He’s uncertain of his future.

Cooper Davidson is a famous photographer and reality television star trying to flee from his own life filled with paparazzi, mental health clinics, and a cheating wife who is pregnant.

When Andrea and Cooper’s paths cross, they realize how damaged and in need of escapism they both are. The two create an arrangement to explore the space in between chaos and order with one another. The rules are simple—no emotional connections, no talking about the past, no speaking of the future, and when one finds order, the other walks away.

All is well until Cooper accidentally falls in love with Andrea.

No one writes like Brittainy C Cherry. The Space in Between is her debut novel and for some reason, I’d not gotten to it. I made sure to change that. Although I’ve seen a lot of growth in B Cherry’s books over the years, this was still a strongly written debut. It still made me love, made me smile, and made me feel- just like I always expect to when reading her books.

Andrea’s story isn’t always easy to read. She’s having a tough time with life. After losing her fiancee just days before her wedding, she’s struggling to get through. Thankfully, she has her best friend Ladasha to be her sounding board. When she runs into someone from her past, Cooper, she has another person on her side. Cooper cares for Andrea. He always has. He’s going through a lot right now as well. Things are crazy in both of their lives. Finding that ‘Space in Between’ where they can just be together is of the utmost importance.
"Andrea. Over here is Chaos. Which we both know pretty well. And over here..." The right hand index finger flew up. "Over here is Order. I'm gonna assume both of us are pretty damn far from Order, yet we've already hit rock bottom Chaos. So how about we just explore the space in between the two?”

I see that this book was released in the summer of 2013 so now I have to know… where is our Ladasha book? LOL! I hope Brittainy decides to write her story. She’s a fantastic character who is loads of fun, but also has a lot of depth.

The Space in Between is a second chance/friends to lovers story. It made me tear up at times, but the end left me with a big smile on my face!

4.5 heartwarming, Soda Pop-lovin' STARS.

The Space in Between is a beautiful and touching story that, because of the author's unique writing style, managed to stand out from many other contemporary romance novels that I've recently read. It's a friends to lovers story or rather a friends-with-benefits to lovers story that has some ups and downs; there are heartbreaking and sad moments but in the end it will leave you with a happy smile on your face once you've finished it.

It's a story about two people broken down by past experiences, trying to find a way to heal both themselves and each other.

After Andrea has lost her fiancée and the love of her life in a horrible car accident, she decides to make a fresh start by moving to New York to move in with her best friend Ladasha. Since Andrea has injured her leg in the same accident that killed her fiancée, she's unable to continue her professional dancing career. And now, Ladasha has come up with a temporary job solution: dancing at the strip club where she works. Andrea, albeit reluctantly agrees, but decides the set up some rules for herself regarding her interactions with customers: The Pretty Woman rules.

The Pretty Woman rules.
♦ No personal information.
♦ No kissing on the lips.
♦ No second meet ups.

But as soon as Cooper Davidson sets foot inside her VIP section at the strip club those rules pretty much fly out the window...

You see, Cooper and Andrea have a history. During their childhood, Cooper used to spend his summers with his cousin in Andrea's hometown, and that's how the two of them became friends. But now it's been ten years since they've last seen each other and since they're both broken and lost (Cooper has just gone through a bad break-up), they decide to attack the Chaos in their lives by becoming each other's peaceful escape.

"Andrea. Over here is Chaos. Which we both know pretty well. And over here..." The right hand index finger flew up. "Over here is Order. I'm gonna assume both of us are pretty damn far from Order, yet we've already hit rock bottom Chaos. So how about we just explore the space in between the two?"

Together they try to block out the memories of a hurtful past and during the time they spend together, the world around them seems to resolve. For those few blissful moments they find peace in each other, even though they're relationship can "only" be described as friend-with-benefits, but what if one of them starts to get feelings and wants more?

"I wish you could see yourself the way I see you."
"What is it you see?"
"I see a spirit that was broken the day her loved one died. I see someone who is waffling back and forth between being happy and feeling guilty for that happiness, trapped in the space between holding on and letting go. And I see someone I want to help put back together."

Cooper is a very-easy-to-fall-for hero. Aside from being an extremely goodlooking, successful photographer with a sexy southern accent, he's also patient, caring, supportive and always manages to say the right things at the right time. He's always there to comfort Andrea when she needs him. But he's not perfect...he keeps some things secret from Andrea that I thought he should have told her sooner. I know he only did it to protect her but by keeping those secrets he still ended up hurting her in the process. Don't worry though, he perfectly manages to make it up to her! ;-) Both of the main characters have very strong, independable personalities, but they seem to complement each other perfectly.

"I'll be better tomorrow."
"No you won't. But that's okay...I'll wait."
"For how long?"
"How long will I wait? Take forever and multiply it by infinity. And then I'll wait some more." ❤

Overall The Space in Between ended up being a really unique and surprisingly touching story. It had the perfect Pretty Woman meets The Notebook-vibe and I think it would make a great romantic comedy. The side characters, and especially Andrea's funny and enthusiastic friend Ladasha, kept the story light and even managed to make me laugh-out-loud a few times and I would love for her to get her own story! ;-) With this debut novel, the author managed to grab my attention with her easyflowing, lyrical writing style and I'm already looking forward to reading much more of her future work!

"I was wondering what it would be like too."

"What's that?"

"Moving on."

Life can be very unfair to some people. One moment you have everything -a succesful job, someone who loves you,a happy life- and the next one you have nothing. It's funny how you can lose everything in a heartbeat.

Our MC Andrea Evans used to be happy once but this person is gone now and replaced by a guilty and traumatized version of herself. She is still trying to recover from her fiancée's and she is doing her best to accept that her dancing career is over.Making a new start is tempting so she moves to NY with her best friend Ladasha. There an opporunity opens up and she cant decline it.Dancing again is her dream even if that means The truth is that in the begining I was not feeling cool with her decision but then I put myself in her shoes since I used to dance too.Dancing is one of the most amazing things in the world. It's like reading ; you can choose your genre and never get bored of it.Anyway,I was so glad that she didnt end up and she set up her Pretty woman rules that Cooper Davidson came to break.

He is famous and everyone loves him. However the fans cant understand that most of famous people are not happy.Cooper has his own problems and his idiotic wife is giving him more hard time than she should. She is a total moron!I couldnt believe how anyone could be THAT stupid.Cooper and Andrea used to know each other and meeting again after all these years is like the graetest solace for them.

These two heros will try to escape from their haunting pasts and make a new start in their lives.Difficulties will occur in the proccess but when love is around nothing is impossible.

An amazing debut novel by Brittainy C. Cherry. The story is so heart warming and carefully written. You will fall in love with Cooper. He is just irresistable.

“- I'll be better tomorrow.
- No you won't. But that's okay...I'll wait.
- For how long?
- How long will I wait? Take forever and multiply it by infinity. And then I'll wait some more.”

My only problem is that the events in the first half of the book seemed to rush a little and many things happened in a matter of a few pages.Overall I liked the book and I cant wait to read more.I think Ladasha's story will be very interesting!!

4 Soda? STARS

YO ME ENAMORÉ. 😍❤️💕😍💕❤️

I had such a great time writing this novel! I hope you all enjoy! Below is an excerpt from The Space In Between! Enjoy :)

----

Chapter One
Andrea

Three days, five hours, and twenty-two minutes.

Mom kept crying. Her puffy eyes hadn’t stopped swelling for a few hours now and she could hardly breathe. I told her it was all right, but she kept hugging me, rubbing my hands in hers. She said that she would never understand why these kinds of things would happen to people, but God was always in control. I felt like that was just something people said. When they couldn’t figure out the words, it was always, "In God’s hands."

Daddy sat in the corner of the room with his thick-framed glasses brushing against his pepper gray-haired sideburns. He was a calm man by nature. Grams said when he was born there was only a whisper to show he was alive. But when she held him in her arms for the first time, he smiled to her. And he hadn’t stopped smiling since. Until today. Today, he sat there in the corner. Looking my way. Not pressuring me to get better. Not pushing me to express anything.

I turned away from Mom as I lay in the hospital bed and looked outside to the sky. I couldn’t grasp what was happening. It was a complex world. How could the sun shine so brightly and look so welcoming in the wake of such an event? The birds sang and danced pass the window and the kids laughed down on Jefferson Street as they went to the county’s fair. The dogs barked and Ms. Jacobson gossiped. Outside the world of Albany, Wisconsin, was completely normal. Happy. But inside this cold, darkened room, I sat in a hospital bed. My left leg in a sling and my body bruised on the outside, but the internal damage of my soul was the worst.

Mom tried her best to silence her muffled tears by covering her mouth, as if she didn’t want me to hear her—to avoid my suffering. But I didn’t mind. It was better to hear her than the laughter. She worried for my safety. My calm demeanor scared her the most. But it appeared she was breaking down enough for all of us.

My eyes moved towards the closed seafoam-colored curtain, which blocked the entrance to my hospital room. I looked down and saw two pairs of shoes—an old brown scuffed up pair and high heels (you know, the fancy kind with the red bottoms, that scream, ‘We’re expensive!). I knew it was Eric and Michelle, and I watched Dad pull back the curtain to let them in.

They both were silent. Michelle stood tall in a beautifully tight white floral dress featuring a red sweater over it. And there, her boyfriend, my brother, Eric was, wearing his UW-Madison sweatshirt, a pair of slacks, and his scuffed up brown shoes.

I followed after my brother to UW-Madison, where I met some of my best friends. Unlike Eric, I hadn’t become a teacher, but I followed with a cool degree in dance. I’m a fantastic dancer.

As my eyes landed on my leg, my heart skipped a beat. I was a fantastic dancer.

Say something . I wished they would talk. The staring at me with sad eyes was growing to be too much. So I opened my mouth to speak and was graced with a mouthful of air and emptied words. I tried again, and sounds came out. But the actual words were what slapped me and made my eyes follow after my mom. A never-ending flow of tears poured from me as I smiled to my calm, loving father. “Did someone cancel the rehearsal dinner?”

In three days, five hours, and twenty-two minutes, I would have been walking down the aisle in my white dress inside the beautiful St. Peter’s Church. I would have been beaming with a type of joy that can’t be expressed in words, but only in a feeling. It would have been a warm feeling of knowing that, once I reached the end of the aisle, Derrick would be there.

I would have been marrying my middle school sweetheart and starting a new chapter. We would move out to New York— him to pursue his singing career and I would be pursuing dance. I would go for my Master’s degree if I were lucky, or I would waitress tables (something I have done at Mr. Fred’s Diner off Brady Street since I was sixteen). Derrick would probably be discovered before me because he was talented beyond his years, and I would gladly become his trophy wife and the backup dancer in his music videos (classy!).

But I made a mistake.

“It wasn’t your fault,” Mom said over and over again. But I knew better.

At the end of the school year, I was always overjoyed when Derrick picked me up. I was saying goodbye to my best friend, Ladasha, who was pretty much the best dancer I’d ever seen. Madison had been the third college she had tried out in the past three years. I don’t know why but the first day I met her we clicked. The Caucasian small town girl in me was so amused by the African-American city girl in her. She would make me laugh at the stupidest things in the world, but some days she’d glance at herself in a mirror and burst out crying. I never knew why. I never asked…I just hugged her.

It was tough saying goodbye because she was on her way to New York City. “To make my dreams come true,” she smirked. Stating how there was something in her heart calling out to her. So before she could finish her degree, she had to follow the voice. I had no clue what the heck she was talking about, but I hugged her tight and promised to stay in touch.

It was always a treat when I’d see him pulling up to my building in his green pick-up truck. Derrick wouldn’t complain once as he helped me load my past year’s dorm items into the truck. When it was all loaded up each year, I would make the drive back home. As a ‘thank you’ for him helping me. It was around four-thirty in the afternoon when we got to the freeway and blasted the newest CD he had recorded.

I hadn’t even seen the car’s tire explode in front of me before it was too late to hit my brakes. I didn’t even remember crying out in pain as my body slammed against the steering wheel. I didn’t know the truck had flipped and was slammed from behind with three other cars piling up. I didn’t have time to fully grasp what had happened.

But I had tasted it—the salty sweet mix of my blood dripping into my mouth as I sat in the car. It’d taken a moment for me to realize I was upside down. I tasted the coopery sensation that infested my tongue with its disgusting flavors. My eyes were filled with tears mixing with the deep red liquids as I screamed out in angst. My left leg was abusively tucked in between the door and driver’s seat.

None of that mattered the moment my eyes shifted to Derrick’s seat. His hazelnut eyes shot open and pierced my soul by saying the last word he would ever say to me— or anyone for that matter.
“Andie…”

In three days, I would be pushed down the aisle in a wheel chair, in my black dress, inside the beautiful St. Peter’s Church. I would be suffocating from a misery that can’t be expressed in words, but only in a feeling. It would be a cold feeling of knowing that, once I reached the end of the aisle, Derrick would be there.

In three days I would be saying goodbye to the only love I have ever known. Three days, five hours, and twenty-two minutes.

But who’s counting?

Totally unexpected story, that can easily be called a sweet mix of Pretty Woman with Nicholas Sparks’ winsdom, The Space in Between is great and unique novel. Brittainy Cherry made a fantastic job at blowing my mind with a spectacular novel that easily hooked me. After several pages I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop reading until I’ve finished it.

‘Andrea. Over here is Chaos. Which we both know pretty well. And over here…” The right hand index finger flew up. “Over here is Order. I’m gonna assume both of us are pretty damn far from Order, yet we’ve already hit rock bottom Chaos. So how about we just explore the space in between the two?”

The story begins with Andrea who just lost her fiancee in tragic car accident. She can’t stop blaming herself, because she was the one driving. Now every day is painful reminder of what had happened and that Derrick is dead.

Lost and broken Andrea decides to go to New York City and live there with her friend Ladasha. To pay her bills Andrea has to strip for money.

One night she meets Cooper her friend from childhood, when he requestes a lap dance. He also is damaged by his cheating wife who’s pregnant with another man. He’s famous and rich photographer and his every move is followed by press.

They both think that sex without strings will give them closure and make them forget about their past.

“But for the first time in a long time…last night...for a small bit of a moment, I didn’t feel like constantly dying.”

The Space In Between has intriguing concept, which reminds me a little about something I could see in movie theatre on Valentine’s day. It really would be a good romantic chick flick, that girls could swoon over and guys secretly would love too.

It was extremely sweet to see how Andie and Cooper are slowly healing each other and then finally falling in love. I adored the fact that it wasn’t forced or to fast. Everything had exactly good moment to happen which made me smile. Also the fact that it’s kind of like modern, sexy Pretty Woman with addition of deep thoughts and reflections good enough to be from Sparks books made me love it.

It’s solid 4 star read!

I have no idea why I took so long to read this book. After reading prior releases and absolutely loving them, this should have been moved to the top of the list a long time ago. But better late than never I guess.

So the story of Cooper and Andrea begins in dueling POVs. Two characters both experiencing their own tragic ends to relationships. Andrea, who finds herself waking up in a hospital just days before she was going to be married, now just days away from the funeral instead. Cooper who finds his wife pregnant with a child that can’t be his… two worlds destroyed. Broken.

Andrea is struggling to heal in her small town and decides she needs to move forward. Moving to New York was what she was planning after her marriage, so why not go now? Why stay when she can be broken in a city where she can easily get lost? But one night changes everything for these two. Together they find a place to exist where the pain lessens. A place where they can not feel their loss.

I think I fell in love with Cooper in less than ten seconds after meeting him. I was done for. And although this story was emotional, I did not break. I loved that although I could feel their grief, I was more overcome with feelings of pure happiness for these two finding each other than with the hurt of their pasts.

Every time I read a book by BCC I fall in love with it. I loved the characters – the story – all of it. Eric’s drunken monologue about kites…. I died. Coops ‘opposite day’ confessions. MELTED.

If you need your romance to be loaded with feeling, strong characters that instantly steal your heart – this is a must read author. There is such power in her writing and her style. This story was sunshine, tears and love. An abundance of love. I can’t remember a time when I smiled so much during a book, not because of laughs, but because it just felt so damn good.

This book is disappointent. After a wonderful The Air He Breathes, The sapce in between lacking Miss Cherry signatire angst and word of wisdom.

The time frame is back and forth. Confusing for me. The pace and the story is... dragging and boring. I tried to finish it, but after about 3rd hour, I give up.

To escape her painful memories, Andrea left her small home town where everything reminded her of her dead fiancé.

Cooper, emotionally messed up famous photographer trying to get over the fact that his wife cheated on him.

Two broken people, one rule. Friends with benefits looking for escape from sorrowful reality.

"No strings. No commitment."

But what happens when love complicates things?

Great writing, interesting plotline. I liked the way author combined serious topics with some funny situations. However, I have to admit that storytelling skills were not 100% in this book. Author was losing my focus here and there while I was reading this novel and I couldn't enjoy story properly. Maybe I'm just being overly critical since I read The Space in Between right after finishing another story by this author - Loving Mr. Daniels - and that was a perfection (if you haven't read it yet, you have to do so as soon as possible!).

Nonetheles, I'm already looking forward to next instalment of this series. I am so super excited for Ladasha's story in The Space Left Behind since I loved her so much in this book!

I still can’t believe that this is Brittainy debut novel! What a book! It had all the angst surrounding Andrea & Cooper’s story. Andrea Lost the love of her life 6 months prior, and Cooper’s pregnant wife had been unfaithful to him—breaking his heart in the process. After a series of unfortunate events that I will not spoil, destiny brought these childhood friends back together in the same vicinity.

I am making my way through all of BC’s books. She is truly a lovely person inside & out.

I adore her books so much! They are always so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. I fell in love with her writing and books after reading "Loving Mr Daniels" which will forever have my heart, so I definitely need to read everything she has written haha! Even though this wasn't a five star read, it was still close and an overall great read!

3.5 - 4 healing stars

From my research, this was BCC's debut novel. Sorry in advance if I'm mistaken.
Even from the beginning she's had a great writing style. This story is a bit different from her later works. It is a bit more sensational, a bit more steamy. The characters are great, most of all Cooper. What bothered me what that Ladasha, Addie's best friend was a bit to central in this book. It was not her story but sometimes it felt though it was. Everybody was praising her and saying how amazing she is. She sould get her own book for that in my opinion.
The book deals with a lot of topics: grief after loss of a loved one, infidelity, miscarriage, the shalow life of reality TV stars, racism.
It was emotional, angsty, full of heart, a bit cheesy at times, but no less a good read.

Poor execution sent me to IDC territory halfway through the book and in the end, I had no sympathy for Andrea character and couldn't stand her grumpy/irrational behavior whatsoever.

I´ve had this one laying around for a long while...and I was pleasantly surprised by it, even though I shouldn´t really have been, since I´ve liked this author´s books so far.
I listened to it on audio and it took me a little while to get comfortable with the female narrator, but in the end I think she did the story justice and the male narrator was a solid one.
I had seen some mixed reviews and ratings, but I´m giving it solid 4 stars.

Brittainy C. Cherry does it again! I just don't know how she can pull it off and pull me in every single time.

The Space in Between is about two people who've been hurt, and both have been trying to deal with a major tragedy in their life. In New York Cooper Davidson is a reality TV star worth millions, but he has suffered a huge betrayal. Andrea Evans is in Wisconsin but she's trying to heal from a tragedy so she goes to New York to hopefully heal from her pain. The two people meet here under the most unusual, awkward, yet funny circumstances. I simply don't want to say too much!

There wasn't a character I didn't like in this story, although I was disappointed by a few to be sure. Ladasha is Andrea's best friend who gets her a job in New York and they become roommates. The job is not something that Andrea wants to do, but it'll help pay the bills.

Then there's Eric who is Andrea's brother, engaged to Michelle who is Cooper's cousin, but it's complicated too. Eric has one of (if not the) most beautiful analogies in the story that I loved. I just don't know how Ms. Cherry comes up with such beautiful words and to make them so meaningful.

Oh, and even though I'm not a cat lover, Ladasha has the cutest cat name for her pet: Freckles. So I even loved him/her.

Recommendation: This is obviously recommended by me because look at my rating. And if you do read this, look for the analogy in the book that he tells to Ladash to help her understand something. It is so touching.

Hero: 9/10
Jealousy: 0/10
Romance: 9/10
Hotness: 5/10
Ending: 9/10
Extra book Details: Stand alone, HEA.
Overall: Refreshing contemporary romance.

First 20% of the book involved us seeing the lead characters seperatley, the reader is thrown in their lives at the point of tragedy.

After recovering in hospital from a car crash that killed her fiancé, Andrea cannot cope with the guilt she feels. She can't stay in her home town, with the gossip, concerned faces and constant reminders of her loved one. Catching up with an old friend and arranging a place to stay, she moves to New York City to pursue her dreams of becoming a famous dancer, but in the meantime, her friend and room-mate, Ladisha gets her a job, in a strip joint. Andrea struggles with grief and obsesses over her dead fiancé.

Cooper left his home town many years ago to move to New York. Now he's a famous photographer, with his own reality TV show, creating weddings for the rich and famous along side his wife. His life gets blown apart when she reveals she's pregnant, with someone else’s baby, driving Cooper to the point of madness and sending him to a psychiatric hospital.

Totally loved this contemporary romance book. If you want to get away from stereotypical characters and fake drama, then this book will be refreshing for you. The romance was real, the secondary characters were great. The book was so easy to get sucked in to. It was done over a good period of time. It was told with dual POV's, I found Cooper's POV quite funny at times, which was great.

”I feel like such a baby.”
“There's nothing wrong with that,” he promised.
“What do you mean? Coop, since we met up you have seen me cry more than anyone. There is something wrong with that.”
“Why do babies cry?”... “Babies come out crying for a reason. It's not a sign of weakness- it's a sign of strength. It's a battle cry, saying to the universe, 'I am here and I am fucking alive.' so if you were quiet and empty after the horrific accident you experienced, I would be terrified. But tears... tears mean you can feel. Tears are a sign of life. And I am so happy you are alive, Andrea. Because I'm almost certain for most of the past six months you have been dead.”

***2 STARS***

Sadly, this one just did not do it for me. I skipped half of it and went straight to the ending just to see how it ended. I hate this because I actually liked the characters and I am a sucker for the I save you/you save me stories. There was absolutely no connection made with the characters for me. If I can't get myself emotionally involved then I can't get into the read. I'm sad because I was actually looking forward to this one. It has such great reviews. Actually, I think I'm the only one so far to give a not so great one. The story was just blah to me, I don't know how else to describe it...didn't like it :(

This one was a little over-the-top to be believable - not the story itself, but the secondary characters.
