Sometimes, love is complicated.
Sometimes, love just is.
Casey Fiore and Rob MacKenzie are back! New baby, new house, new life. In this novella-length follow-up to DAYS LIKE THIS, Casey and Rob find that marriage continues to pose its challenges. Casey has finally achieved the happiness she sought for years. But for Rob, adjusting to these major life changes is more difficult, leading to tensions and misunderstandings that the couple must work through in order to grow and thrive as a family.
Laurie Breton is a USA Today bestselling author of romantic suspense and women's fiction. When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her two grown children and with her two grandchildren, who are the light of her life. If you went looking, you might find her at the beach, or attending a sidewalk art festival, or walking the streets of Boston. Laurie lives in a small town in Maine with her husband and two adorable dogs named River and Jasmine.
I was lucky enough to be a first reader for this story and I was thrilled to hear more about Rob and Casey. Casey is the heroine, but we all know it's Rob we love, right, ladies? Of course it is. The story is short but it's well done and boy, did it bring back memories - as Casey learned, no matter how many times you birth a baby, some things you can predict and others you can't. I thought it addressed a lot of the things that couples go through when they have a baby together, made more poignant by their shared and separate histories. It will just whet your appetite for the story to continue. This should, hopefully, provide a nice bridge in time between Days Like This and Redemption Road, which will be Casey's sister, Colleen's story.
If you haven't yet read this series and you're looking for something new to try, go for it! You'll be glad you did. Be forewarned (as if the author has not already told you, but just in case) this is a SHORT story. Just a small, updating, bridging story, NOT a full-length novel.
I just absolutely love reading about Rob & Casey. They are probably one of my most favorite book couples ever, because their friendship and relationship really stood the test of time, and everything worked out for them, just the way that is should have. Even if it took 15+ years to get to their HEA. I am so glad we got a little more of their story with this sweet novella and I really love Paige, Rob's 'never knew he had' teenage daughter. She is 15 and really added quite a bit to the story between both Day's Like This and The Next Little Thing. I hope to see more of her story in the future. This Jackson Fall's mini held so much emotion, that I felt my throat catch a few times, as they reminisced about Danny and all of their emotions. Laurie Breton sure knows how to bring out the emotion in a story. I hope I never lose that feeling when I read about their story, no matter how many stories she writes in this series.
Argh. Sorta fun to keep up with these characters, but damn, are they irritating sometimes. I am so so so in love with you, I hate you, did you stop loving me, I am SO in love with you, we are two halves, now you don't want to be with me? Nuts.
Paige is actually my favorite character. She's the only one with depth and evolution. Hope to see more of her.
And...how many times can Rob take a strand of someone's hair and twirl it? Or run a single finger through that hair? And does anyone speak in a way that's anything other than "softly?" I feel that this author has a limited vocabulary.
Oh, and more revisionist history. The more we go on, the more terrible Casey's relationship with Danny was. Nonsense.
Very very cute!!! Some mind blowing dialogues that make you want to love harder! Deep emotions recited so lightly you won't know until it hits you!! Brilliantly put. If you loved Rob and Casey in Days Like This, you would want to read this!! Paige, Rob's teenage daughter and Casey's step daughter just gets better!
It's cute and intense and fun all at the same time! I'm not sure I'm doing justice in explaining how good the book is, but I strongly recommend reading Days Like This before this and then you won't need me to convince you to read this! :)
A nice sweet little edition to the series. Nothing earth changing but still a good story nonetheless. Also it was nice to see that Paige and Rob's relationship has improved. Emma Danielle brings newness to Rob and Casey. Rob is normally so sure of himself but he isn't so sure about fatherhood. After all Danny didn't want children but was a great father and Rob wanted fatherhood so maybe he might fail? Casey made peace with Danny in the last book and in this book it is Robs turn,
OMG I just love casey and rob there love is so moving and little baby Emma I just can't wait to read more all the feelings that rob was going through we're very real and a lot of men don't say anything like rob they hold it all inside my husband being one of them and casey is so caring and understanding its just so sweet to read about will done Laurie just did not want that to end :)
I absolutely loved this short story of Rob and Casey!! Again like the last three it had me crying !! Their relationship is just so emotional and I can't get enough!! And I'm even more excited about the next book!!!! Even though it won't be about Rob and Casey I still like to see where the other characters are headed!! So keep them coming Laurie Brenton!!!!
A nice short story that is meant to lead in to the next full length novel. As enjoyable as the preceding books. This read like Danielle Steel novels would if Danielle Steel didn't have such an irritating writing style. It doesn't matter that the main characters are music stars in a world most of us are unfamiliar with, you still want to follow along with them and see their lives unfold.
This was a great little addition to the Casey/Rob story. Baby Emma makes her appearance and Danny's shadow still looms rather large in their lives. There's nothing earth shattering in this book, but it's nice to catch up with these characters that I've gotten to know so well through the first three books. I look forward to the next installment in the series.
This was a very cute quick read and a lovely addition to Rob and Casey story. I love Rob and this story made me love him more. He was real and his emotions were so genuine. I hope this isnt the last that we hear from Rob and Casey.
Perfect continuation of Rob and Casey's story. Even though it was a short novella, it gives just enough to lead into her next book Redemption Road. I can't wait!
Loved it, loved all 3 books!! Kinda sad now, love Rob and Casey!! Dont know if i can/want to read others!! x x Maybe another book is due with Mikey and Paige then we get more Rob and Casey!!!!
This book was great. I loved how it showed how paige had finally became part of the family. Rob grew up quite a bit as well. I don't know what to say except I love rob and casey.
I was so happy to find this novella featuring Casey and Rob again. I just love this couple, and getting to spend a bit more time with them was a good thing!
