A princess gone rogue.
A queen thirsting for blood.
A world hanging in the balance.

Wise goddess Dimity could not be more different from her fiery sister, Jedda, so it comes as no surprise that neither can agree on what should be done with the fate of planet Earth. While Jedda opts for nixing the planet altogether, Dimity believes that if given more time, goodness will prevail and the Earthlings will stand a chance of joining the Alliance. To prove how devoted they are to their beliefs, Jedda and Dimity agree to a crafty Their father, Lazarus, permits the goddesses to spend a mortal lifetime on medieval Earth, after which they can decide whether they still stand by their initial judgment. But in a kingdom full of truth and deceit, it isn’t long before the two deities find themselves in a vicious battle for control. ⭐ 4.5/5

🔮 I got to read this back in May as an ARC. Solid debut from an indie author. I recommend it if you like:
• A wide cast of characters
• Plot-forward stories with interwoven character arcs.
• A vivid, immersive world with lots of lore underneath.
• Sibling rivalry.
• Gods, goddesses, and magic.
• Charismatic villains, that you can't help but sort of root for.

🌊 Good Stuff:
• We get to see all sorts of different perspectives of the story, and how they weave together.
• There's a level of "who's who" that unravels in the first half of the story and is a lot of fun to try to parse out.
• The worldbuilding is just very vast (I love an intense world.)
• I just really love the villains in this, to the point that I almost don't want them to fail. They're a ton of fun, and I especially love seeing them interact.
• The story/action really picks up around the second act and that momentum carries through to the end of the book.

👑 What stopped it from being a perfect 5-stars?
• All the A names for the royal family could be a little confusing at times. The nicknames definitely helped, though!
• Especially in regards to the romance, I wish there was more subtle showing of the chemistry. I love Dria's romance, but I actually kinda ship Anna with someone who I don't think is going to be her love interest because of this. It also makes me distrust some of the characters, but maybe that was intentional? Regardless, I'm a slow burn sort of girl though, so maybe that's just me.

🐎 Other considerations:
• There are tons of different character perspectives in this story, which makes it more plot driven than I personally prefer. This isn't anything wrong with the story, though, and it won't stop me from reading the next one.
• Labeled YA, but straddles the line of clean NA. No smut, but some spice. Early adulthood themes, most MCs are at the "college" transition age.
• Honestly just the large breadth of characters and places (like I said, intense worldbuilding) can be just a tiny bit heavy and confusing at times and required me to go back and confirm names/titles/associations a few times. Definitely intermediate fantasy in that way, notes or a wiki on the website might be helpful.

At first I had quite a hard time connecting with the characters and getting into the story, but at some point I managed to understand who is who and what was actually going on, and from that point the story become so much more interesting for me.

I liked the main idea of the book (gods go on Earth to see if it's worthy enough to be part of their alliance) and I even liked the fact that they don't remember who they are or that they have powers, but I would have liked to have a clearer image of who is who and not try to guess or find in the 2nd half of the book, because it got really confusing at some point.

I eventually enjoyed the story and I wanted to read the 2nd book, but it took me a bit to much to get to that point.

I enjoyed this debut novel! A larger cast of characters made it a little intense in the beginning until I was consistently remembering who was who. Lots of twists and turns and that ending!! Makes you want to jump right into book 2 (coming in October 24). The world building felt seamless as you were reading, no problem jumping right into it. I found some of the phrasing a bit repetitive, as in using the same words for one of the main characters instead of her name, but it was over and over again. I can't say without it being a spoiler review! Overall, I highly recommend this book if you like multiple POVs, fantasies, and different worlds.

Very good story that really kept your interest. Lots of characters to keep track of. I actually needed to turn back a few times to figure who was who! But besides that, it was great!!
