Rate this book
"May this land ever draw its strength from the purity and fortitude of its rulers' hearts."
For centuries, the small kingdom of Clachan flourished under this blessing spoken by a great magician, until an evil king invaded and murdered the royal family. The land fell into decay. Beth Wangler has loved stories since before she could read.

Growing up, she had a voracious appetite for books and loved nothing better than losing herself in a story. On one particular day around third grade, Beth paused in reading to realize that she could add books to the world, too. She’s been writing ever since.

Beth predominantly writes speculative fiction, though she occasionally branches out into poetry or historical fiction. She writes to entertain, inspire wonder, share hope, and explore truth. When not writing, she teaches History and English, reads, and crochets.

Beautiful, imaginative story. The Weavers' Blessing has the charming feel of a classic fairytale, but with the magical twist of new ideas. I can't decide what my favorite part of this story is, so I'll list them all:

The writing style is a sweet, magical, relaxing style that perfectly matches the atmosphere of an older fairytale. It felt like coming home. Curling up with The Weavers' Blessing and a cup of tea became the highlight of my day as I read this novella.

I really enjoyed the characters. They all have good hearts and realistic flaws that make them easy to cheer for. Told from 3rd person multiple POVs, each character has a distinct voice. Wangler did an excellent job of deciding what scene was told from which character's POV. Each chapter gave us more insight into any given character and really added to moments of suspense.

Lastly, I thought the romance was handled really well. As somebody who likes romance about as much as Inigo Montoya likes six fingered men, I found the romance in this novella to be very, very good. It was sweet, shippable, a main plot point without overpowering the story, and didn't leave me disliking any of the characters (a common side effect when it comes to me reading romance). So yay!

If you're looking for a beautiful fairytale with adventure, magic, and romance, this is for you.

I realllllly don't want to write this review (I die a little inside from guilt every time I have to write a negative review of an indie book, especially a PFW book, and especially when a book has so many high reviews), but I also want to get it over with. So...

I was aware going into this that it was intended to be a fairytale, so I was expecting a more whimsical story that makes less sense and isn't as deep as a regular novel. As far as that's concerned... I got what I was expecting... mostly.

Unfortunately, the balance felt off to me and it seemed like it was too deep and thematic to be a fairytale and too shallow and fast-paced to be pleasing as a different style. Time enough was spent on each small event to make me curious about what had happened, but not enough to actually provide scenes of said events. The characters were given enough thoughts and emotions to hint at character, but not enough for me to really connect with them. Likewise, Elaine and Brandon knew each other for long enough that it felt like they should have some sort of relationship, but it was neither fast enough to be fairytale-esque nor slow enough to make sense.

In the end, , and I found myself frustrated by the conclusion.

I think I could have enjoyed this story if it were either more brief or more fleshed-out.

The story did have its perks--likable characters, lovely worldbuilding in a classical fairytale style, --and I'm sincerely glad others have been able to enjoy it more fully.

This story was a quick, easy, and relaxing read. It's not often you run into a fairy-tale-like story that can just take you away for a few minutes when you pick it up. It was too the point and sweet. My only hang-up is that I'm not a huge fan of romance so I liked the first 2/3 a bit better than the last bit, but that is just because I'm me. But the characters were endearing and I rooted for them no matter what they were doing.
Great for a short escape!

I loved this quirky little fairytale. It was like the Princess Bride met The Neverending Story in all the best ways.

The narrative style was unique. The story masterfully used a few lovable fairytale tropes, and then masterfully broke a few, making for a dynamic, surprising adventure.

The main characters were vivid and lovable.

Overall, I loved the light touch of this story, its characters, and its themes. If you're looking for a fun, fairytale adventure full of hope and light, you should pick this up.

My only real complaint is that it could have been so much longer and scenes were often skipped over, which I would have loved to see played out. But I also think some of its charm is that it is a short read. I have plenty of long reads on my TBR and it is refreshing to take in something this accessible.

When the king of conquered Clachan discovers that the true heir to the throne has survived, he sends his men to retrieve Princess Elaine before she comes to claim back her kingdom. Bounty hunter Brandon sets off to fill his empty pockets, but finding the Weaver's descendant doesn't go according to plan.

The Weaver's Blessing is an indulgent adventure made for fans of Snow White and the Huntsman and The Princess Bride. Romance and rivals, blessings and cures, a dash of romance and some fairy tale flourish are combined with the cadence of a classic.

If you're looking for something that reads like a fairy tale without relying too heavily on the traditional elements, this might just be the story for you. Short and sweet, it's the perfect way to spend a foggy afternoon.

This story made me happy. What more could you ask for? It was short but sweet, quirky but classic. The characters are lovable. The story was everything you'd expect from a fairytale.

I really only had a couple hang ups. I wish the villain had been more prominent (for me that's a preference thing), and the way he was defeated was a little abrupt. And I wish the heroine had been a bit less stereotyped. But despite those things, I really enjoyed this.

A simple and straightforward fairytale; a little bit of predictability and a lot of fun! I enjoyed reading this story with my family and it was a quick and entertaining tale. Plenty of familiar fairytale elements that will make you smile and even laugh out loud as you read (even a few characters you might want to punch in the head 😉).

This is, of course, an excellent book that fairy tale readers of all ages will enjoy. In fact, probably everyone will love it. Who couldn't?

You should go read it immediately. Yes, you.

And no, I'm not biased in the slightest; why do you say that? ;)

The Weaver’s Blessing is a lovely story written with the straightforward beauty of a fairytale. I wanted to know What Happened Next from the very first chapter, and while the story is a very simple one, it works because of the style. Elaine and Brandon were adorable, and the bits of humor thrown in made it flow easily. All in all, I wish I had read it sooner!

A sweet fairytale-style story. Not a huge fan of the slips into perfect-heroine or crystal-eyes type of writing, but there were some good lines in there too, and the love interest was intriguing, and I always enjoy a happy ending. Based on what I've read of Child of the Kaites so far, Weavers' Blessing is not Wangler's only style of writing, so if you aren't as enthusiastic about this piece, please don't let it be the only piece of hers you read. She's got plenty more to show you, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her work!
