I misspoke when I said this was erotica.

I mean, it is, but not so much sexual as psychological.

Psychoerotic smut. Good lord in heaven.

Structurally and thematically, it's a brilliant bit of sleight-of-hand.

The colonic irrigation bit pulled me out of the story and killed my boner—I know of what I speak: it's not sexy—but just when I thought I was going to be free of this absurdly compelling little story, the understanding of just what I'd been reading blooms in my head, right before a smoking-hot fuck-vignette rather precluded two-handed reading.

Onward.

And I've broken off completely from the character.

I wasn't comfortable with the psychological manipulation Archer played. I almost physically balked when I heard Daniel call him "daddy" while he was being raped. Yes, I believe he was raped because there wasn't anything in what Daniel went through to prove to me it was consensual. Nor did I sense any shift in Daniel's behaviour. Having him say he started to enjoy it, without really understanding why that was, pulled me away from him.

I don't think I'll be continuing this series.
