This book represents a simple, intriguing, and historically precise portrayal of sixty Companions of Prophet Muhammad. They witnessed the birth of Islam; awoke from the darkness of paganism and were immersed in the guided teachings of the Messenger of God....then they set out to spread the light of Islam to the farthest ends of the Earth.
Love, Love, Love this amazing book. It takes you back to the 7th century, and you don't feel like coming back to the present time... It makes you meet so many companions of the Prophet (s).... If one has to read only one book this year (other than the Qur'an), I recommend reading this one!
If someone asked me to recommend them an Islamic book, Stars in the Prophet's Orbit, by Asmaa Tabaa would definitely be in my top 3 suggestions. This was SO educational. I love how I got to learn the stories of 60 different sahabas and sahabiyyat in great detail, and even though the stories that were told were just a few pages per person, it still had a VAST amount of explanations and descriptions. This book gave me a whole boost in Iman and made these sahabas and sahabiyyat's stories and styles of thinking an inspiration to me. I also love how there were mentions of women and their great achievements, along with including some of the best love stories in Islamic history.
This is a wonderful collection of information about Companions of the Prophet (saws). The chapters give a thorough overview of the person, their personality, achievements, and notable events - often connecting them to others represented elsewhere in the book.
This was assigned for the Ribaat Academic Institute Companions courses, both pt. 1 and pt. 2, but I highly recommend purchasing one even if you don't need it for a course.
This is a gem of a book for anyone who wants a soul touching and easy read on 60 of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is so well researched and reading about the love and admiration the companions had for him (pbuh) and the cause of Islam really increases one in faith. We can strive our whole lives just to be a fraction of who they were.
PS. It’s authored by a woman and contains 15 female Sahabiyaat !
