"Killing the Dead" is a lovely little fantasy of gory zombie death and dismemberment, featuring a 14-year-old English kid's first person perspective on surviving the ZA. Ralph gets to kills his parents, put his ol' pa in the wood chipper. He encounters fast zombies (Movers), slow zombies (Shakers), dwarf zombies, cheerleader zombies. There's even a circus lion and a strange little psychic girl. With this menagerie of characters, the zombie gory comes fast and furious - and our intrepid little teenager hardly ever misses. In fact, I think there's a scene where he takes out two zombies eyes with one crossbow. Better than the arcade!
I love the zombie genre, and I have read many, many stories therein. This one started off as your typical zombie book, then toward the end took off in a strange, yet very interesting, direction! I thoroughly enjoyed this and I hope there is a sequel in the works.
