Two princesses, born seventeen years apart to the same father but different mothers. Their father, King Henry VIII, is determined that no woman shall ever wear the English crown. But when their younger brother, Edward, dies naming another woman as his successor, the two women take action - in very different ways.
This book gave a lot of background understanding to the personalities and insecurities of both Elizabeth and Mary Tudor. I enjoyed the way it formulated reasons behind their decisions, during their reigns, and how their upbringings and early life's moulded their desire to become Queen. An enjoyable, informative read about the two daughters of Henry VIII, with points raised in a logical manner.
Not what I expected. When I picked this book up, I expected a fictional novel. This book was more informational, but good. There were a lot of liberties taken because, obviously, what was on the characters' minds is not actually known. Following history, however, the suppositions made were logical. Interesting how Anne and Elizabeth lived their lives dancing around each other and their situations.
Really enjoyed this book my daughter found at a second had book store while on holidays. It basically looks at the whole saga of Mary and Elizabeth from their perspectives. An easy read and I learned a lot about that period in history.
