OK, note to author. If you are going to write a book set in the US, and you go OUT OF YOUR WAY to set the book in LA . . . and you Go Out Of Your Way to make fun of British English (Talking to a person with a British accent: You're accent... its fake, right?" "I spent most of my childhood in England. My mother went back to live there after a messy divorce and took me with her."} . . . Here is a note. Please pay attention, this is very simple.

DON'T WRITE LIKE A BRIT!

Come on. Surely you have read American novels, right? Spoken to Americans? Yes, you put 'A word on language' in the front saying you wrote in produced the book in the UK. Does that mean you simply don't care about your American readers? If you are going to set your book in the US, it is only polite to have an American edit for language before selling your book in the US. Uh, Especially When You Set Your Book Here. It is rude, self indulgent, and and a sign of disrespect to attempt to vindicate yourself for being lazy. If you are going to WRITE as a Brit, set it in England, not the US. Easy peasy. You won't insult your readers over here, and we over here will be much happier reading a book by a writer who appreciates the differences and doesn't present himself as being better than Americans because you speak British. I would think that the rage of readers against a couple of very well known writers would teach us not to write in a British "voice" and you not to write American settings if you don't write in an American "voice".

The idea of the book was interesting but I won't finish it. Not only were the Britishisms insulting, but the lack of knowledge of American police procedure was also unacceptable. Sorry, No bueno...

Over all - 2.l75 stars. The plot was ambitious, had lots of portential.
I really didn't feel any ties between the characters, I felt like i was reading aboutl lots of characters each with their own story, but thrown together into this one plot.
I also didn't like how the shifter creature took over... all of a sudden we had a different named character, or a conversation between our main character and its sifited self.
the first 30% of the book dragged for me and I almost gave up, but once Chris became a shifter the plot and pace improved.
if there are any follow on books I hope the writing style and the plots will be improved, somewhat narrowed in scopr and the character have more ties with each other

There are freebie ebooks about werewolves and other supers, and there are those authors that are a grade above the rest. Mark Cooper is the latter. I recently read a new book, from a well known bestseller, that wasn't this good. Seriously. If paranormals with a bit of romance and a lot of mystery are your thing, read this series! Each book (I've read 2 so far) has a satisfying ending, the main story arc is intriguing, the characters are carried over, mostly, from the first book, so there's no confusing 'getting to know them' chapters. I'm super impressed by this author, and I'm glad to have found him.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I managed to pick this book up as a freebie from Amazon.
I must say from the cover i expected a dirty/romance novel - it comes across that way too me (sorry cover maker!). It turns out the book is not a dirty or romance it is an urban fantasy.

I enjoyed the book & I liked the characters. It was a long but interesting story, it had a lot packed in. I would recommend it & I will read other books released in the series. I hope the author continues Chris story as i would love to see how she further adapts to her new life.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. What a fascinating world he's created, where humans and non-humans are forced to live together. In this book the focus is on a female police officer who in that last book got infected and became a shifter. She must learn to embrace her new self kicking and screaming. She swears revenge against another shifter - the one who not only turned her into a wolf shifter but also was responsible for a series of murders.

One of the main characters from the first book, the young human doctor who was also turned into a shifter follows through with his plans to make life more tolerable for shifters, coordinating political efforts through an organization he founded to benefit shifters and non-humans.

There are lots of fight scenes, and plenty of chats between Chris's human self and her wolf self.

Looking forward to the next book.

Wolf's Revenge is the second book in the Shifters Legacies series and it is Lieutenant Chris Humber's story. Chris is a Lieutenant in the LAPD trying to solve the string of shifters being murder with no trace of evidence. With tensions and prejudice high between humans and non-humans, Chris need a break in the case to solve the strings of murders.

Being kick off the force, Chris is still determined to catch her serial killer with the help of non-humans and to adopt their ways.

Wolf's Revenge connects one scene to another scene which the readers could follow easily unlike the first book, The Ways of the Wolf which shift from one character's story to another character's story.

After seeing an email from the author, I discovered that he wrote this book first and then The Ways of the Wolf. I started with The Ways of the Wolf first and did have the background of the characters in Wolf's Revenge. I would start with Wolf's Revenge first and then The Ways of the Wolf if the readers are listening to the audiobooks. But I do strongly recommends that readers read or listen to these two books first before continuing on with this series since the characters in these two books may make an appearance in the upcoming books.

The narrator Makael Nevermore did a very good job with the voices of the characters. It is easy to recognize which characters is speaking. Hopefully, he will continue narrating the next two books in the series.

It is a pretty good series with the alternative Los Angeles where monsters do exist and prejudice is at a high between humans and monsters. It is ironic that some of the monsters are more human than the humans themselves.

I was given this audiobook by the author via Audiobook Blast for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence any way for writing this review.

I will say after having read the first book then listening to the audio version that I wanted to listen to this book rather than to read it. I was expecting a lot of head hopping like the first book, but it didn't really do that and mostly centered on Chris. When her wold talked it was 100% more helpful that I was listening to the audio book rather than reading it myself. The voices for each character are different, but it was a lot better to listen to the narrator's voice change rather than to read a few words in to figure out who was talking. The time setting is 8 years after the first book and a lot of things have happened, but you are caught up for the most part. When Chris goes to visit with the "monsters" and pretty much learns it all again I got reminded how her mind was pretty much wiped of this stuff in the first book. I wonder if her actions and the outcome might've been different if they hadn't done that?
The first part of the book kinda dragged, then got faster once Chris was attacked. I was sort of expecting something else when it came to her attitude. I mean like maybe it gave her an attitude adjustment? lol As it was I still found her a bit too brash and argumentitive with everyone. It took the entire book but I think ... maybe she isn't such a butthead now?

She was, I guess, the perfect cookie cutterish character of the tough guy girl cop who is all about prooving herself to the man. At one point she mentioned wearing satin and lace underwear was something she'd never think of doing normally. Seriously, most women I know like to wear pretty underthingsno matter what they are wearing on the outside.
I got to see glimpses of the characters I would've rather read about, but at least I got a sort of update on them.

Wolf's Revenge: Chris is a head strong, impulsive, but very determined cop working in the Monster Central of Los Angeles. She's been assigned to a unusual serial killer case when a bunch of shifters start showing up dead in various parts of the city. At the same time there is a group trying to get all non humans the same equal rights as the regular humans. Chris has never really thought about shifter rights, she's just always been concerned with getting the bad guy and locking them up. This all changes when she finds her killer and instead of getting the answers she wants and catching her murderer, she becomes what she fears most. Will she be able to embrace her new life style and comes to terms with the creature within or will it be all to much for her to handle. I dearly loved this story because it brings to light how we take our rights and freedoms for granted till suddenly the shoe is on the other foot. What do you mean you won't serve me in this restaurant, why can't I work any where. This story shows the injustice of how people treat each other even in current day society and how things really need to change. If I could have given this series 6 or 7 stars I would but will have to settle for a big whopping 5!

This story follows cop Chris, one of the main characters in the prequel 'Way of the Wolf' as she investigates a murder by a psychopathic shifter. It's written entirely from Chris' point of view and follows her evolution as a character as she learns more about the world of shifters.

Because I already knew most of the characters from the previous book, it was easier to keep track of the 'cast' when listening to this on audible. I enjoyed the story; the fight scenes are well-written, the world-building is interesting and the narration is excellent.

Now, what I want to know is: are there more in this series?

A tale set in the future, with the preternatural world crashing into the human world and they don't seem to get along very well. Anyway, Wolf's Revenge is the second book in the Shifter's Legacies series. There is a whole lot of world building in this book. Set up after set up, that slowed the pace for me. It really took over half the book to get to a place where the action seemed to move forward.
Once all of the pieces were in place, the book really took off. There were lots of twists and turns that led the reader around all over the place, at least there was sort of a HEA.

I lucked out and got this full length book for free on Amazon, but after reading it know I wouldve paid for it. Wish there was a follow up I could read right now. A decent amount of fighting and violence, as its initially about a serial killer shifter being hunted by cops. So if you arent okay with that sort of stuff then it isnt for you. I want to see Chris actually connect with some others more, hopefully that happens in a future book that will come out soon ;)

Loved it!

Chris wasn't my favorite character in the first book and I still like John. It was good to know everything worked out somewhat for the other people in this series. Look forward to the next installment

Like this author. He writes very well, and good stories also, the setting is unusual and very different and the story style is not what you would expect from a urban fantasy books.
it works and I liked it a lot.
