Skymar #3

Loyally, Luke

Rate this book
Sometimes love means embracing the good, the bad . . . and even the impossible.

Dear Reader,

My name is Luke Edgewood, and there are few things in life that I require. Mainly black coffee. And flannel. And lots of solitude. And my dogs, Chewy and Indie. What I don’t need is romance, so I have no plans to change my thirty-year-old bachelor status anytime soon.

But my youngest sister thinks that by accepting a short-term construction job in the small European country of Skymar, I’m going to follow along in her footsteps and discover my own romantic adventure. Nope. Bah humbug. The End. This time, her rom-com-movie senses are totally wrong.

Or maybe not. Because I’ve met a Grace Kelly look-alike who is annoying . . . until she isn’t. But she is impossible. As in, nothing can happen between us because she is a literal princess. Even though that’s easy to forget when we’re working together to restore a castle-like orphanage in a secluded mountain town and “forced proximity” includes a small closet, a secret one-hundred-year-old journal, and the tactile memory of an off-limits royal in my arms.

Basically, the whole situation has turned into an ooey gooey magical snow globe of romantic tropes complete with cute kids and an actual ball. Now, even my sentences are starting to sound like mush. Ugh. Send high levels of testosterone my way—I’m going to need it.

Loyally,

Luke

Writing this book was a 'dance' between wanting to see how Luke handled romance and not wanting the story of these siblings to end. I have LOVED writing this series and creating the family dynamics that feel so real to me. Luke is some of the very best characteristics of my dad, my brother, my male cousins, and my sons. Bringing his story to life has been a bittersweet joy!

I adored finding the 'right' woman for his gruff-exterior-cinnamon-roll-interior personality.

No, his isn't as epistolary as the previous two, but if I expected Luke to text/email then the book would have been 2 chapters long ;)

Stepping out into my first epistolary-style story was not easy, but I "couldn't" write these books any other way. It's just the way they HAD to be told (IYKYK). But, for me, the intimacy of those emails and texts brought me into the Edgewood world in a totally different way than some of my other stories. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. I love them!

What are things that I'm particularly proud of in this series?
1. Creating the cousin/sibling relationships
2. Creating a positive heroine with depth who doesn't lose her somewhat-silly brightness and joy
3. Celebrating nerdy bookishness
4. Creating such a wonderful world as Skymar
5. Creating heroes who are varied, but, also, just celebrating the 'good guys'. I appreciate broody heroes or playboys with tender hearts, but I also love just watching an all-around good guy become an even better guy by being loved well and loving well. Sigh.

Thank you all SO much for coming along on this journey with me! Your joy and excitement with this series has been the BEST!
Let's go on another adventure.

Pepper

P.S. My October 2024 novella, The Mistletoe Prince, features Luke Edgewood as a side-character.
P.P.S. I'd love to know how Josephine and Patrick met and fell in love.

First dnf of this year. I have a rule for dnf'ing books. I will see whether the story is going to improve up until 50-60%, and if it's still not hooking me into the story, I simply dnf it. This really had so much potential imo, but so many narrators in the audiobook kind of put me off from enjoying the story. Maybe in the future, I will read the book instead.

Loyally, Luke was such a lovable book! It had a bit of a slow start for me, but once it picked up, I ended up enjoying it lots. I loved the royalty/commoner trope and the hero was dreamy and sweet. I definitely want to check out the two before this about Luke’s cousin and sister. Their text threads cracked me up. My first Pepper Basham book, and I’m looking forward to reading more!

Y'all, I have loved Pepper's series set on Skymar and I've been begging for Luke's book. Harassing. Needling. Begging shamelessly since August. I got my hands on a copy and inhaled it. I laughed outloud. Multiple times. I may have cried. Seriously! I grinned like a fool. I loved it. Go preorder it now. I enjoyed the prior two books in the series... a lot. But I adored this one. Luke is the perfect hero. Perfect. He may be my first book crush since Gilbert Blythe.

I just listened to the audiobook. So good! Luke’s voice actor is perfect!!

I liked Luke and Grace Kelly. Their relationship and banter were great.

The rest of the book was ok, but I skimmed most of the texts and descriptions to get to Luke and Grace.

Only kissing, no language, would recommend.
You don’t have to read this series in order to enjoy it.

I have enjoyed this fun series and Loyally, Luke was a great addition to it. Luke is such a likable, good guy, not to mention swoon-worthy flannel loving carpenter. He is in Skymar to do some remodel work. As the only boy in a family of three sisters, two biological and one a cousin raised by his parents, Luke knows more about girl movies than a fellow should. To compensate, he watches plenty of action flicks, like Rambo, Mission Impossible, and others. This is a lighthearted and humorous story with laugh out loud moments and with many sweet and romantic ones as Luke works on an orphanage with and develops a friendship with Ellie, a real princess. There is an attraction but how can a country boy from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina have more with a real princess? Sweet romance with a foundation of faith. I recommend for those who love romance in an impossible situation.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.

Luke Edgewood – the ultimate laid-back dude who's all about black coffee, flannel shirts, and chilling with his pups Chewy and Indie. Romance? Nah, not his thing. But when his sis ropes him into a gig in Skymar, she's convinced he's gonna find his happily ever after. But then he meets this total Grace Kelly look-alike who's equal parts annoying and intriguing. Oh, and did I mention she's a legit princess? Despite the royal roadblocks, sparks start flying as they team up to fix up an orphanage, and suddenly Luke's questioning everything he thought he knew about love.

Ellie and Luke totally rocked as the main characters in this book! They brought so much fun and excitement to the story. Luke's sarcasm? Seriously hilarious! And his connections with all the awesome women in his life – his sisters, cousin, and especially Ellie – are just the best.
And, Ellie? She's a total sweetheart. A princess on a mission to fix her reputation, she goes on this epic journey of self-discovery. And Luke's there every step of the way, cheering her on and helping her figure out who she really is. They're like the ultimate duo, and I couldn't get enough of them!

I gotta say, the sibling dynamic in this book is top-notch. The love and support between Luke and his sisters are just heart-melting. And those group chat conversations? Hilarious! However it might feel like the story jumps around a bit with all the text message exchanges, but it still kept me entertained.

What I loved most about this book is how real it felt. It doesn't try to be anything it's not – just a light-hearted romp filled with faith, hope, and a whole lot of laughs. It's like a cozy movie night with your besties, complete with popcorn and all the warm fuzzies.

This book is like a breath of fresh air – a sweet and heartwarming romance that'll definitely hit the spot for fans of Hallmark movies.

Pepper D. Basham's small town romance Loyally Luke centers on the relationship between Luke Edgewood, a construction worker, and Duchess of Mara Elliana St. Clare.

I was intrigued by this book after reading the synopsis, but after three chapters, I thought the characters were uninteresting.

The fact that much of the book—at least the portion I read—was devoted to texting was the first thing that threw me off. For example, each chapter would open with a scene of characters texting one another.

The fact that it was never made apparent whose point of view it was in threw me off further. Because of the texting, I would initially assume the chapter was written from Luke's point of view, but it would eventually reveal Elliana's inner monologue.

To be honest, the book is badly written, and I regret not dnf’ing way sooner, but I wanted to give it a shot.

*Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and to the author, Pepper D. Basham, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

Book Review: Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham - 4.5 Stars

BLOG POST:
https://bookloveramanda.blogspot.com/...

Pepper does it again with Loyally, Luke in book 3 of the Skymar Series! Izzy and Penelope have been some of my favorite books, just overall great comfort reads. Loyally, Luke does not disappoint as we are following Luke Edgewood's love story with a secret Skymar Princess! If you are looking for a book that just makes you overall HAPPY, pick this up! You can read this as a standalone, but I personally believe you get the BEST Skymar experience by picking up book 1 & 2 first. We follow Luke throughout the entire series so we've gotten to know him and really enjoy his character. So many of us have been looking forward to his romance story and I am so glad Pepper wrote this story!

This story follows Luke and Ellie. Luke is in Skymar to help with some construction work and has a "meet-cute" with Ellie, the Skymar Princess! He is trying to avoid all "hallmark cheese" romance tropes but he ends up with quite the romantic ADVENTURE! I loved all the references to romance tropes in this one, those things made me laugh SO much! And to see the siblings jumping in all about the tropes too, was even better! (Like the whole "meet-cute" discussion LOL) As many others have said, Ellie is really a prodigal princess, her past mistakes follow her and she's trying to discover who she really is. I loved seeing Luke help her along the way with this and the ending was CHEF'S KISS for me with what Luke did!

Luke really reminds me of my own Dad and brother. He's a grumpy southern handyman with a lot of sarcasm and laughs, but he also cares about the people he loves and is one to work hard and take care of those around him. He loves kids, which we get to see in this story too! I would have liked a little more of those details of Luke with the children and details with the orphans, but overall I loved seeing those moments.

I think my favorite thing of this entire series is the sibling relationship. I have a very close relationship with my brother and so much of this is reminiscent of our own sibling relationship! You find yourself just laughing and enjoying the entire dynamic. Also, as a southern belle myself (who loves Scotland), ya'll already know I love the Southern and Skymar settings and characters!

A note of importance, when you compare this to Izzy and Penelope, this is more narrative than full epistolary style. I love both ways of storytelling personally, but wanted to notate that for those interested. We still get bits of text and email threads though throughout the story, which I loved seeing!

There was a nice light faith element in this book too that I really enjoyed seeing added. So glad Pepper wrote this series!

P.S. Readers will love this series for the heartwarming, humorous, sweet rom-com that it is! The PERFECT comfort read.

P.P.S. Also, the audiobook of this was AMAZING with the cast of narrators! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a complimentary audiobook to listen to. That really enhanced the reading experience for me! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loyally, Luke was the first book that I had the pleasure of reading by Pepper Basham. When I first learned that I had been approved to listen to the audiobook of Loyally, Luke, I was not aware that it was the last book in the Skymar series. I did not feel that I was at a disadvantage, though. Loyally, Luke can definitely be read as a stand-alone book. It was the kind of book that put a big smile on my face and made me laugh out loud at times. I loved the characters and was so glad that it ended with a happily ever after ending for Luke. I listened to the audiobook of Loyally, Luke that was very well narrated by a full compliment of narrators.

Luke Edgewood was an all around good guy. The two things that Luke would have had a hard time living without were his flannel shirts and his cups of coffee. It was no surprise then, that Luke found himself in the coffee shop after he arrived at Skymar Island. The thing Luke never expected though was to lay his eyes on a woman who looked like the spitting image of Grace Kelly only with blonde hair. The other thing Luke didn’t expect was for his coffee cup to collide with “Grace Kelly’s”. What a disaster! Oh well, Luke realized that he would never see her again. No harm done! He apologized and proceeded to meet the driver that would take him to the construction jobs that he was to bid on. There was a renovation of an orphanage and a cabin that Luke hoped to lend a hand in restoring. It was not surprising that Luke was hired for both the orphanage project and the cabin renovation. What was surprising was that the first day on the job at the orphanage, Luke was introduced to the interior designer for the orphanage. She was no other than the “Grace Kelly” look alike from the coffee shop. There she was right before Luke’s eyes! I just knew that romance was sure to come but there were other surprises that I wasn’t expecting.

Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham was a feel good book. I adored the characters and was more than satisfied with the ending. Even though I had not read the previous two books in this delightful series, I feel that I got a good sense of who Penelope and Izzy were and the relationship they had with Luke. At some point. I hope to go back and read the first two books in this series. I certainly will be watching for more books by Pepper Basham in the future. If you enjoy reading romance books then I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to HarperCollins Christian Publishing/Thomas Nelson Fiction for allowing me to listen to the audiobook of Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, Pepper delivers an enchanting tale of heartfelt moments, hope, laughter, and the sweetest romance!

I turned positively giddy when I received my approval email from Netgalley and could NOT wait to dive in! As one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2024, falling in love with Luke & Ellie was the best way to start off my reading for the year! I read it in a day and could NOT put it down!

Starting out, I’ve said this ever since Authentically Izzy (book 1)—Luke Edgewood is a gem. A prince among men. The embodiment of a good, godly man. He’s a quiet & steady hero, my favourite kind. And the way he handles the kids—mentoring the boys & listening to emotionally overwrought little girls? So precious. ☺️ And I’ll never get over the way he interacts with his sisters. Sure he teases their lives out, but his genuine care & thoughtfulness, the way they’re able to share the hard stuff with him and how he’s a listening ear is admirable. Perfect he is not, but he’s one of the good ones. Oh yeah, and he’s practically allergic to the word “romance” and the other h-word (Hallmark, haha). 😂 So of course, he can do nothing less than fall in love with a princess.

Ellie was a dear. She’s the prodigal princess trying to repair her tattered reputation. And along the way, she rediscovers who she really is, thanks to Luke’s encouragement, as she embraces her God-given identities & leaning into His truth, instead of listening to the tabloids narrative. She’s a quiet sort of strong, and I love her for it. Her journey & development are beautiful to behold.

As a couple, Luke & Ellie are hilarious. Their meet cute? I was dying. Absolutely dying & wheezing with laughter. Their “trope list” made things all the more humorous without feeling cliché. But despite their two different worlds, their getting off on the wrong foot, the forced proximity, and Ellie’s hidden identity, they balance each so well. I swooned, which almost never happens, and was reduced to a puddle of emotions over their dynamics. 😭🤭

A few highlights worth mentioning (… basically the whole book, haha!):
✨ the Hallmark chimes 🔔
✨ adorable orphan children
✨ small village charm & tight knit community spirit
✨ the fishing pole
✨ “‘I’m just a girl. Standing in front of a boy. Asking him to—‘“ “Don’t you dare say it.” 😂

Compared to Izzy & Penelope’s stories, most of the book is told narrative-style and interspersed with text threads & emails. While I miss the epistolary style, let’s face it, Luke writes two sentences tops. So this was much more his style. 😂

With this being the last book of the series, the bittersweetness hit me in spades as I read the final “The End” and the curtain fell on the Edgewood Trio for the last time. But it was so much to see these darling characters get their happily ever afters—the cameo appearances of Penelope & Izzy & their fellows were so perfectly lovely!

This truly is one of my favourite contemporary series & one I both highly recommend and look forward to returning to again and again!! 💛

*Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

5 Million stars!!!!!!!!! Oh it was such a treat!

A perfect ending to a delightful series, Loyally Luke is funny, romantic, unpredictable, and inspiring— the best kind of romantic comedy there is! Pepper Basham gives the perfect voice to Luke’s character in this story, capturing and expounding upon his lovable grump persona from the first two books and transforming him into the swooniest of heroes in his own love story! Seasoned with delightful humor and pop culture references, this part-epistolary novel thoroughly entertains readers. I laughed out loud so much when reading this one! And the ROMANCE! There was heat without scorch as Luke and Ellie fell in love, and once Luke gets kissing on the mind it’s hard to stop! Plus, a romance from the man’s point of view? YES PLEASE! Ellie’s character had such depth and emotion, and her story and faith touched my heart. I loved Luke’s strong faith and love for his family, and he was an excellent Godly main character to fall for in this book! This story’s ending in the perfect happily ever after for both hero and heroine, but no spoilers on what that ending is… you just have to read it! And trust me, you do not want to miss it!

I received a copy of this book for review and promotion purposes, but my thoughts are my own. I adored it!

LUKEEEEE!!!!
Omgeeeee ya'll I love him so much! Pepper did him justice in his story and this is definitely my favorite of the 3 only because he is my favorite character. Izzy's book had the great bookish relatability, Penelope's book was my favorite romance, but Luke's book was all him that sold me.
This book also had a different tone than the other two. He is the more serious character and so that definitely showed with the amount of depth this had for me and I felt like there was more faith in this one too. Royalty romances are hit and miss with me and the romance was sweet but it was all the other things about Luke and who he is that got me in this story.
Well Done Pepper!

I feel a little conflicted about this book. I mean, I liked Luke in the previous stories and I liked the parts with him. I also really liked Ellie and how she worked hard to change herself and choose a new path in life after some big mistakes.
But Luke and Ellie... Honestly, I didn't really love...them.
Oh, there were sections I adored, but mostly it was just them obsessively thinking about kissing each other or trying not to think about kissing each other. This was so sad because when they weren't just acting like two hormone-driven teens, they were epic together. They worked well and complemented each other wonderfully. But kissing and hints at other stuff took up most of the page.
I don't mind kissing or thinking about kissing in my fiction, but I want the romance to have depth and solidness before and beyond the kissing. This one came so close and yet fell so short.
This book was worth reading if nothing else to continue the conversations between the siblings. I could read a lot more books about these siblings.
Why do series have to end at the wedding?

Content notes: A lot of talk about kissing as well as some extended kissing scenes. Some mentions of some inappropriate situations and photos in Ellie's past (shown as something she has repented of and left behind). A couple of vague hints of wanting to do more than kissing, a couple of which felt like honest struggles and a couple that felt pointlessly awkward.

Loyally Luke was such a cute and lighthearted story that felt like a Hallmark movie in a book.

I absolutely adored Luke’s character and all his witty banter with Eliana. Plus, watching them both grow and change as they began to fall for each other just had me swooning through the whole book.

It was also so refreshing to have a story without miscommunication and mature adults!

Am I allowed to love the third book in a series the most?!

I loved everything bookish and epistolary about "Authentically, Izzy." I positively adore the pure delight that is "Positively, Penelope."

But "Loyally, Luke"? His wry sense of humor, his careful craftsmanship, and his endless patience with his sisters make him a humble hero in every sense of the word. He aims for that delicate balance between fixer and friend. And he's loyal to home and family.

Pepper Basham writes books with characters who feel like friends—and in this case, they feel like family, because Luke reminds me of the best men in my life (my husband, daddy, brothers, and guy cousins).

This book is definitely the best one in the trilogy, and that’s saying something because the other two were spectacular!
It follows Luke, and he was always one of the characters that I found to be the most comforting and awesome. I laughed, cried, and this book made me feel things that I hadn’t felt in a while. Definitely the read I needed.
And the faith that was in the books was really good when it was talked about. It still wasn’t a lot, but more than the other two books, and I liked how Luke always made it a priority in his life! Good role model

THIS BOOK! I love reading uplifting contemporary romances with humor, and Pepper Basham always delivers! Life’s been super busy, but I’ve found myself making more and more time to read her latest book, LOYALLY, LUKE. Is it swoony? Absolutely. Are the characters relatable? You betcha! What about faith? It has the perfect amount to leave you encouraged and not preached at. I can’t wait to experience this one again with the audiobook version.

I absolutely loved this book! It's easily my favorite in the entire Skymar series.

I've always enjoyed Luke's character in the other books, finding his humor and dry wit so fun (my favorite!). It was such a treat to read about him finding love. The banter, the tropes—everything you want in a love story is here. Plus, this book can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.

This was less email-y as the other two, which I personally prefer! And it had WAY more faith intertwined with Luke’s character, which I LOVED. Pepper Basham did an incredible job creating such compelling characters.

If you have the chance, I highly recommend the audiobook version. It’s hands down the best in the series, with around five different voices that make for an incredibly fun listening experience.

Thank you, Pepper Basham, for another wonderful book!

I have loved the Skymar series. I have been impatiently waiting for Loyally, Luke ever since I finished Positively Penelope. I highly recommend reading the books in order.

The first lines immediately drew me in and had me laughing. Poor Luke.

Don't read this book.

It's embarrassing.

And private.

I have a feeling my youngest sister has paid some sort of homage to the Hallmark pixies and they've turned my world into an ooey gooey, magical snow globe of romantic tropes.

Read for:

🔨grumpy teddy bear

👑ice princess (or is she?)

🔨movie quotes

🔨interactions with the kids

🔨Loyal, legendary

👑determined to overcome her past

👑character growth

👑 interior designer + more

👑 🔨 witty banter

👑 🔨chemistry

👑 🔨text messages

There is so much to love in this book. I love the family relationships, all the texts/emails, and the friendships. While this is a light read, as we get to know the characters better, stuff is revealed that is not light and fluffy but helps us to know them better. I thoroughly enjoyed the cast of side characters as well.

While the first book was mostly epistolary, and the second as well, this one is more of a mix but still done so well.

Honestly, there are not enough words, or even the right words to explain the awesomeness of Loyally, Luke (or the series). Do yourself a favor, pick up Authentically, Izzy, Positively Penelope, and Loyally, Luke, and binge-read the whole series. Then, and only then, will you understand why this series is a must-read, and why it is so hard to explain!

Thank you to JustReads Publicity and Pepper Basham for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was ok. The story was cute and all but I found it very cliché.
Luke the main character was the typical Prince Charming. The problem was he wanted to be THE MAN. The one that is strong and cannot diminish his masculinity by being soft, or loving romance. Plot twist he is soft and he is romantic.
Ellie was the typical princess with her redemption arc planned out.
Let´s say that if you are looking at all the tropes possibly imaginable, this book gives them to you.
It´s light and predictable, which are not bad qualities, but after 20% I already knew EVERYTHING that was going to happen, and so it became boring very quickly.

What I liked the most about this book were the side characters and the audiobook production that was simply outstanding. It had a full cast of actors and it helped a lot to finish the book.

Such a lovely book!! Luke is just fictional perfection! Also Ellie is just PERFECT for him!😍😍😍😍 This entire book I was just wondering, "How did Pepper write herself out of this corner she put these 2 in?!" And then the ending came and it was just perfect.

One of my favorite parts, was when Luke sees Ellie in casual clothes for the first time, and in his mind he is comparing the feelings he has at that moment, to the first time he went in a 3 story Bass Pro. I laughed so hard at that part!! Such a Luke thing to think too!

This book is LOVELY and you should definitely read the whole series!!

Oh wow. After reading all of the Edgewood books, I think I have to say that this one's my favorite. While I could relate to Izzy and her deep love for books, I couldn't relate as well to Penelope and her love for sparkles, princesses, and the like (still a fabulous book, though-you should definitely read it!). But Luke??? Goodness, I think I AM Luke! Well, the female version of him, anyway. A little cynical, blunt, sarcastic, a little gruff, and a background support who hates being in the spotlight. Also, not romantic, though I do like romcom books. Not so much the movies.

But I digress.

I loved this book so much! I was cracking UP, and even in the van, with all the kids around, when I heard a bell on the radio, I thought, 'chime!' And then I had to remind myself that I wasn't actually living in a Hallmark movie OR a book.

Listen. When you hear chimes, when you get a little teary-eyed, and when you end a book with a great big grin on your face, you know it's a good one. But also a little bittersweet, you know? We have to say goodbye to the world of Skymar. It's been simply wonderful.

So happy to read Luke’s story finally! It was every bit as charming as Izzy and Penelope’s stories. Such a cute book series.

I have adored every minute of this Skymarian journey that the Edgewood family has been on! From Authentically, Izzy to Positively, Penelope and now onto Loyally, Luke, these cousins have brought so much delight into my literary world.

Handyman Luke returns to Skymar to work on a remodeling project for one of the countryside orphanages. While there, he meets "Ellie," a beautiful and somewhat uptight young woman—who he has no idea is actually Princess Elliana. Luke sees someone who needs a friend, and is especially happy to meet a woman who has never watched a Hallmark movie.

Princess Elliana is about to reenter royal life after taking a lengthy sabbatical to recover from a string of poor choices. She's determined to do better and serve her country with single-minded determination. Luke is a breath of fresh air—not only because he doesn't know her past, but also because of his straightforward view of the world.

Luke and Ellie's friendship and attraction grows, but the day comes when her identity is revealed. Is there a way they could be together? Luke has a business and loved ones in North Carolina. Ellie is a princess of a European country. How could things ever work out?

If you like Hallmark movies or have an appreciation for warm and rugged heroes, this book is for you! I hope you'll check out this series and come to love Izzy, Penelope, Luke, and company as much as I do. The audiobook is tons of fun as well.

I received a copy of the book from the author and the audiobook from NetGalley. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Another great book, another series complete.😁
Once again, I did this book a disservice because I read it too slow. I still loved it, though, but it wasn't quite a 5 star for me.
Luke is still my favourite character, but I think my favourite parts were still the text messages / conversations between Izzy, Penelope and Luke!
I felt like there were more faith elements in this one than the other two books, which is a big bonus for me!

Brokenness, your identity in Christ, second chances, self-worth, independence...those are the themes that immediately come to mind.
There was plenty of romance and sweet moments, but Luke's sarcastic, anti-romance, Rambo loving, personality still shone through!😝

The back of the book sums up Luke perfectly! Read it!!😊

I can't wait for Peppers' next novel!💕

'I'm surrounded by pixie dust and romance and no amount of Rambo quotes will help.'

I have been holding my breath for this book. Positively Penelope was my IT book of 2023 and Luke became such a staple character for me in both Authentically Izzy and Positively Penelope...so his book was at the top of my MUST READ list of 2024.

I am not disappointed.

What I love about Luke: his sarcasm (first and foremost-I love anything that will make me laugh out loud and Luke can do this at almost every phrase that comes out of his mouth). I also love his relationship with so many women: sisters, cousin and of course Ellie! I can't even count how many lines of his I highlighted throughout my initial read through. (That's right, this book has already been read more than once this year!)

Ellie is such a fun and complex character. I love her redemption path and her step back into the Royal family. It's relatable (well maybe not the royal part, for all of us commoners.) But that sometimes we take a different path in life and we can always find our way back. I also loved the meet-cute, their second meet-cute, and literally everything that followed. She is perfect for Luke. I loved that she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and be an actual help in everything she was doing.

I loved the setting, I loved the small town charm feel, I loved the off-limits romance and Roman Holiday vibe, I loved the royals...you get the picture, right? I loved it all!

Such a joy to read. Highly recommend!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Content: acknowledgement of past life indiscretions and alcohol use (no explicit details), redemption vibes, sarcasm and banter (it's all so good), a couple of religious exclamations (no OMG's), romance-kisses only.
