During their gap year travelling, besties, Nico and Olivia drunkenly agree that if they are both still single at forty, they’ll marry each other.

What they didn’t know that night in Thailand is that fate has something else planned for them…both!

At the last minute, Nico decides to change his plans and heads to Florence for university instead of Oxford. Olivia, perturbed at not being made part of his decision and for finding out at the last minute, heads off to university in Reading. She’s never had to be apart from Nico, so she anticipates her first year of uni to be stressful.

Sophie’s well-planned-out life takes a detour when she gets pregnant her first year at uni and decides, at the last minute, to marry the baby’s father. Her marriage doesn’t go according to plan either and it breaks up five years later leaving her as a single mom to raise Jacob. When she feels like she’s got her life back on track, she receives a call from Nico - he wants her to come to Italy for his wedding.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story about second chances, the gift of friendship, the benefits of making room for life’s experiences in our journey and the joy that we can experience when we learn to take the focus off ourselves and put it on others. Most of all, I appreciated the warning about listening to our inner voice and the encouragement about speaking up for what we want out of life.

Don’t miss out on what I believe is French’s best book yet!

I was gifted this copy by Avon Books UK and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Wedding season is almost upon us and this is the book to read for your summer romance fix!

The beautifully described setting sets the backdrop for true romance to flourish. The author is blessed with the gift of poetry in her writing skills- her words come naturally, and ebb and flow as they should- I did not feel like I was reading a book... it all felt so real. Nico and Olivia belong together- nothing and no one could change that fate. Their journey was heartwarming and flourished despite all the obstacles.

Annabel French is one of my favorite authors so I am thrilled that her latest book did not disappoint me. This is a gorgeous, second chance romance that made my heart slip away from the world, and melt in clouds of happiness.

French delivers... again.

I thank the author and publisher for an ARC of this book published on April 11, 2024. All opinions given are my own.

A wedding At The Chateau is a heartwarming rom com novel by Annabel French.
This is the first book that I have read by the author and I will definitely be reading more by her. The setting in the book is beautiful, sometimes I forgot I was reading as I actually felt that I was a character in the book.
The story was easy to follow and beautifully written. If second chance romance novels are your type of novel, then this is for you. I can't recommend it enough and I will definitely be reading more by the author.
💖 Thank you to Avon books for my copy of the book and having me on the Avon Summer Of Love campaign in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free copy of, A Wedding at the Chateau, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 in The Chateau series. Nico, Olivia's bff, is getting married in Italy. Olivia used to dram about marrying Nico, now he is marrying someone else, and she is invited to the wedding. Olivia is a lovely person and friend, one we would all like to have, Sophia not so much. This such a sweet story of friendship and romance.

Wedding’s are notorious for bring everyone together. And in the case of Olivia and Nico, life long friends who took very different paths, it seems this wedding is going to be a challenge for both of them.

Olivia receives an invitation to Nico’s wedding in Tuscany. Although reluctant to go, as she reflects on everything that was once said and what has happened, Olivia goes.

Only to find herself planning the wedding as well, and the bride is somewhat reluctant to be apart of it all. But whose wedding is really planning her dream one or that of her best friend Nico.

Taken to the warmth of Tuscany, the Italian food and the Italian lifestyle, this is a perfect read to escape and to also remind yourself that perhaps following your heart is a better answer than following your head. Annabel French, manages to capture everything that you need in the perfect Happy Ever After book and then fill it with so much more.

This was the perfect summer/holiday read and the first book I have read read written by Annabel French. A Wedding at the Chateau is beautifully written, describing the beautiful locales of Tuscany that make you immediately want to book a flight and head out there! The story itself was interesting and I loved how the plot developed, taking us on a journey from the fateful night Nico and Olivia share, to the wedding in Italy, I enjoyed the little nuances shared throughout the book as Olivia reminisces of how her relationship with Nico has changed over the years and even how she comes into her own and plays to her strengths when planning all the arrangements for the wedding on her arrival. The fact that she still harbours feelings for Nico and is with him for alot of the planning made their moments incredibly magical; with Italy as the backdrop, this was pure escapism. There are many layers to the characters, and not all is how it would seem; the exploration of "not being perfect and that being perfectly ok" was dealt with well in the narrative; the story felt relatable and became the sweetest read for me. The supporting characters all had my heart; be it the locals who were willing to host/cater for the wedding last minute was wholesome, a real community feel, or Nico's family who were darlings, especially his dad and brothers! There was some slight repetition which kept this from being a 5 star for me, but it did not take away from how wonderful I thought this book was - I can't wait to read more from Annabel French. Although this book is number 3 in a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Thank you to Avon Books UK for the gifted copy of A Wedding at the Chateau and for letting me be a part of Avon's Summer of Love campaign.

My Opinion

This is a series that I am really enjoying. Each book can be read as a standalone. Olivia puts her doubts to one side and helps to plan Nico's wedding when the original plans fall through. It soon becomes clear that Olivia is not the only one having doubts about the wedding. This was a wonderful, second chance romance. With some lovely descriptions this is going to make for a fabulous summer read.

Olivia and Nico were close friends for years until he decided to move to Italy, where his mother was borne, to study for his degree. Although they kept in contact over the years, including her unsuccessful marriage and the birth of her son, but she is shocked when he invites her to his wedding in Italy to his short-term girlfriend. When the wedding venue falls through she is asked to make use of her event organisational skills to try to arrange a complete new wedding - in three weeks.
The location sounds wonderful, but why do authors always describe local food in such loving detail that I always feel hungry? Sophia, the bride to be, sounds like a real bridezilla and, if it was me in Olivia's place, I would have walked away in a very short time. Sophia does come across as very cold, but with a few human touches, but her mother sounds horrible. Olivia, on the other hand, comes across really well. Nico seems blind by love.....
A book to give you a sense of frustration whilst you hope for a good outcome, but well worth reading.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Olivia and Nico have been best friends for years, but their friendship has never developed into romance. However, years later, when Nico decides to marry Sophia, Olivia is invited to the wedding.

Set in beautiful Tuscany, Olivia wishes Nico was marrying her rather than the arrogant, spiteful Sophia. While Olivia and Nico are warm, friendly characters, Olivia and her family are cold and disdainful, making Olivia’s stay difficult. Due to their wedding venue being cancelled at the last minute, Olivia is called in to help the marriage go ahead.

I enjoyed reading this lighthearted, amusing story, and the interplay between characters. The Italian countryside and scenery is described so beautifully, you wish you were there. Character driven, this is a heartwarming story about two people who were made for each other, but due to circumstances, their friendship failed to turn into romance.

An enjoyable lighthearted, amusing story, not to be taken too seriously.

I really enjoyed this romantic tale of the one that got away. Nico and Olivia were such loveable characters that were perfect for each other. When Olivia is thrown in at the deep end, trying to plan a wedding in three weeks for her best friend and his frosty bride to be, I was immediately invested in the story. Italy is another character in the book that was decribed so well I felt like I could see and smell everything French describes, I could almost taste the food and swwet treats. This was a really enjoyable escape to Italy and I was pleased to see familar characters from the other chateau novels, though I think youd be able to read them as stand alone books. I love French's style of writing and found myself smiling and laughing at Olivia's antics, she really was a selfless friend and I was so pleased with the conclusion.

Thank you to Netgalley for an arc of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I really loved this story about Olivia and Nico who have been best friends since they were children and continued to be even after their trip the summer when they were going to be off to college, when he told her he was moving to Italy since that is where his deceased mother was born. Even after they went off in directions then they were still close Olivia found herself pregnant and married Jack even though he was not very grown up and Nico wasn't fond of him. But loved Jacob and was is godson. Nico helped her through a lot. Then she received a phone call from Nico inviting to his wedding. She took 2 weeks off and went to Italy before the wedding to visit with Nico and Jacob stayed with his dad and they were going over for the wedding. You must read this as Olivia and Nico go on this journey. This a GREAT READ,

Olivia and Nico have been best friends forever. On their last holiday, Nico tells Olivia that he wants to live in Italy to be close to where his mum and dad met. Olivia is heartbroken, but still, they maintain their friendship.
Olivia receives a call from Nico to tell her he is getting married and he wants her at the wedding.
Disaster strikes when their venue cancels in favour of a footballer. Cue Olivia being asked to arrange a new venue and everything else that a wedding entails.
Well, Sofia certainly lived up to the term Bridezilla. Honestly, she was just awful. Her mother was even worse! If I were Olivia, I would have told her to sort her own wedding. I couldn't see what Nico saw in her.
The setting sounded amazing. Blue skies, warm sunshine.
It's a lovely heartwarming read with love in the air.

Nico and Olivia were the best of friends in school. They never imagined they would go separate ways but then that is the path they each took.
The surprise Olivia got from Nico was an invitation to his wedding. He was getting married to Sofia, a bigger surprise was he had only known her six months.
Olivia replies she will be at the wedding. Things don’t go as planned for the wedding when Nico and Sofia find out they cannot have the venue that want. Olivia offers to help find a new venue. This does not go as well as Olivia had hoped it would. This is hard for her considering she still has feelings for Nico.
Reading this book was so enjoyable. The author makes everything feel so real.

The beginning of this story sets the scene wonderfully for a friends-to-lovers romance. Olive and Nico, best friends since primary school, have done everything together. After a travelling holiday, they are still only friends. The status quo prevails as the years pass until Nico requests Olive's presence at a life-changing event in Italy. The invitation forces Olive to admit her true feelings to herself, but Nico is set on a different outcome, seemingly oblivious to his best friend's torment. It is a lovely, romantic, and often humorous story. It is frustrating in parts when Nico seems blind to Olive's feelings. The ending is dramatic and romantic, and the journey there is evocative, with sensory descriptions of culture, food, people and places. I like this story's setting, relationships and gentle romance.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

In A Wedding at the Chateau, Author Annabel French introduces Olivia, a London event planner and her childhood friend, Nico who lives in Tuscany, Italy. He invites her to his wedding to Sophia, a media influencer who is both cold and selfish. When their venue plans fall through, Olivia has the herculean task of becoming the wedding planner.

She still has private feelings for Nico but she keeps them hidden as she tries to please Sophia and her overbearing mother, Adele. Olivia and Nico are constantly thrown together to find a place and work out the details because Sophia is too busy making videos to share with her followers. Could this be a mistake? Afterall, Nico and Olivia had promised each other that if they hadn’t married by the age of 40, they would marry each other. Pick up this 3rd book of the Chateau Series and find out what happens to Olivia, Nico and Sophia.

This was a lovely read. Olivia has been invited to her old friends wedding in Italy. At one point she thought that her future lay with Nico, but her life took a different path to the one she wanted. She arrives and doesn't gel with the bride to be. She finds herself completely in charge of organising their wedding when the original venue cancels last minute. I loved the travelling round the local area, finding the perfect wedding venue, food and tables etc. You really feel a part of the whole thing, whilst privately possibly hoping that the book will go in a different direction!
The characters are wonderful, Nico's family make up for the aloof hosts, The build up promises an absolutely beautiful wedding day.

What a fabulous read! I loved this one sooo much and it was the perfect read for this time of year.

The story follows Olivia as she travels to Italy for her best friend, Nico’s wedding.

She and Nico have been best friends for as long as she can remember, and although she is a little shocked about his impending marriage, she is quite happy to go on and help make Nico and Sofia’s wedding a reality.

There are such strong characters in this book, my favourites being Olivia, Nico, Giovanni and Maria. I laughed a fair bit when I read this one.

Italy is such a beautiful country and the author described it so well. I could just about smell the citrus in the air!

Amazing read.

I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Olivia and Nico long-time friends, life took them on different paths but they come together again when Olivia receives an invitation to Nico's wedding in Italy.

Nico's bride to be an 'Influencer' (don't we just love them-not in my case), and her interfering family are not what they seem, and Olivia can see they are definately not for each other, but also her feelings are stirring again for Nico.

The Brides wedding plans go belly up and Olivia steps in as the wedding planner.

A story of friendship, family, wedding dramas, and descriptions of beautiful Tuscony scenery.

I enjoyed the book, the last of a series I had listened too via audiobook.

Awaiting the Amsterdam book 2025 to come out in audio format.

Olivia is finally starting to get somewhere with her career and her thirteen year old son is happy and thriving when she gets a call from her best friend in the world Nico. He drops a giant bombshell on her, he is getting married and he wants her and Jacob to fly to Italy to join him.

Olivia not only realises she never got over loving him she also ends up planning his wedding!

Full of laughter, tears and heartache. This book will break your heart more than once before it’s mended. I loved all the hearty characters. Even the icy parents of the bride will give you a little chuckle. A perfect summer romance. I loved this story!

This is the third book in the Chateau series and it was the best by far. I could not put the book down.
It’s all about childhood friends Olivia and Nico meeting up for Nico’s wedding to a total bridezilla.
The setting was stunning and I could just imagine reading this on story lying on a sun lounger as it’s a perfect beach read.
I loved most of the characters such as Nico’s Dad and brothers but some not so much (no spoilers)
I’m hoping for a sequel hopefully in Greece.
A fantastic 5 star romantic read

I’m a massive fan of The Chateau series and this was no exception, possibly my favourite.
Olivia and Nico have been friends forever until Nico throws a spanner into the works while travelling.
Both continue to live separate life’s still keeping in touch with a close long distance friendship.
When Olivia gets a call from Nico one day out the blue asking her to come to Italy for his wedding everything Olivia thought she knew is thrown into turmoil.
Follow the story of Olive and Nico while Annabel French describes the stunning countryside of Italy.
Full of love and romance and a beautiful friendship.

A story of long time best friends who had a brief moment that they could have admitted it was becoming more than friendship, but didn't take it. They remain friends as the years pass and are thrown back together as Nico anniunces he is getting married and Olive goes to spend time with him only to end up as the wedding planner. I enjoyed this predictably but sweet story.
