Callum never imagined he’d one day wake up in an exam room naked, alongside the sexiest witch he’s ever seen—a witch who was also naked. Vaughn is just as clueless about where their clothes went as Callum, but Callum is certain of one thing—Vaughn is his. Vaughn expected a few hiccups during his first days living in not only a new town but one that was home to witches and werewolves. In the human world, melting a person’s clothes off their body—however accidentally—meant you’d never hear from that person again. Instead, Callum asks Vaughn out on a date. Callum is cool and confident. Everything Vaughn isn’t. The two of them make no sense together, but the sparks between them are impossible to ignore. Unfortunately, the rest of Crescent City isn’t as eager as Callum to ignore Vaughn’s awkward mistakes. And when Vaughn makes a choice that places him between Callum and his pack, Vaughn is certain Callum will realize the other wolves are right, and that Vaughn isn’t worth the trouble.Orbit is a 17k novella in the gay paranormal romance series, Lunar Wolves.Orbit features a goofy witch with more than a touch of social anxiety, and a gorgeous wolf who is ready and willing to be the safe space Vaughn so desperately needs. I'm such a fan of this universe/Series and I might be spoiled by the full length stories because this one felt a bit underwhelming to me, it was over way to quick to develop this relationship and ended very abruptly. With that being said I would recommend for series fans because it is part of that world and even though it wasn't my favorite, I still enjoyed being in this universe again.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
ORBIT is a Lunar Wolves Novella - it says so in the title. It is also the first book I have read in this series or by the author. I was told I wouldn't need to read the series to enjoy this book but I'm afraid I think that was wrong.
This is a short novella and, for me, you really didn't learn anything about the world or the characters so having some knowledge would have been helpful. Callum and Vaughan were a cute couple but also a paradox. On the one hand, they communicated nicely. Callum, in particular, helped Vaughan with his social anxiety. But then, on the other, neither of them talks when there's a problem, which I found odd, especially when it could be linked to said social anxiety.
The ending is quite abrupt. I'm guessing we will see more of them in future books but, as a novella, it's more of a meet-cute and not much more.
A good read but I would definitely recommend reading the series. ** same worded review will appear elsewhere **

Kiki Burrell's latest Orbit is a fun read. Callum and Vaughn have an original meet cute where Vaughn accidentally melts the clothes right off the two of them. Callum feels an instant attraction to Vaughn when he first sees him, but due to some miscommunication their relationship starts off a bit rocky. They discover that sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to gain the best benefits. They realize that they are truly meant for each other despite it not being the smoothest course. I always enjoy the authors' stories, it doesn’t matter if they are paranormal or contemporary. They always give me a feeling of comfort for some reason, with the characters being very relatable regardless. Although this is part of the Lunar Wolves world, I had not read any of the previous stories and was still able to fully enjoy this tale. I will most likely pick up the previous story, just so I can learn more about the characters I was introduced to.
Love this series, this short novella helped fill in the references to this couple, in particular in Book 3. In the easy reading format with interesting characters that have some depth to them - Vaughn's overthinking feels quite familiar! - it did stop a little abruptly before we got the HEA tie up. But we do follow the couple in the main series so not the last we see of them.
Just one thing - although I know this is in common use in USA, please don't use the word spazz, spazzing etc as this is highly offensive to the cerebral palsy community. Even in Australia in the 80s we knew that wasn't a good word to use, but hopefully the awareness that disability advocate and writer Hannah Diviney has raised with the recent songs by Beyonce and Lizzo may see this use finally disappearing.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
Callum is a lunar wolf who just entered a room where a witch was working to do some repair work. Something happens and Callum is being woken up by the witch who his wolf claims is his mate. To make things even weirder, they are both totally naked for unknown reasons. Callum is determined to work his way his witch's heart.
Vaughn is a witch who has gone into animal healing. He just moved to town in hopes of starting a new life away from his family since he hasn't gone into the witch familiar field. The problem is there isn't many animals in the city and the city has been locked down. Vaughn is struggling to make ends meet. When Callum offers to share his house, Vaughn's life turns around. He has fallen for Callum but he knows that Callum could never want Vaughn for more than one night.
Orbit is a short and sweet novella for the Lunar wolves series by Kiki Burrelli. I have loved reading the series and the plots of those books, this is very much like a bit of light relief in between those books. Vaughn is adorable, clumsy and doesn't think much of himself, whereas Callum is immediately taken by the witch and his wolf is in full agreement. Crossed wires mean that they have a bit of a false start, though. Vaughn's low self esteem has him assuming Callum wouldn't want him and Callum is self sacrificing enough to be around the man he and his wolf want to mate with but not make a move on. There's a bit of possessive jealousy that always brings a good amount of heat and it's an easily enjoyable, low angst romance. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
No one is more surprised than Callum when he awakes to find himself naked and so is the beautiful witch in the room with him. Vaughn is not sure what happened either but Callum is certain they are meant to be together. Vaughn is sure that Callum will find he is too much. He is socially insecure and tends to turn off prospective dates. Callum is just as sure that is not true for him but he has to face many things before they can come together.
Orbit is truly a feel-good story. Vaughn has such trouble imagining anyone wanting to with him, but Callum is sure he can convince him. Vaughn’s family does interfere as do others in town. Short, sweet and incredibly complete with enough heat to warm up anyone, Orbit is one story you should get if you enjoy paranormal and MM.
'Look at that. You didn’t accidentally knock him out again and melt off his clothes.'
I enjoyed this book. I fell in love with these two characters so incredibly quick! Callum and Vaughn were so cute together and their chemistry immediate. So immediate it caused unconsciousness and a naked accident. Definitely a unique meet-cute! Callum's inner dialogue with his wolf was outright hilarious at times and I couldn't get the smile off my face. However, the dreaded miscommunication trope reared it's ugly head and separated them for 30% of the book- which sounds small, but it's a short read, and ends at 86%. It feels like they got no real time as a couple, and Vaughn never gets over his low self esteem issues. Ending was abrupt. I would read more in this series. 4 stars.
I loved this quick read about Vaughn and Callum, a socially awkward witch and a handsome werewolf who meet and are attracted to each other in Crescent City. It's sweet and sexy with fun internal wolf dialogue and humorous rambling by the human witch. There is a fun, naked meet-cute, followed by some misunderstandings and family drama on the way to HEA, but the story is mostly angst-free. This was my first read in Crescent City, and I will be looking for the related full-length books to learn more about this town where diverse packs and other supernaturals mingle.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
It was nice to return to this world to see a couple who were side characters through the other books. These were characters that you saw here and there in nearly each book, but now you get to see some of those events through their POVs.
But if you like misunderstanding stories that come back around, then you will like this. You have Callum and Vaughn who meet by chance in an explosive (literally) way. Then a great date, then both parties make some bad judgements and things just fall apart. But no worries, it's and HEA with them finding their way back to each other.
The book was well-written and kept my attention throughout. The story kept me guessing and their meet cute was pretty funny. The MC’s had an instant connection and their chemistry was amazing. Callum and Vaughn make such a cute couple, even as they have quite a lot of things to work out between them. It was satisfying to watch them fall in love, even among all the chaos and problems that had arisen. This is a book in the Lunar Wolves series, but you can read this book as a standalone.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Callum and Vaughan are a pair of goobers! Talk about a misunderstanding and it keeps them apart for a bit until they can figure it all out. This is a cute little novella set in the world of Crescent City. It has been a while since I read the other books and I don’t remember all the details of the earlier ones. I may have to go back and reread them. But this is worth a read just for these two.
Vaughan is beyond adorable, but as hes always being ignored after or during a first date he never expects much. Callum gets the shock of his life when his mate accidentally knocks them both out. But finding the naked witch more than makes up for it.
When a slight miscommunication ends a good first date, Callum finally gets the chance to fix things as Vaughans roomate. I loved Callum staking a claim infront of Vaughans sister, but I could also picture Spike having a crush on Callum also.
This was an unexpected bonus, after seeing the two of them in Force. They had an instant attraction and seemed to be fated mates, but a misunderstanding left each of them unhappy and alone. I would have liked a longer novella, with a bit more of them together because it ended very abruptly. It wasn't really long enough to keep them apart for as long as they were, but I did enjoy getting more Lunar Wolves so that's a plus.
This was such a sweet short story in the crescent city world, these two are so adorable together and so silly. A misunderstanding causes some unintended pain for a bit but once they clear it up everything changes. They fall in love so quickly but when it comes to werewolves and their mates it usually happens pretty fast. It was the perfect mood lifter and oh so good. 😀❤️
This is a novella by the wonderful Kiki Burrelli! This is Callum and Vaughn's story and I loved it! The series is amazing and I was so glad to finally get a chance to read Callum and Vaghn's story! Of course I would have loved for it to be a full novel but we can't always get everything we want! :) I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review!
This book was pretty good. I don’t feel like there was as much character development as I would like, especially because Vaughn REALLY annoyed me with the negative self talk, so it would have been nice to see him grow out of that as he gained confidence. But it was a novella, so not long enough for that. Cute story, my favorite character was Spike the snake.
I am a huge fan of Kiki Burrelli and the Universe she created for the Lunar Wolves series so this nice addition to it was an unexpected treat. I enjoyed Callum and Vaughn story, with all the misunderstandings and twists and turns on it and how the author managed the resolution of the plot. Another great reading in this series! Loved it so much!
This was such a heart warming and funny read. I really enjoyed reading this book. Vaughn was such a dorky and nervous character that had you falling in love with him instantly; and Callum was his strong softhearted rock that just made your heart melt. This is an amazing world with amazing characters and I look forward to seeing what's next.
This was a wonderful adventure. I enjoyed the storyline and how the characters come together. This is a enjoyable and exciting story with great characters and a good ending. Can’t wait for more.
Sweet but short novella. A perfect addition to this series! Callum and Vaughn are adorable together. Well written, steamy and sweet. My only complaint would be that I wish it was longer with an epilogue of their HEA. I received this book from GRR and these are my honest opinions.
I’ve only read one of the other books in this series but am now going to go back and read from the start I think it was book 4 I had read and this is book 1.5 it was a good short read but I feel I need to read all the books now in order.
A novella out of context, but I am going to have to examine this author's universe further. Cullom is an adorable character, if a bit insecure. Vaughn needs a lot of help, unfortunately. It looks like he will get what he needs now.
Vaughn is adorable yet awkward witch that finds himself in a weird predicament when he meets Callum. Callum and his wolf know that Vaughn is theirs and now they just need to make him aware of it. This is a cute, sweet novella that keeps you entertained.
This was quite an entertaining read. The main characters, Vaughn and Callum are really good. Some of their secondary characters are selfish and leave a bit to be desired, that just means they are written well. I liked it a lot! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This is a short and sweet story following Callum and Vaughn. It was fun reading how Callum realised that Vaughn was his mate. Though things don’t go smoothly with their mis understanding and a meddling sister.
Got some nice chuckles from Vaughn the clutzy witch and adored the way Callum was willing to accept him as he is. These two have some serious work to do on their communication skills but I enjoyed reading about their ups and downs.
