Starting with a heads up for potential readers. While Part 1 of Tibetan Sea Flower is officially published, Part 2 has only been posted on the official DMBJ website. Part 2, therefore, is lacking in editing that truly would have benefited the story. Furthermore, this series is INCOMPLETE and has not been updated by the author in years. It ends on a cliffhanger and given the author's history, I think it's quite unlikely we'll ever be given a conclusive ending to Tibetan Sea Flower. This is incredibly unfortunate as the author set up many things that I was excited to see come to fruition.

This story does deliver some peak PangXie interactions! These two best friends love to take the piss out of each other but would also do anything for one another and it's more evident than ever here. Absolutely love their scenes together. Pangzi's loyalty, reliability, and intelligence really shines. Unfortunately, his pervy and condescending attitude towards women does too.

This author really hates women, huh? They're consistently seen as weak, otherworldly in their thinking and therefore something to be protected and fawned over OR too aggressive and strong willed to be considered anything more than something nice to look at and condescend to when the men around them are inevitably proven to be more adept. THANKFULLY, the author rarely even bothers to include women in these stories. If I had to put up with this shit consistently, I don't think I'd have made it so far in this series.

Another consistent issue with this author is his use of side characters. Or rather, his lack of use. All too often we'll be introduced to a side character but then the author seems to forget their existence entirely and only remembers to include them in the story again when it's plot relevant. It's quite confusing.

As for Wu Xie! Our baby is starting to grow up and have confidence in his abilities and judgement. While he still has a long way to go, Wu Xie is less likely to just follow along with what everyone says, he has his own opinions and motives and no longer caves to the slightest pressure from outside forces. & thank FUCK for that because the people around Wu Xie really put him through HELL. I don't know how this guy still trusts others and genuinely wishes the best for everyone in spite of how their actions affect his well being. I want to punch so many people on his behalf. You can definitely see his innocence starting to fade as this story progress, though, and it's interesting to see Wu Xie wrestle with that.

Old faces pop up and we finally meet the Zhang Family...and I'll let anyone reading form their own opinions about them. At the very least, their introduction leads to Wu Xie learning more about the mysteries of the main series and Xiao Ge's past which was heart wrenching.

The pacing is all over the place. There are chapters upon chapters dragged down by retellings of past events. While these flashbacks are important for the story and characters, the author expands too much on unnecessary details. Of particular note is the authors continued in depth explanations of the mechanisms of various tombs. To add insult to injury, there was a moment in this book where I FINALLY became curious and wanted to know how the fuck a particular tomb functioned BUT THEN THE AUTHOR REFUSES TO TELL US!!! It was infuriating and I am adamant that this is because he wrote himself into a corner and had no clever answer for this conundrum of his own creation. When we're in the present and Wu Xie is on the move, however, it's great! So interesting and non-stop fun. I can barely stop reading!

Look. These books are FAR from perfect and I obviously have many issues with this author and his writing. What I LOVE are these characters, their relationships, and the adventures they have together. Somehow all of that manages to overshadow the writer's shortcomings. Just like the drama adaptations, I can look at this story and blatantly see all of the ways that it's lacking....but it's still just so enthralling that I can't put the damn books down!

I want to give this 5 stars and then i want to give it 1 star, because it's so fucking frustrating oh my god! (This review is for the book part 1 and the web-novel part 2)

5 Stars because it's really, really interesting even tho Pokerface is not with the team (because he's still behind the Changbai Mountain Bronze Gate), but the book is full of Pokerfaces history, Zhang-family history (even tho a bit too much) and the two graves are so damn cool, like BOI that was a wild ride (except the way too much mention of shit and diarreah but... okay i guess). But still. It's so full of tension and action and hnhnhn.

And ten 1 star BECAUSE THE STORY STOPS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A FUCKING SCENE. It's like the Lord of the Rings would stop when Sam is running to Frodo on Mount Doom and then it just stops right smack in the middle of that description. They finally found something interesting about the Bronze Gates and what exactly is (maybe probably) behind it and what its use is, and then he just fucking stops. It's infurating.

And whats even WORSE - especially for a hardcore fujoshi, who ships the Iron Triangle - . why? WHY? WHYYYY???? *incoherent screeching*.

The part, that was released on the Daomu Biji website was last updated 2015 so... we probably will never know how the Tibetan Sea Flower actually end or what exactly is the purpose of the Gate and what else Wu Xie and Fatty found in the Himalaya.... but the whole ride to this aprubt end was so damn good that I still give 5 stars.

*goes sobbing in corner*

这本书写在盗墓笔记之后,同时写了盗墓笔记的前传和后传,笔力和构思更胜前作,可惜写了个开头,随着三叔的身体问题,戛然而止了。希望三叔早日康复,写不写都没关系。

I knew it's unfinished book but still I cant resist the temptation to keep on read this saga!
Well at least in this book I got the answer who's Wu Xie's dopplengger which left unrevealed in the main story.
Also I got glimpse of Zhang Qilin's childhood and his old days before he met Wu Xie.
Little Zhang Qilin was sad and lonely I kinda want to hug him and protect him, no wonder he treasured his connection with Wu Xie and Fatty Wang in later days.

Lastly, dear author please pick up your pen and finish what you've started!

This book is incomplete, and it seems like the author won't be finishing it. It did have a hilarious bit in chapter 70-something, though!
Fatty: I leave for FIVE MINUTES, and you get attacked by both a traitorous "team member" in addition to a giant monster. Wtf. This happens every time.
Wu Xie: it's not my fault! If I left you alone this would definitely happen to you too!
Fatty: No, it's literally just you. We could film an amazing zombie movie without special effects just by having you walk into a tomb and turn around.
Wu Xie: 🥲

Good book

I liked the story but there’s a no ending and there should be a sequel to the book, so that was a bummer.

I hesitate on the number of stars here... there was plenty of action and I was glad to learn a bit more about the Zhang but seeing where it goes, was it real information or just more lies?

And truly? Poor Wu Xie, I believe his "naïve" side was literally crushed in this book so he might become more ruthless in the future. Sad, so sad, I love naïve , trusting Wu Xie...

And the ending? Really?!? I could scream right now... grrrr...

The interaction between Wu Xie and Fatty is great though, which is a good point.

LOL "...We didn’t know if the giant boulder from above had also fallen down. If it did, then there wasn’t anything we could do in a few seconds time. We’d probably be reincarnated as pancakes."

Arrggghhhh reading these books is like jumping down a deep hole that won't be filled any time soon...it just gets deeper and deeper and the mystery so convoluted, when the hell can we get to the truth?! Why am I torturing myself by jumping into this? But I can't...stop...reading...!

南派三叔 is a fricking 坑爹。。。 how could he abandon his writing career?! Teh series is not finished!! Le sigh... hope he'll pick up the damn pen and start writing again soon.... I hate it when a mystery is unsolved!!!

Another pit that the author needs to fill, these cliff hangers are killing me.

I was emotional when he saw a stone statue of Xiao Ge in that temple, he was already missing him so much and that statue let him see his face again.
