Felicia Lynn is a transplanted Florida girl, born and raised, who lives just north of Atlanta, GA with her husband, daughter, dog and cat. She spends most of her days holed up in a cozy chair with a cup of tea and her laptop, writing about the characters that live in her head. When she’s not writing you’ll find her hanging out with her family and friends! She loves reading, taking long walks, chatting with her Facebook family, and listening to music, especially live music. A self-declared lover of all things baseball, she is obsessed with every aspect of the game!!!
Felicia writes contemporary romance, because love stories make people happy. Even in the midst of anguish and turmoil, true love can turn life around, and the process is beautiful. Most of Felicia's stories are based on real life experiences, which she embellishes to tell a story. She is currently working on her second novel, titled Love’s Learning Curve.
Felicia Lynn’s debut novel, Tied Up In Heartstrings, is a heartwarming tale of a single mother dealing with the tragic loss of her husband and her journey to rebuilding the broken pieces of her heart. Can a tragedy lead to a second chance at love and happiness? Alexis Nicole’s once stable home was shattered when she tragically loses her best friend and husband, Jed in a tragic plane crash. For 18 months, she’s been an empty shell trying to fit into the role of mother and father for her 5 year old daughter, Sierra. Her friends tries to cheer Alexis on a girl’s weekend trip. At a local bar, she meets her Garrett McKenna, her college crush and close friend. Garrett is now a famous country music rockstar.
There is an instant attraction and connection between them. For Garrett, Alexis was the “it girl.” She was the one girl that he would compare other women to. Now as fate would have it, he doesn't want to lose the opportunity to let Alexis get away from him this time around. Like any widow, Alexis struggles with letting Garrett completely in. Although she loves him very much, she goes back in forth with the idea that Garrett can do better and doesn't need her baggage. She is having a hard time feeling worthy of anything good in her life and feels that she doesn't fit into his rock-star status. Garrett tries to prove to Alexis that Sierra and her are “his girls” and he will do anything to bring back the happiness that they lost when Jed died.
Tied Up in Heartstrings is a sweet heartwarming tale that reminds us all that when one door closes another opens. As much as I would love to give this book a 4 star rating, I would have to rate this book a 3.5. The alternating POVs felt repetitive at times and the heroine was too much with the woe is me. Although Garrett was the epitome of a sweet and charming country boy, I felt he was a little too sweet for my taste.
I absolutely adored Garret McKenna, this book would have had a straight forward 5* for just his amazingness alone. I had to take 1/2 away because Lexi started to grate on me. She has the most beautiful and caring boyfriend in the world and she kept making excuses.
"I crazy love you! I crazy miss you! I crazy want to kiss you sweet face!" I mean seriously who isn't swooning right now!!!!!!
This was my first book by Felicia Lynn and it will 100% not be my last awesome read, new book bookfriend, Felicia.... Thank you for Mr McKenna xx
Beautiful read, loved the characters although Alexis was sometimes a bit to whiney.
A really mushy feel good read. One I normally call my sunday reads where you can curl up with your kindle swoon and absorb.
Although Garett is a famous singer in a band there's no rock n roll those days are done hes getting older, made it big and hes very much ready to settle down.
Garett missed his chance years ago with Alexis when he started his career leaving her behind to another man but fate intervenes this Alpha won't take no for an answer and these soul mates reunite.
I read this because it was correctly shelved country music even though I knew it was a romance because the library is closed and I could get it on my trial Kindle Unlimited. So, why one star?
1. Lots of telling where showing could work better 2. The writer can't let me know someone's angry or frustrated without exclamation points! I mean one bit with Garrett has an exhausting number of them! 3. Garrett says that Alexis (these are our protagonists) is smart, but she isn't very smart, although she is definitely smarter than Lacey Luzzi in those mafia books (just start typing Lacey Luzzi in a GR book search and you'll find them) but I gave those books 2 stars. 4. I got so sick and doggone tired of Garrett referring to Lacey and her daughter as his girls. This is one of my pet peeves, no doubt dating back to my university years--studying women's studies and how (and this was so very true when I was growing up) women were often called girls where men were called men and in a demeaning way (such as in the workplace, for just one of many examples)--but it was irksome. 5. The book was sometimes really repetitive. The writing repeated the same information unnecessarily. I found the writing redundant (have I made this clear yet ;) ? ) 6. Far too much gratuitous swearing. 7. I am not into the sex scenes, but I am quite positive, based on all of Garrett's first person POV, his side was written in a female fantasy way (which, of course, is what many women reading these scenes want because it is fun escapism if you like this sort of thing). 8. Some typos in the text and some poor punctuation choices.
But if none of that stuff bothers you and you like a second chance cheesy romance, this is free on kindle unlimited.
I have sat here for awhile trying to figure out what exactly to say in this review. Don't take that as I didn't like this book, because I LOVED this book and I am stressing the word love. I have read the book 3 times and each time I read it I swear it is better than the last.
First of all let me say this...Garrett is HOT and I claimed him as my Book Boyfriend the first time I read Tied Up In Heartstrings, even before I was halfway through the book. I mean seriously what is not to love? Southern gentleman, famous country singer, romantic, sweet and respectful...enough said.
Alexis Nicole has it all, a loving husband who is also her best friend, an adorable daughter, a custom built house and all the happiness that a woman could want. Yes, her husband Jed works a lot but he does what he has to to make sure Alexis and his baby girl Sierra have everything they could ever want. Until one night Jed dies tragically in a plane crash, causing her perfect world to shatter around her. It takes 18 months after Jed's death to finally decide it is time to try to live life, so she decided to join her friends on an tri-annual weekend get away. It is there on vacation at a bar that she runs into Garrett McKenna, her college crush and close friend.
Garrett McKenna and Alexis were close friends in high school, always together and always playing music, but maybe both a little to afraid to admit the feelings they were feeling. Garrett decided to follow his dream of becoming a country music singer and leaves to head to Nashville, and over time he lost contact with Alexis. Call it fate or whatever you want but he and Alexis are reunited at a bar in St. Petersburg, Florida and he is determined not to lose her again.
Garrett knows exactly what he wants and that is Alexis, he wants her and everything to do with her even, Sierra. However, Alexis is the one fighting an internal battle, she is in love with Garrett, but how can she love someone just 18 months after becoming a widow? What would people think? How does she deserve this or anything good in her life, and how is she going to fit into Garrett's rock star style life?
The internal dialog of Alexis is heart-breaking she honestly believes that she is not good enough to be loved or to have anything good in life, other than her daughter. Garrett is in a constant struggle with her to prove to him that with him is where he belongs, and that she knows it too. Garrett will melt your heart and give you puddles in your nether regions all at the same time.
This book was amazingly written and contained so much detail about the scenery and the characters, their looks, their personalities, it made them so real. While reading it I felt like I was walking with Garrett and Alexis on the beach as the gulf breeze blew through my hair...yes it's that realistic. Felicia Lynn this book was absolutely amazing, I look forward to reading all of your books to come. You have me hooked!
This was my first book by Felicia and I was sucked in right from the beginning. This book is very emotional and left me in tears quite a few times but it’s also very sweet and romantic. Alexis has lost her husband in a terrible accident and it left her a single mother. She is struggling everyday just to put a smile on her face. She has her close friends and her brother but Alexis is still stuck in the world of loss and hurt.
Garrett is now a famous musician but has struggled to make it where he is. Alexis and Garrett lost touch over the years but were once close in college and Garrett has always had a soft spot for Alexis. When he reconnects with Alexis, he knows things will never be the same and he can’t let her go.
Alexis fights Garrett tooth and nail throughout this book. But I could understand why she did it. After suffering a great loss like that it’s hard for her to just pick up and move on. She has her daughter to be worried about now. But Garrett doesn’t give up and makes Alexis see his true feelings. This is a story of loss, pain, suffering, overcoming, finding oneself, and true love. Don’t miss out on this amazing story!! I loved every minute!
For a debut novel, I think Felicia hit the nail on the head. This was an emotional yet beautiful love story and I loved every word of it. Well done Felicia. I can't wait to read what you write next. XO
Oh the feels of this book. This book is truly a story of love, loss and finding that love again. The tragedy that happened to Alexis is something anyone would struggle to overcome. Enter Garrett and he sweeps her on her feet so unexpectedly. I think what I really enjoyed about this book is the fact that it was a friends to lovers situation even though they had not seen each other in years. They just connected. I really loved their level of connection regardless of Alexis and her freak out moments. While some may say it was royal over the top, it’s hard to say how a person would react letting someone into their lives after the tragedy. Overall, I found this book a great story with love and emotion. The moments felt real and you really just feel like you are watching a movie play out in front of you. I would recommend this story to anyone that wants a feel good romance.
Are you looking for a feel good and give you all the feels book? Then stop right here and download this book. There is love, loss, tragedy, and friendship. I love a good friends to lovers book and this is one that will be at the top of my list for a long time to come! I love Garrett and Alexis! I just wanted to be there with them and help them as much as I could. Beautiful written with so much love and detail. This will not be my last Felicia book!!!
When Felicia asked me to read for her, I don't think she knew what kind of trouble she got herself into. And y'all know I'm an asshole, so I just didn't read... She promised me she would kill them all off, that we'd have zombies taking over the world. Well, I can't tell you if that came true or not, you'll have to find out for yourself. But let me tell you. Caveman, Alpha, Country Singing Zombie Garrett...dayum! Capital DAYUM! I need a man like that in my life. She better now go out and find me one. Or I'll have to....I'll think of something bad because I have to pay her back for what she did to me! And the cutest little Zombie ever, Pigtail Princess Sierra! Oh my gosh! I adore that little girl! Alexis...now, that woman made me mad at times. And then you had to sympathize with her because of the tragedies and hardships she'd been through in her life. She's not bad. HAHA! No seriously, that woman handled it all. Just wasn't too sure of herself after all she'd been through. I loved working on this book, loved working with Felicia. And if she tells you I wrote this review...it's all lies. I don't do nice, everyone knows this!
I will admit that this book will suck you in from the first page. This book has many ups and downs that will leave you happy one minute and in tears the next. I found this to be a very emotional read that was well worth the time. The author does an amazing job in writing this outstanding read. Overall, I highly recommend this book!
One door closed for Alexis and her daughter Sierra, but another one will open. Loosing ones husband is not easy to deal with and Alexis has her hands full and her mind also dealing with the pain that comes from this loss. Even as she is shutting down her Family and Friends are helping her move forward, and learn how to love again is something they all have in mind for her. While in college she had been friends with Garrett who left to pursue a dream, to become a singer, at the cost of leaving the one person he was interested in and meant the world to him Alexis, now fate throws them together, his feelings for her are still there and he hopes and wishes that she too will feel like he does. Life has thrown them together and now we can watch as they come together and we can wonder if they will survive and grow close, great book, lovely story and great characters.
There is a fine line between what I would give a 5 star review and those that might get a 4.5 or 4.75. First the story has to be one that when I am finished, I want more of the story. Second, I need to be able to relate to the characters and feel the emotions that they are feeling. I need to actually CARE about what is going on in their lives. Last, it has to be a book that I CAN'T PUT DOWN! I can promise you that this is a story that will have your emotions all over the place and you will love every moment of it.
Garrett and Alexis were great friends in college. They would sit in the quad and play music and unknown to each other were falling in love with each other. Garrett took off for Nashville to follow his dream to become the next big country music star. He never looks back and loses touch with Alexis along the way. Alexis married Jed and has a baby girl. One night, she gets the call that any spouse who has their partner away on business dreads to get. We are sorry, but your husband has died. When he died, Alexis died a little bit inside also and holding everything together for her baby girl.
Jump ahead 18 months and Alexis's friends are tired of Lexi not getting on with her life. They know that she is ready, just she don't see it in herself. While at a bar on her little getaway, she hears "Lexi? Is that really you?" Never did Lexi think that she would see Garrett again. Needless to say, neither one of them have lost their feelings for each other, but is Lexi ready to Love again and can she live up to the life that Garrett now leads.
I never thought that any book boyfriend could live up to Ryan Christensen from Love UnScripted. I can say that Garrett McKenna is right up there with Ryan. The only flaw that I could find in the book was that I honestly can't see where a man like Garrett lives in real life. He is so sweet and loving and swoomy. Yes- I said SWOOMY. The instant relation ship he has with Alexis's daughter Sierra is one of a kind. You can see where she falls in love with him and him with her. The relationship between them is just like a country music song (and the song that Garrett writes for Sierra is one of a kind awesome!)
At times, you want to ask Lexi- WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING THIS??? Then you read on and find out that even though she was in love with her husband, he was not the love of her life and it scares her what people will think that she is so in love with someone after 18 months of being a widow. Little does she know that true love won't ever fail you!
I have never cried so many happy tears while reading a book!! Felicia Lynn does an amazing job telling this wonderful love story and making it relate-able.
Alexis is a young single parent, after tragedy takes her husband away. Her life is now all about her daughter Sierra. She puts on her fake it 'til you make it smile and works hard being both mother and father. She has a wonderful support system of friends and family who are always there for her, but she doesn't know how to get out and start to move on with her life. When an annual girls weekend comes along and Alexis is forced to go it's just what she needs and does her best to have fun. In comes Garrett, an old college friend and crush.
Garrett is a sexy country music star in Nashville. He just so happens to be on break from tour and in the same place as Alexis. A chance meeting at a bar brings them together. He has always loved Alexis, but never told her. He knew she was married and that was one lucky man. Garrett also knew about her husband's death, but didn't know how to reach out after all these years. Now that he has run into her he can't let her out of his life again. He has fame and fortune, but he wants so much more than that. His life has felt empty and now it could be complete. The way he talks to Alexis and pours his heart out to her absolutely melted my heart.
What starts out as a rekindled friendship grows to so much more. I loved watching Garrett's relationship with Alexis' daughter, Sierra, grow. She is a spunky kid and too smart for her own good. Their interactions seem so natural for a new man coming into a young kids life. Garrett knows it won't be easy and he needs to work hard to prove he can be the family man and be there for both of them.
We get a glimpse or tease at their best friends Whitney and Jon's possible relationship. I hope this story continues with all of the characters. The way Felicia writes Alexis' feelings throughout the entire story are exactly what I was feeling as I read it. I have never read a story about a more relate-able character. Her friends are the same friends I have. Always there no matter what, they will dig you out of any hole you are in and tell you when you are being stupid and need to open your eyes. I crazy loved this story. Can't wait to read it again and again! Felicia did an AMAZING job on her debut novel. I will read anything she writes.
Favorite quote: "I have these strings attached to my heart that are all wrapped up in you, and I just can't walk away without ripping out a vital organ"
I wasn't sure what to expect this book, but it is amazing! You start off with Alexis who is dealing with the loss of her husband right when they are celebrating their 4th anniversary. It fast forwards to 18 months after, and she is still grieving hard. She's managed to skip out on her annual girls' weekends, but this time, with the help of her sister in law and one of her best friends, Whitney, they get her up and out of the house.
Once getting "away" (which was only an hour away, baby steps, Alexis) she realizes how much she really needed it and begins to slowly feel a little bit better. What she didn't expect, was to run into Garrett McKenna, a "friend" from college. She always thought of him as a friend, even though she had a crush on him, she thought he never did and still doesn't see her as more. She couldn't be farther from the truth.
Alexis is a very strong woman, and refuses to let anyone take care of her, much less take control of her life, but her brother and a few of her friends try very hard to do so, especially when it comes to her love life. Everyone but Alexis can see how much Garrett cares about her.
Garrett is a big country music star, but feels like he is missing something from his life. Deep down, he really doesn't care about the fans and the fame. He just wants to write and sing his music. He wants a family, and bends over backwards trying to prove to Alexis that she is what he truly wants.
My favorite line - "I crazy love you! I crazy miss you! I crazy want to kiss your sweet face!"
And we certainly cannot forget about Sierra. She was only 3 when her daddy died. Now she will soon be 5, and is struggling with not having a daddy. The minute she meets Garrett, she is taken by him, sweetly asking for him to hold her when she is sleepy. She figures it out 4, just how much Garrett loves her mama. This sweet little girl is so amazing, and strong like her mama!
I loved this book. I laughed at the clashing of these 2 hard headed friends. Touched by the best friends taking care of each other, and the overprotective brother too. The characters were well written and very real.
This is a very touching story about loss, and finding not only yourself, but finding love again.
A beautiful debut novel about a love story between two people that brought each other back together after so long. From the Widow Alexia who is suddenly left to solely look after her Daughter. Fate brought a blast from the past back into her life after a Girly weekend away. Enters Garett McKenna. When unimaginable feelings rise that leaves her to believe they are totally wrong to feel, she fights tooth and nail to deny that she can fall in love again. Can she move on after losing her Husband that brought her a comfortable life and Sierra?
A beautiful romance between long lost friends, triggers a new friendship that quickly develops into such a high and low of emotions relationship. From the lows of Self Doubt to the Highs of "Reach for the Sky" New Love. This book left me feeling all wrapped up with a whole lot of love. Its a book that shows that after such a tragic accident of a loved one, fate can bring 2 people together after all.
The characters throughout were great. Though the novel it brought them all together to support Alexis through her tough battle. From the Brother and Sister in Law to the Best Friend that would help at the drop of a hat.
The Sweet little missy Sierra. She honestly broke my heart through parts of the story due to the incident that took place. Especially with Garrett now on the scene, the relationship that these two develop is speechless.
The Ever-So-Romantic Garrett is so dreamy. You could maybe think others believe he is over the top, but hey, his feelings throughout the whole book did it for me. After 10 years of missing out on the love of your life, why not go in guns blazing to win her over.
"Baby, all I want is for you to let me hold you, kiss you, and love you. I want that more than my next breath, it's not a sacrifice, sweetheart ever." ~ Garrett
Combine it altogether and you have a book I adored and loved. Congratulations to Felicia on a fantastic Debut Novel. I look forward to whats to come.
You have Alexis who is a widow with a daughter. She has had a long year and a half. Her girlfriends take her out on a weekend of girl fun. While out at a bar she temps to get up on stage to sing. I say tempt to because she hasn't sung a song in a very long time. Well not in front of a large crowd. She sings to her daughter every night or in the car goofing around. While she works up her nerves and asks the band if they know the song she wants to sing. She bumps into a long time college friend. They haven't spoken in years. However there are still a few sparks that fly.
Garrett a famous country singer is under cover. He needed to relax and escape the every growing crowd of lady fans. He goes to a little bar that looks like fun. He thinks he see's someone from his college days and guess what he sure enough did. We find out that Alexis was the one that got away.
They spend the night talking and re-acquainted. They talk about what they have been up to in the past 10 yrs. Garrett knows about Alexis's husband death. He wanted to read out to her but he was so sure. As they talk they both fight off this growing attraction that has sparked back up since college.
Let me tell you. Garrett is a gentlemen in all ways. He is also an Alpha male. No one messes with his girls, I mean no one.
Alexis tries and comes up with every possible scenario know to man, as to why their relationship wouldn't work. Garrett will not take no for an answer.
I am glad he didn't. He set her straight. He fought for what he wanted and what he walked away from 10 yrs ago. Every time Alexis thought something bad Garrett put 100 good reasons why they fit. Sierra, Alexis daughter loved him from the start. Garrett's parents loved both Sierra and Alexis.
It was a nice sweet, romance. A second chance at love that was lost.
This was such a beautiful book to read. I really enjoyed this book. Don't get me wrong, I am all for a book with a bunch of crazy drama but every once in a while its nice to just read a beautiful love story and this def hit the spot for me!!
My heart broke for Alexis from the start. Her best friend and husband Jed has just died in a plane accident leaving Alexis a widow with their 3 year old daughter Sierra alone. Fast forward 18 months and Alexis goes on a girls getaway with her BFF's from college to St. Petersburg Beach near Tampa where she runs into her college best friend and crush Garrett. (In college, Garrett had a huge crush on Alexis and her him but neither ever said anything. For Garrett, Alexis was "the girl" for him. Garrett ended up going to Nashville Tennessee and hitting it big time, he is now a country music singer.) Garrett is at the same resort because he is suppose to sing in his cousin's wedding. When they bump into each other at a bar one night during open mic night, they reconnect and hit if off from there.
I loved seeing Alexis and Garrett grow together and I loved the relationship between Garrett and Sierra. They were so sweet with each other. The song Garrett and Sierra wrote together was beautiful. I loved the epilogue. Alexis being the overprotective momma bear was so funny but I can completely understand where she is coming from :)
The secondary characters in this book were awesome!! They all showed such great support for Alexis. I kept getting several hints that her best friend Whitney and Garrett's band mate Jon were hooking up and keeping things hush hush so I am hoping that means there will be a book 2 on them!! I would def recommend this book to my friends and family!! <3
Given by the author for an honest review for her Blog Tour
It is one of the sweetest, most beautiful and most magical stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading..
Alexis is such a strong woman..She is a real fighter..Being raised mysef by a single mother,I honestly understand how difficult her life became after that tragedy..Alexis is everything every woman aspires to be..Strong,Independent,surrounded by loyal and fiercely devoted friends and family and finally adored and worshipped by a perfect man..
Garett is such an honorable man..He has loved Alexis, since he met her and never stopped..I always like these stories, because real love is like fate..When it happens,it simply happens..You can't take it back or turn it around..It's just there..
And I loved that loving Alexis and actually being with her changed him..Something really special happned with Garett in this book..Him loving her and wanting her to be happy is what changed his ways..Not herself..He didn't have to alter anything..Simply being with her was enough to make him realise what he's been missing in his life..Well,he knew what he was missing, but he didn't know it was possible for him to have..
This book is really special..It speaks volumes about a persons strength..about a mother's love..And about how a real man treats a woman..With respect and love..It speaks about the meaning of family, not the one created by blood but the one created by the heart..
Love is what makes people family..Blood is just something you may or may not have in common..
It's really close to my heart and I couldn't love it more than I do..
Where do I start with this book. From the moment I started it I just couldn't put it down. It is a well written book about grieving a loved one and finding love when you may not be ready for it. Alexis is just trying to get through every day after a tragedy leaves her a widow and single mom. Garrett is a Nashville star with a southern charm that you can't help but fall in love with.
Will Alexis be able to move forward and try to find the love she has always wanted but doesn't think she can have? Will Garrett be able to show her that no matter what she says and does he will always be with her and love her? After being talked into a girls weekend Alexis runs into her old college friend and crush Garrett Mckenna. Alexis struggles with feeling like she is good enough to be with Garrett and your heart breaks as you read about how she feels. Garrett will do anything to prove that she is his one and only and will do everything he can to prove his love for her and her daughter Sierra. You can't help but fall in love with all the characters in this book. Alexis has a wonderful support system that will do anything to make sure she is happy. Garrett with all his charm and protectiveness will have you loving him more with every page.
This book will have you crying, laughing and wanting more by the time you are done. I know I can't wait for more from this amazing author Felicia Lynn!
A truly heartwarming story that engages many emotions from beginning to end. You will feel yourself feeling sorry for Alexis as she struggles to pull her life together after a tragedy. While trying to keep it together for her young daughter in the process she forgets how to live and enjoy life. Then in comes Garrett a friend from her college years not only is he sexy and charming he has always had a crush on Alexis he just never thought she would be ok with what he had to offer. During this chance meeting he arouses feelings in Alexis that she is both scared of and nervous about. The fact that Garrett is a huge country star with a life style Alexis isn't used to weighs heavily on her mind. She relies a lot on her best friend Whitney to guide her with a shoulder to lean on and some straight up advice. You will feel sorry for Alexis and want to yell at her to get up and take a chance. Garrett will melt your heart with his Southern charm and sweetness, especially when he writes a song that will melt your heart. I loved this book. Felica Lynn made me feel like I was right there rooting for Garrett to get the love that he was always looking for and cheering Alexis on for opening her heart and giving love another try. My heart was definitely tied up in heartstrings. I will be reading more from this wonderful author. Great job Felicia Lynn!!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It has been almost two years since the death of her husband Jed, Alexis was having trouble moving on. Everything in her life revolved around her daughter Sierra. Her group of girlfriends are on her to start going on the girl's weekends again. They aren't taking no for an answer anymore. Spa trip at a local resort did sound good. The first day went by great. At the bar that night after discovering it was open mic night the girls try to talk Alexis into singer. At the least minute she decides to go for it, figuring she could cheer up Kelsey up. Never thinking as she took the stage she would run into her college friend Garrett McKenna. Now a country singer super star. The one man she had the biggest crush on.
This book really drew me in. Lots of emotions. Alexia is afraid to move on. On one hand she wants to honor the memory of her husband and on the other she lives for her daughter. Garrett doesn't want to lost touch with her again. And is willing to do anything to keep her in his life. He is one of the most laid back music stars I have I come across in a book. You can't help but fall in love with him.
If your looking for a romantic book, with hot sex, some drama this is book for you.
This is the first I have read by Felicia Lynn and have to say it was a great book to start of from. Tied Up in Heartstrings is the first in a series that just by reading this one know will pull me at every direction. Alexis is a woman who is starting to learn to live again after the loss of Jed. With him she had everything and now she has to be both mother and father for her little girl. Now have to say little Sierra was a treat to read and her affection for Garrett was so cute. The attraction Alexis has for Garrett is like two soul mates finally finding their way back together. The heartache is there for Alexis but with Garrett she is learning that the life she had can be hers again if she learns to trust herself and feel love again. Felicia Lynn created such a beautiful tale and seeing Garrett give Alexis strength throughout the book just wowed me. Here is a guy who has money, fame, women wanting his attention but when it comes to those two it is just them in his world. Loved it.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
Alexis is dealing with a tragedy and she puts all of her focus on raising her daughter, Sierra. Her friends finally convince her to take a girls weekend trip. She was not expecting to run in to her college friend, Garrett.
Garrett has had feelings for Alexis since they were in college. He left his friends behind in college to chase his dream of becoming a musician. A chance encounter 9 years later bring them to the same place. After spending some time together he quickly realizes he doesn't want to loose connection with her again.
Alexis is having a hard time feeling worthy of anything good in her life and doesn't feel like she fits in with Garrett's musical career. He proves to her that she and Sierra, both, that they are all he wants.
Felicia did a GREAT job on her debut novel and I look forward to reading more from her! I HIGHLY recommend that you read this book!! Garrett is very swoon worthy and he will melt your heart with his songs!!
A beautiful second chance story, I fell in love with right away. Alexis is suffering from the loss of her husband. She's not sure what to do, but she knows she has to stay strong for her daughter who needs her more than ever.
Re entering her life is Garrett. He's always had strong feelings for her that have never faded. But right now, Alexis is in a bad place. Still, he can't help his feelings for her, and he also bonds with her daughter.
I love that Garrett is a singer. I'm a sucker for stories that revolve some around music, and have a singer for a hero or heroine.
An emotional roller coaster, this story took me on a sweet ride. The one down side I may have to say is that I didn't fully feel the emotions of the characters. I didn't feel like I was completely in their heads, which took away from the emotional impact I may normally would have had. Still, it's a story that I enjoyed and would love to read more from this author.
I really wanted to like this book more. The premise was great and the writing was well done. Alexis, however, to me was just like a 5 year old spoiled child. Throughout the entire book she threw tantrums and flat out acted like a child whenever something she didn't like happened. Yes she was not a single parent and she even complained her deceased husband left her and their daughter well off. Garrett had to put up with her rants and plain bat s**t crazy moments a little too much for me. Even her friends and brother had to get her to realize that she needed to quit acting like a child and get herself together. It was a little too much for me. Garrett made this book worth reading. He stated what he wanted and how he felt about her and her daughter as often as he could. He constantly reassured Alexis that he was in this forever. It was good to see him get his hopes and dreams.
Absolutely adored this book by Felicia Lynn!! This book had everything that I look for in a book. It was very well written and the storyline was fantastic. The characters all rocked and had tons if depth and emotion. Alexis...is everything a woman should be. Strong, caring, loving....and kick ass! Garrett is a hot rich Country Superstar...need I say more. I love a book that stays in the present tense but the characters have a history. I love a book that doesn't have a cliffhanger and everything is wrapped up in the end, but the characters could make an appearance in a sequel book about another set of characters in the book(Whit & Jon's story);))). I love a romance book where you don't wait til the end to see the characters get together and have a amazing romance together. Needless to say this book had it all and I look forward to more books by Felicia!!!
I would never have known that this was author Felicia Lynn's debut novel! I was intrigued & captivated from the start! This book will have you all up in your feelings!
Single mom Alexis has had a rough start after losing her husband tragically & raising their daughter alone! She's working on rebuilding herself & her life when fate would take over & she runs into a long lost love, Garrett who just so happens to be a mega country star! Garrett is soooo swoon worthy! I'm telling you I fell hard & fast for this one! He took on the role as daddy & worked hard to win over Alexis again! Don't get me wrong the journey wasn't easy! This book takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions with Gar & Lex!
I loved everything about it! I'm super stoked to be able to read Mending Heartstrings now!
I initially bought this book because I fell in love with the gorgeous lady who wrote it. Im not a big romance freak and though I found it a bit slushy for me, I loved the story and thought it was cleverly written. I felt for the female lead the entire way through, she seriously struggled with moving on and I think we could all identify with that. I have to say though.....a lovely HEA and i thoroughly enjoyed reading the story from both the male and female perspectives. Perfect easy holiday read, imagine sitting on a sun lounger with a cocktail and a lovely view. I gave it five stars because its well written and for pure romantics it is a perfect love story <3 <3 Im off to read this lovely lady' next book x
I'm not quite sure what fits as 'cheesy romance' so I'm not sure if I could call this novel as such. Even as I felt that everything was just over the top with this novel, I wouldn't necessarily call this cheesy. It didn't feel cheesy to me because it wasn't just the romantic feelings but all the other feelings here that I felt was exaggerated. It started with grief which is overwhelming so I could understand that but Alexis' insecurity and fear were also repetitively overwhelming. Garrett's determination of hanging on to this second chance was also declared over and over... I guess what I'm trying to say is that this novel could probably have been edited to be a lot shorter by cutting out all the over the top repetitive feelings & thoughts.
