Troy: The Whole Shebang

Rate this book
The complete collection of "Troy" comics. Set in a slightly fictional version of West Hollywood, CA., quite possibly the gayest, little city in North America, “Troy” follows the everyday trials and tribulations of Troy, a “typical,” young, urban, gay guy. The themes, however, are universal enough for anyone who's ever felt friendship, love, infatuation, lust, jealousy, or gone through a bitter and painful break-up at the hands of a psychotic ex can understand. The tone is, at times, rather sarcastic! One of the longest running, regularly published, gay comics, "Troy" ran from 1998 to 2012 in numerous LGBT publications and websites throughout the world. All 301 strips (plus one new one) are included here on 160 pages of full color.

I am a great fan of comics and graphic novels and I thoroughly enjoyed this book which collects all the Troy comic strips in one excellent volume. This fabulous set of comic strips follows the life and loves of Troy who is a young gay man and wanna be actor. By the end of book we have been with Troy through so many adventures: cheesy jobs, glamorous jobs, great relationships, ghastly experiences, a few near misses, friends, family, politics, religion and love - indeed the whole shebang as the title suggests.

The graphics in this book are really good - colourful and clear, and brilliantly conveying the emotions of the characters. The stories are easy to follow with lots of fun and humour as well as serious sides to life, all wrapped up in a brilliant HEA finale!! When I came to the end I felt a real sense of loss. I am glad there is a website to follow and a first animation episode. The next step for a great comic is to see it brought to life and I am looking forward to when this happens.
