Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.
Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.
Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.
According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.

Noch so ein Schatz aus meiner Kindheit! Das Buch ist unglaublich schwer und unhandlich, die Seiten sind dünn wie Gesangbuchpapier, aber ich liebe diesen Schatz! Es sind 33 Hanni und Nanni Bände enthalten; einfach immer wieder schön 🧡

Es ist schon ein Weilchen her das ich dieses Buch las. Ich muss ungefähr 9 vielleicht 10 Jahre alt gewesen sein. Ich weiß leider auch nicht mehr von wem ich diese tolle Gesamtausgabe, in einem wunderschönen weinroten Einband, geschenkt bekam. Und leider existiert dieser Buchdeckel auch nicht mehr und das Buch ist inzwischen so mitgenommen, dass man es niemandem mehr zeigen kann. Ich weiß aber noch das mich dieses Buch eine Weile begleitet hat und ich absolut begeistert war von den Geschichten und Abenteuern der Zwillinge, die sie in ihrem Internat erlebten. So begeistert, dass ich am liebsten selbst in ein Internat gezogen wäre. Dieses Buch hat meine Lese Leidenschaft geweckt und ich glaube, bis heute hab ich die Seitenzahl, die wohl bei gut 2000-3000 Seiten gelegen haben muss, mit keinem anderen Buch noch einmal erreicht . :)

Endlich habe ich mir einen Traum erfüllt und mir die Gesamtausgabe von Hanni&Nanni gekauft. Und es ist ein wunderbarer Throwback in meine Kindheit…

This antology contains the 6 original St. Clare's books by Enid Blyton and another eleven books by several German ghostwriters. Although there seem to be several differences in the german version I really enjoyed reading the stories when I was a child and still find them quite charming.
