This book is an autobiography of my life. I was born and raised in Parowan, Utah. My story is about the various joys, the unbelievable heartaches and my struggle to overcome hardships. In over-coming these hardships the book was written to share with others of the community ... Downwind and to let them know that they can win the battle as I did, and go on to help others who are struggling.
I talk about the needless suffering and the loss of loved ones, because we lived Downwind of the above ground tests of the atomic bomb. I lost three beautiful little girls and I am not the only one who lost a loved one. So many people in the community have suffered with cancer and the aftermath of watching with broken hearts as their family members, friends and neighbors were lowered into graves in the cemetery at the foot of Red Mountain.
I could find no one to help me when I lost my children and no one to talk to when I had cancer. My friends and family were suffering in their own way and I could not talk to them. As a result of having no one to communicate with, I tried to take my own life. I want people to know that there is help out there for them through volunteers like myself and other support groups.
I have had five different kinds of cancer. I have endured chemotherapy and radiation. My body has been scarred because of many operations. My hope is that this story will help others who have to go through the suffering, to survive the battle with cancer, and to win the war.
Sandra Walsh is the author of new adult and funny ha-ha romance. In a former life, she used her degree in psychology for the good of mankind, but she has since left the corporate world to concentrate on her true loves: her kids, writing, and finding errant commas—not necessarily in that order. An Australian uproot with a penchant for wine and the sweeter things in life (send chocolate, please), Sandra has found herself settled in Vancouver, Canada, with a partner-who-won’t-commit, three minions, and two Tamaskans.
