Private Investigator Lexi Graves is pleased to clear up her latest assignment. It’s a simple case of misguided suspicion after all. Then her brother, Detective Daniel Graves, turns up on her doorstep, alone, blood-spattered, and almost entirely incoherent. What happened to him? Where did he come from? And what, if anything, did he leave behind? Springing into action, the clues Daniel provides for Lexi lead her to a terrible scene that holds more questions than answers. Biggest of all, who is trying to frame Daniel for murder? With Daniel’s memory sketchy, and now a wanted man, Lexi is determined to untangle what appears to be a case of murder-for-hire. It will take everything she’s got to unmask a dangerous foe before her brother goes down for crimes he insists he didn’t commit.

I loved everything about this book! Once I started it I couldn't put it down. It made me laugh at times and was also filled with suspense leaving me wondering what was going to happen next. This whole series has been great and I enjoyed spending time with these characters we've come to know and love. I highly recommend this series and this book to anyone who loves a good book with an engaging plot and well developed characters that are easy to love.
the best ! right out of the wheelhouse her brother stumbles thru the door and your off, Turning the pages twisting and turning, mixed in with a laugh or two. Fun series with all written well holding the reader's interest with a good solid story line. Enjoy....
ARC - I loved the newest Lexi Graves book! I was so excited to see we were going to find out what’s going on in Lexi’s life and those around here. This case kept me on the edge of my seat, and as always, I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters. As always, I highly recommend this series. If you haven’t read it yet, you can start it, but I also recommend going back to the beginning. Enjoy!
This book is #16 in the Lexi Graves Mysteries, written by Camilla Chafer. In this episode, Lexi Graves-Solomon, along with her husband, John Solomon and all the employees at Solomon Private Investigators, work on two cases. After they seemingly complete one case, another literally comes knocking on Lexi and Solomon's front door. Lexi is one of 5 siblings, and one of Lexi's brothers, Daniel, pounds on Lexi's door and collapses, all bloody, on Lexi's floor. The blood does not belong to Daniel, but to witnesses and other police officers who were guarding the witnesses at a Witness Protection safe house. If you've read this entire series, you know Daniel did not kill 4 innocent people. Lexi knows this, too, and she must find the real killer, the one who framed Daniel. This book is full of action and family love and trust. It is a book where the first case entertained with Daniel's case, and Lexi and Solomon must find out who done it before Daniel, and possibly Lexi, get killed, in the process. I gave this book 5 stars. I especially loved Lexi and her best friend and sister-in-law Lily, as well as Solomon, Delgado, Lucas, Fletcher, Flaherty, Lexi's mom, dad, brothers, sister (even though she's pretty hard to love), and Angelica (the girl who is beautiful and knows it), and Louise. I really hope I see Louise in a future book.
(3.5 Stars) Despite all of the glowing reviews, “Charmed Forces” was not one of my favorites in the Lexi Graves Mystery series. It took me a minute to figure out why I was struggling with this read but in the end I realized that it all boiled down to being too little (lack of depth) in the personal relationships between Lexi and the characters I’ve grown to love. Yes, this read was centered around drama about one of Lexi’s brothers but there was little in the way of emotional details. There were just cursory conversations about this and that leaving me with a emotional void.
Lexi and Lily had minor interactions. Lexi and Solomon’s relationship was rather tepid and I truly miss the quirky side of her mother. Additionally, when this series first came out there was a strong fashion overtone but even it was played down.
There were plenty of characters, stressful situations and some key moments of action but in the end I just wanted more. It wasn’t even until I was 40% in before I started feeling invested. Other fans seemed to enjoy it though. I will say that I am looking forward to the next installment because I am hoping Ms. Chafer will return to the more personal side of Lexi’s relationships with Lily and Solomon. Who knows, maybe a baby in the mix might get me out of the reading doldrums. Let’s hope so anyway.
Wow! Camilla Chafer has done it again. With Charmed Forces, the 16th book in the amazing and delightful Lexi Graves Mystery Book series, Ms Chafer once again throws a complete unexpected situation at Lexi and her family; her gentle, calm, and honest-a-the-day-is-long brother Daniel is being set up to take the fall for murder. Even with an extended family of cops, the investigation, that has to be kept underground, is complex and the chance of clearing him seems impossible. We know nothing is impossible for that gang, but readers will be right on the edge of their seats right along with the family and friends. Ms. Chafer maintains the humor that makes the series a standout while allowing Lexi to move from a fun-loving young adult to a serious investigator and wife. Of course, all of those hot guys help keep the reader happy even while a cloud hangs over our favorite Charmed Forces. My thanks to Camilla Chafer for allowing me to read and ARC of the excellent Charmed Forces. It was awesome!!!
Another fun Lexi Graves-Solomon mystery. This time one of the Graves family members is involved in a crime. But is this person a victim, witness or more? Is there a mole at the MPD? Who is leaking information about classified cases and why? Go with Lexi and the Solomon investigative team as they try to find the truth, put together pieces of the puzzle and find out about other crimes they didn’t even know might exist. Lexi has a true talent to insert herself into the craziest situations. Her best friend, Lily, can always be counted on to add to the mayhem. Lexi’s husband, Solomon, will always have Lexi’s back. This story does a great job of reminding us what a fantastic team of PI’s the Solomon Agency is. We learn more about some of the members of the Graves family and how they will always stick together. Those well known FBI agents, Maddox and Farid, are also involved. I can highly recommend this newest addition from Camilla Chafer. (ARC)
I'm always sad when I reach the last page. The author has created such wonderful characters and over the last 16 books you feel as if you have really gotten to know them and have watched them grow. This was another fun book and it felt new and fresh which is quite amazing at book 16. In this book you didn't have the typical "who is the culprit" storyline. That's not to say it was completely absent, but there was more focus on how Lexi was going to clear her brother's name, more skill, less luck. I can't wait for the next book!
Detective Daniel Graves was on an assignment that went sideways. He found himself at his sister, Lexi’s front door drugged and barely coherent. What he could communicate put Lexi and Solomon on the case. She gets a break at the nail salon and a party. Who doesn’t love a good party? Turns out there was a whole lot more going on behind the scenes with Lexi only skimming the surface. Always a fun read. Lexi and Lilly get up to the best antics.
I’m not a fan of Lexi being excluded from information and Solomon included. Especially when she is on the front line.
I love this author and have read all her books within the Lexi Graves series.
This is the only one that left me disappointed. I am unsure whether she is just trying to nature the characters, but missing was the humor and the light-hearted nature of Lexi.
It was as if a ghost writer had written it without reading any previous books.😢😢
I have read (and re-read) every book in this series, and this one tips them all! This installment of the Lexi Graves series showed a wonderful side of loyalty and family bond. When tragedy strikes, Levi jumps into action. I do love it when Lexi and Lily go out together for shakeouts and missions together. It's well worth the read.
I started book 16th "Charmed Forces" thinking that it couldn't top Camilla Chafers' previous book. I couldn't be more wrong. She totally surprised me by starting off with a bang! I won't spoil it for you. You'll just have to read it. Keep them coming Camilla Chafer! Forever a fan!
This one has twists and turns that you see coming and bam you don’t see coming. Love this book and the case is all Lexi and Solomon solving but not to worry Lilly will be part of the crime fighting team.
This book is another great addition to this series with the wonderful, fun, loyal, smart characters, and a great mystery to be solved. I really enjoyed it! Great!
The plot and mystery had me not wanting to put the book down. I loved how everyone comes together and seeing Maddox as well. Fingers crossed for Lexi and Solomon !!! Five stars
Well really you just can’t keep a good family and their friends down excellent job very exciting and some classic Lexi moves. Absolutely love this series can’t can’t wait for more. Highly recommend
Chafer writes fun, witty, action packed books that bring endearing characters and page turning brilliance. Charmed Forces is not a letdown and definitely a must read. Team work at its best. Can’t wait for the next book in Lexi Graves life.
Another great instalment in this amazing series !! So many twists and turns and the usual laugh out loud moments from the dynamic duo of Lexi and lily. I can’t wait to see what they get up to next!!
I just came across this new book on the Lexi Graves series and bought it a week ago and just finished it and boy it didn’t disappoint , was a great story!!! Like usual I can’t wait for the next book to drop !!!
I love love love this author so much, 16 books and not once have I been bored, love the mystery and adventure in these, Lexi is a strong independent women and I named my daughter after her.
Changes are hard but necessary. Mysteries don't always end perfectly but this book did just that. There is more to come and I can't wait for the next book.
Chafer writes like I’m part of the Graves family and all the feel good stuff that comes with it. I’m a witness to the fun and a part of the funny shenanigans.
