CIA Operative Matt Callahan is the oldest of the four sexy Callahan brothers (Matthew, Mark, Luke (GIVE HIM THE SLIP)and John) of Brazos Bend, Texas. Nicknamed "Demon" as a troublemaking teen, Matt and his brothers were known for their wild antics. Their mother died when they were young, and their father, overcome with grief, was emotionally unavailable to them for years. Matt always looked after his younger brothers and felt responsible for his part in his younger brother John's violent death.

Matt meets free spirit Torie Bradshaw on a South American island when he agrees to do a favor for her father, General Bradshaw. The General wants Matt to rescue his favorite daughter, scientist Dr. Helen Bradshaw, from suspected drug lords/terrorists. But Torie is Helen's twin, the black sheep of the family, and Matt mistakenly rescues the wrong sister.

Torie is a photographer, a celebrity paparazzo, and she is visiting Helen to check out her sister's unsavory fiancee when she inadvertantly witnesses and photographs a murder. She's literally running for her life when Matt steps in to save her.

There is instant chemistry between them--Torie, who's a James Bond buff, sees Matt as her own real life "double O-yeah", and Matt, who's been fantasizing about Torie (who her thinks is Helen) after watching her for a day, is smitten. *****Slight Spoiler coming**** But what starts out as an exhilerating escape from the bad guys and a smoldering sexual attraction, ends with a thud when Torie accidentally shoots Matt in the leg, effectively ending his career as a field agent.*******

Eighteen months later Torie reappears in Matt's life at his Texas winery/vineyard, asking for his protection when she is threatened by a stalker. Matt is ambivalent about helping Torie. Although he can't deny the attraction he still feels for her, he also resents her for basically ending his career, and she's another distraction he feels he doesn't need. Matt has his own problems with his manipulative father, and he and his brothers are all battling their own demons. Does he really need all the problems helping Torie would bring?

When the stalker's threats become more personal, it's enough for Matt to commit to helping Torie and he keeps her hidden in Brazos Bend. Their relationship reignites, and what starts out as a sexy one night stand turns into much more. Torie knows it's love, but can Matt ever admit to Torie and himself what he feels for her?

I loved this book, it was fast paced and I couldn't put it down! Torie is a wonderful heroine--full of life, honest and gutsy: she lays her heart on the line, actually admiting her feelings for Matt, and this scares him.

Matt is the typical sexy alpha hero, pretending that his feelings for Torie are nothing but sexual attraction and afraid to admit what she really means to him until it's almost too late.

The dialogue and banter between the two is both sexy and often humorous, and there are many hot and steamy moments.

The ending was very endearing, and plays into all Torie's James Bond fantasies--Matt goes all out to woo her, and it left me teary eyed. Wonderfully romantic--I give it 5 stars!

5 stars – Romantic Suspense

This is another fun, sexy, exciting read in the Callahan Brothers romantic suspense series about three former hell-raiser bad-boy brothers (referred to as the “Holy Terrors of Texas”) who are now hard-edged military/security men/government agents.

Matt “Demon” Callahan, the oldest of the bad-boy siblings, meets Victoria “Torie” Bradshaw on a rescue mission in South America. He thinks it’s her brainy scientist twin sister Helen that he’s saving, and so he’s not too ecstatic when he realizes that he’s actually rescued meddling paparazzi photographer Torie. Matt’s anger and frustration with Torie reaches fever pitch because of her deceit and the fact that he hates paparazzi, and yet he feels an unrelenting, combustible sexual attraction to her...even after she accidentally shoots him in the leg and ends his career as a CIA field agent! Hence, when a stalker threatens Torie and she shows up at Matt’s Texas ranch vineyard in her Mini Cooper, with her purse pet Gigi in tow, and firing her pink Glock gun at his SUV tires; he’s got no choice but to help her in order to get rid of her. But can he resist their high-octane, off-the-charts sexual chemistry?

There’s lots of humor in this book and several laugh-out-loud moments that had me rolling! I loved all the clever, witty James Bond references and nicknames (Torie’s got a major James Bond obsession).

Here are some of the funny nicknames for Matt’s character:
1. Demon
2. Agent Yummy Buns
3. Double-Oh-Jerkface
4. Double-Oh-Yeah

Here are some of the funny nicknames for Torie’s character:
1. Shutterbug
2. That Damned Woman
3. Evil Twin

I love this quote from the book (found on page 44):
“People liked to say that life wasn’t fair, but that simply didn’t go far enough. Sometimes, life was a Chuck Norris kick in the balls.”

I really enjoyed Never Say Never (very fitting title), with its great characters and the perfect mix of tension, suspense, steamy romance, and wacky hilarity. I give it 5 stars!

What a fun romantic suspense! Enjoyed the humor--laughed out loud several times at the James Bond references and nicknames the characters used throughout the book.

Never Say Never is appropriately titled and grabbed This Reader's attention from the first page. Actually read #3 in this series first (by accident), then grabbed what I thought was #1 only to get hooked after I realized it was #2. Oh well. Reading this series backward and I still enjoyed the heck out of it. :-)

Matt "Demon" Callahan is the older of the four Callahan brothers. He's CIA and Torie is a big fan of James Bond flicks. He meets up with Torie (Victoria) who is a member of the dreaded paparrazi. He is attracted to her, but dislikes her career--for personal reasons. One thing leads to another and Torie seeks Matt out for help because she has become one of the "stalked." Only her stalker is out to harm her.

Enjoyed the writing style--it was excellent--and the humor and character's growth throughout the book. Steamy, but not over the top, with good suspense. Loved the pink gun! (Psst. Don't have to have those custom-made anymore; they sell them like that over the counter.) :-)

Loved the purse pet!

From the book:
"Agent Yummy Buns"
"Shutterbug"

From page 102
"Oh, God."
"Ah, now, Victoria." He winked at her. "You can call me Matt."

Noticed that fiction db gave this series another name: "Holy Terrors" I see why because it was a nickname the brothers got from their youth.

I’m loving this series! The series is set in a small Texas town, and follows three very close brothers, the rocky relationship with daddy, and the women who tame them. Never say Never is the second in Ms. Dawson’s ‘Holy Terrors’. Matt “Demon” Callahan. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. The beginning is rather funny because the heroine, Torie, ends up shooting him by accident. Well that’s not really funny--but the situation is. Torie is a James Bond fan, and there are so many references to the movies that I had to chuckle. She has a few nicknames for Matt. My favorite was a play on 007 with ‘Double Oh Yeah’. *tee hee*

The relationship with daddy, Branch, gets a few more twists, and I’m really anxious to see how it ends up. I do believe the man was a selfish jerk, but hey—he’s still your father and he’s getting old.

The third book is Mark’s. He is Luke’s, or Sin’s, twin.

Mark ‘Devil’ Callahan, here I come!

A much better book than I expected. My first book from Geralyn Dawson and definitely not the last one.

Saving her sister from committing a life error, Torie becomes a witness to the murder and has to flee. She is helped by Matt, a CIA agent sent by her father to save her sister. Their meeting is not going well. Although there is attraction between them, there are also lies and the whole situation ends in the accidental shooting of Matt in the leg. A few months later, Torie is followed by a stalker and turns to Matt for help.

I really like the main characters, Torie and Matt. I have no doubt about the attraction between them, maybe some doubts about the deep love that has developed in a few days, but it's not so bad. References to James Bond are hilarious, they are so much fun to me. I also like the other brothers of Matt and I'm happy to read their books one day.

Suspense part is very interesting and the solution is not obvious, I did not expect it. The amount of suspense and romance is well balanced. The suspense may not be the most innovative but it is definitely well-constructed.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot, rate it 3.5 stars. I will for sure read another book in this series.

The second in the Callahan Brothers series. I really enjoyed this book. Even though it is part of a series it stands well alone. The 1st book was Give Him the Slip and I loved it, too. This one has a heroine that no ones likes and is often referred to as That D**** Woman. It has a good blend of action, humor, romance, suspense, mystery and yes, even sex. There is a 3rd book about the last brother coming out in Oct 2008.

I liked this second Callahan Brothers book as much as the first. All three of the brothers are great hero material, and I enjoyed reading Matt's story in this book. Matt was an appealing hero, and I found his only drawback to be his inability in the beginning to look past his distate for the heroine's career and see all of the good aspects of her character. The heroine, Torie Bradshaw, was a generally decent person who was loving and sweet - even though her chosen career brought her disdain and a lack of respect. The heroine did have a couple of TSTL moments toward the beginning of the book, one of which greatly increased Matt's contempt towards her. I enjoyed seeing Matt come to not only desire, but to truly like the heroine. I enjoyed both the storyline and the characters in this book, and I eagerly look forward to reading Mark Callahan's story.

When Torie Bradshaw takes the opportunity to film her future brother in law in the arms of another woman, the last thing she expects is to find herself filming his death. Alone, and on the run from the murderers in a tropical island rain forest, Torie is rescued by an intelligent, gorgeous, James Bond type. Even in their dire situation, Torie and Matt Callahan are immediately and strongly attracted to one another. Their plans for a future date are derailed when Matt finds that he has not rescued Helen Bradshaw, but her "Evil Twin." Matt hates everything he has heard about Torie Bradshaw, and an incident occurs upon departing the island that extremely intensifies his negative opinion of her.

Torie Bradshaw was hurt when Matt turned against her as soon as he learned her real identity. She very much regrets that her actions during a moment of folly resulted in consequences with a detrimental effect on Matthew. Torie regarded Matt as a daring hero whom she truly liked, so when she realizes her life is in danger a year and a half later, she goes straight to him for protection. Matt's contempt for Torie causes him to immediately refuse her reqeuest for help. After sending her away, guilt sets in, and a few phone calls confirm her story of a stalker. Matt wants nothing to do with Torie, but he decides to find a bodyguard and an investigator for her while not getting involved himself. With all set for Torie to leave town on the day following her arrival, Matt finds himself unable to deny his overwhelming but unwelcome attraction to Torie, and spends a passionate night with her. The next day finds him anxious for her departure, but everything changes when Torie's stalker brings harm to Matt's family. Matt calls his brothers to his home and shelters Torie there. Torie reveals her feelings for Matt, and they continue their intimate relationship. While Matt and his brothers work to find Torie's stalker, Matt must come to terms with his deepening feelings for Torie and decide if he can get past his revulsion over her career. As events escalate and the stalker appears, Torie and Matt also have to contend with what Torie sees as a terrible betrayal by Matt.

Never Say Never was a very good romantic suspense book. It had appealing characters and a good story. I enjoyed reading about the Callahan family again, and I look forward to Mark's story. I hope to see some acceptance and peace brought to the extremely troubled relationship between the brothers, especially Mark, and their father. So far, this has been a very enjoyable series.

This was such a fun book, solid 4 1/2 stars. It was recommended to me by an Amazon Discussion as a favorite. It was sexy, it made me laugh, and I loved all the references to James Bond. The heroine was feisty and fun and she had so much confidence in herself when everyone was against her, even naming her "that Damned Woman". The grovel scene by the hero was one of the best I have ever read. This isn't some deep, intense book with heavy angst. It's light, funny, lots of action/adventure and caught me from the very first scene. I will definitely look for more from this author. This is book 2 and I didn't read book 1 and even though the characters from book 1 were in it, it was easy to figure out their story.

The first chapters of this book were awesome. I was enthralled both by the story and the characters. I liked their banter and how exciting the story seemed to be. But then it all went downhill once Torie reveals that she's not Helen.

Torie was great at the beginning. I don't care much about paparazzi. I don't really have an opinion about them, but after reading this it seems like they live a pretty hectic life. Torie has taken pictures of a celebrity wedding by hanging from a helicopter's ladder and even been shot at before. She likes her job because she gets to move around and she has fun. But this is all frowned upon by her family.

So, Matt owes her father a favor. They're good friends and Matt has heard all about Torie, the Evil Twin. So he hates her too because of what he's learned from her father. He rescues Torie thinking that she's Helen. He likes her instantly and he asks her out. But as soon as Torie tells him that she's not Helen, he shuts down. He turns cold and immediately dismisses her as nothing but a hindrance. He completely hates her. Because she's a paparazzi. I mean, really??

So they are estranged for about two years and then Torie is being stalked and threatened. She goes to Matt for help because her father doesn't believe her and guess what Matt does? He basically tells her to fuck off and he doesn't care about her.

He's a complete douchebag to her! He's a dick to her almost throughout the entire book.

Now, that wouldn't bother me so much if Torie wasn't being so stupid. I lost all respect for her when she sleeps with him. He hates her, he doesn't respect or trust her, he got an entire town and his family to hate her, and, believe me, he lets her know this. He constantly reminds her about how much he hates her. But there goes Torie being all 'oh, I broke up with my prior boyfriend and I haven't had sex with anyone ever since I met you on that island so long ago because I can't get over my crush on you. I also don't have any respect for myself, so after you tell me you hate me, please have sex with me!'. Meanwhile Matt has been referring to her as 'That Damned Woman' and he has a harem of women at his beck and call. He also kissed Helen and almost had a thing with her. He also calls Helen honey, just pointing that out.

I mean, ugh, Torie was so stupid and Matt was a douche. I hated the things they did together because it wasn't right. Things weren't resolved between them and they started everything on the wrong foot. Matt still doesn't respect her profession at the end and Torie doesn't respect herself.

Even Helen was annoying. For a scientist, or whatever she was, she was pretty stupid.

The story was interesting, but I didn't like how it panned out. I still finished the book so I guess it was in some way worth it, but there were too many things I disliked for me to ever want to read it again or give it a higher rating.

March writes with descriptions that bring this picturesque world to life. Her cenote was just as believable for me as the winery. This lifelike story took me on a great many journeys with many twists along the way. Suspense vies with chemistry at the forefront of this story. I found myself trying to unravel the mystery of ‘who did it’ while at the same time trying to puzzle out how in the world the main characters would work out their differences.

Matt is stuck so far in the past, living with so many regrets and preconceived notions that he couldn’t see what was right in front of him if his life depended on it. At the same time, he’s a very enchanting, alpha type male that will definitely give you something to dream about. Paired with Torie, the antithesis of everything that Matt thinks he believes, and you have chemistry that leaps off of the pages. All of the movie & book references were fantastic. They added so much to Torie’s character. You really got to know what her interests were and how she thinks just based on what she says, and what she relates each even to.

Even though this is Matt’s story, the entire family is involved. Their lives are irrevocably joined, for better or for worse, as they should be. I enjoyed the fact that this novel was so much bigger than simply a romance. Everyone is important. Mark’s story is so completely heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see how he recovers in his story.

As a whole, this was a fantastic addition to the series. March has definitely written a novel that is well worth reading.

A disappointment.

The hero was a total a$$ to the heroine. Granted at times she probably deserved some derision from him but at other times he was flat out ugly to her. He didn't want to like her and told her so!

I liked the heroine and thought she had a rough start in life. She didn't have the best of professions but at least she had one and was making a go of it. I thought both her family and the hero treated her like less than a real person and it hurt. It hurt to read it. I can't imagine how it hurt to hear it.

The hero tried to redeem himself in the end but to me it was too little too late and cheesy.

Skip this one.

#2 Callahan Brothers - Romantic Suspense

Matt Callahan / Victoria "Torie" Bradshaw

I liked it! This is a pleasing mix of romantic suspense, likeable and not-so-likeable characters, touches of lightness/comedy, the brothers' decades-old family drama, and a nice cast of heartwarming small town Brazos Bend, Texas folks.

#1 Give Him The Slip gave me the same feel-good vibes while reading it -- thoroughly enjoyable! Just enough light comedy or humor mixed in with the suspense :-)

Though I prefer to take several month breaks between books in a series, Mark and his heavy drama with his father may be too much to resist. I like how Ms. Dawson gives the reader little flashes of insight into the specifics of the adult brothers' issues with their father to (further) entice the readers' curiosity (sp?). Same with Matt's slowly revealing the details of their brother John's death. I want to know more!

This was going to be a 5 star for me, but the super-cheesy ending just tipped it to 4 stars. The Bond thing was just taken too far for it to be enjoyable or even amusing to read. However, the heroine was great - I love it when the heroine starts out as someone you would normally despise, but you end up really sympathizing with - and the hero was pretty darn hot too. You also really has no idea who the baddie was until the end, which makes for a nice change.

Again, Emily march has written a sizzlin hot man..er, book, that is unputdownable! Torie & Matt not only have a sparky, humerous, name calling relationship, they have lots of suspense and a wild ride of non-stop action! You just can't help but love these two and you will LOVE the ending. I simply cannot wait to meet the next brother in this series! Bravo Ms. March, keep rockin on!

UNEXPECTED ADVENTURE! BOUNDLESS EXCITEMENT! UNBELIEVABLE MYSTERY! THERE WERE ALSO MOMENTS OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY INTERTWINED WITH INTENSE, BONE-CHILLING DANGER! AND, OF COURSE, THERE WAS CONSTANT CONFLICT...DISRESPECT...HATRED...SEXUAL TENSION...LUST...LOVE SIMMERING BETWEEN THE TWO PRINCIPAL CHARACTERS! WITHOUT A DOUBT, THIS PAGE-TURNER SHOULD BE ONE THAT HAS EVERY EMILY MARCH (originally writing as GERALYN DAWSON) FAN CLINGING TO THE EDGE OF HIS/HER SEAT FROM THE FIRST WORD TO THE LAST! THIS NOVEL DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT DISAPPOINT EMILY MARCH'S AUDIENCE!

MATT, the second novel included in the Callahan Brothers Trilogy (Brazos Bend Series), is only the second book that I have ever read by Geralyn Dawson (Emily March). After reading, LUKE, the previous novel included in the Callahan Brothers Trilogy (Brazos Bend Series), I was certainly intrigued. If a man like Luke "Sin" Callahan would have the good fortune to meet, rescue, and fall in love with a woman like Maddie Kincaid, I just couldn't wait to find out more about the remaining Callahan brothers. And... The very first time that Matthew "Demon" Callahan collided with Victoria Lynn Bradshaw in the opening scene of MATT, I knew that I was in for a rollercoaster of a ride. Their surprise first meeting was brimming with all kinds of electricity, and their connection proved fiery throughout the course of this novel. Not to mention, of course, the ensuing relationship that grew between Matthew "Demon" Callahan and Victoria Lynn Bradshaw AFTER that first unforgettable meeting proved constantly tumultuous. Thus, I truly enjoyed reading MATT. This novel was just as good, if not better, than LUKE. So, having said that, I can not wait to learn what adventure that Geralyn Dawson (Emily March) just might have in store for the Callahan family in the future.

Exciting and entertaining.  This is the second book in the Callahan Brothers series and is based around the eldest son, Matt.

Matt finds himself mixed up with delectable Torie Bradshaw believing her to be her twin sister Helen.  Working for the CIA is never easy, throw into the mix guns, traffickers, and a sexy woman with a James Bond fetish, and it is downright impossible.

Torie Bradshaw is the black sheep of her family.  The bad girl, the "evil twin". But when a stalker makes her a target she heads to the only person who can keep her safe. Unfortunately she is not his favourite person.

The connection between Torie and Matt is explosive, literally, but the longer they spend together the more they realise that attraction and love knows no bounds.  Torie is a carefree, witty woman who shows a tough outer shell but inside all she really wants is to be accepted and loved for who she is.  I loved the continual James Bond references. Having grown up watching the films I could relate to each and every one.  Which girl doesn't dream of being the bond girl who finally tames him?!  The ending is brilliant.  He couldn't have done it better!

More secrets about the family Callahan are revealed in this book and they explain a lot of the bitterness held by Mark towards his father.  Branch is real piece of work.  How he could ever think his boys would have any respect for him, especially after the stunt he pulls, is beyond me.

Mistaken identity leads to a career ending injury for Matt. He rescues Torie believing her to be her twin sister Helen. When he finds out he's rescued - and has the hots for - "the evil twin", he's pretty mad. He has a preconceived idea of who Torie is because her father has told Matt all about her.

Torie accidentally shoots Matt in the leg which ends his career as a field agent for the CIA. 18 months later Matt is trying to decide where to go with his career when "That Damned Woman" shows up claiming she is being stalked and needs his help. He tries to turn her down, but finds out she's telling the truth when his brother Mark investigates her apartment and almost gets blown up. Now the Callahans are in it til the end. You'll never figure out who the stalker is!

There is a lot of conflict between Matt and Torie - they love to hate each other or hate to love each other. Matt's family wants to hate "That Damned Woman" because of what she did to Matt - even though it was an accident and partly his fault. She endears herself to them in the end.

Lots of James Bond references (Torie knows every James Bond movie and plot) that made me laugh out loud. I loved the ending when Matt knew he had to grovel and incorporate some James Bond (even though he hates to be compared to JB).

*I received a free Audible copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first story in this series, and this audiobook was just as good. Ms March engages you from the moment you start the story.
Both Torie Bradshaw, and Matt Callahan are strong, likable characters and the plot will keep you on the edge of your seat .
Matt Callahan is a CIA agent and Torie Bradshaw , is a paparazzi , daughter of the general that Matt respects, and in big trouble. Someone wants her dead . The relationship of these two is tumultuous and the plot will keep you guessing . I specially loved all the references of James Bond.
Aside from the main plot , we continue to get glimpses of the relationship or lack there of, between the Callahan brothers and their father. Giving us a better understanding of the dynamics of said relationship.
So, get ready for a rollercoaster ride in this action filled romance.
I was gifted this audiobook . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Action packed and full of emotions, too!

This is very intense emotionally, but also in the action scenes. Matt is supposed to rescue Helen, the good twin, but instead finds the bad twin Torie. So why can't he get her off his mind? Then Torie is stalked and she comes in to him for help. This story is action packed from start to finish, but filled with the extreme emotions that Emily March has become known for. The Callahan Trilogy so far has been way more action oriented than I remember the Eternity Springs series being, which I have been reading for a long time now.

This breakneck pace just drags you through this story with an intense tone and action oriented storyline with lots of character development and some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and flawed enough to make them believable. I can't wait to see what is in store for Mark. if you like in your face emotions and heartstopping action, then this is for you. Enjoy!

This was probably the best over all romance book I have read and I have read a lot. Emily March was able to tell a very good story wrapped around two very strong characters who butted heads on several occasions. Matt Callahan had been sent to a private island to rescue Helen Bradshaw but instead he rescued her twin sister Victoria Bradshaw also known as the “evil twin”. Torie did wait until they had almost left the island in a stolen helicopter before she revealed her true identity. After quite a few twists and turns, Torie shows up at Matt’s home needing help with a stalker but ended up shooting out the headlights of his truck with her pink revolver before convincing him to help her. The dynamics between these two people made you want to read all night and never putting the book down. Great story

The beginning was a bit slow for me, hard to get into. Wasn’t too crazy about some of the foul language. Was it really necessary for the novel to make it good. Actually over all it was just a pretty raunchy sex book all the way around. Not something I would normally pick up and read but I accidentally bought it thinking it was related to another writer.I’ve read better books than this.

The second in the Callahan Brother's series didn't disappoint. This book was filled with suspense, intrigue, as well as pairing two people together who started off really disliking one another. I loved how the story wrapped up all the while learning more about the second brother. But again, a little too much about sex for my taste.

It's been a while since I read a romance and I really like this author, but the love/sex scenes are very graphic- warning to some readers. I like the series and got attached to the characters/ Callahan family and find these books a good escape from reality, Covid, the rain, the heat, etc.

Another great Callahan Brothers book!

The story of Matt and Torie is excellent! - intriguing and suspenseful. The ending is especially good! I'm really looking forward to Mark's story!

Okay

The story is to much like the first one. I'm ready to read the third book and I hope it's different.
