It had been three years since Kelsey Winslow had been stalked by her vicious ex-husband. Three years since FBI agent John Chandler had saved her life by faking her death. Kelsey had vanished into the Witness Protection Program, but John had never forgotten her fragile beauty or how she'd trusted him to keep her safe.
Now the kilter was on the loose again, headed straight for Lubbock, Texas--and Kelsey. John's assignment was to find her and guard her with his life.
Kelsey couldn't deny her feelings for the man who had once been her savior. But bitterness and fear had transformed her from a victim into a strong, independent woman, a woman who refused to need anyone--including John Chandler.
Extreme Justice really had a good premise. John is an FBI agent, he loves the job, that's all he has, he tried marriage but failed since he couldn't open up. He grew up in an orphanage, even though his parents were alive but they didn't want him and that has affected him. The only person who came close to cracking his shell was Kelsey, a woman he protected on a case three years ago and who he shared a kiss with.
Kelsey was married to an abusive man for ten years and she took it, she was shocked when FBI came to her door-step telling her that her husband had put out a hit on her since she was leaving him. She worked along with the FBI but her husband got only three years in prison and vowed to make her suffer. She went into witness protection and now helps battered women learn self-defense. She has re-invented herself, made herself stronger, using her anger and relying and trusting only herself. So, when John comes into her life telling her that her husband is after her, she refuses to be scared and leave her life instead she tells him that she will kill him. She doesn't trust the justice system and refuses to live in fear.
John is shocked by the Kelsey he sees, she has changed. My problem with the book was the way it was written, John blew hot and cold, he was attracted to her and was trying to be professional. Kelsey was only trying to protect her life and they keep having these weird conversation where they say something and imply something else. The execution just lacked something.
