movie "Pretty Woman", especially the part about the opera and it being her first time in attendance.
Question: If they attended the opera on Saturday night, and he invited her back to his place after an incident outside her apartment...how in the world had she "stayed with Cannon in his guest room Friday night and Saturday night"? I think the author forgot her own timeline when writing that statement.
When she arrived at work on Monday after their weekend together, things went to hell in a handbasket PDQ. Her co-workers made things awkward enough that she texted Cannon to break things off, then she left in tears, only for him to arrive unannounced not long after. He then proceeded to discipline her for trying to end things. Once that was done, he was so turned on he wanted to have sex while she was still bent over the table. But when she told him she still had her V-card, he stopped immediately and re-dressed her.
Another question: How did Cannon manage to walk into HER apartment uninvited without a key? They'd been on ONE date (two if you count the coffee cafe stop over the weekend she spent at his place). So...how did he do that? There wasn't an explanation given by the author.
Cannon convinced her to return to his penthouse and told her she could work from there. He also told her he would deal with her coworkers because his company did not tolerate the way she had been treated. From that point on, she lived with Cannon and worked from home. But that ended up not being enough for her. She wasn't the type of person who enjoyed living off someone else's dime and so, a month after moving in with him, she finally told him. But he wasn't happy with the idea that she wanted to return to the office. He was so angry, in fact, that he stormed out of the penthouse "before I say something I will regret". This man, whom she told she loved, was so close-minded that he didn't seem to realize she wasn't rejecting HIM, but that she still wanted to pursue her dreams as well as their relationship. He saw her need for independence only as "the problem of her stubbornness". When Cannon did something about their problem instead of running from it or them breaking up, it was a nice change of pace from books where the two main characters usually have a third-quarter breakup before they finally find a solution to be together. The spicy scene(s) weren't too bad, but they did lack a bit of scintillation and fell into a bit of a not-so-spicy category that was a trifle disappointing.
Although it was a micro-short story, and it did have some issues, it was a really good, almost insta-love novella. It had all of the angst and drama you'd find in a full-length novel, and it had the normal push/pull between the two main characters. While the twists and turns of the plot weren't surprising, the solution the MMC came up with to fix things between them was definitely a more pleasant way of wrapping up the book.
While the book did have a few quirks, some repetition , and an odd writing style, it somehow worked in the end. With a few tweaks here and there, it would make for better reading material. I decided to give the short story a full five-star rating, simply because of how the author managed to have the HEA without them breaking up. Oh, sure, they had their moments where they almost walked away from each other, but instead, they managed to work everything out without the added drama of splitting up. That's unusual for 99% of romance novels, and it was a nice change of pace. So, yes, it earned a high rating and the right to be added to my Keeper for the Shelves collection...issues and all.

Part of the Possessive Man series each can be read as a standalone with an overprotective and the girl who captures his attention. Candace is such a sweetheart working as an intern at a publication company while out trying to find an outfit for an employee event coming up she takes a picture in the outfit sending to her best friend or so she thought mistakenly sent it to her boss so embarrassed thinking she is going to lose everything she has worked so hard for and when he shows up she doesn’t know what to do or say. Cannon sexy as all get out grump CEO of the company never put much stock into relationships most women want him for his money so when he gets a picture from a beautiful intern one he didn’t even know he works for him and he isn’t going to let this chance pass him by so he shows up to compliment her outfit but so much more because he knows she is meant to be his. The attraction is instant and it is intense but she feels some type of way because she is much younger than him still trying to gain her footing in the work world and he is already established and can’t understand why she has a problem with them being together but can she help him understand, will she try seeing his point of view, will her coworkers talk, and can they find happiness somewhere along the way?

Our heroine made a mistake which leads to some fun times with our hero, but eventually she needs to set things straight. The question is will she lose everything she has gained in the process?

This is book twenty-seven of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.

This is a contemporary romance with an over the top alpha male theme. The story is well written and easy to read with well developed cast of characters. I enjoyed watching the interactions between our leads in this one. There is a good amount of steam and it all leads to a very nice HEA. Overall, a great evening read.

Highly recommended.

I loved Texting the Boss Book 27 of A Possessive Man. Candace can’t believe she texted her boss instead of her friend. Cannon can’t believe he didn’t know who she was, now he won’t let her go. Unfortunately, dating the boss is turning up lots of problems for Candace and Cannon doesn’t understand why it’s bothering her, he doesn’t understand why she needs some more than him. He needs to fix this before he loses his love. I loved the storyline and the characters. Alpha male and an independent woman. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Candace is an intern at a publication that is having an event for the employees, when she texts her bestie about her outfit for it. Except it was not her friend, it was the CEO of the company. Cannon never did relationships but one look at Candace and he knows she is the one, to be his wife and mother of his children.

Candace should not get involved with him if she expects to be taken seriously as a writer. Cannon wants nothing more that to take care of her.

Will this hurt her career or will they find a compromise?.

This is the story of Candace and Cannon. Their story begins when she accidentally texts her boss instead of her girlfriend. Once Cannon finds out who she is, it's all over him and he decides she's his and won't let her go. But we know that dating the boss is not a good idea and creates crooked faces in the workplace. Candace is an independent woman and doesn't really want it because it causes problems. Will Cannon see her side and can he find a solution before he loses the love of his life? I enjoyed it and highly recommend it!

This is book 27 of A possessive Man. Candace can’t believe she texted her boss instead of her friend. Cannon can’t believe he didn’t know who she was, now he won’t let her go. Dating the boss, it does not turn right for her, and career was on the line. She leaves because she was her career and not have anything handed to her or spoken about. Cannon had to fix it, or he would lose her forever. I loved the storyline and the characters. Alpha male and an independent woman. Definitely you want to read this book and the series.

This was a fun and steamy read that started off with one of life's most embarrassing moments and ended up with the love of a lifetime. Candace accidentally sent her boss, Cannon, a pic of her in her fancy new dress for a work event, instead of her friend, Cara... He was smitten from that picture forward but he was not the most understanding guy when it came to office politics. This caused a fair bit of angst, that he handled in a unique way, a lot of steamy chemistry and eventually, a fab HEA. I loved when he finally 'got it' and helped in a real fashion. Good fun!

The author has given us a fast-paced older man/younger woman story that pulls us into the lives of Cannon and Candace. The story keeps us turning the pages with connection, gossip, determination and a bit of kink.

Whoops…

Poor Candace, she was trying to look good for a company event. Sending a picture to her friend to ask her opinion, but text her new boss instead. Cannon was pretty intense but gave her a choice, to become his fully… She agreed and thank goodness for that. Because their HEA is sweet

She is the shy and so so so innocent. What happens when she meets a man that's going to take all that away from her? Couldn't stop reading till it was done.

Arg! What I read vs some of these reviews are two totally different things. This book was way too vanilla. And this boss was a lot (boring)

Okay

This was giving me paedophile-vibes. She is 18, he is ... Did it say how old he is? He is possessive and controlling. Not cool.
