How does Diane Capri manage to give us so many totally engaging characters in her various series of novels?? She is a writing juggernaut!

Jess Kimball is back and better than ever. She has finally located her long-lost son, Peter, and is struggling with wanting to be closer without being intrusive toward Peter's adoptive family. As she walks that tightrope, her instincts as an investigative reporter are as strong as ever.

This time, she is thrown a softball by her boss. He wants her to write a piece on road rage. Jess zeroes in on a fatality apparently involving a road rage incident. Or did it? The victim was a computer hacker/expert working for a major bank. The CEO was close to the victim and about to make a huge financial move with the victim as one of his key players. What's going on? And how big and deep does this get?

In Capri's trademark style, which quickly immerses you in her storyline and keeps the pages turning right through the last chapter, the plot begins to unfold, and the action ramps up. As usual, the ending is satisfying while leaving you eager for more.

What I love about Diane's work is that she fashions characters that evoke strong emotions, giving you enough backstory to keep you deeply invested but also providing enough action to maintain a high level of suspense and excitement.

I get a prepublication copy in return for an objective review. But I enjoy these novels so much that I also pick up hard copies for my library just so I can revisit them from time to time.

Jess Kimball has found her son Peter now known as Steven who has grown up very happily with his adopted family. Jess is allowed visitation rights and she is trying to take advantage of participating in the little 'childhood' he has left.

After reporting back to work her boss has come up with her next assignment Roadrage. She is very astounding the number of cases happening in just Denver each month. Carter gives her several files and the one she selects just might not be what it seems. As the story grows things others might see appear not to be related but Jess seems to have a 5th sense on picking them up.

Diane's books draw you in with the artistry of her writing. You can feel the snow on the trees, smell the air and imagine the characters it's almost like you are really there. Her stories embrace you from the start and you are hooked in the best possible way.

It was so nice to be included advanced readers group so I could let you know what a treat this book is!

Jess Kimball, an investigative reporter, discovers evidence at a potential road rage accident scene that peaks her interest in a possible attempt of murder that begins an interesting and dangerous investigation. Meanwhile an ex-Army sniper, Theo Kahler, realizes a mistake he made at the same crash scene, could uncover his identity and expose the reason for the driver’s death. What happens next is a dangerous time for Jess as she unknowingly becomes a deadly target of Kahler. It leads to several attempts to kill her and she has no idea what’s behind the attacks. It’s another fast moving and complicated mystery that Capri has woven for us.

This story by Diane Capri is an excellent read. Often the writer can get lost in the story when there are many individuals involved that one must take notes as to who's who. This was an easy read with great action and danger. Jess Kimball is asked to help out a man whose brother was he believed, murdered. As she goes about looking for this individual she is put into much danger involving bank employees and drugs. I can't wait for the next story as Jess goes about furthering her education which will enable her to do more than "help" the authorities. I recommend this book to all mystery lovers.

Jess Wins Again!

This is an enthralling addition to the Jess Kimbal series. I continue to be awed by Diane Capri's ability to draw the reader into the story within the first few pages of anything she writes. This book is no different. The plot is intense and convoluted enough to insist the reader invest just a few more pages before taking a break many times over. Jess is still taking chances she knows she probably shouldn't and putting the pieces together to make the reader glad to be involved. Definitely a book to advance this series and interest in Jess.

What started as probable road rage turned out to be much messier

I've read several of Diane's Hunt for Jack Reacher series so I thought I'd try something else of hers.
This is not the start of the series but it works well as a complete story without needing to have read the whole series.
It's a page turner. Highly recommended.

Once again Jess Kimball proves that when there’s a mystery to be solved, she’s the one to do it. A car crash, a possible murder, don’t miss out. Intriguing and suspenseful.
