I may be an omega and the daughter of a serial killer, but that doesn’t mean I can’t work as a private detective solving murders for high profile clients - clients like the ultra elite legacy alpha, Liam Valor.
I’ve been labeled defective all my life, but this new case is going to make my career. I just didn’t expect Liam, or his scary hot assistant, to affect me like this when no one else ever has.
How am I supposed to solve his brother’s murder when his pheromones have me falling all over myself to please an alpha for the first time in my life? And what am I supposed to do when they respond, forcing me to accept their care despite my protests?
Find the killer and solve the case so I can get out of their lives before their alpha BS dominates me right into heat, that's what. Because no matter how hot they are, they both have their own secrets, and I could never be their precious omega.
This book started well and then steadily went down hill. By the end I gave up and skipped the last couple of chapters.
The plot starts interesting, with a murder and an omega investigator, but there is quickly very little to do with the case and instead it focuses on the relationships, which I normally wouldn't mind too much, but the relationships aren't interesting either.
The characters motives make very little sense to me in regards to each other, Cas seems to fall in love with her immediately but there's no build up or chemistry between them. The relationship between her and Liam is based on the childhood friendship but we hardly see any of that at all.
It's mentioned that her dad taught her lessons, but then we're never told what they are. There are generally more questions than answers and I am aware that it's a duet but this felt unfinished.
Towards the end of the book it felt like all the characters are stuck in an endless loop in their own brains, saying the same things over and over, that they're fucked up or bad or bad for each other. Also where did Frankie disappear to?
Honestly, the plot disappeared as well and so did my interest.
If you'd asked me if I needed an omegaverse suspense story in my life. I would have told you no, and I would have been very very wrong. I do wish we would have gotten more of Lucy working the case before it morphed into heats, knots, and hormones. But it still was gripping and a fast pasted page tuner. The OV dynamics were also really interesting, I love when the ABO biology is pushed and expand, scents instead of auras used as displays of dominance alpha and omega tendencies not reserved for mated. All add to the suspense. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This book is deliciously dark and stabby. Please read the warnings. There are a lot of themes so don’t be a douche and not read the warnings and leave a messed up review. I love the characters. Lucy is my hero. I love how Liam and Cass compliment her psycho tendencies and she compliments theirs. I think Gideon’s wife killed him. That’s my hunch. Can’t wait for more.
I've only read two Emma Dean books, (both standalone, Why-Choose PNR) but I've been meaning to read more so when she came out with a menage detective thriller set in an omegaverse, I couldn't say no. Curvy Dirty Omega was fantastic.
This a menage, two guys, one girl. Lucy and Cassius try to fight their attraction which irritates me because all three of them are perfect for each other. At least Liam is all in from the start so that makes me feel better. The three of them are dark and crazy AF but they hide it well. Each of them are little oddballs, outside society's norm, I like that they don't fit the mold it makes them more interesting. There are a lot of little details that separate them from the crowd. Cass is a chameleon, Lucy has a superpower-level sense of smell, and Liam hides in plane site with charm. They fit together.
The plot is elaborate, between Lucy's past, Liam's family, complicated relationships, and murder, there are a lot of things going on. The story easily kept my interest including surprising me by getting darker as the story progressed. It was unexpected but welcome. These were complex characters and while I was looking forward to the mystery part of the story, I enjoyed the deep character development. Be that as it may, I'm hoping we get more of the mystery in the second part because I really want to know who killed Liam's brother among other things.
What kind of ending was that? Emma went for confusing and dramatic. It was one heck of a cliffhanger that certainly got my adrenaline pumping. I can't wait for this trio to get their act together and for the killer to be revealed in Curvy Nerd Omega.
The book title, I found, to be misleading. Dirty omega? Try psycho omega. The book started out interesting then went down a weird path. The FMC was super intriguing in the first third of the book. I will not be reading any more of this series. I pushed through the last third of the book, but I ended up skipping over a lot of the heat scenes...too psycho for me. Yes, there was a warning prior but I shrugged it off because the title made it seem softer than what it was. Blood play, psychotic people...be warned.
So this a duet. And most of the warnings at the start don’t happen in here, so I have to assume it’s in book two. Honestly, there’s not a lot of crime solving going on. It starts out that way, then settles entirely on developing the Omegaverse side of things. I liked the style it was written in, and the MC and her neurodivergent quirks appealed to me, but then at some point it’s decided she’s a psychopath and it got weird.
This story is dark, bloody, and AMAZING. Foreshadowing wasn’t subtle, but I wasn’t mad at it. In fact, as soon as we had Liam’s perspective, it was told to us straight out. I liked that he knew right away and it wasn’t both of the stumbling around with lots of hinting by the author. I liked all the little details of the slight touches or body positioning. I also liked how descriptive and gruesome some of it was. The imagery and prose was *chefs kiss*. I loved Liam’s possessiveness. He was very clear, she is his and he’s never letting her go again. I absolutely loved the ride this book took me on and was not ready for it to be over. I cannot wait for the next book of this series. If you like your characters dark and damaged, enjoy dark mysteries, dark omegaverse stories, you’ll love this book. I know I did.
I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

Dirty Curvy Omega Emma Dean Stars:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️ Time to read: 4 hours Cliffhanger **My review may contain spoilers!!!!! **Read Trigger Warnings!!!!
This is a murder mystery romance. I fell in love with the characters and I cannot wait for the next book in the series! That cliffhanger though….. holy cow! I have so many theories running through my head!
This book made me witness the progressive descent of the characters into their lowest, most wretched desires. That physical hunger they feel for each others, the need to literally consume the other. I LOVED it. I wish it was a tiny bit less contained still. They still felt like beasts acting civil. I guess the problem they’ll have to sort out in the next volume is how far can they really go without dying or pulling out. Although, it’s been made clear pulling out would destroy them more than one of them dying. They’d like that.
One negative thing though, is that sometimes, the characters felt a bit too dissipated/confusing. Their dialogues and inner monologues jumped a bit too much in all directions without any leads. It felt a bit like standing on crumbling stand and losing my footing. ALSO!! No offense but that title doesn’t really suit the story lmao 😭😭
Ok this book was pretty good. The twists and turns and the writing was awesome and I do want to read the next boon asap.
My downgrade to 3 stars was because the mfc, although awesome, disnt make much sense. She thinks she's damaged, she finds she's not, just different, yet pushes away the people that fit her? I get the trauma, but she keeps saying her father ruined her, yet she still goes along with all the lessons he taught her? She complains about how everything about her was his fault, yet when good things happen, instead of listening to her omega sense, she does what her father said. Why? How does that make sense?
I started reading this thinking the concept was interesting, and it is. But the pacing is so slow. The amount of internalized conversations out weighs the actual conversations between characters. The constant references to past events without explanations had me nearly throwing my phone across the room. Also, the never-ending reference "She's not like other girls." made me want to reach throw the screen and pimp-slap every character. Will I finish the duet? Yes, because my OCD likes to make me torture myself.
This author loves to beat a dead horse. Hee characters think the same stuff over and over. Not enough story being told. I'm sick of sooo much description and angst. I skip full chapters because of this. Plot is great but is slow, snail paced.
When I tell you I hated this book when I started only to immediately pirouette into a perfect 180 when the red flag POV’s started up- I’m not joking. 💄💋🚩✨
I was literally so quickly unhappy with our FL. She just stares off into space for three chapters daydreaming about the rain. And then, and then, and then! She does the worst possible, Wattpad core memory, cringe inducing, meet-cute move ever, and she *Trips!* (✨💗🥹 UWU ✨) into our first ML. *smacks forehead with a clap the strength of a thousand fed up fathers* (😑💢🔥👹) ONLY TO DO IT AGAIN WITH THE NEXT ML!!!!!!!!!! 👺👺👺
It’s not just this either. Her character design literally sounds like the love child between the two TV shows: Dexter and the tech-y, lab-y, goth girl from NCIS. 😮💨🫡 I honestly failed to see where she was truly “curvy” too. So there are some issues to keep in mind. However, however, however.
When we get our first ML POV and all of those naggy, picky, nitpicky things I was starting to literally highlight on my Kindle notes about this FL?
🎉☁️*POOF!*☁️🎉
My Issue Be Gone! 🪽🕊️🪽
And the more I read, not even just loving all the ML’s POV’s, but the more I just read in general and VIBBED? This was SO good. Like, AAA! I can’t! I’m honestly so glad to have not called it quits. I ended up LOVING this. Two ML’s who are completely unhinged and obsessed with our FL? Um, yass and ✅✅✅. A FL that’s actually a little bit more than off her rocker it turns out? A fantastic best friend and perfect platonic girl friend I ache for and hope gets her own story? Now add all of that to all of these characters feelings of insecurity, i-would-die-for-you, unhinged madness, trauma and tragedy?
This author had me over here swooning, empathizing, sympathizing and feeling like I should be breathalyzed. 💀❤️🔥
Overall, I loved the guys. I loved how crazy they were for each other, I even loved the FL’s baggage. I seriously enjoyed reading about the FL slowly coming to realize she could sick her two guys on each other and they’d happily tear the other to pieces for her. I was gaga over the power they each had over each other but our FL most especially. She was powerful and she had two delightful and sinfully gorgeous villains wrapped around her pinky finger. I was over the moon here people. This is hitting a lot of spots for me. 🌈💃🏻🌈
I still remember those moments I didn’t like her much at the start and there are definitely some plot points that are brought up only to completely not matter at all (like her forced fake relationship and her career at being a detective) but after getting the full scope of the dynamic thanks to the other POV’s? I calmed down and really enjoyed this. I personally recommend if you like dark reads crammed full with obsession and even some delightful unexpected angst. 🖤🖤🖤 really excellent find. (And hopefully book two picks up all the crumbs book 1 left like more active detecting or making the fake relationship more than a stupid fishing hook to try to lure the FL at first to the ML’s. 💀)
2.5 stars because I finished it but I’m not sure I had a good time.
I’ve got complaints, but I can acknowledge that they’re from a buildup of annoyance for about a thousand other books, and are therefore not this book’s fault. I’m gonna express myself anyway.
Things I’m sick to death of:
- FMCs embarrassing themselves when they meet the MMC. Usually by staring too long.
- FMCs accidentally saying things out loud.
- Constant obsessing about the same body parts. To be fair, I don’t create images in my head, so this is possibly a subjective annoyance.
- FMCs having a fixation about food, specifically not eating enough
- In this particular case, the words “legacy alpha”
- Stupid secrets that cause unnecessary drama, although I complain about this one all the time. There’s no rational reason for the MMC to not reveal that he’s her long lost love. For fucks sake. It makes all her angst just tedious. That means I’m bored and annoyed.
Sub complaint from the previous: how is this genius detective FMC too dense to even suspect that this is the guy she’s been looking for?
This FMC was also irrationally moody with her BFF, taking mortal offense to everything. She was really hard to like.
On a more subjective note, I avoid most OV books because there is just so. Much. Sex. Who has time for 10 chapters in a row? I should not be able to finish multiple chores while listening to the same scene. It just beats to death a perfectly good horse. These books are popular though, therefore it must work for someone so I’m not gonna hate it. This book really only had one scene at least, even if it went on and on and on.
There were some fairly stupid epiphanies happening. For example, MMC2 is shocked and offended because the FMC knows to open her mouth due to “training” during sex? I mean all the context clues were pointing to oral.. what else was she gonna do??
It does at least have a mildly interesting plot. It would’ve been a lovely standalone. All they’d have to do is cut out half of the “legacy alpha” nonsense and the excessive inner monologuing and they’d have a perfectly sized book.
Safety specifics:
No OW drama. These two MMCs are the obsessive stalker “I’ll kill anyone including my BFF if you ask me to” types. It’s mostly MFM, though the two have had sex with one another a couple of times in the past. They’re very fixated on the FMC at present though.
Whooooo… that was a ride! Detailed and intricate characters, interesting world descriptions, do not get me started on the PLOT! I wasn’t going to read this, honestly the cover threw me off and the description wasn’t something I felt I would be interested with b, but WOW WAS I MISTAKEN!! I adore Lucy, I love that she comes across as a bit neurodivergent, but everyone just calls her a genius, which she may be but her drive to solve mysteries and answer her own never ending “whys” makes me lean a different direction. And I’m here for it!! Top it off with her training and general badassery she’s my book girlfriend! 😍 And just when I thought I was getting close to a plot close NOPE!! I was left at the top of the roller coaster hill… just chilling. I usually roll my eyes at the usual OV plots, five minutes in the FMC is kneed deep in a surprise heat. However this story actually build the characters and their relationships and her surprise heat actually had a great reason to be a surprise. So no eye rolling for this book! I’m sad that the last almost half of the book didn’t have Frankie, I’m interested to see what her thoughts are about the relationship eternally Lucy and her alphas. And come on, not only are they hot, successful and powerful BUT ALSO a bit psychotic!?!? All my fav red flags in a partner! I’m telling you, you may be an OV connoisseur like me but I will bet my house you have never read a storyline like this one! Go ahead and get it, you know you want to see what all the fuss is about! Happy Reading My Friends!
So far this is OK but desperately needed a line editor who wasn't trying to pad the book for KDP. The repetition is grating, and the emotional beats of the book are all over the place. A lot of other reviewers have said they enjoyed the start of the book and then it started getting repetitive.... I'm only about 60 pages in and if it gets MORE repetitive I'm not going to make it to the end.
More frustrating to me, however is the awful 'not like other omegas' vibe the main character is pushing. She keeps bemoaning the fact that the alphas keep looking at her.. in the professional interview she's attending... while she's dressed like a 15 year old... and she and her co worker are implying the alphas are murderers. But obviously they're only looking at her because she's an omega 🙄
I think the author wanted her MC to come across as some kind of Sherlock but she really didn't. Most of her observations were either really obvious ones, or fantastic leaps that made no logical sense but were magically correct. Which... about describes the plot. Lou is semi famous as a detective, with a fan club, but the MMC suddenly dating her right after his brother was murdered will somehow conceal that she's working on the murder? What?
Ok I made it to about 90 pages and gave up. It's not horribly riddled with typos or anything and I know part of my objections are personal taste so I'll leave it at 2.5 stars rounded up.
Really insanely good book. I'm normally a light and fluffy reader who occasionally enjoys a good morally grey, but never dark. This was kinda my limit but I really enjoyed it. I saw a post in another author's group promoting it and it really hooked me, so I thought I'd give it a try. So good. Didn't realize it was a duet until about 70% of the way through, which is when the spice hits btw.
I have no idea who the murderer is. Like, honestly none and normally I would have some serious guesses. I also really love where it ended.
I feel so broken hearted over how Lucy and Frankie's relationship went from extremely codependent to gone on the blink of an eye, but that's real life sometimes unfortunately. I'm so happy she's getting her own duet.
I loved that Liam was her childhood love and how they were both searching for each other but for different but actual valid reasons, couldn't find each other. I also liked how seamlessly Cas blended in. With childhood loves, it could really be difficult to add a third, but I like how they are going about it all.
The only issue I had was how repetitive some thing's were. I swear, whole paragraphs were repeated numerous times throughout the book, but it still kinda worked.
Can't wait for April with the second part of the duet comes out.
This is one of the better books I've read this year. The 2nd book in "Lucy's" story will complete her part of the "You think you're slick?" series. Book 3 will begin a new segment.
One of the things I really liked about this book is that the author did not equate "curvy" with having to show the fmc's bad eating habits. As a plus-sized woman, I appreciate the restraint.
The story itself is exciting, illicit and has violent undertones with generous doses of sex on the side. This story is unlike most omegaverse stories; the omega here doesn't want to be an omega! This is refreshing in a field of omegas hunting for an alpha to complete them.
The sex is very graphic and there are trigger warnings that you should review first. The relationship between the 2 mmc's indicates that they are involved with each other, but I don't think there was any MM contact. A lot is implied.
This dark omegaverse romance is for readers okay with RH and MMF. If so, open the book and start to enjoy it. I did!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story had me all sorts of knotted up. I love some good gore tossed in every now and then. This book delivered it spot on.
Lucy is an Omega detective with ascent that many mistaken for a Beta's because of how weak it is, making it easy for this fisty chick to get down and dirty into the mysteries as everyone seemed to underestimate her capabilities. Being the daughter of an Alpha Serial Killer gave her a different view compared to most of her designation, and this girl could handle herself. Or at least she did until things got tangled up with the Legacy Alpha Liam and his other half Cassius. These two knew where and how to ruffle her feathers, and she didn't like it one bit.
The hardest part of the book was honestly some points where it just kept repeating similar statements that were just mentioned, such as her doubt of their interest and not two pages later she goes right back to it.
The best parts were how overly strong all three of these leads felt for eachother, hitting the OTT J/P obsessive interest. The extent just kept growing and I really look forward to seeing where this will go in the next book.
Wow, so glad I picked up this book. I'm more of a light and fluffy insta-love/lust type of gal even when it comes to my ABO universe reads but this one intrigued me and I devoured it in less than a day.
The pacing throughout the book is excellent and the character depth is just enough to give you a clearer insight into this trio's minds and not too much to bog down the story with unnecessary crap. Tbh, I kind of forgot that there was a murder to solve with everything else that was going on. Lucy is one dark, emotionally damaged omega but I think Cas and Liam just might be the best (or only?) kind of dark, deliciously unhinged psychos that can handle her. Can't wait to see how this all plays out in the next book!
WARNING: Cliffhanger ending! This one is pretty high on my trauma scale 5/5, so consider yourself warned!
When one of the Valor clan hires Lucy and her partner Frankie to investigate the murder of their heir, she isn’t sure what she is in for dealing with Legacy alphas, but that is exactly who Lucy finds herself working with. Liam and his assistant Cassius are both strong alphas, and Lucy will have to fight her own instincts…
This is a darker romance, set in the Omegaverse, which means that it gets rather steamy at times. Unusually in the omegaverse, Lucy isn’t small, not is she very susceptible to Alpha pheromones, which makes for an interesting read. That being said, the Legacy alphas are different too, and it’s fun to watch these incredibly strong males and their equally strong omega try and figure each other out.
Lucy has a pretty dark history, so it’s worth checking the content warnings if you’re a more sensitive reader, but fans of darker romance will enjoy the edginess of this one. An entertaining and edgy read for omegaverse and dark romance fans
Medium quick read. I loved how much detail was put into this. As a someone who watched criminal minds i loved the precise the fmc is with each person and their body language. Its was cool to see that just because she’s an omega she can be hella smart and badass. I love the psycho dynamic in this rh relationship. Thought i think i want more from cassius, more of him emotionally. He shows it but stoically. The first Mmc is already a + bc of past history. As I’m reading I get why the father did what he did. I like these types of books where the characters do a psychological analysis of themselves or the partners. The flow/plot line of the story was great and interesting. Easy to follow.
Spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️ pretty good. ( Btw Dark romance reader) Spoilers——- the knife play was interestingly disturbing. It’s like you can’t look away 🫣 vibes. I wanted to look away bc it’s not my thing but chocking or biting of the lips 👍🏻😳. Not bad.
I had seriously thought this was a standalone but as I was reading towards the end it became a series 😩😩 why. I have to wait now for the next book.
I don’t know 🤔 Plot and characters were a little more interesting than usual, which kept me reading. Nothing was straightforward. I think the title is a little misleading though. Curvy omega lends towards a rounded omega yes? She was tall, delicate (but not fragile apparently). The curvy part was her DDs 🤦🏽♀️
I struggled to connect with their mentality. The three main characters were…well insane. She has problems 🫣🥩 Her heat with all the 🩸 and hurt just didn’t work for me. I didn’t get it. I didn’t want it. I’m glad the character liked it but I never would.
I love seeing obsessed men though, and I love that they lay it all at her feet, everything she could ever want, and it’s even better when they are overpowered. She, of course, doesn’t believe it 🙄. Kinda frustrating tbh. Also it ticks me off that the only thing holding her back from complete happiness is her own self. She’s making up reasons that are very weak.
Shoot, why do I still want to read the next one? They ended it on a really great spot 😩

Absolutely obsessed with this book! Curvy Dirty Omega hooked me right from the start. The dynamic between the main characters is top-notch—unhinged, possessive, and totally addictive.
The FMC is a private investigator (and an omega) hired to uncover the truth about an alpha’s murder. She works with her platonic alpha partner, but the real sparks fly with the brother of the deceased alpha and his assistant. Their relationship is dark, twisted, and layered with history that slowly unravels as the story progresses. The way they’re all equally a little psychotic? Perfection.
What I loved most is that the FMC strikes the perfect balance;she’s not a pushover, but she’s also not written as an overdone “too tough to be an omega” stereotype. She’s strong, believable, and really easy to root for.
The mix of mystery, tension, and wild relationship dynamics just worked for me in every way. If you like your romances messy, obsessive, and full of chemistry, this is it. I can’t wait to continue the series!
Lucy isn't a typical Omega. She has always been called defective and given that her Omega father was a serial killer, she has always feared she may be like him.
Liam is a Legacy Alpha, the ultimate Alpha, but Lucy can handle him where no other Omega can. He has a secret he hasn't shared with Lucy; hopefully, she will be okay with it when he does. Cassius is an employee and friend of Liam's, he isn't a Legacy Alpha but he also isn't a regular one either.
All three of them are unhinged and we start delving into that when this book ends. Emma Dean leaves you on pins and needles since we have to wait for the next book to see where this is all going. Thankfully we don't have long to wait! I will be eagerly waiting to read it!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
★ “I was an omega out in the big bad world trying to solve a murder.” ★
The last few OmegaVerse stories I have chosen to read and review have hit it out of the ballpark, offering storylines which are original and very engaging to read. This one has not one but two delicious Alphas, but the dynamics between the three are highly unique. The book’s description is a good indicator of what the reader will be delving into, so no need to elaborate on it further, without giving away the good details. All I know is, I loved this story, and I am on the edge of my seat to find out what happens in Books #2(Curvy Nerdy Omega) and #3 (Foxy Frisky Omega). Luckily for me, I don’t mind cliffhangers, and I cannot wait to see where this series will take me next!
DNF @87%. She started thinking about all the ways this relationship couldn’t work and how she needed to make them want to leave her. And that’s not my vibe. I’m not a fan of the “fake dating until they fall in love” or the cyclical manipulation like that
We don’t see any of the lessons her dad apparently taught her so it’s difficult to connect with her, though I really enjoyed her in the beginning.
And this last part is 100% on me - it takes a very rare story to hold my interest for more than 1 book, so that already was working against the story. The amount of story progress by 87% of book 1/3 just felt minuscule to me, and it was almost a whole book. So I think I don’t have the stamina for series… But that’s a ME thing
Omg omg omg,the way this book surprised me soo muchh I loved it 10/10 would recommend First time reading from this author and the writing style was on point the only thing that annoyed me alittle bit it had so much description if the same exact thing with the words I loveedd how unhinged liam , i really love my delicate omegas and i find when people try to make the female character different and such they over do it and it becomes cringy for me but not in this case at all Lucy was perfect loved her character also loved her relationship with frankie And really the ending surprised me I didn’t expect that so iam very very excited for the next book and really can’t wait
