My newest book, FALLING INTO DREW, is available now! Its star is the yummy Drew O'Connor, a man I enjoyed spending time with and I hope you will too!
One of the best parts of writing novels is the chance to immerse myself in the world of my characters. I'll miss Diego and the rest of the people in the Legacy series, but my newest book's characters are just as intriguing.
After a long career in journalism (Harper's and TIME magazines), I must say that it's much more fun to write fiction than about real world events!
One of my greatest thrills is knowing that so many readers enjoy the stories I've created. I'm grateful to each and every person who's read my books (especially those who leave reviews so that other readers can find them). You can email me at: authorharrietschultz@hotmail.com
LEGACY OF THE HIGHLANDS, A LEGACY OF REVENGE and LEGACY OF LOVE are available now.
From the first page, i got sucked into this engaging story and sighed with great disappointment to discover it was only a teaser; but that is okay - i was hooked so i had to buy the entire book. Great story, awesome book!!!
This is a short 10 page prelude to Legacy of the Highlands which I will be purchasing as soon as I get through some other books. I like the author the writing style and this prelude was an excellent introduction to the book. I did not read the first chapter Legacy of the Highlands because I do not like to start something I am unable to finish. The prelude was great just not enough substance to love it. Solid three stars.
The book is like an unnecessary prequel. Maybe it is like one of those prequels that makes sense only once you have read the first book. I will find out after I read the next book.I think that it could have worked better as a prologue in the book. Now that I think about it maybe it exist only because it is a good way to attract people for the sequel.
This book is the prequel to "Legacy of the Highlands". I was so good that I put the actual book on my Amazon Wait List because Im anxious to find out what happens.
I downloaded as a freebie from Amazon. As soon as I'd finished reading this short prologue, I bought and read Legacy of the Highlands....so glad I did!
Completely hooked already and definitely will be reading this series. In this novella you are introduced to Will, his wife Alex and Will's best friend Diego....at their wedding.
This is only the prologue of a story that will take two full-length novels to complete. But I'm intrigued all the same. I still don't know if Diego intentionally cursed them or not. I hope he didn't mean to.
Of course, if he didn't mean to, and he really did get the oath from his parents, why were his parents regularly saying a Scottish blessing around him when they lived in Argentina? That does not make sense to me. But this is only the prologue. Who knows what will happen next?
I like Will, Diego's best friend, a lot. As well as Alex, who is Will's wife. They are both really nice and the chemistry between the three of them was great.
The plot is a little formulaic. It actually reminds me of some K-dramas I've seen (Korean Soap Operas) but there's nothing wrong with that when it's well written. And this story is so far. It will be interesting to read more.
This is just a very small amount of story here to set up the next book in this series. This was about how the three were friends with a past. Two ended up marrying and the third wondering the age old "What if..." . The next book will be from the next phase in their livrs.
It's tough to rate a short story that's only about 8 pages... you barely get a feel for the characters before the short story is over.
But this is a prequel to the "Love in the Highlands" book, and so I felt it appropriate to read before starting that book.
The story is about the wedding of Alex(andra) and Will(iam) Cameron. Will and his best man, Diego, have been friends since grammar school; both are sons of very wealthy families - Will from a wealthy Scottish family that's been settled in the Boston area for many years, and Diego from a wealthy Venezuelan family with holdings all over the world. Diego has had a "thing" for Alex since she and Will met, but Alex obviously chose Will, so as his best friend, Diego played it cool.
But watching Alex come down the aisle gets Diego wondering how it will be now that his best friend is marrying the girl of *his* (Diego's) dreams. Which is why this story is entitled, "Lust and Honor" - Diego decides to take advantage of the offers from a forward bridesmaid to quench his lust; the honor is his leaving Alex alone, without even hinting of his secret love for her.
Other than some basic info about Will, Alex, Diego, and Will's stick-in-the-rear parents, there's not much here.
You get the idea that Diego goes off to Venezuela to join his father's business. Which is true, based on starting to read the actual book that follows. But the funny thing is that somehow, somewhere, Will & Diego had a fight and aren't speaking to one another at the beginning of that book. Hmmmm...
10 page prologue. I did not read the first chapter of Legacy of the Highlands which follows this prologue therefore this review is based on reading the prologue only.
There’s no doubt about it I enjoyed the authors writing style and one day I might read the full length novel. We'll see.
This is a very short prologue to Legacy of the Highlands, a romantic suspense novel.
Diego is best man to Will at his wedding to Alex, for whom Diego has rather a penchant. But the best man has to do what a best man has to: the bride and groom are very much in love, and he wishes them health, happiness, and time to enjoy their long life together…time…
This is a short teaser-prequel, and I can’t deny I was drawn to the characters and am keen to find out how the trio will fare. But I did feel I was left dangling on too narrow a ledge, and I’m not really sure why such a short prologue is published as a separate ‘book’. The first chapter of Legacy is also included, I presume to entice you even more. I’m happy to download a short story or novella—something that is structured within those parameters—but this just left me frustrated. It’s merely a scene setter for the novel—a first chapter—and I don’t particularly want to buy my books in chapters.
If the standard of this is anything to go by, then Legacy is going to be an enjoyable novel. It just doesn’t need this kind of build-up.
This is merely meant to be a short taster or dip in the water marketing ploy to entice readers to buy Legacy of the Highlands. I think it would have served the author and her full novel better if the title linked to the novel 'Love and Honor, a short Legacy of the HIghlands taster' for instance. At the moment it seems to be a short story with no connection to the Highland book until you read the taster and excerpt inside the ebook. Fans and readers of this author will be aware of that fact, but I think it would be advisable for new readers. As for the short taster, it suggests a story which will appeal to readers of the romance genre. There wasn't very much content to review, which was a shame. This was too short for a prequel and I think that could make all the difference when it comes to convincing the new readers.
Hard to rate such a short story - really, an intro to "Legacy of the Highlands", a more novel-length romance. "Legacy" was a free Kindle book, but when I saw that this was really the Prologue to that book, it made sense to buy it for $.99.
And I can't say that it disappoints... simply that it's too short to really rate. I haven't cracked "Legacy" just yet, because I wasn't sure, based on this Prologue-premise that I wanted to. Although I admit to being intrigued.
Let's just say that it's still on my TBR shelf, and I'll likely get to it after finishing one or more of the series I'm also currently reading.
After having really enjoyed reading Legacy of the Highlands, that this short story is a prequel to I was anticipating a great story however good I felt it lacked a little in story developent. I would have liked to see just a bit more explored here. It does give an insight to the characters and worth reading if you are plannig to read Legacy of the Highlands which you definitely should.
please see my review of Legacy of the Highlands - this short story details the wedding of Alex and Will. I was given a copy by the author to review. This also has first chapters of Legacy of the Highlands.
How this was considered a book, I don't get. It was way too short. Yes I'm interested in what happened with the main characters...but I guess I didn't really feel like I needed to find out.
