I live in Wiltshire, England, with my husband but love to travel and have lived in four continents. From playing amidst Roman ruins in Africa as a child to riding a Sultan's racehorse in the Middle East as a teen, I've many experiences to draw on for the stories I've been writing ever since I can remember. When I'm not writing you'll find me listening to audiobooks while I sew or design handbags, usually with a rescue terrier or two curled up on my feet!

Planning an adventure just to get away from the dullness that is her everyday life Holly signs up with her friend to go work at a ski resort as a chalet girl. Meet new people, learn to ski and try to forget her troubles at home.

At the last minute Holly needs to go alone and brave the cold so to speak. At the chalet girl initiation she however also needs to brave her attraction towards no one other than let-me-kiss-you-all-over Scott.

She is instantly attracted to the him, but soon discovers he is her boss and backs off. But Scott has other ideas, he knows he should not get involved with his employees but there is something about Holly he simply cannot resist and soon he temps her into his world of passion and sinful lust.

Holly succumbs, but as soon as she starts to really have fun and enjoy the passion Scott reveals his secret as to why she is to never lie to him as long as they are together. It is a secret Holly simply cannot accept and she takes off running, but her heart tells her to turn back only will it be too late or will Scott take her back in his arms?

The character of Holly was at first a bit irritating as she is so dull and plain, not quite the ice queen but more or less close. But as the read progressed she does become a lot more daring and her true personality shines through. I liked that the author lets her crawl out from her shell of insecurities and hold up's to become a little more care free and spirited.

But I will be honest her holding the secret against Scott made me want to slap her, as it just did not seem valid enough, it was as if she takes her past and slams it into Scott's face even after their deep connection.

I would have liked the author to let her have a deeper understanding of Scott's fears simply because they had already at the stage of the secret being revealed shared a very deep emotional connection and thus she should have not made the leap into running away, but instead stuck around and tried to listen to her heart and not her head. So yes not a very likeable character but she does come around and the author showed that she is able to evolve when given the push.

The character of Scott, was one that my heart went to, his secret of not wanting any lies was completely understandable. I loved that he picks up on the connection of Holly being different from the other girls and that he protects her against harm.

It showed that he is in touch with his feelings as man even though he is able to have any woman he wants, he still chooses the deeper connection as oppose to the only sex with any woman seeing the $$ signs. I adored that he does not jump to conclusions but instead he tries to think before yelling.

The backdrop settings for the scenes were very romantic, from the sexy fireplace scene to the very interesting and fresh out door pool scene. The author created the perfect romance with snow all around to give the feeling of heat and passion blossoming in the cold.

The dialogue was sweet, sensual and emotional but also at one stage did a swear word or two pop up that I was not expecting in this read, and I had to take a moment to make sure I was reading the right book. It sort of ruined the emotional level of the read and I think the author could have done without it.

All in all a very nice little afternoon read, coming it at seven chapters. Quick and easy to read. I am taking
away a message of holding the past against your future standing right in front of you, is one of the biggest mistakes you might ever make. Listen to your heart, it is beating the out the route to happiness.

I know that the author is planning another read in the Chalet girl series, and am looking forward to see what she comes up with after receiving feedback on this read.

The best thing about a great novella is knowing you can read it over and over again quickly whenever you want. That is what I'll be doing with Confessions of a chalet girl. I was lucky enough to be sent a preview ecopy by HarperCollins/HarperImpulse through request from author. For this I'm very thankful, this will be my quick travel read of choice on my next few journeys.

Story follows Holly Buchanan as she arrives in an exclusive skiing resort in Verbier, Switzerland. Holly is a quiet, shy and reserved character due to family circumstances that have affected her when growing up. This truly affects her and pulls drastically on your heart strings. Her new boss Scott Hamilton knows only to well what past family circumstances can do to damage you too. You fall in love with Scott from the very start and want him for yourself.

The book is well paced and with enough grit in to push it towards being saucy, which in my personal opinion is fine. It brings you deep into thought and offers you a world of delight as you imagine yourself immersed in a gorgeous moonlight natural thermal pool relaxing.
Well it makes you jealous more than that I should say.
Seriously though, it's extremely thorough for a novella and has just as much in as a full novel including an evil bitch, and we all love a bitch don't we ay?

I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a quick, in-depth and delicious read.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and comments are my own.

I really enjoyed this read. It was quick and fun. Holly Buchanan leaves London for the Swiss Alps. She's extremely guarded when she first meets her boss Scott Hamilton. Their first encounter is rather odd at a local bar where the chalet girls give up their bras as part of an initiation....later the story ends with a twist on this event which I thought was very appropriate!

When Holly meets Scott she's instantly attracted to him...apparently he feels the same but as her boss he reminds himself not to fraternize with the staff. His rules/logic quickly go out the window as he can't seem to control himself around Holly.

On New Years Eve Holly escapes a chalet party to hide out from the drunk guests. Scott comes upon her wondering what or who she is hiding from. She simply replies, "I didn't want to be kissed." Implying that one of the guests may act inappropriately given their state. He suggests they move their discussion to his office and grabs hold of her hand. This makes Holly melt and as much as she wants to pull aways something about Scott also makes her want to stay. He finally makes his move in the confines of his office. Sealing their attraction with a kiss that certainly covers more than her mouth.

And so their story begins...their pasts haunting them but will trusting one another be the key to their relationship surviving?

This was such an amazingly intriguing novella. I found myself wanting to know what would happen next and how long before they would come clean with one another. It was sexy and fun. All the things I look for in a good read.

Any novel that starts in a bar with a boob flashing challenge for the heroine gets my vote!

Holly is alone as a newbie chalet girl learning the ropes and trying to blend in while she saves up some money. What she doesn't count on is her sexy boss, Scott. He doesn't date staff and she's not looking for a relationship but somehow all this is set aside as passion takes over.

A great holiday read that will make you want to try apres ski if not the full on slalom!

This was a quick, entertaining and enjoyable read that I got through in just under an hour. It has also renewed my faith in novellas once more as I was thinking about stopping reading anything that isn't a full length novel due to previous experiences.

Confessions of a Chalet Girl was a sweet and funny story that kept me hooked and reading with a smile on my face. There were emotional moments which were nice as most of the time when these occurred it gave me an insight into the both Holly and Scott's past. This was one of the things that has renewed my faith in novellas, the characters had a past and although not described in piles of detail it enabled me to connect and engage with the characters which is normally something I struggle with.

Written with a quick pace, Confessions of a Chalet Girl keeps you turning pages at a rapid speed. I loved the relationship between Holly and Scott, especially the playful teasing. It kept me smiling and laughing as it stepped up a notch every time they encountered. Their emotions were believable and the passion was described nicely.

I think my favourite thing about this novella is the writing. The author crafted the story really well and rather than try and fit load of detail into and go off on tangents she focused on the main characters and plot. There was plenty of detail surrounding Holly and Scott and it hinted at other things with other characters but I really liked how she didn't try to cram every idea into the book. I have found with so many novellas that they jump around and are disjointed due to so many undeveloped ideas - Confessions of a Chalet Girl didn't do this, it flowed seamlessly and is crafted beautifully.

Overall I loved this novella. It was quick, fun, sexy and written well. Although I am reading this in the summer I can imagine it being a great winter or Christmas fire side read. I would highly recommend it!

Confessions of a Chalet Girl is a steamy, romantic chicklit novella. I had heard positive things about it from the chicklit communities online and was keen to give it a try. I loved the idea of a book set in the ski resort of Verbier, the chalet girls juxtaposed against the rich playboys, days on the slopes and nights in the hot tubs.

The chalet girl in question is Holly, reserved and slightly reluctant by nature. Holly is challenged immediately when her initiation ceremony involves removing her bra so it can hang from the rafters of the local bar. She is approached by attractive, flirtatious Scott and is immediately intrigued. However, it soon transpires that Scott is her boss-can Holly resist his charm and attention? Does she even want to? And why has fellow chalet girl Magda got it in for her?

Confessions of a Chalet Girl is a fun read that chicklit fans will enjoy. There are also some quite steamy scenes in there for those hooked by erotic novels. I enjoyed Confessions of a Chalet Girl, reading it in two sittings. Holly was a character that many readers will be able to relate to-she seems 'normal', with a balance of neuroses and a sense of fun. Scott is the troubled yet attractive boss, powerful and confident but with hidden depths. Magda-well, she is instantly dislikeable, which must prove that she is a well constructed character. Catty and spiteful, I wanted to reach into my kindle and slap her! And I'm not a violent woman...

The main downside for me was that the book flew by. I would have loved to hear more about the relationships between the chalet girls, perhaps learning a bit more about some of the minor characters and their exploits on the slopes. However, author Lorraine Wilson has said that there will be more Chalet Girl books, which is bound to please the chicklit readers giving Confessions of a Chalet Girl positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

I'm going to be perfectly honest here and say I was only interested in this book because it was free. I downloaded it after featuring it on my Kindle Freebies #7 post and it spent a total of 2 hours on my Kindle until I dived in to begin it!

This novel wouldn't necessarily be classed as a short story or novella but it is a small book with only about 100 pages. It is set in the Swiss mountains and features the new chalet girl Holly and her connection with boss Scott. I would like to state at this point that this book is more mature than I expected. There are very intimate scenes which I did skip in parts which I feel are not vital to the novel and made me feel uncomfortable.

However, for a 'short story', there was a lot of depth and detail added to it. I am often put off by short stories as I think that they are not detailed enough for me to become connected to them but with this I found the opposite. The characters are likable and you can really understand their motives throughout the plot. The background provided for them was just enough to encourage empathy but not too much to overpower the story. I also very much fancied Scott!

Overall, a quick and fun read which exceeded my expectations for a novel of this size! Not so keen on the saucy bits though (personal preference).

An engaging, playful read with just the right balance between romance and erotica. Despite the novella length the characters have great depth; I also loved the switching POVs.

I can't believe this is a freebie at the moment! Amazing! I definitely have to check out the rest of the Chalet Girls series. My friend is going on a mini ski-break weekend with her new husband tonight and I immediately sent her the Amazon link to this upon finishing it - it will be perfect to read on the plane and get her in the mood - for the skiing and for her husband!! Haha!

This is a lovely, sexy and gentle humoured read.

Scott and Holly spark straight away! Unfortunately, Scott doesn't date the staff... but luckily for Holly he decides to make an exception.

You can't help but like Holly. She proves she's clever from the start. And, well, Scott... you're going to have to read for yourself!

Formulaic and pat, this predictable story is mercifully short. Perhaps a good representation of the genre, but if so, reading one will hold the reader for a long time. The spoiler is, if you think you know the book ends after the first page, you are correct.

The story line was pretty predictable but the story line got better in the second half. Holly and Scott are good main characters and I wanted to throttle Magda.

An okay read but lots of sex if you want that. I did like the ending.

I got to confess, the only reason I requested this ARC was pure nostalgia. Yep, how very old lady of me! So I had this idea that it's going to have loads of snowboarding scenes set in Verbier with some fun banter- basically a cute story set in my "backyard, well the backyard is spent my teens in. Why? You might ask. Well check out the cover?! Notice the snowboard?! The blurb sounds fun and cute right? And for some reason I assumed a chalet girl was like I was one of them girls who lived in a chalet for the winter.... uhm well. That's not quite what this is about, actually. Oh let me reassure you it IS cute. But no fun banter or snowboarding to be found anywhere.

So the storyline is not about snowboarders or skiers- though there is a skiing scene, a single one. It's about Holly, a girl from England who works in a chalet in Verbier over the winter. And a chalet girl is apparently not a local like me but someone like Holly.
My first reaction to the book was: What? They ALL English?!
Frowning I wondered what had happened to the cute Swiss guys that used to live there....
But I got rather quickly over the fact that the entire cast were from England, because the story is cute and engaging. It really a classic romance set in the snow. With that come the usual angst and dramas, big misunderstanding and makeups and yes, the HAE. It is a light and cute read with some nice smut thrown it to boot.

The book is written alternating between Scott and Holly. I liked the way the were written, and I could related to them. But I have to say that their problems were just touched on, their insecurity while firstly being quite cliché and on top of that kinda rushed through, so I didn't really feel it. I kinda rolled my eyes at it and though gosh just get over it. Especially Scott. Terrible isn't? Especially when you know what tragedy I am talking about.
The support cast was your usual as well. The villain so typical, not a single surprise there. The bestie funny and while often written one of my favorite things about the book. I loved Holly's relationship with her big mouthed bestie. I guess because of us girls have someone like Piper in our life's but also Wilson really wrote their relationship well.
The chemistry between Scott and Holly was great! I liked them as a couple and totally rooted for them.
There were some great scenes between them.

I think the whole thing did feel a bit rushed, the emotions felt short cut and there wasn't enough character-building- to be honest I blame the short format of it. I think this would make a great full length novel actually. The novella thing- something between a novel and short story doesn't kinda do the idea justice.

The world-building was good, I love Verbier, and Wilson has definitely spent time during winter in the Alps. Her descriptions were beautiful and accurate, and she in a few of the scenes she got it just right. But again, I would have liked her to go more into depths. I think that most people won't mind this, but I know the place, I know the beauty and romance winters in Verbier and I would have loved it if Wilson would have brought that aspect through more. Because without it it's just a cute but typical romance story.

I love Wilsons witty and descriptive writing style, so much that I am definitely looking forward to what else she comes up with.

All in all a fun and cute romance with some steamy scenes. Definitely a read lovers of the genre will enjoy. But I wish it would have been given a little more depth.

Holly has just arrived in Switzerland to work as a chalet girl because her best friend and flatmate, who originally suggested they both do this for the winter to catch a rich guy (her joke), had gotten pregnant and moved in her boyfriend... a mechanic's apprentice. Holly figures she'll do this job over the holidays, not have to back to her mother's home, and figure out the rest of her life when the season's over. Holly immediately attracts the attention of the owner of Chalet Repos and her boss, Scott Hamilton, although she doesn't know it at the time. Scott doesn't date employees, but he's immediately attracted to Holly.

Although she becomes a favorite of the chalet guest, due to her sweet personality, Holly quickly becomes a target by her fellow female employees due to Scott's seeming interest in her.

Scott has a thing about lying. His father is a serial adulterer, his sister passed away a year ago because she never told anyone she wasn't feeling well and ened up having cancer too advanced to do anything about it. So when he suggests Holly go with he and the some of the guests on a ski run, she's not sure where that's come from until she realizes her facebook and twitter account has been hacked. Realizing it was one of the other chalet girls, she tries to tell Scott that she doesn't ski well, but he takes it for her being modest. She soon hurt herself and he's angry because he feels she lied.

Scott ultimately realizes that Holly was set up and apologizes. They start to get very close, realizing they could be much more than a hook up to each other, when Scott tries to explain why he doesn't drink, because he used it as a crutch after his sisters death. But before Holly can hear the reason, she balks and walks away from him. She's been traumatized by a lifetime of taking care of and begging her alcoholic mother to get sobber. But Holly quickly realizes she didn't let Scott fully explain why he doesn't drink and she never told him why it bothers her so much.

They both realize the only way things will work is if they are completely honest with each other and don't jump to conclusions when the other doesn't quickly understand something, like the text from her friend asking if she's bagged the millionaire yet, which Scott reads. She laughs it off as her friend trying to get her in a relationship and he understands that it's not Holly's goal and wasn't why she was there in the first place.

It wasn't terrible, it just was a little clinical in the writing. I didn't really feel any real connection or angst from the characters. Since it was a novella, all of their conflicts were resolved so quickly and without much discussion. Things were explained and accepted at face value. I guess that's good, but it doesn't make for a great reading experience. We need misunderstandings, stubbornness and sometimes, the thought that things may not work out. Everything just fell into place. Too pat.

Holly Buchanan has just started a new job, she has moved away from her home in London and even though last year her best friend Pippa was meant to be helping her with this job now that she is currently pregnant Holly is having to carry on with this quest on her own. Holly already knows that this job isn't exactly going to be the easiest considering two of the Chalet girls can't even stand her but she continues with everything that's thrown at her.

Holly is having a night off from her duties and is currently in a bar with the other three Chalet girls that she shares a room with, thing's aren't exactly to her taste considering she doesn't like the fact she should have to strip all of her clothing just to get free drinks. As she considers heading off to call Pippa, the most handsome man catches her eyes and little does she know that things are going to get a lot more interesting for her.

Scott Hamilton can't take his eyes of Holly and even though they both haven't been formally introduced, he can't help but be intrigued by her as even though her role is a Chalet girl he doesn't think that she will ever be one as there is something about her that makes her so special. For some reason they really seem to hit it off and while he is giving her a tour of the place he can't help but think that he want's to be near her more than he should.

There seems to be a connection between Scott and Holly but there is one person who honestly can't stand the thought of Holly getting all of his attention considering she was there first and that seems to be Magda. She seems to think that considering she has already laid her offer on the table to Scott that he would surly pick her over Holly so when she learns they are getting closer than she liked Magda decides to hack Holly's Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Will Magda's jealously tactics be enough to make Holly want out completely or will they leave Holly injured. Also we all know that everyone keeps secrets from everyone, even from the ones we love but will Holly and Scott be able to work everything out so that there are no secrets between them or will they wish that they had never known each other.

Honestly I loved this book and I loved learning about the characters, I would definitely recommend anyone to read this series as you wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun and games.

When Holly leaves England for a season working at a chalet in the Swiss Alps it’s to get a way from her everyday life and get over a recent break-up, she needs to have fun. Also because her house mates have announced they are expecting a baby and she needs to move out! Avoiding all of that she jets off for a season of Skiing and adventure… So this novella is about skiing and snowboarding right? Wrong!

When Holly arrives a Chalet Repos she is worlds apart from the other girls who appear to do this kind of work every season, sweet and sassy snow girls. The opposite of Holly.

The story opens with Holly and the other chalet girls in a bar full of men where the norm is for newbies to take their bra off for all to see and pin it up as a form of initiation to the chalet girl world. Holly is dubious about this but plays along, how else is she going to fit in?

Before you know it Holly is on all fours being given the reach around by steamy hot boss Scott, see I told you it wasn’t about skiing! Suddenly this novella with its cover of pure innocence hurtles into a steamy romance and frankly its brilliant.

Scott isn’t the type of boss who usually sleeps with his staff, the type of girls who normally work at the chalets aren’t his type. This is what attracts him to Holly, she is totally different to all of the other girls and he feels like he needs to protect her.

There are also deep and meaningful elements to this story, it isn’t all about romance, the story deals with abusive relationships, cancer and trust issues. The story has a really nice balance of the serious and fun elements that make it so engaging, its short and sweet without being slow.

Verdict

This is a great read if you’re looking for something in the romance genre, it’s a little bit naughty but not in an over the top or weird way just enough to keep the story going and hold the readers interest. A perfect, short, easy read.
This book caught my eye after finding out it was about chalet girls, I love snowboarding and thought this sounded perfect. After reading a few pages I couldn’t put it down. I then proceeded to the iBooks store to purchase the second book in the series. Review for book two Secrets of a Chalet Girl coming soon!

This story revolves around the main character Holly. She gets hired on at a ski resort in Switzerland with on minor problem she does not ski but since they never mention it in the interview no worries. She was only taking this job to get out of her home town and her friend Pippa talked her into it. Pippa said it was a good way for them to meet new and exciting people like the rich and famous and snag a rich husband. One snag there too, Pippa got Prego so can't go since boyfriend and her getting ready for baby coming. So, Holly begrudgingly goes anyway. This book opens with her and her fellow employees at a local bar that the tradition is that the girls have to win a drink by taking off their bra to hang above it to win a shot. To be part of the Chalet Girls she has to do it. Luckily one of the girls told her a trick and it works. When across the room she catches the eye of a handsome man. He smiles and mouths, "Not your" looking up at the bra. She can't believe he said that, yet she can tell he is being cheeky. So, she decides she is going to go over and give him what for and when she does there is a major sexual attraction on both their parts. They start to banter back and forth then when it gets interesting one of the girls shows her and tells her to stop flirting with their boss because he never sleeps with any of the Chalet Girls. She just wants to die. She tries to say goodnight and that she has to make a phone call but she a little slow on the draw due to the drink. She starts to leave when he ask to go with since he has work to do at the Chalet. This where the fun begins for this couple.

This was a cute couple it was just not an emotional enough of a story though. It felt like it was almost there but just missing it. I felt like I was not connecting all the way with them. Just when I was starting to it would switch on me. I would recommend but not more for the younger crowd for sure. There is mild sex scenes compared to what is out there. 20 New romance or YA

I love the idea of chalet girls. Maybe I have a bit of a romanticized view of them considering my only knowledge of them is from the Ed Westwick/Felicity Jones movie and a brief mention in one series of Ladette to Lady, but I love the idea of beautiful snow lodges and a ski vacation in exchange for some household chores... Okay - so my expectations of life of a Chalet girl and the reality is most likely completely off. Lucky for me, Lorraine Wilson seems to have similar expectations and this short glimpse into the life of Holly on her working holiday is just what I expected and was hoping for when I picked up this book to read.

Written with switching point-of-views, Confessions of a Chalet Girl tells the story of Holly, an English girl who is working in Switzerland as a chalet girl. After meeting him for the first time, she finds herself enthralled with her new boss - Scott. Scott is similarly enamoured with Holly and before they know it sparks are flying. But rowdy drunken rich boys, meddlesome co-workers and the pesky employer/employee imbalance of power is getting in the way of what just might be the best thing to happen to either one of them.

This book was a very quick read. At just over a hundred pages, there's not a lot of time for character development and I think the plot falls down a little because of this. The relationship between Holly and Scott happens at a fast pace. There's not much else going on in this book except for the romance between the leads. And the characters are inconsistent in their portrayals. Holly fluctuates between acting like a petty pre-teen and being a wanton sex goddess. And despite learning about him throughout the book, I felt like Scott was still a mystery to me in most ways by the time I finished the novel.

That said, this book was cute and a pleasant quick read. It's very light and fluffy with a lot of romance.

Sometimes I just like to indulge in a book like this one! An easy, light read which is quick and enjoyable to read. I would give this book 3.5 stars if I could.

You might think that this book is about snowboarders or skiers. It’s not. There is one skiing scene, but it’s not the main focus of the book. It’s about Holly, an English girl who works in a chalet in Verbier over the winter. It’s about her relationship with her boss Scott. Confessions Of A Chalet girl isn’t all lightness though. Holly and Scott have their own personal issues that they need to deal with.

Confessions Of A Chalet Girl is written with alternate points of view, between Holly and Scott. It’s well written and having both of their perspectives helped get to know them better. I felt like I knew them quite well considering it’s a novella. I think the bad thing about this being a novella, is the fact that their problems aren’t really touched upon in much depth. I’m sure if it was a full length book then Lorraine Wilson would’ve developed the writing of their problems in much more depth. She certainly shows much promise as a writer with this book.

I loved the relationship between Holly and Scott, it was believable and I found myself rooting for them. There are some great (and smutty, for those that love smut!) scenes between them. I think Confessions Of A Chalet Girl is a decent, cute read which is well worth checking out if you enjoy reading this genre.

Confessions of a Chalet Girl started out fun but quickly lost its way for me. I liked the concept, it was a nice idea but I was not completely convinced that the author knew what she wanted this to be. At times it was light hearted and funny, then it was angst and dramatic. It seemed a little all over the place.

The characters had the same problem especially Holly. One minute she was so shy she could barely talk right in front of Scott and the next she was acting all seductive. The first time the two have sex I found her to be completely out of character. She also over reacted a lot and was generally a little bit over the top.

Another thing was that nearly every other woman in the book was made out to be mean, over pruned air heads with vindictive personalities and loose morals. This made Holly seem like a virtuous angel but to be honest I am not sure she was all that much better.

I can’t say all that much about Scott because I didn’t really get to know him all that well. He seemed alright but I would have liked to know a little more about him. He kept going on about his past and family but I wanted more characters.

The romance was alright. Like the book it started off well but dissolved into insta-love. I wanted a little more chemistry and character between them but it wasn’t to be.

Confessions of a Chalet Girl was a short and fairly entertaining read but in the end it wasn’t for me.

Confessions of a Chalet Girl by Lorraine Wilson

Jane Hunt Writer First Steps

If you fancy a romantic escape to a glamorous picturesque Swiss ski resort Confessions of a Chalet Girl will take you there.

Holly didn't realise public humiliation is a prerequisite of being a chalet girl. Instant empathy with the new girl is established. Has she made a mistake? Maybe not, a sexy man flirts with her the only trouble is Scott is her new boss.

The sexual tension escalates between Holly and Scott as they avoid each other in confined circumstances but when Holly evades an over amorous client on New Year's Eve Scott and Holly share an intimate moment which makes them both want more. Scott doesn't date staff but he is willing to make an exception for Holly. The tension mounts until the inevitable happens.

The plot's interesting twists give this sexy romance its emotional depth. Both Holly and Scott must overcome their inner demons if they want their romantic interlude to last when the snow disappears.
'Confessions of a Chalet Girl' is a fun, romantic, sexy read.

The novella starts out with a gratuitous boob flashing contest and it goes down from there. Holly is working at a ski resort to run away take some needed time from the domestic problems back home. What problems there are, I don't know, because the book never tells us.

It also never tells us about the romantic male lead. He has no characterization. It just jumps right into doing naughty things. Holly has no sense of this guy or who he is before letting him explore interesting crevices. Just that he's her boss. She's physically attracted, but that's it.

The girl's characterization is all wrong too. I can't believe someone who likes control (as the author is fond of constantly reminding us) would tolerate all this "wildness". And I can't believe her boss would jeopardize his position by sleeping with one of his new employees (although maybe it's different in England/Switzerland/wherever this takes place). It reeks of "Red Shoe Diaries".

It needs more characters and better explanations for the non-conflicts that arise. It hand-waves plot developments, like her Facebook "being hacked", without explanation or characterization of the enemy. It's just there to provide a little more filler.

I very much enjoyed this quick read, but it really is just a Mills and Boon where the author has not met the word count. The male character is straight out of a Mills and Boon but you don't really get a sense of him very much because the book is so short (having said that, you don't get a sense of the male characters in much longer Mills and Boons either). I liked the female character more and with her troubling social background (even though again you don't really get the chance to get much into it because of the length of the book) she is refreshingly different from your average female lead.

The setting is good and I liked Holly's sense of being a fish out of water and just trying to keep her head above it, but much more could have been made of this. There was lots of very steamy action - if you're thinking this might be like "Girls from the Chalet School" - trust me, it ain't.

This is free on kindle at the mo and definitely the best free book I have read from the chart (excluding the classics of course) Got me through a night shift very nicely.

This novella by Lorraine Wilson is the perfect thing to liven a boring afternoon! Its steamy, fun and short enough that I could manage to finish it in one sitting!
Holly is a sweet character, who heads to the ski resort to try her hand at something new and different. It doesn't take long before she catches the eye of boss Scott - the only problem is he doesn't date, or sleep with, staff. But it doesn't take long for him to break the rules!
Both Holly and Scott have difficult back stories, and the story is written well as we see how these two deal with it and we find out if they can make it.
It's no secret from my previous reviews that I'm not the biggest fan of erotica style sex scenes, so I am happy to report that the sex in Confessions of a Chalet Girl is written really well, it is racy and steamy, without going too far over the top.

I can't wait to sit down with the rest of the books in this series!

I didn't really know what to expect when I downloaded this story for my kindle. It is a fun holiday read, perfect for the plane or while commuting.

The story is based on Holly, she decides to sign herself up to go to a ski centre for the winter, she was meant to be going with a friend but unfortunately that is no longer possible. This is totally unlike anything Holly has ever done before, however she takes it in her stride and attends alone. She is not like your typical girls there. Holly begins to try to mix in and in the process meets Scott, who as she finds out soon enough is her boss.

This is a light hearted read. It has everything a girl could want in a novella. The story did seem slightly rushed as it was so short and I felt that it could have been developed.

This book will make you drift off to the ski slopes for a few hours out of your hectic day.
