Renowned international soccer player and businessman Carlos Rodriguez invites shop girl Sarah Daykin to dinner after a chance meeting. She knows he is dangerous and out of her league, but how can she refuse? She is new to the city and came looking for excitement and adventure, she would only regret not going.
Before she knows what has happened, the naïve young Sarah is completely at Carlos's mercy and agrees to be his temporary mistress for the month leading up to Christmas. But can an unexpected gift turn this casual relationship into something more permanent?
I'm like almost one hundred percent sure that I've either read this novel before, read a similar novel or I am so sleep deprived, everything blends together. It was like Deja Vu through the whole novel but I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this book. It's not real long but the story is great. It is the story of Carlos and Sarah. They come from two different backgrounds and they are tempted with each other. Sarah falls for Carlos but he only wants his fun. It is a good read '
I never felt the H's love. And his apology and confession of love at the end just wasn't enough for me to redeem this H from his casual treatment of h through most of the book.
Sarah meets Carlos at her fragrance counter & he asks her to dinner. She flip flops & finally goes. They wind up in bed & the story goes from there.
Carlos is a football player originally from Madrid. He's rich & famous & has sever hang ups about women always wanting him for his money & power. Sarah is a young (12 years younger than carlos) 20 year old virgin from the country. She's in the city to work for the holiday season, sharing a flat with roommates from school.
I never liked Carlos, I didn't find him arrogant as portrayed, but really an ass. It went beyond arrogance. He had women hang ups & Sarah just fell right in bed with him. She just couldn't say no. It would have been much better if she held out. I never saw what she saw in him. The story didn't convince me. If it wasn't a steamy romance, I would say it read almost like a YA book… All the teenaged angst & the inability to resist someone.
Now… It wasn't bad! I never put it down & read straight thru. It was a good story, but I never loved the characters. I definitely did not like Carlos, so his character was portrayed very well.
It is an HEA, but the turmoil went through to the very end. THEN Carlos got it! Finally!
This book is about Sarah a young girl of twenty who lives in Keswick but is working a temporary job in a department store in Manchester leading up to Christmas, there she meets Carlos a famous and wealthy footballer and business man. This is the story of their relationship, now Sarah is a lovely, sweet, honest girl and Carlos is confident, selfish, insensitive, self absorbed the list goes on, yes he's been hurt in the past as a result he's closed off his heart but even knowing this I struggled to like him, I understand why she's attracted to him he's so much more than she's ever come across before and she's swept off her feet but the longer the book went on the more I wanted her to just tell him to get lost. This being a romance she has an effect on him and we see him soften but is it too little too late, I just felt this book lacked any real chemistry but it's a very quick easy read and it's free.
I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was sweet how they met at the perfume counter where Sarah worked. Carolos had been hurt before, and always kept his heart protected, keeping his feeling guarded. He thought all women were gold diggers. Sarah proved him wrong. She was also able to break through his defenses, and find her way into his heart. There was a few times the two walked away from one another, thinking they would never see each other again. Something always managed to bring them together again. It was fate!
Carlos seemed to have some serious issues. One minute he was nice then another very mean to Sarah. Sometimes I didn't know if he was coming on going. All and all this was a pretty good read.
I had a hard time getting into this one, made it to Chapter 2. I skipped to the end only not to see how either of them were in love with each other which I could not tell.
