Scarlett Harper is a down to earth, country girl who possesses many beautiful qualities, but her insecurities hold her back from showing them. Her existence consists of being mentally and physically abused by her unfit mother and unknowingly spending most days with a no good, trifling best friend. Her life seems to be on a repeated cycle of crazy misfortunes and sad uncertainties when it comes down to finding genuine love. However, good deeds from an older lady gives Scarlett a new lease on life and finally romance is on the rise, until her scarred past comes back to haunt her. Now, with skeletons creeping out of the closet left and right, can a new improved Scarlett stand the storm or will she be on the verge of losing it?
From the very first three chapters, I knew this was going to be a book I wasn't going to put down. I read this title in less than 4 hours and it was definitely worth putting everything on hold to read! Tiece did a great job writing this book. It flowed well, the characters were well-developed, and I could really relate to the storyline. Of all the characters, and aside from Scarlett, I have to say Gwen was my favorite. I mean really, she had me dying this whole book. I definitely recommend this to everyone! I'm starting on part two ASAP!!
I picked up the book this afternoon and finished it tonight...read in less than a day. It was a good read. The author kept me interested, and had me thinking about it when I stopped reading to do stuff. This is a rare find for a book critic like me. And then...Tiece left me hanging, at the end, and I didn't even see the end coming. I hope there is a sequel.
Rating: 5 Stars
Recommendation: If you want a good, quick, read, then get the book.
Wow!!! Scarlett held on too way too much! She let what others said get to her and never thought to attempt to make a change. I couldn't believe the things her strung out momma took her through. That chick needed some serious help and played on the fact that she knew Anton held a soft for her. Sheila was truly working my nerves with the way she constantly acted. Like chick get a life already!!! Finally Scarlett was ready to make a few changes and Joan was truly a lifesaver. She saw the fact that Scarlett was in need and didn't hesitate to offer her things to help with her transformation. I clearly don't understand why Sheila acts the way she does and can't wait for Scarlett to beat her ass. Ugh Jay!!!! Dude wasn't checking her when she wasn't caring how she looked but as soon as she started making changes he wanted a chance. Typical dude!!! Him and Sheila went well together with their trifling behinds. Oooohhh I liked Luke!!! He seemed to want to really give him and Scarlett a chance and he showed her what it felt like to be wanted. Nina proved to be a real friend and was always there to uplift Scarlett. Now it's time for part 2. Does Faye really have something on Scarlett, what is Mrs. Grands problem with Scarlett, will Gwen ever get right, how will Scarlett handle Sheila, and will the things from her past hurt her before she gets the chance to tell Luke?!
I've held this book for the longest and I really don't know why. I am now very much upset with myself for letting it sit on my kindle since last year. This story was very intriguing from the beginning. It was a very fast setting. Scarlett was a very insecure female at first, and then she finally found her inner beauty, but her friend Shelia began to hate her after she began to find herself, Shelia was a stab you in the back kind of friend. She is the one that if she had the chance she would ruin you in a heart beat. Jay was you typical run of the mill player. I wished he would have been more of a help to Scarlett and then they could have been together, but he chooses not to. Then their is Luke I think that he is a better catch for of Scarlett. I think this because this is his first time seeing her and her beauty within itself. So therefore she shouldn't doubt why do he really like her. Now I'm onto book 2. I hope that it holds my like this one.
Scarlett is hiding behind scars from long ago, an abusive mother, a brother who she clearly loves, and friends who are really backstabbers. Along comes love and the sparks begin to fly.
Tiece’s “Scarlett” is one of those novels that grabs you from the beginning and leaves you anticipating what will happen next. This author delves into how jealousy and deceit can really cause problems in families and friendships. Poor Scarlett never thought she was good enough and used her only asset, her body, to attract men.
Of course your past always has a way of catching up to you and the author shows you true friendship. Along the way there were a few errors grammatically, but overall the book was very well written and fast paced. I finished it in one day and I look forward to the sequel.
3.75 Good story, some typos but otherwise juicy. Scarlett is a really cool girl with self-esteem issues. The people closest to her are revealed as the snake charmers they truly are. Sheila is a vile and despicable person. She pretends to be something that she really isn't with Scarlett and treats her as if she is below her station in life. Gwen is sad and mean at the same time.
Story ended abruptly but I guess it's so we can get into the sequels, lol.
This is the type of writing that makes a book a great read! Scarlett's past life was a mess. There were times when I felt sad for Scarlett hoping that good would come to her. Although I could choke Gwen, I can truly say Joan & Luke were lifesavers. Unfortunately, just when things started going well for Scarlett, along came Faye & April. I'm sure part 2 will be just as dramatic & I'm looking forward to reading it!
I was hesitant about purchasing this book but being that Tiece lays it down in her books I couldn't resist and I'm glad I did as with her other books she has done it again. Just finished this one and definitely purchasing part 2 to ride wit Scarlett I hope things get even better instead of worse. Tiece keep doing ur thing with these books.
SO GOOD! I LOVED this book. It touched on the way a lot of females see themselves. Very true to life. I'm glad that things are starting to look up for Scarlett. Can't stand Shelia! Love Nina because she is a true friend. Can't wait to read Scarlett 2 so I can see what happens next.
Omg this was such a great book you go Tiece you did your thang on this one. Once you get started you really can not stop reading. Can you say haters up in here. Well I'm on to book two if you have not read this you must. So Enjoyable real life story.
I'm happy to Scarlett finally finding herself. Sheila is that one friend who smiles in your face is and is a snake behind your back. On to part two, I can't wait to see how Scarlett's pasts comes back for her, hoping for the best!
I actually love the story line, I just wish everything wasn't abt money in this book.I'm glad the main character is not a pushover though. I just hope the author don't make her into a money hungry chick. Keep in with her own mind and honest. Guess I will see what happens.
this had the potential but the ending just dropped off and ended. I guess this was a short story but it wasn't very good. I probably will read part 2 just to see how it ends.
This book is something I suggest to all insecure and hurting women. Tiece brought out a woman's worst and showed that they could be turned around. This was a great book.
