I’ve read the original book and found it very helpful - particularly to the years of raising young children. This workbook was organized as a 5 week study but it had resources to adapt it to a weekend conference as well. We organized a small group of parents (who mostly didn’t know each other to go through this series) and provided food and childcare. After each video, the workbook provided a series of questions that we found helpful in starting the conversation. However, we usually didn’t stick to the questions as conversations seemed to unfold organically. We appreciated that each workbook came with video access so that families could still watch the videos if they needed to be absent for some reason. Highly recommend - especially for young families seeking to understand and establish spiritual rhythms in their homes.
**I really enjoyed this audiobook. I've been feeling convicted about putting more emphasis on our faith and instilling it in our children. I got so many nuggets of things I want to try out of this book. Recommend for anyone looking to become a more Christ-centric home with kids (definitely geared towards under age 10)
👍🏻: Helped dig deeper & set goals for specific areas in your household to grow your family closer together & closer to Jesus. 👎🏻: Would recommend the book over the study. Felt the study was geared more towards families out of the baby/young toddler days.
The foundational principles and lens through which this book discussed parenting were very helpful to me. The details with which the writer fleshed out his principles were not always as helpful, but it is certainly a book worth digesting.
“Proverbs says that ‘where there is no vision, the people perish.’ Put another way, to keep our hearts alive, we need to see the future. We need to be in awe of the not yet. Because when we can see only the present, something inside of us starts to wither.”
This is a great book for families. I got a little bit out of it since I’m single and don’t have any kids but I can use some of the tips in my everyday life.
