I absolutely love the way that Carolyn Miller writes. She weaves so much emotion and faith into her stories and it is no exception with this new series. We meet Cassie James who is a ranch that has a huge heart for God. She gets more than she bargains for when a Hollywood production company comes into town. Here we meet Harrison Woods. Oh man the banter between these two was perfection.
I loved how the characters were real and you could relate with their struggles and rejoice in their happiness. You felt like you were one with the story. Every word really captured who God wants us to be and when in need He is the one we must turn to. He will wrap us in his arms and completely feel loved.
I'm not going to tell you too much because you really need to experience this story but know that it was deep and lovely. I can't wait to read the next installment of this story!

This story was such a joy to read! The meet cute and subsequent times that Harrison and Cassie had run ins on the set and on the ranch were so fun to observe. Realizing that Harrison had jumped to the wrong conclusion about who Cassie was added to the enjoyment in those early meetups.
The author created believable interest and attraction between the two main characters and dealt with the reality that Harrison was not a believer. I liked that Cassie was strong enough to realize that she needed to be careful regarding falling for Harrison if he didn’t have the same beliefs are she did. And I also appreciated that Cassie began to realize that the way she had been reacting in frustration to Harrison was an indication that she was not living out her faith in the way she probably should. She had growing to do, just as he did.
Harrison was quite the character! He had some serious and raw pain from his childhood, along with good memories of his grandmother, who had been a godly woman. I liked seeing the change in him as the story progressed.
This is the first book in a new series, but I like the way it is connected to Hannah and Franklin’s story in Fire and Ice, with Cassie and Franklin being siblings. The author did a great job of incorporating some other characters from various stories, too. You can, also, easily enjoy this book without having read the other books where some of these characters appear. But for those of us who have read the other books, it is really fun to catch up with some of these characters. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I love, love, love this book! Not only because of its setting on a western film lot and the themes of reliance on the Holy Spirit and having God as our perfect heavenly Father—though these certainly contribute to my hearty endorsement for this book—but also because A Cameo for a Cowgirl pointed me to the Bible and had me examining my own life as to whether I was guilty of the things that Cassie and Harrison were both grappling with. I truly enjoyed this story and the references to other characters that I'm becoming familiar with among the author's other books. It's quite a special universe she has created with such down-to-earth characters whom you want to befriend.
The spiritual scenes are masterfully crafted and are a source of encouragement to Christians that their words and actions can impact others, especially when we are obedient to the prompting of God. I always look forward to a Carolyn Miller book as I know that I will be in for a spiritual journey that has much heart, humour, and charm to it. The characters honour each other and most importantly, honour God. I have not had to worry about anyone taking too much of a leap into a relationship before things are settled, which allows for both prudence and wisdom to shine forth in establishing godly relationships. I love the writing, the amazingly in-depth details provided, and the utter selflessness on display between characters. Readers looking for a believable trek into a western film lot will root for a story that is all about drawing hearts toward God.

I absolutely adored A Cameo for a Cowgirl by Carolyn Miller! It’s the first book in her newest series, Three Creek Ranch. If you’ve read Miller’s Northwest Ice series, you may recognize some of the characters – in particular, Franklin James, hockey star. The Three Creek Ranch series revolves around Franklin’s sisters, and in A Cameo for a Cowgirl, Cassie James is the star.
Three Creek Ranch is Cassie’s home. and she takes care of the onsite Western town where movies and television shows are shot. She’s in charge of a lot, and it gets stressful. Cassie also told her brother and Hannah, her best friend, that she’d take care of planning their wedding. Needless to say, she’s stressed! When the cast and crew of As the Heart Draws descends upon the lot to shoot their new season, Cassie is ready. Then she meets Harrison Woods, the newest actor on the show. Their meet cute is quite cute, if a little “violent.” That one instance was bad enough, but for some reason, Cassie keeps treating Harrison badly. He has no clue what Cassie’s role on the show is, and Cassie assumes he’s just some jerk actor. This leads to some hilarious interactions that you’ll just have to read about in A Cameo for a Cowgirl!
I love, love, love the characters! In addition to his absolute swoony-ness, Harrison has a lot of depth to his character. I’d be spoiling it for you if I told you much more about that, but it was so moving watching his character growth. Cassie exhibits all of the tell-tale signs of a Type A personality who thinks she can do it all. Of course, she tries to do it all, and it stresses her out! She has a terrible attitude toward Harrison, but after some gentle nudges from her sisters and the Holy Spirit, Cassie realizes she is not portraying a Christ-like attitude.
One of the things I love most about A Cameo for a Cowgirl is how much the author includes faith and Christianity. Miller lays out the plan of salvation so clearly that it would be impossible for a non-Christian to say they’ve never heard about Jesus’s sacrifice for our sins and God’s love for his children. I’d say most of us who read inspirational fiction are Christians, and as a Christian, I felt convicted by it. Sometimes we don’t act too much differently than non-Christians. We have bad attitudes, hold grudges, get mad when people cut us off in traffic, etc. We are supposed to be different! I really appreciated how Cassie followed the Holy Spirit’s leading when she felt convicted about the way she’d been treating Harrison and her general attitude. Reading novels like this makes me want to be a better Christian. So, while we get an adorable, sweet romance novel, we get so much more!
I highly recommend A Cameo for a Cowgirl! The fun interactions among the characters, the beautiful ranch setting, the swoony romance, and the presentation of the gospel make this a novel I wholeheartedly recommend!

BOOK REVIEW - A Cameo for a Cowgirl - Carolyn Miller - 4/5 Stars
THE STORY
I'm a big fan of Carolyn Miller's books, she was writing some amazing Hockey Romance way before it was popular, written some awesome Regency Romances and a whole host of contemporary fiction. Now she's added a contemporary western romance to the list and it was such an enjoyable read! Relatable, romantic and wholesome. The twist of being set on a ranch and a movie set was really fun. I'm always a fan of a well written strong FMC, you'll love Cassie and you're heart will melt for Harrison (well maybe not at first for either of them, but they'll grow on you as you get to know them both). I also loved seeing characters from her other stories making appearances in the story.
THE ROMANCE
Strap in for the long haul, this one's a slow slow burn but with lots of simmering on the way to thar eventual kiss! I only like enemies to more when it's done well and Carolyn Miller did a great job on this one!
THE TRUTHS
So many good truths in this one, a very strong Christia novel, but what stood out to me was the reminder of the importance of following the spirits promting. We can get so caught up in our lives and own agendas and too often miss the promoting of the spirit of God pushing us towards better pathways or impactful encounters. So remember to take the time to pause and listen, the Lord has good things in store for us.

Carolyn Miller writes a fresh inspirational western romance with engaging, realistic characters.
I loved many things about this novel. The setting and set up of using a western backlot set on a Canadian ranch hooked me from the opening lines. I instantly felt Cassie’s plight.
Harrison’s character experienced a dramatic transformation between the opening lines and the end of the book. Though he initially comes across like a jerk to others, his internal monologue reveals an awareness of it and a desire to change which had me rooting for him.
The chemistry between Cassie and Harrison starts out somewhat antagonistically. They both struggle with leaving the tension in their relationship alone and desire to improve their interactions.
I particularly enjoyed the awkward and funny scenes the author devised to throw the two characters together. Marvelously done!
Fans of Christian western romance, inspirational romance, and clean & wholesome romance will enjoy this engaging and occasionally funny story.
Romance: Very clean descriptions of attraction. Light kissing.
Faith: Return to Christian faith for one character. The other character sought to apply her faith and listen to the wise counsel of her family.

Seriously, how does this author keep writing books this good? I love them! They always affect me. This one had me frustrated, laughing, crying, nervous, and convicted. I loved Cassie’s journey as she realized she’d been so busy that she’d forgotten to put God’s leading first in her life. That’s where the conviction came in for me. When she prays for forgiveness, I just had to sit and pray that prayer as well. I needed that reminder.
And then Harrison’s journey to accepting Christ was sweet as well.
Overall, I once again fell in love with Carolyn Miller’s sweet love story. And ended it with contentment and a smile on my face.

Carolyn Miller is an author I was introduced to by accident. But I really have enjoyed her writing. Belief in God and living according to His Word is forefront in her writing and I really like that. Her books focus on HOW we should live and how that impact the most basic portions of our daily lives. She hones in on the ways in which living for God will change the little things in our lives, not just the big ones, and that allows her characters to be realistic and relatable.
Cassie and Harrison are the two main characters in A Cameo for a Cowgirl, though we have many secondary characters that are recognizable if you have read other stories from Carolyn Miller. These two are opposites in many ways but there are traits in each that I can really identify with. They are both hard-working and both look out for others. They are opposites in their beliefs – Cassie is a Christian and will only date looking towards marriage and thus, only Christians; Harrison is not a Christian but is drawn to Cassie and what she and her family have built.
Harrison’s background is not one that I am personally familiar with but I really like the way his character is redeemed throughout the story – by God (though I know that God’s word teaches that salvation only comes through baptism, not praying a prayer or asking God into your heart), by looking out for others (he recognizes abuse patterns in another and helps find courage to get out of the relationship), and by seeing his own need to change. It made for a really good character that was able to change and grow, while it didn’t seem to create a false or unrealistic character.
Cassie’s background is the one I relate to more- intact family structure, religion being a major family focus, and serving others through the role where God has placed you. I also relate to Cassie’s struggle of judging others and not really trusting your own feelings. Again, this made a true character that was a pleasure to read the story and see the growth of.
If you don’t know Carolyn Miller’s writing, you should. Honest characters searching for ways to make themselves better, to increase their worth through how they act and mature and grow, and seeking God as the only one who can truly increase their value are the hallmarks of her writing and worth every enjoyable moment of each story.

Cassie’s background is the one I relate to more- intact family structure, religion being a major family focus, and serving others through the role where God has placed you. I also relate to Cassie’s struggle of judging others and not really trusting your own feelings. Again, this made a true character that was a pleasure to read the story and see the growth of.
If you don’t know Carolyn Miller’s writing, you should. Honest characters searching for ways to make themselves better, to increase their worth through how they act and mature and grow, and seeking God as the only one who can truly increase their value are the hallmarks of her writing and worth every enjoyable moment of each story.

As the quiet, simple setting of the period drama works on him, Harrison begins to think about things in a different way. Some of the people he meets at Three Creek Ranch and on the set of As the Heart Draws have a powerful effect on him, including a grumpy cowgirl.
It is interesting to get into Cassie's mind and see all she is feeling and her confusion about her own attitude. I was glad Harrison's internal debates counterbalanced it. It made the story more compelling to see where each was coming from in the course of their verbal exchanges; not all were argumentative. Both seem eager to prove themselves in what they are doing, seeking worth in their deeds and accomplishments. Overall, this was a good read, and I enjoyed getting to know the James family more. I will read *anything* by Carolyn Miller. And I'm thrilled to have gotten to read her newest, A Cameo for a Cowgirl, the first novel in her new Three Creek Ranch series! Heroine Cassie really is in the "heroine" category. She is a huge help to her dad in running their enormous Canadian ranch. She handles relationships and contracts when movie and tv studios come to their ranch's Western town for filming. (As well as caring for costumes and all the items used in filming.) In fact, she probably doesn't quite take enough time for herself to rest from all her responsibilities. And that may explain why the newest heartthrob of the series, Harrison Woods, rubs her the wrong way. She just doesn't have enough emotional bandwidth to deal with a movie star diva.
For his part, Harrison cannot understand for the life of him why Cassie is so abrupt with him. Not to mention irritated. Okay, he might have been dismissive of her a time or two. And maybe a bit demanding. But at the same time, he is fascinated by her. She's lovely. And capable. And oh. Maybe she is a real cowgirl. If he could only get her to stop avoiding him.

Finally, my very first Carolyn Miller story! I’ve been trying to get to her books for years and A CAMEO FOR A COWGIRL did not disappoint. Cassie helps run her family’s ranch, Three Creek Ranch which is also used as a movie filming location. It is where she meets Harrison Woods who is starring in the TV show, Where the Heart Draws. Cassie and Harrison get off on the wrong foot and Cassie draws the conclusion that Harrison is basically a Hollywood diva! Harrison thinks Cassie works for the TV show and this is just another example of people not communicating. Their interactions with each other will have you giggling out loud.
Once Harrison learns the truth of who Cassie is and meets her family, he wants what she has. He never had a loving family, A family who has more your back no matter what, or such strong faith. Cassie and Harrison become friends after having a heart to heart talk. A CAMEO FOR A COWGIRL now has Cassie struggling with her feelings for Harrison. She likes him, but can’t fall for him because they do not share the same beliefs. He can’t say that he is a Christian and that is very important to Cassie.

I am not usually a cowboy/cowgirl type of reader, but this one was fantastic. There was romance, but there was also real life issues that were addressed. The cast of characters were fabulous as well.
Three Creek Ranch is owned by the James Family. They also have a complete Western movie set that can be rented by production companies. Cassie James is a work horse. She works on the family's ranch, plus she is in charge of everything to do with the upkeep of the movie set. This girl is not afraid of work. Her brother is a professional hockey player who is always in the spotlight, but Cassie is content to work behind the scenes and fade into the background.
Harrison Woods is the newest member of the cast of the television show. He starts grumbling from the beginning about the accommodations and his lack of his own sense of direction. He comes across as a real diva. Cassie is immediately turned off by his behavior and lashes out him several times. There is one particularly comedic scene that made me laugh so hard.
This was almost a grump vs. grump story. However, as I learned more about Harrison, I understood where some of his seemingly "diva wants" were coming from. His childhood scarred him.
I loved the strength and stamina that Cassie possessed. She had strong work ethic and immovable moral values. Her faith was steadfast and solid, and she shared it with those around her. She always felt guilty about her bad behavior around Harrison. The camaraderie of the cast of characters were so much fun to read about. The James sisters were a hoot. There were also some very exciting scenes that provided a little more drama. This was not your average cowboy romance. It was so much more. It was just good, clean fun.

This is how you start a series! Wow! This was such a good novel!! I love the grouchy/sunshine troupe and Harrison and Cassie couldn’t be better models of these attributes. Cassie has a sunny, positive outlook, is all about family, and lives with her heart on her sleeve. Harrison is an actor that is getting his shot at a lead, but he also had a chip on his shoulder and has some pretty thick walls built up around his heart.
I loved Carrie showing her sassy side to Harrison and I was living for the whole enemies-to-lovers that dominated this novel. I also loved the tongue-in-cheek moments. There were scenes that had me smirking and it’s been awhile since I’ve audibly chuckled. It was nice having moments where I audibly giggled, especially at the antics that befell the hero, but then there were moments where the characters searched their souls for clarity, and I felt those moments down to my own core. They are thoughts I’m sure all of have pondered at one time or another and they hit hard.
I love seeing characters come back and check in and there were quite a few name drops that got me all giddy and even more excited for this series. I enjoyed reading this novel so much! The characters are wonderful, the plot kept me interested, and I could see this breathtaking ranch so vividly. I cannot wait for the next novel in the series!

This was a very sweet romance that had Cassie and Harrison starting out as annoyed by each other but slowly changed into an attraction. Due to some misunderstandings and Harrison complaining and being a little difficult, Cassie was frustrated with him but it was nice to see him change as the book progressed. Cassie's a Christian but was having a hard time showing kindness to him so she had some things to learn about walking the walk and he also had a lot to learn about faith and what God being like a father really meant since his was an abusive one and that's all he knew. They both grew throughout the book, spiritually and emotionally. There were some good conversations about faith, too, which was nice. There was some fun banter, sweet romance and funny moments. The setting was beautiful and it was also fun to picture the western town. It was nice seeing such a strong female character and also seeing the male out of his element and needing some help, which also made for some funny situations. I liked that they were both imperfect and had stuff to work on. I can't wait to read the next in the series and also to read the hockey series that's related to this. I highly recommend it!

Cassie has a lot on her plate, what with helping her dad around the family ranch, running the ranch's movie set and planning her brother's wedding, and the last thing she needs is a leading man who finds fault with everything - not to mention being afraid of mice! And Harrison in his turn isn't impressed with what he assumes is an overly critical production assistant. As events throw them together and mould them, can they learn to look past the surface and see what really matters - and to each make what matters in themselves worth seeing?
A delightful, relatively light but still meaningful read, with plenty of humour, an interesting storyline and an inspirational message. I loved the way that Cassie's family worked together, each with their own strengths and supporting each other. Of course, things don't always go smoothly, which is realistic, but overall it's an encouraging picture. I also enjoyed watching Cassie and Harrison gradually get to know each other and develop as people. Plenty of fun situations, and the dual points of view beautifully show them each finding fault with the other, but also not necessarily satisfied with their own behaviour (particularly early on in both cases). The result is an entertaining and inspiring read - I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.

I have really come to enjoy Christian RomCom books. A Cameo for a Cowgirl by Carolyn Miller is the most recent book in this genre that I have read. It is Book 1 in Three Creek Ranch series. I have read other books by Carolyn Miller and I am excited about this new series.
WOW, this story was a hit from beginning to end. The 2 main characters of the book, Cassie James and Harrison Woods are very relatable to everyday life in today's society. I really LOVE that Cassie helps her Dad manage their Ranch and they also allow movies to film on their Ranch. Cassie and Harrison meet while Harrison is filiming a TV series on the Ranch. Cassie is a strong Christian and Harrison is not a believer. Cassie is worried that Harrison is hiding something, yet she sees her feelings toward him growing. I really LOVE how Cassie realizes she is being unfair in her response to Harrison and she isn't standing in her faith as strong as she was. The changes in both Cassie and Harrison throughout the book, was amazing. The book is about Faith, Family, LOVE and Growth. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance! This wasn’t just a story, it was an adventure and one leaving me wishing I was Cassie, living life on Three Creek Ranch even with all of the challenges associated with this existence. And with the crew of As The Heart Draws filming on the property of their western movie set, a whole new set of challenges presented itself with the new leading man, the arrogant Harrison Woods. How the author so creatively tied the characters, the plot and the consistent theme of the One who made it all possible is nothing less than pure genius! I am eagerly awaiting the next installment!

Another 5 star read from Carolyn Miller. We met Cassie and her family in Fire and Ice, and there was plenty of appearance of other characters from previous books.
Cassie was really easy for me to connect with as we see her joy in her work and her frustration with people. Harrison was a fabulous character as escapades brought a lot of life to this story.

I enjoyed reading this sweet and sassy inspirational romance. It was nice to see some familiar characters from Carolyn Miller’s hockey and Muskoka Shores series make an appearance. Cassie and Harrison’s witty banter and the honest, heartfelt conversations the characters had with each other made them seem like real people. I was encouraged and challenged by the biblical truths that were unapologetically addressed in the story, and I ended up highlighting many quotes that stood out to me. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

I knew I was going to love this book; and I did! A Carolyn Miller story set in Canada with horses—what’s not to love? Cassie James manages the movie set on her family ranch. When she first meets new boy, Harrison Wood, on the set, sparks fly, setting the scene for a wonderful story full of laugh out loud moments, funny misunderstandings and the kind of banter you know you’re going to get with one of Carolyn’s books. If you’re looking for a fun read with beautiful spiritual truths, this is the book for you. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed Cassie and Harrison’s story! They were not on the best of terms when they met due to a few things that happened. They became closer as time goes on, but Cassie won’t date a non-believer. Harris on even talks to her father to get advice and he helps him out. As Cassie sees the changes he has made in his life, she sees real possibilities for them. I highly recommend this wonderful story!

Ok, this book was really good. I found it amusing at the beginning how much Cassie went out of her way to dislike Harrison. I am a sucker for a good enemies to lovers book, lol. Harrison changed a lot, but it did feel kind of sudden when he became a Christian. He was sincere about it though. Harrison was really sweet to her.
Cassie struggles with how she was dealing with Harrison in a not a Christ-like way made it more real as well.

I always love how Ms. Miller combines a sweet romance with a Christian lifestyle. This one did that well. The way several people poured truth about God into Harrison was great to see. Cassie’s Dad was a strong positive influence on him. To be honest, it took me a while to like Cassie. I realize she was busy and had a lot of pressure on her, but her attitude towards Harrison was terrible and she just wasn’t likable. I’m glad she came around. I certainly enjoyed this family.

I loved to read this story about Cassie, who was introduced to me in Franklin and Hanna's story ("Faking the shot" also by Carolyn Miller, that I can also recommend). This story in "A Cameo for a Cowgirl" is wonderful and is about maintainig a relationship with God in stressful situations and that it's not wise to date unbelievers, which both really spoke to me.

I always enjoy Carolyn's books and look forward to a new one enough to reread any others in a series.
I love the way each one is stand-alone, but 'seeing' familiar faces can always add extra to my enjoyment.
I love the deep Christian teaching she can have Harrison learning, reinforcing it for me.
I always enjoy Carolyn's books and look forward to a new one enough to reread any others in a series.
I love the way each one is stand-alone, but 'seeing' familiar faces can always add extra to my enjoyment.
I love the deep Christian teaching she can have Harrison learning, reinforcing it for me.

What a great story of a man and woman beginning as unlikely friends and ending up being so much more.
