4 stars largely for nostalgia and joy that we've reached "The End"

I never thought we'd reach this point. If you read the author's note in the end - you'd know that she struggled and had health and personal issues until the publisher pulled out. But I had always hoped and kept up to date with the WIPs posted in her blog.

Why was this so special to me? This was one of the first NA books I've read - way back in 2012. I read it before it was broken up into 4 parts (now 5) by Willowick. It had none of the insta-love, burning with chemistry and UST that you read nowadays. Instead, you get a story about a nerd who had to tutor a drummer boy in HS. They fell in love. Had a misunderstanding. This plus her mom's death pushed her into hibernation while he went on to become a successful rock star. They eventually found their way back to each other (not romantically). He was the boss, she was the PA. But given that the past was never given a closure, you can't believe how much angst there was in this story. I loved it. It was so real and so emotional.

Jake saved the day here - for his patience, his maturity and his steadfastness. My biggest gripe is never experiencing the joy of their HEA. In previous books, Bethie was always a bit of a bitch - snippy and closed off. But I've always empathised withe her. She was understandably reluctant in Loved (if you follow the published format) but one would hope that eventually she would let love heal her wounds and save her day.

In this final version, she turned into a shrew. Melodramatic even at times and I could barely stand her. She was the ultimate Debbie Downer. I would have thought that happiness and joy would lead the way but she just seemed reluctant even right before the wedding and it ruined it some for me. And the thing with Celeste, I put all the blame on her.

I wasn't totally happy with the final twist at the end as well. I would have much preferred it if we just had a glimpse of Bethie drowning in joy and Jake finally basking in it. They didn't need the added whatever.

I enjoyed it, but could have ended more aligned with Beth's dream or a epilogue in the future.

The Frustration Continues

I stuck with this Jacob and Beth series. 🤦🏻‍♀️. Honest to God, I kept waiting for a Jacob to say I’m done and leave her.

I detest Beth and her “fears” and keeping Jacob on hold for so long.

If you like frustration, read the series. There’s plenty of it.

Just found out this book will probably never happen. Super excited I read four books only to find out I'm never going to know how the story ends.

Like a Yo Yo…

This last book of Beth and Jacob raised my frustration level no end. Beth was up and down about her her relationship with Jacob. It was an exercise in patience. Just too much for me to really enjoy. She worked as his PA for three years, and now can’t stand any publicity at all? Yeah, go figure. Jacob really redeemed himself here. Good guy.

Disappointed

I read only part of the series first and last book. I hate sad stuff. What disappointed me was Beth. I really could not stand her and the way she acted even in youth was a put off. Running constantly from Jake and the way she treated him I was surprised she bothered to marry him. Its a wonder he didn't run the other direction.

I've been with this series since 2011 and have been rooting for this book since the last one came out. I'm glad that we got the ending to Beth and Jacob's story because I was invested in it but until about 80% into the book Beth was wearing on my nerves. Seriously you have a man that would do anything and everything for you and there were more than a few times if Jacob said "F" it I wouldn't have been surprised. But all in all at the end of the day I'm glad it all got tied up in an HEA because that's what we all wanted! I would have liked to see a bit more after the Happily Ever After but I'm just glad that Carla pulled it out and we got this book : )
