As an Alchemyst, the ordinary citizens see Elijah's incredible abilities as nothing short of magic (or witchcraft), but Elijah draws his power not from the arcane, but from thirty-two pouches strapped along his chest, each filled with Alchemystical ingredients that he combines to spectacular effect. Despite appearing mystical to outsiders, Elijah is an outcast among his peers. Other Alchemysts find their natural Paths and specialise into a particular branch of Alchemystry, but no matter what he tries, Elijah remains unable to uncover his calling. After a chance encounter with an ingredient that unlocks long-buried secrets, he starts to unravel the mystery behind his own origins and finds that the history books are incomplete. Do those who hide the past deserve to rule the present?

Elijah and his companions embark on an adventure across the continent of Kingsland, unravelling the threads of the past and being forced to make decisions that will impact the very future of humanities survival. Encounter deadly creatures, such as ferocious Sabrebeasts, and see how Alchemysts fight back against endless hordes of foes with incredible, and sometimes bizarre, concoctions and formulae.

Alchemystry is a unique book in many ways! The world building is something I have never seen. It is nice to have a plot which hasn't really been done! The character development is brilliant especially for the main character. So many brilliant fighting scenes and the beasts are honestly gruesome!! A mixture of science/magic, beasts, twists and turns. Something fresh and unique and becomes addictive!
