I enjoyed volunteering to work on this book project and learning about how everyday people in a basically rural county become artists and make an impact on local lives and the world. Legacy artists from Johnston County, North Carolina are honored within these pages, including actress Ava Gardner, award-winning mystery novelist Margaret Maron, and musicians Algia Mae Hinton and Bill Joe Austin.
