Remember the Archangels’ mission? Satan has found a loophole in the rules that govern his battle against Good. The Archangel Uriel sends twelve Warrior Archangels to Earth on a mission to even the odds.
Each Archangel has one month to find a couple, unite them, and use their union’s power to create the Holy Warriors needed to defend the world against Satan’s unholy creations.
But the mission isn’t so simple when inheriting Humanity comes with challenges beyond the Angel’s training, and every milestone in the couple’s relationship effects the triumvirate’s strength.
Kassern and Dorn have finished forming their triumvirates—oh wait, back up a minute—make that quadumvirates. Kassern had some difficulty dealing with his new human appetites and ended up taking a wife. Commander Uriel has determined Kassern’s indiscretion upset the entire power balance. The only solution is for all the archangels to find wives.
And now it’s Toren’s turn. But the enemy is farther ahead than they anticipated, so the archangels must accomplish the unthinkable in half the time.
The formula: find his couple, unite them, then join with his own selected wife. But true to his mercurial nature, Toren does things his own way. In this instance, reverse.
With his sights set on a lady rancher, he has his hands full studying to be a cowboy and hog-tying demons before he ever gets a hold of his human couple. Once he does, he’s saddled with a Rodeo Queen that thinks all men are from the devil and an arrogant foreign soldier that seems determined to prove her right. All that’s left is to get them to fall in love without killing each other before all hell breaks loose.
When Toren shows up at his prospective wife's ranch mid-emergency, he makes his own path to forge his quadumvirate but nothing works as it should. Battling demons, insane horses and mystical cowboys does little to prepare him for making love to a bitter woman resigned to a life alone.
He could never have imagined two people as messed up as his human couple—a brainy beauty queen running from human traffickers and a desperate soldier seeking revenge on a brutal illegal arms dealer.
How can Toren bind his quadumvirate and overcome demons while he's stuck dealing with his humans' issues and his own ignorance?
I'm a lifelong writer, and returning to publication after a 5 year break. I live in a TINY rural community in eastern Kentucky with Hubby of 33 years and 3 grandsons.
These days, I'm writing Paranormal Romance with Dragons, Slayers, Vampires, Shifters, Witches, and who knows what else!
I was back and forth between 4 and 5 stars on this one, so I settled on a 4.5. There were several things in this book that hit home and made me a bit angry. It started with the meeting of the archangels led by Uriel and right before Toren's turn to head to Earth (which confused me a bit since the intended couple needs to have their first kiss to bring the angel through the aether...). Uriel's on his high horse because the new Pope is causing quite the ruckus with allowing birth control and "ushering the church into the 21st century". *sigh...* This is why I'm spiritual without following a particular religion. I know plenty of Catholics/Christians that use the pill. And FYI, it IS the 21st century, and I like the new Pope. Does this guy know women vote now, too? Someone might wanna tip him off on that one...
Since Socerith (Satan's head honcho) has found a way to unleash his scientific experiments on mankind, it means Uriel and the others have to speed things up a bit and do their job in about 1/2 the amount of time. There's a commotion when the angels are told by Uriel he's picked out their future wives for them by choosing those who are vulnerable. Great Urie, nice...
The angels are urged to learn about how to please their wives but warned to stay away from what humans call porn (hey now, there's nothing wrong with porn. It's like salt: a little bit adds some flavor and variety). He reminds them of instinct, but that instinct without morality is how beasts behave. Some people need a lesson in this...
Meanwhile, Zool's only concern is that his wife be intelligent (oh how I can't wait to read about this one!).
On Earth, Toren reunites with his future wife Samantha by answering an ad she placed for a farm hand. He actually met her in book 2, but due to what she suffered he wiped her memory just enough so she would fall for him naturally rather than through coercion, as that would not be noble. Oh how I love this guy! Trying to get Sam to not be so hard on herself is no easy task. She's put up with a father who tried to marry her off just to get rid of her and has been eternally disappointed she wasn't born a boy, yet she constantly compares her own figure to one (as do most of the farm hands). Her self esteem issues lead her to judging anyone who has a voluptuous body as "easy". Really sick of girls who think like this, but with all the "real women have curves" going around she's not entirely to blame. Voluptuous women tell skinny girls to 'eat a sandwich' while skinny girls think all big busted women are fake. Even if they are, who cares? How about we stop judging each other?? She's also had to put up with "new ager" Joe who's a threat all throughout the story on several levels.
Toren begins his new job, but soon enough there's trouble. There's a fire in one of the barns and Samantha is badly injured. Add to that her coming down with the flu that's been going around. Toren marvels at the fragility of humanity, and wonders why almost no one sees that evolution and creationism work within the same paradigm. Too often we see people pick one or the other, and too many people think that Christians don't believe in evolution, or that scientists don't believe in a higher power/God. Everyone is right: -they're 2 halves of the same whole.
Then we get to Ezekiel and Skylar who are supposed to be Toren's couple. They meet at a small cafe where they both use the computers to find work. Ezekiel's first impression of Sky is that she's just another American slut because she wears jeans and a shirt that shows she has a nice figure and wears makeup as "armor". I can't tell you how sick I am of this attitude, too. Sexy is not slutty or stupid. Not to mention that jeans and a t-shirt aren't necessarily sexy. But I guess if you come from a country where women are forced to be covered head to toe, not allowed to speak or initiate sex, and only used for procreation and to dominate over that is how you would think. (It's unbelievable how some people are so quick to judge others). Of course, he's quick to offer to give her the directions she needs to Sam's ranch in exchange for a ride, so sure she couldn't defend herself against the demon in disguise who also wants to tag along. After some deliberation she finally agrees to giving both guys a ride.
Now I know there are tests bestowed upon us all, and I have no problem admitting I would have failed this one. Being kind gets you in trouble.
After hearing the demon's intentions and warning and telling Sky, he feels she gets what she deserves by trusting him. He's an oddly conflicted man: he hates everything Sky represents, but has an innate sense of protecting her...
Arriving at the ranch sets Sam's insecurities on high alert. As she's introduced to Sky-a former rodeo queen (I'll admit I don't know what that is) she wonders why Sky still "plays the part" if she doesn't want to be reminded of her past. Looking good and playing ONE role doesn't make one's entire life. Damn Sam, get some self esteem. Since the enemy (read the Devil) uses one's own doubt against their natural reaction you need to stop and think.
Since there's not much time to lose, it's not too long before Toren tells Sky and Ezekiel of the plans and how they are 'his couple'. Naturally, neither is open for this suggestion, as they really dislike each other! However, Sky finally relents only to be pretty much used. Ezekiel is used to being a soldier, and doing what is necessary to get the mission accomplished. Oh boy does Toren give him a lesson! He reminds him Sky is more precious to God than all men, simply because she is a woman. She isn't weak, and submission isn't a sign of weakness. Toren is sick of zealots who misinterpret the Bible and use it to their own advantage and use God's name to do it. Quite frankly, so am I. (This isn't limited to relationships between men and women BTW). The way Toren speaks-in "such awe and immaculate reverence"- makes both Sky and Ezekiel stop in their thought tracks. Let me tell you how some people in this world do need a swift kick in the attitude department...
After Ezekiel's brush with death via Toren, he goes to Sky to ask for forgiveness. Not knowing he'd been given visions of her terrible past, she actually does forgive him saying it isn't really his fault. He wasn't taught any better. Another test I probably would have failed.
But angels help in odd ways, and for reasons most humans will never figure out. Sometimes you don't know what good your seemingly insignificant or random actions can do. You're judged by a higher power, (the only acceptable judging) by what you know, not what you don't. And no two souls are judged the same. Angels are more spiritual while humans are more cognitive/physical. But each has the ability to be the other. That's deep-think about it. It means We are all equal but opposite, like all of creation, and we're more angelic than we'd like to believe. Thankfully due to Ezekiel's ability to swallow his pride and ask for forgiveness and Sky's ability to forgive that's what happened. With their union they became the warriors they were needed to be while Toren become more human (although he's still an angel) and allowed him to finally become one with his wife, Sam, and their quadumvirate was now formed. Good thing, too, because Satan's evil creations are on the move...
What I love is that the lessons of trust and forgiveness and judgement are all throughout the story. We'll all be judged, but we'll all also be able to ask for forgiveness.
We again see Kassern, but not his wife so much as she's suffering from the demon bite from book 2. We see the 4 warriors from the first 2 angels and we see Dorn being...well...Dorn. LOL He's still contentious and pretentious, but he's got a new addiction to caffeine which I love to no end! Dorn asks the human men to explain 'pillow talk' to him. He knows his wife, Sallie wants to hear it, but he doesn't want to ask her. OK, this part was highly amusing, but there's a lesson here, too. Ladies, men aren't mind readers. And guys, you need to ask your woman what she wants. It's OK to not know something. Ask and ye shall receive.
Toren thinks hearing the word God is the most wonderful thing. Saying oh my God or OMG isn't in vain like some people think it is IF you're saying it in an acknowledging way. Meaning, if you're pretty much saying "I know God made this and I'm giving it up to Him" it's actually nice. (** NOTE: I say God and Him b/c that's how it is in the book. If you're not particularly religious, that's OK-the messages are still there).
A paradox is when a person can't explain something. It's funny how we blame God for all the wrong in the world, but rarely praise Him for all the miracles that happen. Little as they may be, they do actually happen, and just because you don't see them doesn't make them non existent.
We get a glimpse of some of the future angels including Lyght, Zool and Salem which I liked, except...Salem's last?? He's emerald! I'm really looking forward to him!
This series keeps getting better, but more intense and deep. I will read book 4, but I am definitely reading the supplemental books first.
There are 12 Archangel’s, 12 Couples and 12 months to create the Holy warriors needed to prevent the demon abominations from destroying the earth. Only now our Angels need to step up their game plan.
Toren The Mercury Warrior is as hot as they come. In the previous book he actually rescues his wife to be and kisses her (this is important to remember). But he wipes her memory so she forgets the terrible ordeal. When it’s Toren’s time to go to earth and find his couple and claim his wife his Mercury is warring with him and he tries to tap it down. Strange feelings like anxiety creep in and a strong protective/possessive urge wants to take over. These feelings/reactions are totally out of character for him.
Toren has to capture Sam’s heart without using any angelic powers/help and Azure and Kenra did a fabulous job playing this story out. The love scenes are scorching hot and the temptation Toren battles against to give in and consummate his marriage to Sam before and after he reveals what he is, is point on. The dream scene OMG was amazing. Sam actually thought she was dreaming while she’s cuddling up to Toren and he responds. It’s a constant battle to fight what I like to say “His Mercury Rising.” He even turns to his brothers Kassern and Dorn to find out why he has these emotions before he’s found his couple. You see how deeply he cares for her when he does something so compassionate after he hears her crying. I don’t want to reveal anything here because it will take away from that squeeze in your heart reaction when you read it.
There are so many scenes in this book that are worth mentioning so here are a few of my teasers. Toren’s couple Ezekiel and Skylar. Skylar was a rodeo queen and was totally abused by her stepfather. Ezekiel ex-military is some righteous fool who has a cleanliness fetish and thinks all American Women are whores, and this was Toren’s couple. Ezekiel is less than cordial to Skylar and ends up suffering the wrath of Toren. I loved how this played out and how Skylar broke down the cement walls around his heart.
When Toren was finally able to consummate his marriage to Sam she has a flash back of when she was in the convent pregnant delivering the devils monsters and close to death. Here is where she remembers Toren and his kiss. Here is where the connection occurs with Peggy (Peggy is Toren’s inner being not sure how else to explain this) and the devils little monsters and Sam, and may be the reason Toren had this strong protective/possessive pull towards Sam in his Angel form, and Peggy is protecting the little monsters because part of Sam is in them.
The ending chapters are unbelievable and this is a must read. I give this book 5* and can’t wait for Lyght’s book.
Summon Toren is the third book in the awesome Archangel Series by Azure Boone and Kenra Daniels. The Archangel Uriel sends Toren to earth to create the warriors he needs. Toren meets Sam, a lady rancher, and they both fall in love. Also, we meet the human couple, Skylar and Ezekial, and witness how these two oddly matched people can overcome their problems and find each other. The writing in this book is superb. The two love stories tug at your heart strings. Azure and Kenra both write with a clarity and purpose. As a reader, you experience all that goes on, from the action packed battle scenes to the sizzling love scenes. I recommend this series to everyone . Each installment just gets better and better.
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah worst feeling ever!!! Gotta wait til the fall for the next book!!!!! OMG but seriously awesome series! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!
Summon Toren (Archangels Creed # 3) by Azure Boone and Kenra Daniels is filled with two subjects that are near and dear to my heart! Any of you out there in the the blogosphere who have figured out the vast expanse of the mind of Cinnamon Grace already know what those two things probably are....romance and SEX!!! Wow, this book was better than the first two! I truly loved Summon Kassern, the first in the series and still do. But, Summon Toren still has me reeling and I finished it last night at about 9:00 p.m. Then I started a new book from a completely different author and genre. I’m telling you, Darlings, YOU HAVE TO GET THIS BOOK! But, you have to read them in order or you will be lost! First is Summon Kassern then is Summon Dorn and then is Summon Toren and all three are amazing and completely mind bending! They all take you to another world and out of whatever place you want to get out of in your own head!
You can read summaries on Amazon about what the stories entail so, I believe that is not my job as a reviewer. I believe my job is to let you know whether it is worth your time or not. These ladies, Azure Boone and Kenra Daniels are giving you suspense, romance, sex (HOT and I’m not kidding, really HOT, leaving you on the couch dripping HOT sex!), humor (laughing out loud, going back and re-reading that part and asking yourself, “Did that really just happen?), and fight scenes you would have thought were written by a man! If books are meant for entertainment which I believe they are then this book is worth it’s weight in gold! I couldn’t put it down! Get reading, Darlings! You won’t be disappointed!
Summon Torn the third installment in the Archangels Creed was a fantastic read but, you really need to read the first two to understand where this story fits into the plot. It is another very well written collaborated effort by two wonderful authors who give you some very bad ass characters as well as wonderful, touching romance, smoking hot sex, extremely funny humor and some very incredible action scenes. Good is battling evil and events have been sped up on the evil side, so Toren is going to do things his way since he had met and saved the women he wanted for his wife and all he could think about was her. He doesn’t know who will be his human pair so he proceeds to do things in reverse, wooing his soon to be wife and then turn his focus on his picking his human pair to complete his part in the mission of the Archangels Creed. He finds wooing his soon to be wife not an easy task and his human pair well this is going to take some work and his time is running very short. These archangels along with the other characters in this series are extraordinary and this is a must read. I look forward to reading about the next archangel and his story.
I absolutely love this book. I actually think this story keeps getting better and better. I never thought it would be possible to have a new series as my best reads ever! 'Summon Toren' is such a great book. Talk about bad ass characters. Between the Archangels, their wives and the couples, they are all unique. I love how the authors create each character with their own story. All through this series I have yet to find any two the same. The story never veers away from the initial quest. I definitely love the hot and steamy parts of this book. The humor throughout is awesome. Extremely well written. You might want to read all the books in this series in order or you may not fully understand the plot. But even if you don't, the books are great reads and not hard to follow. I highly recommend the 'Archangels Creed' series. A must add to your tbr list. I can not wait for the next book.
ok this book was interesting for a change of pace in the fact that Toren had amazing manners not just simple manners but ones we all wish men to have. still lots of question on the sickness with Kassern's wife, what is exactly going on with her? I am excited for the next one knowing that not only will there be a wife but a son tooo. hmmm how will that affect the dynamics of the angels who only have wives and humans interesting thought.
I have to say I typically do not get into these types of books but this series has sucked me in and not let go. With each book in the series releases I think oh this is my favorite archangel lol. So obviously now Toren is my fav. In this book #3 things start to really heat up and the story get more involved. This is not a book you can skim over, you must read every word to keep up with whats going on and I love that. Happily awaiting Archangel Lyght
