Need experience in the sack? Why not place an ad in the paper!! That's pretty much what Greg's best friend decides to do, to help her friend out. Greg is bisexual, but has never truly been with another man. Though angry with the ad at first, Greg decides to give it a try. And is surprised and nervous when he receives a reply from his neighbor down the hall.
Smexy and cute read...would have been fabulous had it been longer!
1/10 - Well, that was a sexy little book to read over breakfast.
By the way, I've found my favourite use for my new Kindle Voyage - reading with it while eating because it's hands-free, usually I struggle to find an object heavy enough to hold my paperback open without me having to hold it. I've tried salt shakers, pepper grinders, tv remotes, hairbrushes, and glasses cases; sometimes I simply have to cry defeat and give up on the dream of peacefully eating my poached egg on toast while I read a book with the sun streaming in the window behind me. My Voyage is a revelation in breakfast reading, the ultimate in hands free thanks to the specially designed origami cover that is magnetic and folds into a book stand in seconds. Thanks to hands free reading I've read a short book every morning this week (I'm really catching up on this year's reading challenge).
Anyway, back to this book. Another surprise, in a good way. As usual there were a few editing mistakes, but they weren't drastically distracting.
Location 319 'Greg usually did the cooking in their unit, since Rachel only mastered canned soup and cereal.' There needs to be a had between Rachel and only.
Location 384 '...and his d**k went flax in his mouth.' I hope (and I'm sure Jack does, too) that his penis didn't go flax at any time, it sounds like it would be painful and possibly embarrassing.
Location 404 'He could smell something Italian lofting into the hallway...' When I highlighted lofting on my Kindle the definition came up as "the work carried out by a loftsman". I don't think that's what Lee was going for. I think maybe she meant wafting.
Location 413 '"I'm an accountant." Jack threw his head back and laughed. "Should have known. Between the casual dress clothes and that little look you get, like you're trying to solve something, it should've been obvious."' I'm sorry but, that's a ridiculous cliché. You can't tell what job a person does by the way they dress or a 'look' they get. So, medical researchers and journalists don't get looks like they're trying to solve a puzzle? And baristas and civil engineers don't wear casual dress to work? I just think that 'deduction' was silly and an unnecessary comment from Jack.
I wish this had been a bit longer. I really liked Greg and Jack, and Rachel. I especially wanted to see more of Rachel and Greg's relationship and thought, if the book had been longer, Greg could have gone on a few dreadful dates before finding Jack. Would definitely read more of Lee's work, hopefully in a longer format if it's available.
Nice narrative about Greg's desire to explore the gay side of his bi nature. Lucky Jack's across the hall, hot and bothered (by Greg) to make an offer.
We all know that these two boys want more than sex, but it's fun watching them use sex to avoid discussions.
This short story was well written but it has zero plot and minimal romance. For some reason I was expecting this to be funny (because of the description), but that is not so much the case. It was not bad... Just very far from what I had in mind. The ending was pretty cute, though.
Picture a bisexual man whose best friend picks a potential partner for him. Not just any partner, mind you, but a male one to get "some experience". And she does this not by introducing you to him, but by placing an ad in the personal section. A very explicit ad, asking for test results and pictures. I have a hard time dealing with the concept, but Greg, one of the main characters in this very entertaining story, faces exactly that situation. Needless to say, he is not amused…at least initially. And later on? Well, amused is not really the word that comes to mind either!
Greg, an accountant, has always been with women, except for one experience in a closet (Yes, really!) in college. He is desperately curious what it would be like to be with a man, but the opportunity just never seems to be there. Three years after his fiancée broke off their engagement, his friend Rachel thinks it is time, and Greg, while resistant, has to admit he agrees with her. What follows is in turns hilarious and very touching. When Greg finally manages to walk across the hall to meet with his neighbor, the only promising reply to the ad, he is both nervous and excited, and both warring emotions came across very clearly so I was able to "feel with him" as he dove into the new world of gay love.
Jack is an EMT and the need to help seems to be part of his hardware. That same need may have gotten him into offering his help for Greg, but it's not the dominant emotion for very long. He's not always been very lucky with lovers, and he is determined to make Greg's experience better. He is just the guy to do it too: sensitive, gentle, and genuinely attracted to Greg from the start. Unsurprisingly, he soon wants more than a limited physical relationship, but has no idea how to make a real relationship work.
If you like stories about men who think all they have is physical attraction, only to discover that there is a lot more between them, if you enjoy reading about relationships that start with a simple premise, then get somewhat more complicated pretty soon, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with a lot of heart and emotion, then you will probably like this short story.
NOTE: This book was provided by the author for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.
This little M/M romance could certainly have used more pages and a less hurried characterization. It remains sweet and satisfying despite the typos (timber instead of timbre was kind of hilarious) and a general approach that is kind of feminine and does not ring true/authentic to a gay male like me.
What a surprise this new (for me) author! As soon as i read the blurb I bought it right away because the story was soooo appealing for me and I was not disappointed. I loved the story, Greg and Jack so sweet and cute together! Adorable!!! Pity that the book is really short, I would have liked the story much longer. The story is very well written, you enjoy reading it and the end leaves you smiling (and with hearts in your eyes!). FANTASTIC! I hope to read other stories of this author very soon!!!!
I’ve never read this author before, but I have to say I enjoyed the fun, fast-paced storytelling ability Ms. Lee has. I was in the mood for a quick and sexy read, and Male Seeking Male was a good choice for me.
Greg is appalled when he finds out that his best friend, Rachel, has placed a personal ad for him. Although Greg’s experience has been mostly with women, he’s made it no secret that he’s attracted to men too. After the initial shock over the personal add, Greg decides to give it a shot. He knows he’s ready and willing to date men and secretly hopes that there might be someone out there that will be interesting and nice enough to date.
Jack has lived across the hall from Greg and Rachel for some time. As an EMT his schedule is different than theirs, so he rarely sees them. So much so, he’s surprised when he overhears them arguing over the personal ad that Rachel placed in the paper for Greg. Jack is thrilled when his finds out that Greg his interested in dating men and decides to answer Greg’s ad. To his delight, Greg answers him and soon they start dating. But neither man is really prepared by the deep feelings that start developing between them and Jack must overcome his fear that Greg will leave him for a woman, as well as, some of his own personal hurts and issues from his past.
I really liked this book. I liked both Greg and Jack and it was easy for me to hope that they’d find a way to be together. The sex between them is sizzling hot and also tender and they have a good solid chemistry between them. I do wish the book had been longer. I did feel like the story was a little too rushed and there were times I wanted them to communicate more than they did. But for a short story, I thought Male Seeking Male was a good, solid read and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This was an enjoyable, short, little read! A little heavy on the sex, pretty predictable, and, of course, equipped with the usual plot devices or as I call them: the five acts of . But still quite well written and entertaining.
Since the general rating of the book doesn't really reflect the quality in my eyes, I chose to round up rather than down.
A really sweet story about a guy seeking his first M/M experience, having his best female frind placing an add in the personals. Enter the really hot guy, that happens to live right across the hall.. Hot sex, a little angst, feelings and a really sweet ending..
Nice cheesy book, had several openings for more details and more in-depth long book but meh what can you say its a small book form kindle to kill time.
Greg, is bisexual, but has only really been with women. When his best friend, Rachel gets tired of him being alone, she places a personal ad on his behalf, hoping he can get the experience he seeks with another man. The ad doesn't seem to bring any responses that interest Greg, until he sees one from his neighbor, Jack. Being it's the only one that looks promising, he answers it. Jack feels he can give Greg what he is looking for, without any expectations. Things start out well, and the men grow to trust each other, but after some time, Jack fears what he and Greg want for the future may not be the same things.
This is a short and sweet m/m romance . Greg is looking for someone to show him "the ropes" more or less and Jack is willing to take that on. Neither of them really seems to have high expectations at first, but they end up with stronger feelings. I liked how Jack showed vulnerability to Greg when he opened up about his past and how Greg was able to comfort him. In a way the 2 were able to provide something the other was deeply needing. As short as this is, it still has a good story and can be read in one sitting. I think it is a great first read for someone interested in the m/m romance genre because it's short and also not too heavy on the sex scenes.
This was a really good book! I liked the characters, the emotions, the sex and the feelings! This book was a short, contemporary, m/m book which brings the "coming out" to an entirely differently level. What I had trouble hanging on to was the bi-sexual bit of the book and how easily Greg found himself as only a "gay" man. I have known bi-sexual people in the past and they need to have a little bit of both and do not go easily with giving up on one side of the pole. I think that Kathleen Lee has a great start and with a little bit more plot and characterization she would have had at least a 4 or 5 star book from me!
Short, sweet contemporary m/m romance. Greg is a bi-sexual who has never had a m/m sexual relationship. When his best friend and roommate puts an ad in the local paper he gets more than he could have hoped for. Jack is gay and single and lives across the hall. When he discovers that Greg is looking for someone to introduce him to the pleasures of male loving he offers his services. As they grow closer they have to decide what they want and from whom. I just loved this story! This is an incredibly sweet tale. I absolutely adored sexy sweet Jack and could totally believe Greg. I totally recommend.
I was heading towards rating this 4 STARS which was better than I expected considering the fairly low average rating. But then I reached the mandatory breakup scene and thought WTF!? Jack decides that even though they're great together, they're too different to make it last so they should just break up now. One of those differences is Greg wants children and Jack doesn't, fair enough. The other reason...Greg likes baseball more than Jack does. Say what? Shit. You should definitely break up.

"Holy orgasm, Batman," HOT M/M novella!! With little experience but having a physical desire, Greg has "come out." Not allowing himself the opportunity to bond, his best friend Rachel has a plan!! Jack is more than happy to take on the challenge. As the sparks fly and their bond grows, Greg and Jack realize they may want different things out of life. Can they compromise? If you're a fan of M/M, this is a MUST read! It's a touching journey that will make you swoon!
4 stars. Great short/short-ish story about a newly out bisexual male and his first real experience with another man. I loved Greg and Matt and adored Rachel, the meddling extremely loyal friend that she is. It was wonderful, sweet, well-written, and I look forward to more books by Kathleen Lee.
