DRAWN TO YOU (Paloma's edge)

By Robin Shaw

When Bethany's (Beth) mother runs away with a married man and leaves Beth without a home her uncle Anton asks her to come live with him and his family. Anton owns the Paloma hotel and Beth gets a job working there. Beth gets on really well with her cousin Pierce and is drawn towards his friend Chase.

Chase has been a player in the past years but the last 6 month he has been celibate. He is really attracted to Beth and they start dating.

This is a good read and I enjoyed reading it, good sexual chemistry between Beth and Chase.
There is quite a few characters in this story and I would like to find out more about them especially Pierce, I have a soft spot for him and can't wait to read more about him.

It's an easily read romance novel about two people that have problems with their parents not being there for them and finding love with each other.
This being Robin's first book I think she has done a good job writing this.

I am giving Drawn to you 4 stars for Amazon and 4 stars for goodreads.

Thank you to Robin for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Buona lettura guys!

Ringrazio immensamente RABT Book Tours per avermi concesso la straordinaria opportunità di leggere questo libro in cambio della mia opinione.

Wow, what a mess. Drawn to You needs some serious editing help. I can usually just breeze through spelling mistakes and the like, but there were just too many to ignore in this book. There were multiple instances of repeated words in the wrong place such as "with no more energy in left in them". One too many in's. Or sentences that just didn't make sense such as "Who left her a note saying that her an affair trampled their mother-daughter relationship". Or the many many instances where the author did not get me or I or her or she or whatever correct. Like someone stayed with so and so and me, or so and so and I. Almost every single time the author used the incorrect one, and it just sounded so wrong that I was stopped every time. There was a chapter where it was every other paragraph had the wrong me or I usage. It needed serious editing. At first I was highlighting the issues, but there were way too many and it wasted way too much time.

So besides the errors how was the book? Well the writing was still not good. I kept feeling like I missed something. It felt like it jumped around a lot. Like one moment it was just Chase and Beth, the next sentence it says how everyone was doing something. It was quite confusing as I was like wait, did I miss something? Where did everyone else come from? What is going on? It was like that for most of the book. It just didn't make sense. It didn't flow in a logical order. Near the end, with Hunter, this happened again. Beth met up with him once, then he keeps texting her and she isn't really replying to him. Then Pierce, Beth's cousin, confronts her about talking to Hunter and Beth is all we are friends! I was just like wait...since when? Last I read you were angry with him and ignoring him. Now you are friends? Did I miss something?

So then on to the characters. How were they? Not good. I didn't understand a single one of them. The writing was off. Something was off in the writing. Once Beth saw Cassidy, her other cousin, as she is she thought:

"Seeing Cassidy for who she really was engendered strong dislike and a feeling of loss in me."

That was so calm and just didn't sit right with me. Cassidy had been trying to break up you and Chase, make you think Chase was sleeping with her, and you have a feeling of strong dislike for her. Okay. It just, the feelings conveyed by the characters didn't seem realistic. There was also a lot of internal thoughts, not so much talking or anything and I just didn't like it.

Then near the end again **small spoiler I suppose** when Beth meets up with Hunter and finds out Hunter is Chase's twin brother Beth is so upset because Chase lied to her! I am not sure how he lied, he told her he had a brother he doesn't talk to, but wouldn't go into details. He does have a brother he doesn't talk to, but he happens to be a twin brother. Still a brother so...you are really just hurt he hasn't confided in you his past. He never lied. So things like that annoyed me. At least get it right.

Overall not a good book. The story is not good, the writing is not good, the spelling and grammar errors are too numerous to just discard, and the characters are not believable. I think the only reason I finished the book is because I kept feeling like I was missing something and thought maybe I would get it figured out by the end. I didn't really.

I'm giving this 3 stars because I enjoyed the story ....

BUT ....

I had a hard time reading it through - The type-o's I can over look - I don't pay much attention to those - but the author skipped around a lot - for example, Chase walked over and grabbed Beth's hand, they walked on the beach - their looks got intense and he says "I want to kiss you"... among other things - next paragraph says they all came out of the water (They all meaning Rylan, Joel, Chase, Beth and Bri) I am sure that's supposed to have a little *** for a new location/setting thing - but it happens a LOT in this book, and it feels like it's jumping around.

There is also a few spots where it's hard to tell who is talking. I've had to go back a few paragraphs to figure it out -

BUT I REALLY DID like the story - and that's what I'm going to focus on for the review -

Beth comes home from college for the summer to an empty house. Her mom left her a note saying she went to follow her heart - what she didn't tell her, was that she was 3 months late on the house payment and she was about the lose the only house she grew up in.
Cindy (Beth's mom) has a history of looking for love in all the wrong places , giving Beth the bad reputation in school just for being her daughter.

But when Beth gets word that her Uncle misses her and wants her to come spend the summer with her, Beth doesn't have much of a choice. She always loved her Uncle, and missed him as well.
She wasn't going to live with him for free though. She planned on working all summer at his hotel.

Chase - a great guy! Trying to do right by keeping his nose out of trouble. It's been 5 months since he stopped playing playing girls, and working hard - he intended to keep his scholarship at UM and keeping his head on straight.

Pierce met Chase at college, and had invited Chase into his home for the summer. Chase was a positive influence on Pierce, and his dad really liked Chase. So he offered him a job at his hotel and a place to stay in his home.

On Chase's day off, Pierce asked Chase for a huge favor. He was up late with his girlfriend and couldn't drive the 2 hours to pick up his cousin.

Chase was the type of guy that would do anything for a friend, so grumbling along the way, he still did it.

And when Chase saw who he was picking up, he recognized her right away (read the blurb about the bus stop :) )
He thought he'd never see her again, but was happy to be spending the summer with her.

Beth was quiet and reserved - and when they stopped for gas, a few ladies recognized her a Cindy's daughter, giving her looks and whispering behind their hands. Chase didn't understand why these women were acting so Juvenal.

The relationship picked up pretty quickly. I don't really like guys that come on really strong when they first meet a girl , but these two seemed to both know what they wanted. So it worked for them. I was a little put off by how forward Chase was, and how easily Beth took it, considering she didn't want to act like her mother in any way. But like I said, they both knew what they wanted, so why fight it, right :)

It was a cute story - it had a lot of potential :)

Bethany Pruitt had an unusual relationship with her mother. It doesn't matter what other people thought about her mother or her - or how they would judge her base on her mother's actions. They were okay - or at least she thought until she arrived home from college to Franklin Parks for the summer to find the only home she has to be motherless and literally wiped out. Her mother had left her to follow her heart!!! A blessing in disguise came when her uncle sent out an invitation for her to stay at Paloma's Edge in Florida.

Chase Lovell already caught a glimpse of the beautiful woman his friend sent him out to pick up. When he does to see his coach for a meeting, a girl caught his attention at the end of a bus line - he missed his chance in meeting her that time. But looks like fate is on his side and is giving him another chance. There's some problems though - he's Pierce's cousin, and his friend might not agree on what's running on his mind. Not to mention Cassidy is after him - she'd do anything to get into his pants, even lie and cost him the chance that he craved from Beth. And lastly, there's his past - a past he wanted to forget and is catching up to him.

Sexual Chemistry has never been that frustrating like what is sizzling between these two. Chase has been celibate for quite a while and he wasn't in a rush to sleep with Beth. He bid his time, build the tension and finally when they did it - fireworks were all over the place.

We are introduced to a lot of characters in Drawn to You, and I have grown fond with some of them, especially with Jake, Mariska and of course Pierce. I couldn't wait to read their installments.

In Drawn to You, both characters have problem with their families. I couldn't imagine growing up with parents like theirs because luckily, despite the imperfections and all - my parents gave me all the love and support I need. Growing up with a mother who thinks about herself more than you, or parents who throws you out of the house because you did something stupid (well, very stupid) is just very hard and might f***ed up a lot of people. I'm glad these two found love and security with each other.

I Liked It

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. This story revolves around Bethany (Beth) and Chase. Bethany goes home for summer break, to find her mom has left. She ends up moving in with her aunt and uncle and working at her uncles hotel. She meets Chase and sparks fly, but both of them have trouble figuring it out, but once they do, WOW.

This story has mystery, heartbreak, and great characters. Some characters you will hate right off the bat, and others you will love. I wasn’t at first sure how I felt about Chase, but as the story progressed I fell in love with him. Bethany seemed kind of whiney and poor me, but as I read, I really started to like her too.

The sexual tension in this book is crazy and when it finally happens, WOW! I wish they would have gotten to it sooner ;)

The story does have some slow parts, but after finishing the story, they didn’t seem slow, but more of story building for the entire story to fit together. I am not sure how I feel about Bethany’s best friend Jake, something is up with him, or maybe I’m reading him wrong, but I hope we get his story in this series. Cindy, Bethany’s mom needs a to be taught how to be a parent, and that the world does not revolve around her, and I’m glad Bethany is nothing like her mother, or I would have stopped reading this book.

Once you hear Chase’s story about his past, you will cry, and feel horrible for him, but he didn’t let his past wreck him, and became a better person, and someone any girl, not just Bethany would love.

This was a quick read for me, and a perfect summer read for lounging by the pool. It has everything a good story needs! Great writing, great storyline, mystery, sex, and hot guys! I am glad I read this book and am looking forward to the rest of this series, and any other books by Robin Shaw.

3 - 3.5 Stars in my Sky!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

Beth returns home for her summer break, to find her irresponsible mother Cindi has left town without paying the rent or renewing the lease. Quite literally homeless, Beth ends up staying with her rich Uncle, Aunt and cousins in Paloma's Edge, Florida. She insists on paying her way by working at their posh hotel. Her cousin Pierce's friend Chase is also staying with the family and working at the hotel. Beth and Chase have an instant connection and begin dating.

Beth has always been tainted by her mother's reputation and is wary of being used by men; she requires honesty and doesn't like secrets. Chase is running from a past he'd rather forget and has a lot of secrets. There are a lot of misunderstandings in Drawn To You, many of which could have been avoided if Beth and Chase had been more open with each other.

The secondary characters are an interesting mix; most of the guys are rich party boys, but I found them interesting and really liked Pierce. Beth's friend Jake seemed to be far more interested in Beth than as a friend (I'll leave it to you to read what happens there) and I really like Bri and her brother Gavin.

I'm in two minds about Drawn To You because I liked Beth and Chase, but felt their story seemed a bit rushed. Also there are a lot of typo's/grammatical errors; some sections need a bit of an edit so they make more sense. I also felt Beth and Chase became really intense, really quickly and I would have liked to see their relationship build a bit more.

There are a lot of naughty sections in the book, so I wouldn't recommend it for younger readers. I did find myself rooting for Beth and Chase (I wanted to smack Cassidy) and really wanted them to work things out together.

What a book. And I don't mean that in a positive way. This book was So full of writing mistakes, misspellings etc. I don't know where to start
Half the time I didn't know who said what, and then a name appeared and was supposed to have said something, but it wasn't that person it was someone else. And with every error I had to use time to get the right meaning.
There weren't an easy flow to the story and all these error made it difficult to maintain a love/patience for the story.
I might give the next book a try, but if it's filled with these errors then I'm not sure it will be worth it.
There weren't too much dialog, but more what chase and Beth were thinking, and that was also a downside about this book

The story wasn't original because it was the same as every other story, I was missing something.....

The book was free and I would never pay for the second book until I know for sure that the editing has improved

Ok I really did enjoy reading this book and I totally fell in love with the characters. I was very much interested in watching Chase's & Beth's story unfold but I found it a little hard to follow sometimes. One minute they aren't even talking to each other and then the next they are pressed up against a wall or sneaking off. I was like what. Sometimes there was no build up things just BAM happened and I didn't totally follow. Sorry but I really did love the story. I especially loved all the side characters they were awesome. I loved how the entire group was really represented and I felt like part of their group. I felt involved and I loved that. Although it was a HEA it seemed like a quick ending. Like where's the epilogue I felt a little slitted but I was super happy there was another book to come. I know I only gave 3 stars but it really was a great read and I would recommend it.

Another contemporary new adult with cliched characters and situations. Sweet girl next door meets sexy bad boy with a past. Not to be rude to the author or anything, but I have read tons of books with this same exact plot and same exact characters this year. I couldn't enjoy the story at all because I found nothing original about it.

Wow, just wow. This is the first book I've read in a little while and I flipping loved it, though I'm not as fast at reading now as I was a couple months ago. I love all the characters, the plot, every thing. Definitely worth all 5*s
